Prime || High Guard
Such a noble reason and yet you didn't care to tell anyone of it, you returned with a mate and a foal at your side.. Why? Didn't you tell me... The meeting with the Bachelors had gained her much, that silence could be just as powerful as words. She didn't want to be mad at Ryder but his actions had hurt and along with the feeling of being useless it was a final strike to her to snap. She was.. all guards were supposed to protect this herd, each phasing day without action to aid the mares made her frustration stronger. Prime turned to Kanu as he spoke as if that very matter was something to take pride in, him who had made the deal in the first place that caused them to lose Cael and the others.. Needless to say her trust in the Captain was made fragile by the turn of events. "I can't share your feelings in this matter. I am not proud over this situation, it's nothing but a shame.. for each guard that ever sworn to keep this herd safe. Even if it's for the greater good those mares are still as much part of this herd as any other. It took one single brute to force us all to stand back? The only weapon allowed to use against their actions was silence when all of us wanted nothing more than to kick in their groins. How can I be expected to take pride in being of no use to this herd?" Her voice threatened to break due to the many emotions in them. She blamed herself harsher than anyone for the turn of events. She couldn't accept the sacrifices, knowing that she should have been one of them if not for Aurelie. It was like facing the deaths the final sacrifices of her parents yet again. Unlike that event these mares was not beyond her to save, Cael, Seeker, Aurelie..even Hazel. A heavy sigh was uttered, why? Couldn't she for once not get to be the one saved at the cost of others? However to risk the whole herd was no use, she had hoped that they would be able to make it work but it was clear she stood alone in that belief. It was made even more clear as Stormcry snapped at her. Unleashing the ire she had felt lingering on her with every gaze from the mare.
""My rank was entrusted by Cael, she deemed me worthy. Punish you? Do you ever listen to a word I speak? All are free to speak their minds and that statement I thought was clear enough to include even you. Would you rather next time I gave you a personal invite? Is that special enough for you? " She would not allow the mare to speak like that to her without getting some of it back at her. However this didn't solve anything for the herd and was better being dealt with in a more calmed matter..as she had learnt from facing Cain, she needed to gain control of her emotions. Stormcry had finally opened up and Prime intended to embrace that chance to settle the wrath once and for all. She took a deep inhale before she meet the hateful eyes, she was upset but she would keep it in control. If she could do so with the brutes she could do so with even her. "I never claim to be all knowing or almighty. I didn't question Khala's leadership, I was honest to admit that I won't be false and claim that she will have my trust nor the same bound I had to Cael. I wanted to gain more knowledge of her for the purpose of easing the change and build something of equal value. As for Ryder I didn't call him a traitor, that assumption was his alone. I merely called his actions of not tell anyone of his now prized deed or the fact that he never told me that he had gained a mate or a foal. A cowardly move for I refuse to call someone I see as a brother, anything but a part of this herd. As well as wanting to know if it did indeed benefit for this decision to be made with more reassuring claims than that Vasska will take us in because his not the same as Cain. I might have allowed my feelings to rush at the thought of losing a dear friend, forgive me but I will not stand by too be calm in that matter. Over and over you have made perfectly clear that I'm not wanted be it for either my persona or rank. Your spite in this case is one sided. I don't go around holding a ire towards anyone for that simple reason of personal preference. Khala, if you wish to have anyone else serve as a high guard I have no objections to it. It's clear Cael's judgment isn't enough as a settling fact to be equal the mind of some. I will serve this herd, which I have only been a part of for three years but feel as strong as if they were my own blood. No matter my rank in it." Prime turned her focus from Stormcry to Khala, frankly she was a little proud that she had been calm this far, perhaps she had learnt more from facing the brutes than she realized. It was almost as if she and Storm had switched personas. Still the mare's words..was there others that felt the same? Had she failed to be found worthy of their trust? Turning her focus the the crowd she lifted her head some, for she was as all proud to be apart of them. "If you all truly believe that this path is for the better, I have no further objections to speak of but I will not favor it. I can't.. knowing that with each phasing day is granted upon their sacrifice. Knowing that I should have been one of them if it hadn't been for Aurelie. Perhaps I'm too eager to take action but I'm sick of thinking of myself as a failure for not being able to do anything, I am a high guard to what use? If all I am allowed to do is to stand by and see that snake abuse and spit on my herd, my family! Is it so strange? That I wish to cause him the same if not worse lingering pain? I know it's against our codex but, I want justice to be served for all those mares they have tormented, all those colts they have mind twisted. So no matter which path we take, I will be going off to find the witch. For the purpose of being to better use for you all once the battle begin. " She walked up to Ryder and just as with Cael she bent her head down to touch his chest, she wasn't fighting them as some liked to believe. This wasn't the time for personal matter to be in center but it had been done as a result of not communicating with one another. The thought of having lost one more was enough to make her eyes wheel up with tears. "I know, this wasn't the time I just don't like the thought of... I can't lose you too.. " Her words faded as she sighed and looked her eyes on the blue once so alike his father, Leif. They could take her rank from her but they would never take her heart from this herd. I will be stronger, I will not let you down.

[ K H A L A ]
The silence lasted no longer than a few seconds, though time seemed to slow as the chimera tried to take in each horse's reaction around her. Granted, this was much harder that it seemed, as she had spent so long away from the herd that this much chaos was nearly enough to completely overwhelm her senses. In the midst of the painted mare's reaction to her statement of asking for a reply, and another of Prime's grand speeches, Stormcry approached her through the crowd. "Storm," Khala greeted her softly, a smile crossing her muzzle as well. With both the dark mare and Kanu at her side, her confidence rose to it's previous level, and in that instant, all of her reservations fell away. She was an Exile. She had trained all of her life to get here and had sacrificed everything for this herd. If it was her destiny to lead them, then she would charge in head-first and show them all that she was worthy.
Suddenly, support was flying in her direction, first from Storm, then Ryder, and then from Natalie. Ryder had ended with a question of her intend, and before she could answer again, Delvin answered for her. Yes, the herd would decide, though it already seemed that a majority was forming towards joining Olde. With each of their words, Khala nodded her agreement, giving each her full attention in turn to be sure she had heard all possible angles. The exception in these opinions, it seemed, being from Prime. As the High Guard spoke, the new leader felt her insides churn with rage. As her emotions reached a crescendo, the rocks at her hooves began to tremble, jumping about with soft pat-pat-patters as they hit other stones. "You want to know what I saw, Prime? Do you honestly want to know what happened to me?" she hissed beneath her breath, her thin, ribbed sides rising and falling as she drew a deep breath to calm herself. With ears turned sideways, she listened to Kanu's next reply, listening closely and trying to draw strength from his words. At least she would have him, if no one else. She continued to listen, processing what she would say when she again opened her mouth. At the moment, she was distraught that Prime had chosen to single out one horse to attack in this, and that, was Ryder. For a few, agonizing minutes, everything faded from her ears. She saw the others talking, yet none of their words reached through to her mind. It was after Prime spoke again that Khala could contain it no longer.
"ENOUGH!" she bellowed into the air, the ground beneath those standing near her shifted slightly and the pebbles again rattling beneath her hooves. Khala stepped forwards to stand before Prime, eyes draw to slits as she looked her straight in the eye. "Your passion is astounding, young one, and indeed, it is helpful to hear. But do not, for one second, think that you can get away with directly insulting another member of this herd. Keep your personal opinions of others to yourself, and if you have a problem, address it in private. I would expect one of your position to have learned this already. Being a leader means keeping your opinions to yourself, and extinguishing your own desires for the betterment of the whole. If you wish to leave now, and abandon your herd when we need you most, then so be it. Seek out Ba'Yagu and see if she holds your answers." The mare drew in a shaky breath, closing her eyes to hold back her own emotions. "Do not think that seeing Cael gone effects only you, Prime. I could not begin to describe the agony I, too, feel at learning what has become of her. We grew up together, as young fillies, taunting the colts and dreaming of becoming guards. To see her taken- No. This has hurt us all." Finally the mare turned away. "I wash my hooves of this. Do as you wish, but know that consequences may befall your decision. I would rather have loved to keep you in the High Guard. I trust Cael's choices, and I appreciate the challenges you present to be discussed." Khala then raised her head to address the herd as a whole.
"For those of you who have hinted at wanting to know," she gave Prime another pointed look from where she stood before Ryder, "I will tell you my tale, but first, and more importantly, we need to cast a vote. That is how this herd has always been run, and there is no sense in changing that now. There have been arguments made, and testimonies said. Before I announce the vote, who here has more to say regarding the matter?" She repeated herself from before, "Speak now, or forever hold your peace. Address the herd as a whole, here and now. I will give no further opinions until the casting of the vote. This is for you, the Exiles to decide, not I." (848 - sorry ^^ I tried to address everyone, and hopefully I got most of you in here!)
(ADMIN NOTE: THE WORD COUNT HAS INCREASED TO 600 AS A MAXIMUM. TRY AND KEEP IT UNDER THAT GUYS <3) (2nd ADMIN NOTE: IF YOU HAVEN'T VOTED FOR A CAPTAIN, DO SO ASAP. I WILL ANNOUNCE THE NEW ONE WITHIN KHALA'S NEXT FEW POSTS. ALSO, NEWS CONCERNING THE HIGH GUARDS WILL ALSO BE RELEASED. And don't worry, these aren't likely to change ;) )

[ Ryder ]
Ryder ground his teeth as the conversation continued. If there were any water around him, it would have been vibrating with his anger. Ever since the witch had given him his gift, he had made sure he practiced with it a bit each day, so he could help his herd in whatever way he could.
The brown paint's head swiveled as Stormcry broke into the conversation. It was an odd sight to see the normally calm mare, so flustered, and it was a hard sight to watch as two horses he considered friends lashed out at each other with words as sharp as hooves. Ryder took the chance to look around ther herd, and he caught Delvin's nod. Ryder returned one of his own in recognition. Delvin's approval meant a lot to the younger stallion, and he felt himself settle down slightly. When he returned his attention to Storm and Prime, it seemed Prime had spoken her piece and was making her way over to him. He understood her anger and frustration with his actions, but all of the recent events had happened so fast that even he had had a hard time to keep up with it all. Ryder bent his head, placing it on the appaloosa's withers. "I understand why you're so angry at me. I would be mad too. Everything happened so fast, and I was afraid of what you would think," he said in a comforting tone. Khala was right though. This was a personal matter and should be solved after their current predicament.
Ryder turned to look at the new Exile leader, giving her a nod partly out of respect and partly out of thanks. "You already know what I think. Olde is our best option. After we take down the Bachelors with them, we can get out herd mates back." The scout looked back at his mate and son. They had already been through so much. He couldn't imagine making things any harder on them.

Rowan | Guard
What a day to be off on his own. The bay roan was completely oblivious of, well, just about everything going on with the herd at that moment. His mind was a million miles away as he stood on a cliff overlooking the sea. He was only maybe a few yards, to a mile from the group, but it could have been worlds apart. His heart, and mind were torn. After current events in his own life, he felt conflicted and had for this reason, sought a moment of quite contemplation. More than anything he had begun to feel the need to get close to the Bachelor herd lately. Perhaps his uncle had passed, or be exiled himself and he could barter for his sister's freedom without consequence? But what did he have to offer? He refused to do as Kanu had...offering life as if it were something to barter with. Or perhaps without the watchful eye of his uncle he could simply sneak Hazel free has he had originally planed.
And then there was Prime. The time alone they'd spent on the beach...what had been said there...there was much to consider now that is life would no longer be his own to use as he pleased. Before meeting her, he'd have happily offered his life freely for any cause...but now...there was something worth living for...a reason he would HAVE to stay with the herd, stay safe, and alive for that matter. He hung his head a moment, the wind tugging fiercely at his mane, which masked his face.
With a heavy sigh he decided he was no closer to an answer, nor any ideas than he had been when he'd left and he had a duty to the herd to attend. He'd already spent enough time lazing about when he should be keeping a watchful eye on the others and so he reluctantly began to amble back towards the herd. However, just a few feet away he could hear the sounds of raised voices and arguing. Concerned, and thinking he had likely indeed stayed gone too long, and now something had happened in his absence, he ran the last few steps till he was at Prime's side, who appeared to be the center of some happening. Looking to her worriedly he decided it best to remain silent for the time being and gauge what was going on rather than burst in defensively as was his first instinct.

Prime || High Guard
Prime shook her head as Ryder spoke to her, that wasn't it at all. "I'm not mad at you...I'm sad that you didn't turn to me with any of it. My hatred is directed to no other than our enemies." She reassured him before Khala spoke to her. She knew she had crossed the line..again. Not intending for it to be a insult or taking in regards her rank she had spoken her mind with nothing but her emotions to back it up, she didn't understand the grasp of what it meant to be seen as a leader. She hadn't been a high guard for long and all she had gained from it was starting to change her. Even so the fact remained that while she had grown a lot this past months, Prime was still young and fueled by her strong spirit and feelings more than anything. So she couldn't let Khala, even if she did agree to most of what she spoke of remain silent with the claim that she would be abandoning them. Not when all she aspired to do was to become stronger for them to be of use to them. She didn't know if the witch held answers she sought but it was a start to gain her gift. "...I wouldn't do it with the intent to abandon anyone. I entrust this herd to make the travel across this land without me, you all have done what no other herd has ever done before and I refuse to believe that I have any other part in it than to be granted to be part of it. Cael gained much from Ba'Yagu perhaps this is something I need to do, in order to become the high guard this herd deserves. If you will still have me as one. I will return swiftly, I will not let you down."
As Rowan came to her side the mare rested her head upon his withers, a shiver ran over her tense muscles she had failed him in the remark of attempting to save his sister along with the others. Her words nothing more than a tear filled whisper against his warm cheek. "Forgive me, but your sister will have to endure a bit longer.." She bit her lips together harshly as if she was ashamed to admit it to him, in truth she was because once more she was restrained from taking action. She took a moment just to linger in his presence..his scent, calming as he stood firmly as a rock at her side when she felt like she was about to tremble to bits. She wanted nothing more than to settle this right here and now to rid herself of this unnerving feeling of being powerless. As Khala spoke up again the mare raise her head but remained silent, she knew she had lost and would not spices Stormcry's ire towards her with not accepting it.

Rae
As the mare Khala spoke with her wisdom and about her history with Cael, Rae instantly felt terrible for how rude she'd been. This horse was Cael's friend and obviously had no intention of abandoning the former leader. She looked up at the former exile and now exile leader, feeling badly for how she had treated her. She was just so worked up. She wanted to tell everyone how she felt, but she just didnt know how. And if she did, oh boy how she would tell the world, how insane this all was. Why couldn't everyone just live in peace.
Instead, she made peace herself. She got down on her knees in a bow, her forehead pressed to the dirt for Khala. The best apology she knew how to show.

Rowan | Guard
Firm as the tree he was named for, Rowan stood silent, but strong. He knew bits and pieces of what had been happening over the last several days. He knew a deal had been struck with the Bachelor herd's new leader, and that Cael had left them. The idea of it still burned in his chest. It was further reasons that stoked his inner turmoil and desire to go to the Bachelor herd himself, but having lived so long as a shadow to the herd, he was finding old habits hard to break. As strongly as he might feel about events at hand, and with his newly attained rank, he still didn't feel he had a right to speak. Not like Prime who always spoke her mind, regardless of thought. They were quite literally each others balancing opposite in this way. However, he did know well how to speak with his gestures alone, and he spoke volumes now.
With unintended habits of his life back as a Bachelor, he stood very tall, and wore an expression that dared anyone to continue speaking to his mate in any tone he would deem inappropriate. It wasn't his nature to be so protective, but then, much had changed about him as well. He glanced to Ryder who had reappeared with what appeared to be his own mate, and a foal. Another factoid he'd missed in his absence, and he only offered a curious raised brow in the stallion's direction. However, his attention was no on Prime with her words to leaving to seek the Witch. There was still some sign of his upbringing as he frowned disapprovingly at the mention of the mare. "Prime, what are you talking about....you told me nothing of leaving the herd? Why would you not speak to me about this?" he asked keeping his voice low for only her ears, and a genuine look of hurt in his eyes. He couldn't help but feel damaged that she would keep such an important and possibly life changing decision from him, especially after everything...

Kanu || Current Exile Captain
As Storm left Khala's side and made her way down to Prime, her head held high and a bitter air about her, Kanu by no means went to stop her. He knew very well what she was about to do, Prime had taken Storm's position as high guard and it pained Storm, Kanu knew once and for all that Storm needed closure with Prime, and he would let her find that in whatever way she saw fit. Although her words weren't ideal, and Prime simply retaliated, not to just Storm- but to Kanu himself, he tensed up, but didn't say a word. Ever since that deal was made he had felt an immense amount of guilt weight down on his shoulders, he had already received enough guilt for it, did Prime ever stop?
He shuddered, but before he had any chance to speak his words, Khala did so herself. She said exactly what Kanu would have, only there would have been a more spiteful tone escaping his lips. Although his anger was slowly rising, Kanu by all means was very good at staying calm, from the outside you wouldn't have even known his inner turmoil.
"Cael and I didn't grow up together, but I looked up to her for many years. When she dubbed me Captain, I decided then and there that I'd do anything in my power to protect her and the herd. Although she is not with us at the moment, I still have all of you. You are all I have, every single one of you are all I stand for- all I live for. I do not want to be on the other end of your knife." He begun, his words calmly spoken and rolling off his tongue with ease. He begun to calm down quickly, his heart slowing until it was beating evenly.
Instead of lashing out at Prime, he nodded at her, "Prime. You are an acceptable high guard, you have done your duties for the herd and I have not seen you falter-" He paused for a moment, "-Obviously you seem to have a quick wit about you, but, the good outweighs the bad in this situation and I would hate to see one of our stronger Exiles leave on their own accord- especially you." He finished, before turning to Khala. "I suggest we go to Olde, Vasska is a safer bet than Cain." He said, quietly, just for benefit of the doubt.
He smiled then at Rae, who had seemed to put her demons to rest and come to terms with Khala being the new leader. Kanu lived for this, he had his doubts, but seeing his family all rise up stronger than before reminded him of how lucky he was to be apart of such a herd.
"We will show Cain, we will show him that even though we disagree, and even though he can take our members- he cannot shake our spirit and he cannot break our bond. We are stronger than he'll ever be. Not by brute force but simply by means of reassurance, kindness and an utter stubbornness that keeps us alive. Exiles cannot be pushed over, for we will not stay down."

Prime || High Guard
"..because I settled my mind upon the decision no sooner than in this moment. I admit that I had thoughts of it ever sense the encounter with Cain, I can't face elites that big with the goal to beat them as I am now. I wanted to give my own plot of deception a open consideration of the whole herd in a try to aid the captives as a unit before I made the decision. I won't be leaving this herd Rowan, I will take measures to make a difference for it with becoming stronger too put up a heck of a fight for them..for you. My words mean nothing if I can't see them thru with actions and that is what I intend to do. Both in regards to this war and in marrying you." She declares in a voice filled with purest honesty, allowing all to hear the last of it and placed a tender kiss upon his lips..in front of the whole herd?! Never before would she have dreamt of do such a thing even if it caused her cheeks to blossom in heat, her chest was filled with nothing but a eternal flame burning for the precious roan bay. She would never leave him. "I am more the proud to soon be able to call you mine. I have no intention of leaving you or anyone to face those brutes without me. No way. I merely wish to be better prepared for it, to better the odds."As she caught sight of his hurt look, she could feel her heart twist together. Not him..anyone else but him..she couldn't bare to see him like this.. Carefully she nuzzled his forehead as if she could ease his mind just with a touch. Lowering her voice for him alone as she brushed her muzzle against his cheek."Please Rowan..don't look so sad, can't you if any se that I'm doing this for you..I want to be force to reckon with and having my gift will be a good first step to grant that wish to be of better use for this herd."
As she heard Kanu address her, Prime turned her focus to him. Knowing he wasn't without his own passionate spark for this herd, however his actions or rather lack of them was making it a difficult task to take his words to heart. Out of what respect she still held for the equine she gave a slight nod to his words. It is for the benefit of the herd that we should remain united..but not this time. I need to be stronger. Prime couldn't help but to smile at the Rae's grand gesture towards Khala. It was a admirable thing that even when it might seem like chaos grabbed a hold of the herd someone always pulled thru to inspire others to follow. Though the question still lingered in her mind, in a herd so full of strong wills would they manage to settle their difference aside and join this as the unit they all spoke so passionately of? Prime looked towards Stormcry and then towards Khala. There was no need for her to speak to any of them, they knew her stand point. Her fiery gaze returning to land upon Rowan, she knew of his desires to return but just like her own for the herd it wasn't possible to see thru in this moment.

[ Ryder ]
His blue eyes softened a bit at the appaloosa mare. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to cause so much grief. If you plan on seeking out the witch, I'll warn you now that she's hard to find. Trust me. It took me quite awhile to find her to receive my gift, but I understand why you want yours. If you need any help, I can get some herbs for your journey," he said, offering as much help as he could. He knew that there would be no dissuading Prime once her mind was set on something. She was strong and fiery that way, and her strength also came with persistence. It might not have been an ideal time to leave the herd, but maybe she would stumble across Ba'yagu on the way to Olde.
As Rowan entered the scene, Ryder dipped his head at the guard stallion that was Prime's mate. He averted his eyes as they whispered to one another about something that seemed urgent. Ryder let his blue eyes wander over the herd, and he spotted Rae bowing to Khala, showing her agreement and respect in the only way that she could. Ryder gave the paint mare a grin and nod of approval. He was happy to see his herd finally coming to some sort of agreement. Kanu was right about one thing. The Exiles could not stay down. They rose up from the ashes of their island, and they would take back their herdmates and defeat these brutes once and for all!

~Liora~
The paint mare could not believe her ears. Her words had gone unnoticed by almost all except Delvin who acknowledged her little speech with a swish of his tail at her side. Liora felt embarrassed and a bit... angry? Liora never really got angry at anyone. She usually kept her demeanor under unsettling circumstances. But today was an unusual day for them all. The amount of arguing had risen, and had turned away from the important subject at hand of what they would do as a whole herd. This made Liora furious. Knowing her kin were suffering in the hands of the Bachelors and the other horses were bickering over dislikes for one another.
Liora couldn't take all of it for much longer. Her blood was starting to boil as everyone's words spun up in her head like a tornado. Not wanting the fight to escalate, Liora lunged herself between Storm and Prime. A deep glare was shot at both of them. She didn't know either of the mares well. In fact, she had hardly spoken any words to them. Yet, Liora wasn't going to sit around anymore, remain shy and let the importance of this meeting get turned into bloodshed on the wrong enemy.
Before she could allow words to pass her lips, Khala spoke out in a harsh tone at the two causing troubles. Liora then felt awkward between them, not knowing exactly what to do but stand there still as they got an earful from Khala. The Arabian mix agreed entirely with what the mare spoke. She addressed the mares in a way that Liora wish she had the guts to do. Before she could realize exactly what she had done, Liora was just standing in the middle of the group now, looking a bit scared but mostly embarrassed more than she had ever been before. She froze up like a tree, making no movement what-so-ever as she calculated what to do next. Only her eyes shifted towards Delvin, hoping he could provide some sort of answer that could make her feel a little less awkward in her current situation.

{S T O R M C R Y}
It seemed her words barely passed through Prime’s brain before the paint was retaliating sharply, forcing Storm’s words that had at last been set free down into her stomach in a tightly convulsing lump of tension. As the High Guard spoke in response, a pretty palomino paint mare flung herself bravely between them, in the way of her fury, and Storm’s brow furrowed and she gave the mare- Liora, she believed- a small shake of her head. She would not cause Prime harm- yet. The black mare bit her tongue harshly to stop further atrocities from passing her lips as the appaloosa went on grandly, for Khala already seemed angry and had enough to deal with, though hatred of her self-centered opposition curdled in her stomach. Rowan was by Prime’s side now, close enough to hear if she argued further, but everyone would know now of her dislike so he would find out eventually, though it pained her. She quite liked the roan-bay, but knew that he most likely would want nothing to do with her now for hating his mate. Stormcry sighed outward tiredly, resorting to the fact that few seemed to side with her belief that Prime was not suitable nor deserving of her position.
“Do what you like.” She spoke more normally now, though it was not without bitterness. “But know that blood shed from these innocents you plan to betray by leaving them for your own desires will be in your name and in your foolishness.” Storm swung her gaze to Rowan as she closed her mouth with a gaze that showed regret for the friendship with him that she would likely lose, before she turned back to Khala. “I have no quarrel with leaving for Olde.” She voted wearily, a tone in her voice that was resigned, as though she had given up. Both highest position holders had confirmed Prime an acceptable High Guard; Storm’s refusal to associate with her had been ignored, her warning that the appaloosa was not a worthy choice. She began to leave for a spot on the outskirts of the herd, but paused to look at Liora. “You were brave to get between us like that. I…apologize that you had to see me act in such a way.”

~ Shiya ~
Thoughts were occupied by the painted mare's words before Shiya involuntarily backed away from the herd at Stormcry's vicious tone. There was no way she wanted to on it's receiving end. Even though her ears flicked back and her tail twitched nervously at this fight with words, the mare rose and leaned her head side to side, trying to get a better view. Despite her need for caution, she was always a curious one, even when she was a foal. What got these two to hate each other so much?
Quietly she listened on, flinching severely when this Khala yelled. Why did there have to be so much yelling, screaming and sharp words...? Wait, a vote?? Stretching her head up as if to hear Khala better. Address...as in speak in front of all the herd?! A cold sweat trickled down her neck at the thought. She was comfortable with talking to one or couple horses at a time, but the whole herd to hear her voice. But what was it everyone seem to tell her...everyone had a voice and everyone had the right to speak. With a nervous gulp, Shiya tentatively crept forward after Stormcry seemed to have the last say to the appaloosa mare. She could only hope she doesn't make herself look like an idiot.
"Not w-wise to stay...But..not smart..to..go back...south..." Feeling eyes on her, Shiya trembled briefly before she tensed herself up. "Just..want to be.....safe." I want to go home...

((Delvin))
The bay scout was quickly remembering just why he left the herd in the first place all those years ago. He understood why the two mares were going at it like a pair of cougars; everyone was scared and nervous, and that led to all sorts of emotional outbursts like these, but bloody hell he wished they would stop. He huffed an irritated sigh. He was going to be the one shouting in a minute, he thought with a glare aimed at no one in particular. Suddenly, he felt the mare beside him stiffen, and he gave her a sideways glance only to watch her stomp with purpose towards the feuding Guards. The pale mare didn't say anything, but instead put herself in between them. Khala, however, had other methods. Their new leader cut the chatter with a powerful decree, "ENOUGH!" and every horse had the sense to shut their mouths and listen to what she had to say.
Delvin found himself nodding along to the mare's words, and by the time she concluded her speech, he was confident this was the leader they needed right now. One who wasn't afraid to take control, and more importantly, take action. He felt eyes upon him, and he spotted Liora, now looking entirely out of place in the midst of the action. He glanced at the two guard mares, then to Khala. Liora's actions and their leader's words had managed to quiet them, for now. Turning his gaze back on the scout, he gave her a short, affirming nod, and it seemed one of the feuding guards was acknowledging her good-intentions as well. He felt an odd sense of pride for the paint mare; who was quite timid when he first met her. He set his eyes upon the dark guard again, and cleared his throat, "Indeed. My vote lies with the Olde as well," he stated, trying to keep the begrudging tone out of his voice. He had to remind himself this was their best option, no matter how much it bothered him to have to seek out the Unicorn-Worshipers for help. (352)

{Efflorescence}
Effie felt she could no longer quell the silence, the conversation had moved quickly and Prime had openly created a verbal attack on Ryder she turned to Prime, a fire in her eyes"He didn't run for himself, he didn't want to leave - he went to find a better place. He did it for me. He did it for our child. Do not openly accuse my mate of anything, whatever grievances you have with him stop now, we are on the brink of war and you pick on petty things such as leaving the herd, we came home, we came back when it mattered." She pinned her ears and snapped her teeth, placing herself in front of Ryder, when a golden mare leapt in front of her, she was a little shocked, she smiled gently.
She approached Khala, and looked her dead in the eyes "Khala, take control. You're our new leader we need guidance." Effie paused momentarily "We are just screaming at each other, it cannot go on. I suggest we either fight with the Bachelors try to take the Olde lands and claim them as our own, or we fight side by side with the Oldes and take the bachelor lands as ours, we need land" she shrugged and eyed the new leader with a cold calculating look, some would call it menacing "Sum up each opponent, who has the most land - which will benefit us better?" her face became emotionless, she favored neither side, but the Oldes were diffidently the lesser of two evils. "So what now?" she blinked slowly and swiveled her ears listening to the others shouting at each other.
