Gaius | The Exiles | Guard
Hearing her humorous excuse for the contact and shrieking, Gaius lifted his head slightly to look at her very-much-failed facade of disinterest, still chuckling all the while. He could tell she was trying to hide something- most likely the terror that was seconds ago- painted all over her facial features; he assumed anyway. He wagered his snickering wasn't helping the cause either as it was near-crumbling in front of him.
It was hilarious. As cruel as it may sound the grullo took in amusement from seeing the Sliver Buckskin seep to common-foal frights. The best part, however, was when he witnessed her play it off, shrugging the event like it had never happened, like running into him never happened.
'Play me as a fool much' He thought jokingly.
It took the Guard some time to finally simmer down before finally having the air to speak, "The lighting, huh?" Gaius asked teasingly, smirking as he began to lean further in. "Man, never thought you'd be the kind to get spooked from that. Seems to me like there are a lot of surprises today"
Even if he sounded confident as well as looking the part- he was screaming inside from the still-too-close proximity between the two.

Her playing coy didn't work at all. Her eyebrows fell in annoyance with herself before snickering softly with him. His laughter was quite contagious, though she wasn't sure if she was laughing at him or herself. Turning her head back to face him, she clonked her head into his muzzle accidentally, giving a soft squeak of a yelp in surprise. Leaning her head away from his now she looked at him with her closer eye, keeping the other shut.
"I'm not usually spooked by that kind of stuff, thank you very much." She giggled, shaking out her head, which caused her neck and withers to shake as well, until it passed down her body and flicked her long damp tail. "I just wasn't paying attention to the storm, that's all."
Picking up her front leg, she frowned down at the mud that was now forming under them from the abundance of rain. The soil was getting soft, which meant the river was going to be a little fuller then usual.
Hopefully it wont flood too much.
Looking back up at Gaius, she rose an eyebrow at him curiously. "I don't remember if i asked you your rank yet, did I?"

Gaius | The Exiles | Guard
The sudden bash to his chin shot a numbing pain to spread around the area, sizzling his sensitive nerving system and making him wince on contact. It was unexpected and had his brain automatically going into overload; racking through the unreasonable yet possible causes before finally comprehending properly- mind fuzzy for the few seconds. Once realizing, the mishap almost had triggered another fit but Gaius was sure he had full control over it, not saying he didn't let out an amused snort when Nef had yelped at the accident. He decided to raise his head a tad to not let it happen again if either of them moved, propping his back leg up to have a more relaxing position all the while. His back was becoming unbearably stiff from standing in the same stance for so long-- from being so tense for so long, he may add.
Hearing the question, the stallion takes his time to observe the area again, noting that the ground started to be less grass and more mud- possibly too soft to comfortably walk on without sinking; adding that the vegetation surrounding them looked near-drowned. Everything soaked from the merciless rain that seemed to be never ending. However as he glances over to his right he can tell that the storm is seizing up, now down to soft sprinkling with only low thunder over head, barely audible. He was glad it will be over soon.
"My rank, huh?" He questioned, tilting his head as if he had to think about it, " Ah, well- it's not much but I'm one of many Guards back at my herd. Since I was small I always wanted to be apart of authority in some way, even if it's a minor one. To contribute I guess." Looking back he adds, "What about you, Sunshine?"

"Oh a Guard? How'd you-" She stopped as she heard him ask her rank. A look of sheer bafflement washed over her face followed by a sly, sarcastic look.
He cant be serious right now, by the Unicorns...
"Alrighty there, Daffodil, I'll give you one guess." Her tone changed to a taunting one, as if she were talking to a foal. "But if you need more I'll let you go ahead, you big cutie." Her lips were now pursed again as her voice drifted through them, snorting softly as she tried to hold back her snickering. She'd already told him at least once, and if he didnt remember by that, he surely would've guessed by her attitude towards him when they encountered each other.

Gaius | The Exiles | Guard
Dark ears were pinned quickly and neon green eyes became narrowed as the male shifted away from the mare and circled around her to meet emerald eyes upfront. Hearing her voice change in vocal tone bothered the Exile greatly, he felt like a trouble-ridden foal being teased for his antics. He tried oh-so desperately to ignore the word 'cutie' that had came from the Olde's mouth; it will only end with him hyperventilating and bolting off, by the unicorns this was so awkward for him to hear. Sure he wasn't thinking and had asked her a question she had already answered for him long ago today but the teasing, he can't handle that! It was irritating, but, he couldn't turn away from this opportunity to turn this situation around; if this was her way of a game, so be it. So discomforting.
Scoffing, Gaius answers boldly "A Knight.. I don't need to have a handicap to answer that- it just slipped my mind." Inching closer with a grin widely spreading across his lips, breaking all signs of his once passive-like nature he adds sarcastically, "Besides, seems to me like you need a crown since you're too great for what you are."

Cackling softly she gave a soft snort as she tried to catch her breath. She stopped for a moment, smiling widely at the stallion as he leaned closer to her, looking quite unphased by his antics. After hearing Gaius's first statement, she opened her mouth to reply with her mocking tone once more, but the words never left her mouth. As he spoke again, the mares eyes went from childish to silent fury as the sarcasm floated through the rain. Closing her eyes and smiling again, now venomous but still playful, she decided to play this game fairly.
"Well, I'm glad we can both agree on that." Picking her head up, her lips curled into a sly grin. "Maybe when i become a Queen, I'll show you some mercy. After all, I would need someone in-charge of keeping me supplied with flower crowns~. Why not you Daffodil?"

Gaius | The Exiles | Guard
A low growl erupted from his throat, barely audible to the ears but very much there as his face faltered into annoyance for a fraction of a second. It took him sometime to convince himself that this was all just a game they were both playing and to give in would clearly make him the loser- He won't back down from this, even if her words were a shut down for everything he thought was clear. They were back to square one it seemed and as much as he hated to admit it, but it was disappointing. He made sure to clear his face from any emotion as he glances in any direction besides the Sliver Buckskin in front of him, anything that will cool his head off from the insulting words.
Neon eyes then spotted something that had made the male break out into a small grin before having it disappear again.
'Perfect' He swivels over to a low hanging branch just above the mare, dangerously close to down-pouring the small collection of water at it's base. Taking it into consideration he took cautious steps to not let the mare become suspicious of his actions as he neared closer. Once stationed right next to it, enough to bump it he spook, voice dry and toneless, depicting no emotion a like his eyes. "Oh, I'm sure you're Majesty, you would just love to have me supply you. But I think I can also supply royalty with something else as well-" He then turns to the branch above "Perhaps helping you with a bath?" Quickly Gaius raises onto his hind-legs, taking the branch between his teeth and tugged hard. All the water that has seeped up from the long hour of rain washed over the mare under it as the once sheltering branch gave the storm access to sprinkle her with more drops. The sight made the Guard burst into a fit, a victorious laugh as he moves further away at a safe distance.
'Score one'

She rose an eyebrow at him curiously, watching him move towards the branch. The smile faded away from her lips as she tried to understand what he was doing. Her ear closest to him perked up as she listened to him speak, still unsure of what he was doing.
A bath? How could he-
Her thoughts were cut as she watched him rear, grabbing the branch and dousing the mare with a cold rush of water. A yelp escaped her lips as she jolted upright when the cascading water soaked her pelt. Lunging forward out of the way of the water, she groaned loudly as she tried to shake out her coat. Coming to a stop she turned and looked at Gaius, a look of pure annoyance very noticeable in both her body language and her eyes.
He couldn't win, she wouldn't let him win. But she was soaked, and she was cold, so she was running out of ideas. I'll get him later...
"Alright Gaius, you win." She forced a laugh, trying to regain a calm state, first by relaxing her body and then her tone. Raising her head back up to its normal resting position, she stepped back to her place closer to the stallion. "But you better watch yourself, I don't forget things like that." Her lips stretched into a sly smiled once more. "And I'll be sure to repay you when I can."

Gaius | The Exiles | Guard
Unfazed by the mare's threat, Gaius moved closer to only a foot between them, deeming it safe to advance forward. Smirking as he straightened himself to tower over her with eyes glittering with challenge and disbelief. He made sure that she knew he had won and that to bring payback upon him will be a more difficult challenge then one would accept. It may seem childish to others, but it was damn-good entertainment than what he had in the past 7 years.
"Oh I'm sure you will, Sunshine," he started, "But let's make something clear." Gaius curved his neck over so he faced downwards, close enough to where there is only a few inches apart from each-other. An attempt to playfully intimate the other.
"Whatever you do,
I hope you won't regret it."

Nefertiti stood her ground, not even moving her head when Gaius leaned in to try and intimidate her playfully. Her sly grin curled the corners of her lips now, furrowing her brows together to show she accepted his challenge. Flipping her head shortly to move her forelock out of her eyes, hitting Gaius in the face with a wet slap before falling to the side.
"Oh trust me Sweet-Cheeks, You'll be the only one regretting it." The mare snickered before shaking out her coat once more. "You see, I know just about every inch of land in Olde, the beasts, the plants, everything. And thus..." She rose her head back up, leaning closer to him to push her own form of intimidation to him, now only less than a hand between them, now speaking in a whisper. "I have the advantage."

Gaius | The Exiles | Guard
Gaius jerks his head back quickly as he was suddenly slapped by Nef's soaked forelock, scoffing at the remaining dribbles of water that slowly ran down his muzzle and cheek. The added moisture seemed to add on to his tempering mood that had yet to settle properly. It was then that he noticed her taking in the small proximity between each-other, leaning in closely as the mare's words were in a dangerously light whisper that made him cringe uncomfortably. It was something about it that made the stallion break inside- if it was good or bad- he didn't know at this point. However he did make the effort in blocking out the -yet another- profound name she had referred to him as.
Raising an eyebrow towards Nef, he leans back, the ever-present smirk forming into a mocking grin. "Of course you would. I don't doubt that, but" narrowing his eyes in challenge he adds "If we were to take this knowledge into account. Would you be so very kind in showing me around perhaps?"

"Oh now why would i give away my only advantage?" She rose her eyebrows at him, turning her head slightly, her smile more relaxed now as she started to calm. Maybe it wasn't such a bad idea to show him around? He'd not been here within what might have been all of his remembered life. Plus it had been a while since she'd been on a good adventure, at least with someone who didn't know the land. "I mean, I could show you one or two places, but that'd be it. Then it's straight to the King!" She straightened herself back up authoritatively, regaining her regal pose once more though playfully. Nef laughed softly at herself before relaxing back down. "What do you say to that?"

Gaius |The Exiles | Guard
The Guard froze at the mention of being brought to the Olde herd's king- it was the very last thing he wanted since he stepped a hoof onto the land. He mentally panicked, wondering if the mare was being serious or not; this wasn't a joke to take lightly- not for him. True to his word he wanted to venture around the area, to be in step with his deceased mother whom was here so long ago; he wanted to see the sights she'd seen, he craved the same experience she had in her early foalhood. But there was a lot of things that stood in his way, and it irked him to no end. Gaius had no right to be here, he knew this, and yet he felt like he had every right to be here because he had brought no misfortune to the members, no grief and destruction, no worry- so why was he such a problem? He'd never know.
Taking in a shaky breath, he exhaled slowly. Looking off into the deep woodland that surrounded him, each luminescent tree differing from each other- unique from each other. They had the originality that he didn't. His bubbling mood completely diminished, having no effort in the battle they seem to throw back at each other.
"I'm curious about your land, Sunshine.." Gaius spoke dryly, eyes barely blinking "I'd rather not meet your king.. If it's too much trouble to show me around, than at least show me my way out... I'd appreciate that at least"

Her smile faded as his mood seemed to shift again, now back to a emotionless state almost. It felt like tiny beasts were snapping in her chest as the stallion asked for a way out. Something inside herself told her he shouldn't go, so she looked to the ground, as if an answer would be written in the grass.
"Well, I could take you to one of his advisers if nothing else? It doesn't say i have to take you to the king himself, just someone above me." Nef forced a small, comforting smile at him, giving a soft chuckle. "I was terrified to meet the king for the first time too, so i don't blame you. And that was King Valentin."
She watched to see if his expression changed before adding. "C'mon, you'll love it here, trust me." She stepped closer to him, bopping her muzzle against the side of his playfully.

Gaius | The Exiles | Guard
The dark stallion craned his bald head to the right side, feeling the mare nudge his muzzle playfully had left a small smile to appear lightly on his lips- barely visible but defiantly there and a small, friendly flush. The gesture was reassuring in a sort, however... The situation was more or less not. He had the option of turning around and head back for the Exiles OR possibly encounter the higher ups of the Olde herd and potentially live here once again- with reason- with purpose. His chest swelled at the thought and by guessing, he surely had made up his mind. But what are the costs..? It's only logically to have a desire to come back to such a place but there are the rules and regulations that come with it and to go against them were- unthinkable. He knew this.
"I'm sure I would- but..." Gaius stopped himself. His static voice wavered slightly between his innertermoil of decision making. He was unsure of himself at the moment- he felt like an idiot. Shaking his head to rid himself of thought he turned back to Nef with a shaky and small smile. He tried his best to put himself back together, to start over to his welcoming nature- it was harder said then done. "So, how about you take me up on that tour of yours? If I'm going to stay for awhile, I guess I'll have to get to know the lay of the land, huh?"
Where was this confidence?
What are these weird words coming from his mouth- these lies?
He hadn't made his decision...
He's lying to himself...
'I may be lying to her...'
