Delvin - Scout - Exiles
The bears had been given pause by Khazada and his own frantic attempts to draw their attention from the badly wounded Outlaw, but the great beasts were quickly realizing the two drafts engaging them weren't quite as dangerous as they were trying to seem. One began turning its snout back at Outlaw and Galloway, who was trying his best to assist the shaky guard, and the other opened its maw and lunged forward a bit, letting out a fearsome roar before rising onto its hind legs.
Clearly their scare tactic alone wasn't going to work. As the second bear returned all its paws to the ground, Delvin struck forward with a hoof, catching the creature in the shoulder. It let out an enraged growl and actual fire sparked up where the scout had struck it. Delvin's ears turned back and he let out a snort; he had never encountered an Ash Bear before, or any creature that could willingly light itself on fire.
If they weren't so far inland Delvin might've suggested trying to bait the bears to the ocean, though he wasn't even sure himself what they would do when they got there. Instead of wasting time on hypotheticals, Delvin drove both front hooves into the ground again, sending a wave of ash into one of the bear's face. It blazed up again for a moment, but it seemed the ash did obscure its vision fairly well. The beast rose onto its hind limbs again, but swatted randomly at the air in front of it now, and made a pitiful sound Delvin could only assume was directed at the other bear.
As the scout was about to go in for another strike at the beast, he noticed Amarante climbing up an outcropping of rocks off to the side of the fight. He watched her for a moment until he realized what the mare was about to do. "Be careful!" he shouted, knowing it would be pointless to try and argue her down in the middle of a fight. Hopefully she wouldn't injure herself too badly.

Khazada- Guard- Exiles
Frustration was the only clear emotion Khazada felt as she seemed to realize her tactics weren't working. With her ears flattened, she flashed Delvin a look, as if look for some idea of what their next plan would be. However when she spotted one of the bear turn it's attention back to Outlaw and Gallow, the dun mare turned her own attention on that bear. Giving a furious snort, she abandoned her place next to Delvin before the draft mare gave her own furious neigh to grab the bear's attention.
"Pick on someone your own size!" Khazada spat just as the draft mare struck out with her own hooves at the other bear to grab it's attention once more. However just as Delvin had discovered, Khazada was taken back when she saw sparks when her hoof made contact with the creature. Now that...was not what the guard was expecting but she didn't let that stop her as she was going to hold true to her word of protecting the others. Snaking her head and snapping her teeth just as the bear faced her, she reared up again, trying to force the bear to ignore the two stallions and only focus on her. "If Outlaw can move, be quick and get him to a safer spot. Gallow." Khazada didn't look behind her as she was more focused on the bear infront of her. "I'll keep the bear away in the meantime." There was a confidence to her tone that Khazada wasn't even sure where it came from.
But it was Delvin's words that snapped the dun's attention just as her gaze drifted over to see the other mare in the group looking to ambush the bears from above. "Your crazy mare!" Khazada gave a loud, disbelieving snort. What in the unicorn's name was that mare thinking?! The last thing Khazada wanted was another horse to be severely injured.

Galloway - Scout - Exiles
Gallow watched helplessly as Outlaw struggled up and stumbled towards him. He wasn't a medic, but he knew the basics of keeping someone alive. Even so the wounds on Outlaw daunted the spotted stallion. Outlaw's response was a strong one. Gallow could tell from the way the stallion moved that he was in a lot of pain, even if his voice was steady.
"Let's get you moved over and somewhere safe. I'll find a way to stop the bleeding." Gallow had heard Outlaw encourage him to go back out and fight. But Gallow's mind was set. Take care of Outlaw. Then take of the next person. Whether that meant with fighting or another way was yet to be seen.
In the distance he heard Amarante's response to his question. This made Gallow turn his head and watch as the young mare loped over to a large rock. What was she thinking of doing?
Gallow bent his neck to help support Outlaw in response to Khazada's shout. Out of the corner of his eye a glowing orange sparked in between the bloody, fear riddled darkness. For a second he welcomed the sudden light. For a second he thought it was the sun and that this horrible night had ended. But then he realized with a start that it was fire. The acrid scent burned his nostrils and sent shivers across his coat. Gallow swiveled his head and watched as Khazada struck at the ash bear. The ashy coat of the bear ignited where the her hoof had struck.
"What in the hell..." Gallow couldn't finish his thoughts on what these creatures were. Delvin's shout snapped Gallow's eyes to Amarante.
"Oh..." Gallow watched as the agile bay mare threw herself off the rock at a running gallop. He felt the world around them stop breathing for a second as she sailed through the sky. Her mane and tail billowed out like crusader's banner. It was only appropriate for what the team of horses were doing. Fighting back for their holy land. Their only land.
Suddenly one of the ash bears turned towards the soaring mare.

As Outlaw staggered unevenly over to a pale shape that could only be Galloway coming to aid him, the cries of the other horses reached his ears and echoed through his mind. Each word was surprisingly clear despite how dizzy the Guard was and how the fuzzy sensation returned to his head. "Get him to a safer spot."..."I'll keep the bears away."..."Let's get you moved over to somewhere safe."..."Be careful!" A exasperated snort left his body once more. Outlaw knew that it would be idiotic to attempt fighting again, but the helplessness the stallion felt stung like a thousand cruel wasp stings right on the belly. Even after saving his comrades by distracting the bears for those few vital seconds and pushing the malevolent voice from his mind, he still felt in his heart that he hadn't done enough. There were still two bears antagonizing the team and though he could hear a few blows being landed, it didn't sound like the bulky predators were keen on running off yet. And being spoken about like that...as if he were a liability, just another problem the group had to handle...it infuriated him. This fury made the fuzzy feeling in his mind grow more heavy and unbearable, like a mounting pressure was building inside his skull until it exploded. But Outlaw couldn't let that happen, especially not now. So for just a moment the oddly marked stallion cleared his mind, blocking everything around him including a flare of light, out. Once the feeling died down, Outlaw's vision focused enough for him to find the rest of the way to Gallow. The flares that temporarily lit up the night and illuminated the situation upon contact with the bears didn't necessarily surprise the wounded Guard, they were Ash Bears after all. And they were obviously able to survive through the fire and the flames that ravaged the Southern Isle. So they must have some sort of fire attribute.
The stallion leaned on the equally tall stallion's shoulder, throwing him a thankful glance with the one eye he could see out of. Warm blood oozed from the open wound, down the pale stallion's leg like a sticky, crimson little river that was quickly overflowing. Now that he was standing upright, the flow of blood was now cascading down towards the ground, staining even more white fur with red. It took a lot of willpower for him not to groan...Outlaw was now quite the mess. Covered in black clumps of bloody ash and fresh blood on top of that, he was the perfect example of a wounded defender. Normally he would never let his aesthetic bar drop so low, but the condition of his coat and mane was out of his control now no matter how much it irked him. But he had little time to squander on the state of his looks because everyone's attention was quickly drawn to the smallest of their company, Amarante, climbing up onto a boulder that rivaled the height of the bears. Outlaw had to turn his head to be able to see the mare as she galloped to the edge. The other horses were shouting warnings at her to be careful and watch herself, but what she was doing was dangerous no matter which way you cut it. He, however, was too weak to raise his voice louder than regular speech and knew that his words wouldn't reach Amarante in time. After the hits the bears took, their sparks showed that they were at the very least annoyed, if not pissed at how the horses were standing up to them. If Amarante were to land on them and they weren't presented with something 'more interesting' than a horse leaping on them, she would be dead meat for sure. Outlaw had to think fast if he was going to keep that crazy little mare from being killed. Suddenly a smirk spread across his lips despite the cracking of a slightly clotting edge of one of the slash wounds on his face. He could manipulate these bears. He could control them. After all, their only objective as attacking predators was to feed. What was the thing associated with feeding? Blood. What was now soaking his mane and right side? Blood. That will distract them long enough for Amarante to get off of them...and both Khazada and Delvin can land more blows while the bears are still confused on who to go after, Amarante or me. Without further hesitation, the bleeding Guard stepped away from Galloway's support with much difficulty and moved closer to the bears. He wasn't stupid though, he made sure Khazada and Delvin were close by so the two horses wouldn't have to run after the bears if they lurched towards him in their bloodlust confusion.
Though he was weak, frail and could feel the very last of his energy sapping up, the Guard stabilized himself by spacing his four hooves out as much as possible. Then he shook. He shook with all the energy left in him so his blood soaked mane slapped back and forth, spraying droplets of blood into the air, onto the ground and even a bit in the faces of the Ash Bears. This caught their attention and drew it between Amarante and himself. The bumbling bears couldn't decide who to go after. They grumbled and moaned to each other to try to see what to do, all the action around them leaving them confused and vulnerable. Eyes rolling, the scent of blood nearby and the threatening hooves made the pair of bears flatten their ears and shrink back a little. All this confusion was starting to overwhelm their smaller mental capacities.
Meanwhile, Outlaw was now wobbling back over to Galloway, hoping to make it to the young Scout before he collapsed in the ash. His visible eye flashed with determination through the searing pain as he moved, but he had yet to fall.
No pity.

Amarante - Scout- Exiles
When Amarante saw the bears sparking she knew she was in trouble but could do little to change her course. She knew she'd have to bounce off one of them to avoid getting seriously burned. She heard her teammates cries and silently promised them she would be careful. When she hit the bears sparks flew up singing her ankles and underhooves but she used the bears as a springe board to bounce to the ground. She saw what outlaw had done and was glad for the distraction, as she bolted away from the now confused creatures. One of her legs hurt badly but she forced it to move.
She stoped a bit away from the others eyeing the bears wondering if they would start fighting again. Her hurt leg was off the ground and she bent it tenntivly. wincing at the pain. She could bear it if they had to fight again, but not for long. "Gallows get Outlaw out of here, he needs help and fast." she said walking up to the draft stallion, still eying the bears. They were still confused, but for how long. She limped to the others just in case they decided to fight again.

Delvin - Scout - Exiles
Delvin bristled as Outlaw staggered back over, almost into fighting range. There was no way the stallion could fight in his condition. Before the Scout could call to Galloway for assistance, the Ash Bears recoiled slightly from him and Khazada, instead turning their snouts in the bleeding Guard's direction. They took a few staggering steps towards Outlaw, but suddenly Amarante made her move, descending upon one of the bears like some mad falcon before she hurried out of the range of their claws.
Now the beasts were thoroughly confused; they had thought they'd have a quick meal of Outlaw until Amarante surprised them both by coming seemingly out of nowhere. Speaking of Outlaw, he was thankfully making his way back to Galloway and away from the fight. The bay draught pinned his ears and drove his hooves forward again. It was now or never; they had to seize this opportunity before the bears collected themselves. "Don't let them regroup!" he shouted, landing a kick on one of the bear's flanks.
This time the sparks didn't dissuade him, and Delvin could smell the distinct smell of burning hair as he struck the beast a second time. It let out a yowl and staggered a few steps before looking to its companion, who looked just as frazzled as the first bear did. Yes, they still had a chance yet.

Khazada-Guard-Exiles
"Outlaw!" Khazada barked seeing the oddly colored stallion move away from Gallow but her instant panic turned to confusion when the stallion shook his coat, sending droplets of blood flying. But it was then the draft mare noticed the bears looked a bit confused themselves. Snorting, she let out a small breath seeing Outlaw hobble back towards Gallow. She took a brief glance behind her to see Amarante seeming to favor a leg, no doubt having hurt herself during her stunt.
Hearing Delvin's words, Khazada gave a shift nod of her head in reply before she lunged at the other bear, striking out with her heavy hooves. Sparks jumped from under her hooves when she made contact with the beast pelt again.A pained snarl rang in the mare's ears just as the beast swung it's great head around to snap at her. But the dun mare didn't let bright sparks or the beast snarling detour her as Khazada struck at the beast's face, hoping she'd land a good enough blow to force the beast to rethink of attacking her group. "This is our home!" The draft mare snapped, her ears hidden under her thick black mane as the dun reared up on her hind legs once more. "You don't belong here!" With another snort, Khazada struck out with one hoof, making contact with the beast snot, in turn forcing it to take a step or two back from her.
When Khazada's front hooves touched the earth once more, she went back to Delvin's previous tactic by kicking ash in the bear's face, just for good measure. There was too much at stake and if she could drive one off, then it should be easier to drive the other Ash bear off.

Galloway - Scout - Exiles
Outlaw was going to get himself killed. Gallow wasn’t exactly doing the best at keeping the stallion from jumping up to fight. He couldn’t really blame him either. Gallow knew how it felt to be completely helpless when he was younger. It was the reason why he always looked out for others instead of himself. He never wanted someone to feel that way; to feel helpless.
Outlaw was a smart stallion. Gallow could trust him because of his status as a guard. And his trust was not misplaced. Outlaw only moved a few steps closer to the creatures, bent his head and shook as violently as he could without knocking himself over. Gallow twitched involuntarily as a few hot drops hit him in the face. He could’t lose the metallic scent of blood. It felt almost like the drops would burn holes in his skin.
All of this was happening in the blink of an eye. Even though the seconds seemed to stretch to hours. Amarante’s flying form hit the bears with an audible thud. Flames sparked up instantly, but luckily stayed down. The bear she landed on wheeled it’s ugly head around in angered confusion; the smell of Outlaw’s blood had kept them from noticing the aerial ambush. The nimble mare jumped away quickly from them without a scratch. Or so it seemed. Gallow detected a slight limp when she walked. He hoped it was only a sprain and nothing with the bone itself.
Gallow finally noticed Outlaw struggling to reach him. Feeling dumb for not rushing straight to the badly injured stallion, Gallow trotted over and offered his shoulder as support. He felt Outlaw’s skin searing with heat. Gallow knew the stallion would live. As he proved already he was a strong, stubborn horse. Those attributes would do well during his healing.
Slowly the two started moving off to a copse of dead trees to take refuge in. Gallow watched out of the corner of his eye as Khazada and Delvin worked mercilessly at the bears. Gallow thanked the gods that they had a much heavier, stronger team makeup. Khazada’s draft side was helping immensely with landing severe blows, especially right into their face. And Delvin’s meticulous, almost military orders and planning were a perfect matchup for the team.
Both stallions reached the trees where Gallow helped Outlaw get as comfortable as possible. Gallow wanted to put some sort of pressure on the wounds, the only problem was finding something. He looked around himself for leaves or anything that survived the fire. So far all he could lay eyes on was the endless amounts of burn trees and ash. Gallow wanted to get Outlaw to a point he could leave them and hopefully help drive off the bears. The creatures seemed to be on their last nerve. It could take one more surprise and they would be gone for good.
Gallow glanced over at Amarante and at Outlaw and knew that they needed to get out of this soon or someone was leaving here with more than just a flesh wound.

The rest of his team must've thought him insane, possibly even rivaling Amarante in his stability of plans. But the Guard couldn't think of anything else to do. Those initial blows alone were just like nips to the bears, not nearly enough to chase them so much of anywhere. They needed to be battered while they were confused so it would overwhelm them into leaving without return. And if chasing those treacherous predators out of his herd's lands meant everyone would be able to sleep a little deeper that night, his injuries were worth it. And the risks taken that night should be worth it to the other four as well if it resulted in the overall safety of the herd. What was done had to be done, or there would've been consequences that were much worse than what the five were now experiencing. All this was running through Outlaw's mind as it wound down a bit. Help was on the way and these Ash Bears were almost spent. It was his time to fall back and take care of his wounds since the two largest horses in the group seemed to have the everything just about finished. His smirk fell away and his face settled into his normal neutral expression...a warm brown eye and a gentle smile. The immediate danger was behind him, the voice was gone from his mind (at least for now), and the blood flow streaming from his neck and face was starting to clot in every spot other than one which continued flowing freely. That was enough to be thankful for. Sure he was wobbling around on his hooves with support from the loyal Scout like a newborn foal, but he wasn't dead. This would pass like all things.
Outlaw gazed over at the pale spotted stallion aiding his steps, the smile on his face growing as wide as it could without cracking the weakly clotting wound with a grateful, almost prideful look in his eyes as they made their way over to the black corpse of a forest that once was. "You have quite a bit of discipline over yourself...to keep so calm in a situation like this...calm enough to think rationally." a small chuckle shook his pale red stained shoulders at his own small jab at himself. What he'd done wasn't exactly rational, but five horses against two fully grown flaming bears? There was no 'rational' approach in which they got out without losing at least one of their own. In nature it isn't 'rational' for prey to escape two fully capable attackers anyway. thought the wounded Guard with an inward snort.
Though despite the bears finally starting to back off, Outlaw caught a glimpse of Amarante limping away from the spot her hooves touched the ground - away from the bears. She looked like she would make it through alright.
"It would seem that I'm worst off...that's a good thing." Outlaw stated as loudly as he could manage with his fatigue from the blood loss (which was still very soft), still wearing a smile. The Guard seemed relieved that none of the others were as badly injured or lost more blood than he did. He had done his job of protecting them well thanks to his idea to control the bears for another critical moment like he had. Once they reached the remnants of the forest, the darkly marked stallion watched as Galloway searched the area around them for something. His own vision was still blurry so he couldn't be much help - much to his own displeasure. However, Outlaw could tell the younger horse was eager to go help Delvin and Khazada finish the bears. Without a doubt the two larger horses were growing tired by now and they needed that one last push...that Galloway could provide.
"Galloway? I see some old leaves a few meters away from here...I can clean myself up and stay still until we're all ready to go...Khazada and Delvin need you to be their one last push. I can take care of myself for a few minutes." he persuaded easily with that understanding look in his visible eye and his friendly smile across his lips. "Go on." Outlaw urged, nudging Galloway gently with his nose before lowering himself onto the layer of ash on the ground.
"See? I'm all comfy. Now go help them!" Outlaw nodded towards the fighting pair, his obsidian tail swishing back and forth in the ash lazily. But what he didn't let on was something more serious...something he didn't want anyone to worry about other than a medic when they returned. It would seem...that he was turning his head every time to view something or adjusting his body position. Though he kept it extremely subtle, a medically practiced eye would spot his ploy a mile away.

Amarante - Scout - Exiles
Amarante saw the others were taking well care of it and decided it was best she stay out of it. She decided her attention would be better spent guarding outlaw from the bears, then getting her leg further injured flailing about, fighting the bears. She limped toward where she saw outlaw being led, Gallows would be a better bet then she would to fight off the bears. She came upon to two talking about how to stop the bleeding, she knew leaves would only work so much. She looked down at her hair. The length around the knees was more the enough to sop up the blood and thick enough to stop it if wrapped around.
She bent down an started biting through strand of her mane. It wasn't neat at all but soon she had parted the bottom from the rest of her hair. She did the same with her tail hair. She gathered it all up noting she would have to wash out her mouth later. "HEW USER THERS."she said, once she got over there. It was hard to understand her with all the hair in her mouth, and she spit it out. " Here use this." she said once again. "Its's not clean but it'll help more then leaves." she said looking away blushing. The bottom of her mane was a jagged mess.

Delvin - Scout - Exiles
As Khazada landed another solid hit to one of the bears, Delvin chanced a moment to look at the rest of his team mates. Outlaw was finally hobbling away from the battle field with the help of Galloway, and Amarante seemed to be following them. He silently hoped the limp to her walk wouldn't turn out to be something serious, and that they could at least get Outlaw back to the herd once this mess with the bears was settled.
He and Khazada were making surprising progress for being only two horses, but Outlaw and Amarante's diversions had thoroughly confused the grumbling beasts and they had managed to push them back a few more steps. The creatures seemed to try to be communicating with one another, making various chuffs and barks in between their offensive growls and roars. Maybe they were reconsidering putting up their flags here after all. If Galloway could spare the time to assist in the offense, Delvin was sure the bears would turn tail after a bit more of the team's display, but he didn't want Outlaw and Amarante left bleeding and alone either.

Khazada-Guard-Exiles
Even with her breath coming in small gasps and her shoulder's already stained with sweat, the dun mare was far from finished as she struck out with another hoof. Come on, leave already! The mare gave yet another frustrated snort as she knew these bears were having second thoughts but they still needed that one last push. Casting a quick glance at Delvin to make sure he was still alright, Khazada tossed her head just as her long forelock got in her eyes. The guard however didn't have time to clear her vision as she went at one of the bears again, desperately trying to push them to make up their minds and flee.
"I suppose it's just us then?!" Khazada snorted once more, flicking on ear in Delvin's direction though it was clear from her breathy tone that she had about enough of this. Even in all her training, she wasn't as conditioned as she'd have liked and this really was her first battle. But even as that small thought crossed her mind, the draft mare couldn't help the feeling of pride in her chest. For such a inexperienced guard, she was holding up quite well. And it would seem her mother was right all along. Maybe being a guard really was the best way she could serve her herd.

Gallow - Scout - Exiles
All Gallow could do was breath regularly and think. His mind ran a million miles a minute trying to find something to patch up Outlaw. Trying to figure out what their plan would be after everything. How bad Amarante’s leg was. Whether or not this would be successful or worth it. He wondered how they would be received when they went back to the herd.
Outlaw’s soft voice echoed through Gallow’s thoughts. He tore himself from the endless spiral they were turning into and thought about Outlaw’s comment.
“I suppose it’s my solitary lifestyle. I’m not one to be in the middle of things. Or if I am I’m not involved. I just observe. I watch how other horses work out their problems. Then I take what I learn and form it to something that suits me. The calm and rational part of me is from babysitting foals.” Gallow let out a small chuckle seeing the serene positive look on Outlaw and remembering when he was younger. “They try your patience and when things go wrong they need a strong adult to fix it and tell them everything will be just fine.”
Gallow gave a smile to Outlaw joining into that serene aftermath feeling. He was ready to hang his head and call it a night.
Gallow saw Amarante heading their way. Perculiarly she stopped right in front of them and bent her neck. It wasn’t until she turned to her tail that Gallow realized she was cutting her hair. He was even more confused then before.
She dropped the hair near Outlaw and finally Gallow understood. It was a brilliant idea. Better than what Outlaw had suggested with the leaves. Only because there weren’t enough and they were brittle.
“Thank you Amarante for this. It’ll definitely help. Please stay here and maybe take a look at your leg and keep an eye on this crazy stallion.” Gallow gave a smirk towards the stallion. The Friesian-Appaloosa was going to take up Outlaw’s suggestion. He had a pretty good plan formed in his mind and it was only a little reckless.
“Oh Outlaw. You really helped out the group. Don’t ever think otherwise. Your sacrifice saved another horse.” Gallow knew the stallion might be worrying over his earlier decision now that he had time to rest and think.
Giving a nod to the two injured horses, Gallow curved his Friesian influenced neck and gathered up the jittery energy left over from his initial adrenaline rush. His mind set into a resolve to protect his team scare the living daylights out of these bears. A small smile graced his face. He was going to have FUN with this. Reckless and dangerous things were his secret pleasure.
His well defined back legs rocketed him off the ground into a full on gallop towards the two fighting drafts and the massive, glowing ash bears. His hooves pounded a thick ash cloud around him, masking him in the dead lands filth. Gallow stretched his neck with each stride, feeling the raw power in his body and the burn of air in his lungs. It felt good to run.
The fight grew large in his emerald vision. The bears were massive in person. Fear gripped his heart and made his steps falter for a second, but he knew there was no turning back now. Stopping very suddenly, Gallow slid the last little bit, kicking up waves of ash into the ash bears and unfortunately also into Delvin and Khazada.
Gallow let out a war cry and reared as tall as he could, flailing his hooves madly. He jumped closer to the bears on his back legs to land a blow or two as well. With the sudden attack from a third horse and the thick, heavy cloud of ash in the air, Gallow hoped this would be that final push. The bears roared endlessly in their cloud of ash, blind to Gallow’s flying hooves and Khazada’s and Delvin’s as well.

As the stallion lay there in the ash, he concealed his discomfort well. Anyone who knew Outlaw even remotely knew that this stallion hated getting dirty or mussed up. And not only was this ash mixing with blood and caking his once pure white coat, but it was infuriatingly itchy. But even though all this plus the searing pain in his face, the strangely marked Guard still managed to smile and encourage Galloway to go help Khazada and Delvin. The two heavily built horses were obviously sweaty...even to the one who still had blurry vision. That was another thing that annoyed Outlaw. But he figured that that was because how hard the bear hit him and it would return to it's natural state soon enough.
It wasn't until now that he noticed Amarante had followed the patient Friesian-Appaloosa Scout and himself. So I hadn't been seeing things before...she really is limping. Outlaw thought inwardly as he saw the smaller mare hobble over to where he lay resting. It wasn't a terrible limp, and she made a pretty good pace as she approached so she would more likely than not be perfectly fine. Himself however? The Guard wasn't sure. These wounds he acquired were pretty deep...there would definitely be some permanent scarring. Well...I guess I can't chase perfection anymore...or sweep any mares off their hooves. he thought with a grumble. Sure stallions who had scars fell in love and got married just fine, but not scars like this. These were too large and what mare to see scars every time they looked into their mate's face? But it was still worth it to protect the team and the herd. That was his main objective. Serve, aid protect and make those in the Exile herd happy or at ease at the very least. His own feelings, heart, and needs came second.
But as the bay mare stood beside him and Galloway, Outlaw's jaw dropped as she began....chewing off part of her long beautiful mane. And tail too! Watching this process almost made his one visible brown eye misty and glaze over with a primitive form of tears. He was about to ask her why the hell she would go and do such a thing, cutting her mane and leaving her mane in such a jagged state. But she spoke before he managed to, talking through the hair. At first the stallion's ears flicked around in blatant confusion...he had no idea what she said. But when she placed the mane beside him and told him to use it as a bandage, a grin spread across his face. "Amarante you're a genius! Thank you so much. You might just have saved my life." he exclaimed as he aided her in tying the mane around his wounds. The bandage wasn't the best and was very temporary looking but at this point anything would help. Plus, the pressure around his head stopped the fuzzy feeling or...at least made it subside a little.
When Gallow referred to him as 'this crazy stallion', Outlaw couldn't help but chuckle. Yeah, crazy wasn't too far off. He felt crazy 90% of the time, but hopefully something...or someone... would happen to change his course. As the stallion plunged forward towards the fray of battle, Outlaw quietly wished him well. "You're strong, Galloway. You can do this. Return safely with Delvin and Khazada." Thankfully the wounded Guard closed his mouth before the wind carried the kicked up ash right into his face. Coughs shook his form a few times until the ash was clear from his lungs and the ash settled once more. The muscle convulsions made his wounds pulse with pain a few times, which Outlaw consciously tried to ignore. The spotted Scout's battle cry reached his ears and he observed as the third horse joined in the battle. With confused and slightly pained chuffs the bears began backing down. They were now outnumbered and these horses were bigger and heavier than the one that got hit.
Then his gaze slipped up to the mare standing beside him, flashing an apologetic smile as he said, "You know...if you'd like I can try to even out your mane for you while I'm down here. It's the least I can do." It was true that she likely saved him, and though it wasn't much he would try to repay her in some way. Even if that way was just a bit of a trim. In the darkness, he couldn't tell that the mare was blushing.

Amarante - Scout- Exiles
Amarante blushed when outlaw asked to help her straighten out her haircut. Her hair was now just below her knees and she was rather embarrassed by the state of it. She was hesitant because the stallion was already injured, sure he was banaged but those could only do so much. The only way he would be able to get to her hair is if she propped him up. She lowered herself to her knees beside him and then used her head to prop him against a tree so he could reach her hair, well at least the part that was now crooked.
"Ok you can straighten it," she said hiding her face. She moved she her mane was in her reach, and smiled. She wondered what everyone would do after this was all over. Would it go back to how it was before they met? She hoped not as she had grown fond of her other party members. She silently prayed that they would all remain friends despite no longer being on a mission. She subconnsiously knew that this mission would change all the party members. Noone would forget the time they had spent together. But she was still worried, she wanted to remain friends with the others.
