Time: Year 401 (Before War) Rating: PG
Brief Plot Summary: Gaius, one of the Exile's Guards has ventured far into the Olde territory with stubborn determination to stay; leaving his herd behind with a frail amount of regret and guilt stirring within him. The stallion wishes of returning to his long, forgotten home once more. He is desperately seeking out a way to find reason for his actions and happens to stumble upon a pale mare, a Knight of Olde. Later of introduction, their bond had progressed yet they soon realized that they have failed to see the hints thrown back at each other. It was by this time that another Knight had joined the party- however the individual just so happened to be a past acquaintance of Gaius' and takes him by great surprise. Will he finally have a chance to stay and for good? What will happen with the forming bonds? Will this be tied or will be quickly broken off?
Characters: Gaius Nefertiti Tamera (Begins on page 5) Gaius | The Exiles | Guard
The early afternoon sun flared among the clear sky, beaming down on the florescent treetops as the matching grass sways ever so slightly with the cooling breeze. Off in the distance quiet footsteps are barely heard as a dark figure weaves its way through hastily in cautious stealth, clearly trying to not create unwanted attention as it sneaks its way further into the underbrush. At a clearing the foreign figure stops to rest the sore legs due to such a far travel; the white markings on the dark coat contrasts each other more from the bright scenery around it. It seemed so peaceful on this side, such a calming touch that cannot be ignored; it's a simple paradise. ..Yet the male sighed. He had spent many days- years even, planning to step foot in the Olde herd once more: a mission of his personally. However what he was doing still made the grullo feel the burning emotion of cold, hard guilt for sneaking off from the exiles. The green eyed male felt like he had betrayed the members when he once vowed to stay but.. no one can keep him away from his true home, regardless of what he'll face, Gaius simply wants to leave a grieving past behind him.. but how? The terrible and bone shivering outcomes he'd face if he were to be caught- yes, today he was truly afraid. At the very moment, every careful step further is a sentence to borderline punishment of either herd considering the two herds follow up of recent events that had taken place. 'All in good measure.. right?'

The air was finally starting to cool as the heavy heat of the day had passed, and a north wind started blowing in for the evening. A wide oak sat over the top of the tallest hill in the eastern fields, just south of the Shatter Lands. The wind brought with it the sweet smell of the flowers that now bloomed in the tall grass, which was a nice change into the warm air. A dainty, white-gold Arabian stood watch over the fields, to insure no horses dare cross into their land unnoticed. Her white mane floated in the breeze like strands of light snow, her olive eyes alert, yet calm.
Looking out towards the coast, her eyes fell on the blue waters of the sea. Sighing softly as the sound of crashing waves faintly reached her, as well as a low rumble. A storm was coming in for the night, and the tall thunderheads sat over the blue surface of the water, growing fatter.
Her eyes lowered back onto the tall grass which was moving in shimmering waves with the strong breeze, and then she saw him. The dark hide in the bright green grass was almost well hidden. Nefertiti's eyes stayed on him, looking over his coat to see if she could recognize him from a distance.
I wonder...
She lowered her head and trotted as quickly and quietly as she could through the grass, never taking her eyes off him. She circles in front of him widely, trying to cut him off from going further inland, should he run. Her guess was he was either exile or bachelor, and he had traveled quite far to get here since she could smell the saltwater on his coat.
Only a few feet away now, she decided to slowly raise her head out of the grass, looking almost like a cougar.
"Who are you stranger?" Her voice rang out like church bells, it was firm but gentle. Her eyes locked on him, and she braced herself to either run or defend herself if need be.

Gaius | The Exiles | Guard
The Grullo had taken it upon himself to close his bright eyes to enjoy the dainty breeze that had made it's way through the trees. It was such a pleasant day alas the storm that would soon follow it. He couldn't turn down the opportunity of such a delightful feeling rushing it's way around his body and through his damp strands- rustling them about even more and looking oddly unkempt. However... he heard movement... He opened his eyes slowly and tentatively surveyed the area around him, trying to find any source that could have made the erupted sound. Yet there was nothing. Out of all his years of training to become a guard for the Exiles; he mentally scolded himself for being so unclear in his sightings. Gaius knows for a fact that there is, indeed, something out there- not far from where he was situated. But where? So baffled by the mysterious noise, he had yet to notice movement in front of him before it was too late. A figure's head arouse from the bushes of his front, from a side view it appeared to be cougar. The stallion got into a stance, preparing himself for the predator to soon attack yet when it was into full view his eyes widen- It was a horse- Not any horse- An Olde member... "Damn..." Gaius mutters under his breathe for the unfortunate discovery that he has been indeed caught. He relaxed into a slouched manner; making his appearance to become lazy. He didn't expect the mare to talk so suddenly; however the question was the least surprise for him. The Guard refused to answer, staring the member down- trying to figure her out, to see her next move. He gave her nothing but silence and tense eyes.

The green eyes of the knight rest on his, never wavering from them. She was quite short compared to him, but that didn't make a difference in her mind. This dainty creature was was quite a fast one, and she knew she could get out of his reach quite easily. If not by speed than familiarity with the land.
Blinking her long lashes, the mare stomped her leg impatiently against his silence. The wind picked up again and blew her mane out of her face and flowed into the air.
"It would do you well to answer me..." You goddamned nuisance. She thought to herself silently. Never one for patience, Nefertiti found it much shorter than usual when coupled with insubordination.
Who did he think he was? Waltzing into her kings land and blatantly refusing to explain himself. She was doing him a kindness, honestly. If a stallion or more brutish knight had found him first, he'd been running back for the coast or caught in a fight to the death.

Gaius | The Exiles | Guard
The Guard's lime green eyes slide down to the mare's legs, noticing the hasty movement as she stomps her hooves in noticeable impatience; usually such an action would nearly bring the male into bustling fits of laughter- however it did not this time. There was so much to the Olde member's body language that made him become tense, a feeling that was not often harbored inside the male. He narrowed his eyes as she once again spoke, this time with a hard tone laced in, nothing a like the one before. He knew he had to say something. "Calm down there, sunshine," Gaius said with a sigh, eyes softening while tilting his head up and looking off to the side "Can't a guy walk around alone without any one becoming so suspicious?"

"Sunshine? Excuse me?" She hissed between her teeth, narrowing her gaze at him and straightening her neck to its full height. It wasn't the fact of the pet name that offended her, it was the fact that he was a filthy trespasser who used one for her. That wasn't gonna fly in her book.
Flaring her nostrils and letting out a huff, the dainty mare kept her now piercing eyes on him. Stomping her foot once more, she held her head up, looking down her nose at him.
"I'll have you know, Sir, as a Knight of Olde it is my duty- Nay the Honor! To know each and every member by both their appearance and name! And you sir, are no equine I've ever seen." Her eyes darted up and down him once more to be sure of herself as she spoke. "Now state your name and your business!"

Gaius | The Exiles | Guard
The stallion remarkably cringed at her reaction- sure it was likely for her to become so enraged at his sarcasm but- her posture was so, so... unholy. He hated it! 'Someone please give this mare a crown!' He thought sarcastically to himself. Oh, how much he hates those who raise their heads to him and look down their nose, it makes him feel less of what he was- like he was one of those low lives a like his father- it disgusts him. Gaius cannot be seen like that, he can't! Not by her, not by the herd, not by anyone dammit! "Listen here," He grunts out monotonously, "I'm not here for any trouble if you think that's what's going on... It's understandable under you're position however- There is nothing you need to whine about." With hesitation he finishes "If it means anything at all- name's Gaius. "

Lowering her head a tad, she looked him over again to see if she could see if he was lying. She had never been really good at telling when someone is lying if it weren't obvious of course, but he didn't need to know that. Something about this stallion made it easy to trust him, and so she nodded her head in agreement.
"Well, Gaius, What brings you here to the Isle of Olde?" She rose one of her eyebrows at him, her look still piercing and absolute, though her posture seemed to relax slightly.
Nefertiti was a curious creature by nature, so even if the questions weren't part of regulation, she would've asked them herself. She was always interested to hear the stories of other horses, and share in their history a bit, no matter who they may be.

Gaius | The Exiles | Guard
Upon the rather personal question, unintentional from the mare, Gaius snorted once more while looking off to the side in self-restrain shimmering in his eyes, giving his emotions away of sad remembrance. He knew it was not implied and he had to answer her somehow, but telling them some bit of his story was not something he would ever do- wither it be friend or stranger. He made sure the long silence was thick as he heard rumbles of thunder off in the distance, warning them that soon, the storm will claw it's way closer towards them and pour heavy- he can smell the rain afoot. What was there to say? Should he tell the whole truth or possibly a bit of why and that would suffice? Perhaps- he's willing to entertain this notion. A gamble yes but something tells him to trust the mare with his words. "I'm here because of family matter," Silence. "Or rather. . . coming back to where I belong, I guess"

The Mares ears perked forward curiously, her head now resting more relaxed on her neck. How cute. Nef rose both of her eyebrows at him now. There was no going back now, he was gonna tell her more whether he liked it or not, because one does not simply tell her only the beginning of a story. They have to finish it.
Shifting her weight more comfortably, she looked up at him with her peridot eyes shimmering like a child hearing their first adventure story.
"Oh, what do you mean?" She pried a bit, leaning her head forward as if to encourage him.

Gaius | The Exiles | Guard
Gaius turned his head back only to have the Olde member's head moved closer with interest shinning in her eyes. From her perspective she seemed interested in what he had to say- a rare treat honestly. He had not found many whom would want to her of his troubled stories considering most of his herd were poor saps with tragic stories tied into them. But here was someone, someone who wants to listen to him and for that he let out a very faint but appreciative smile. However he did not press further into the issue. How could he start? He barely knew who she was let alone her name- He should really get to that "I meant what I said," He said, trying to drive the conversation away. "What's you're name, sunshine?"

Her brow fell in the sudden shift of conversation, annoyed she'd have to wait to hear the rest. But all in good time, she assumed. Her name? Oh boy. Straightening up, a suggestive grin crawled across her lips as she hummed a little.
"My name is Nefertiti..." Lowering her head slightly to look at his expression as the wind took her hair once more. "It means 'beauty has arrived'."
That was it, it was her a-typical greeting to everyone new in her life. Everyone had to know it, everyone. Nef had always been proud of her looks, never quite outright saying it to most, but very often showing it.

Gaius | The Exiles | Guard
Brows frowned together as she introduced herself; expression unchanging as she lowered her head a tad and exclaimed her meaning of name. What was there to it? It was just a hidden message underneath a like his own- nothing special. Gaius' face was passive as ever, not showing an ounce of interest nor disinterest, he had simple not wanted her to know either. So for that he simple nodding, shrugging off what was so obvious to both of them- he knew what she was doing- the irony. "Nefertiti, huh? Well.. nice to finally know you, Sunshine." He said, voice dropping a tad by accident.

Noticing his unchanging demeanor, she pursed her lips a bit in rejection and annoyance. Quickly shrugging off the details of it she didn't want to take it personally, she straightened herself back out normally.
CRASH
The first bolt of lightning hit the land from the oncoming storm. It was going to be upon them soon, she knew it. Maybe the bath will do him good. She smirked to herself as she looked from the storm back to him.
Slightly annoyed with the nickname, she rolled her eyes a bit and looked off into the distance towards the Silver Wood. They needed shelter out of the storm before it got here so she decided she'd be the one to find it.
"Alright, well. You can either get out of the storm and tell me the full extent of your business, or we can tell the king in the rain. Your choice, Daffodil."

Gaius | The Exiles | Guard "Daffodil?" Gaius couldn't help but let out a breathy snort, truly amused with Nef's sudden nickname. It was a surprise yes, but it didn't bother him- it was welcomed unlike the female in front. Yet the next crash of thunder did not silence his fit- her proposal did. He transitioned into a sigh of irritation. 'The king, huh? Like hell I'd want to see him'The answer was strikingly obvious to both of them and that did all the more reason for the stallion to become bitter. "Well.. If you put it that way," he started, making his way to maneuver in the same direction the Olde member was headed- the Silver Woods; making sure to create a large space between them. "Let's get going then, Sunshine."
