She watched the stallion walk a few steps, but stood where she was. "No, you should go back. Im leaving. Im a danger to myself and everyone around me." She said slowly, looking down at her hooves.

Delvin snorted, "Nonsense," he admonished, "You won't last a week in your condition." He didn't have the patience for any self-sacrificing today; he had found the mare injured, and he intended to see her off in a better condition than he found her. "I took care of him," he reminded her, narrowing his eyes into the shadows of the treeline, "And if I can do that alone, the herd won't be inconvenienced at all by your presence."

Greer stomped her bloody leg. "No delvin. I do not belong here. I see how they look at me, like im some sort of animal. Dont say they dont because they do! Maybe i dont want to last a week" She said, voice fading away.

Delvin snorted at the young mare, narrowing his eyes, "Now you listen here," he began, stomping his hoof authoritatively into the snow with a resounding crunch, "Some of them were in nearly the same situation as you before they came to the herd, and even if some of them do think that why should that matter?" he demanded, "And don't you talk like that!" he added, walking over to the loner and giving her a nudge with his nose back in the direction of the herd. "You don't have to stay right smack in the middle of the commotion, but you're not leaving either."

Greer snapped at Delvin, teeth ready to rip out a chunk of flesh, but she obeyed. She knew, she would bolt as soon as she got the chance. She didnt want to be with a herd as much as she cared for Delvin. She looked up at him, walking next to her. He had to shorten his stride for her to keep up, because he was so tall and she was only average. The snow easily moved from her path as she powered through it, feeling already much stronger. Her injuries were still aparent but most had stopped bleeding. Now, it was only a matter of time to grow stronger, again. Strong like Delvin. The stallion was so...magnificent, she had to admit. Strong, muscular features. A well formed, curving neck, and a slightly roman nosed face. His legs were powerful like a stag who could jump 7 feet into the air from a stand still.
"I am not a thing...dont order me around, Delvin." She said with a grumble.

Delvin plodded along in the snow next to Greer, glancing at her from time to time just to make sure she was still keeping up alright, and didn't have a look in her eye that signaled she was about to take off. Her wounds were healing, but in this weather he wasn't so sure she should leave just yet. Especially not with that other stallion lurking around, he thought bitterly. The bay stallion saw her stealing glances at him too, but he didn't mention it. Instead, he snorted half-heartedly at her grumbled complaint, "I know that," he retorted, "But when you go all numpty on me and wander off into the woods I think a little education's in order," he told the mare.

Greer didnt respond with words, rather with a defeated look on her face. When they got back to the herd, many heads turned. They probably hadnt noticed she'd been gone. The sun lowered slowly into the distance, covering the lands again with a cold blanket of ice. She leaned on Delvin as she slept, her body shivering. Tonight had to be one of the coldest nights in the year. It would have been better near the steamy pools of water in the marsh but that was far away now.

The tall bay moved to walk beside the smaller mare, effectively shielding her from the curious gaze of the herd. He presumed they didn't mean anything by it, but Greer obviously thought otherwise. He stayed up most of the night, dozing every now and then but always rousing back into consciousness. The weather was abysmal. Delvin didn't think the temperature ever got this cold on the Southern Island. The loner was huddled up beside him, shivering from the wind. At least he'd managed to bring her back for the night, she would've been a sitting target out alone in this weather.

When the morning rose, nearly 5 inches of the snow had melted. It was now much easier to move around for Greer, being stiff and wounded. Delvin had awoken before her and she spotted him at the edge of the herd. She ambled over to him, nunging his side. She looked up into his eyes. They were so different. He had these deep, choclatey brown eyes and she had cold icy blue stones.
"Im sorry." She whispered.

The bay was grazing on the patches of grass he could find, occasionally shaking out the melted snow from his mane. It had been wicked last night, but the sun today kept the powder from sticking around very long. He let out a snort when he felt something nudge his flank, until he spotted Greer. He hadn't even heard her approach. He reluctantly conceded to himself that perhaps he got lost in thought a bit too often.
The scout shook his head, completely refusing to accept the mare's words. "Why? You've got nothin' to be sorry for," he stated matter-of-factly, giving his dark tail a swish. She was staring at him again, something he'd come to accept she did kind of often. He stared back into her one exposed blue eye, possibly trying to will his previous statement right into her mareish mind.

Greer looked down at her hooves, and back at him. "Ive caused alot of trouble. Unessesary trouble you shouldnt have had to deal with." She said, her voice still hoarse.
"Also, im sorry of kissing you that day." She said blushing. "But id do it again," She said with a smile. She loved playing games with horses emotions.

"Bah," he said, shaking his head dismissively, "I wasn't doing anythin' better anyway," he added, just to make sure he wasn't giving her any cause to think she'd actually inconvenienced him. True, he'd been sticking around her for a bit to make sure she didn't get herself killed, but he didn't actually view that as an inconvenience.
The scarred bay raised an eyebrow just a fraction at the mare's antics, mare's were still more of a mystery than any stallion he'd ever met. "I don't doubt that you would," he replied flatly, looking down at the mischievous mare.

Greer smirked. "Then i will." She said, giving him a smooch. She laughed, taking a few steps back, and turning back around where she ambled to the other edge of the herd were a patch of exposed grass sat in the open, practically begging to be eaten.

Delvin shook his head as the mare walked happily off to another patch of grass; he should've expected that. He'd have to remember to keep his head held all the way up next time they spoke, she probably wouldn't be able to reach him then. At least all her brash behavior mean't she was feeling better. As long as the weather didn't take a nose-dive again like it had last night she should be alright.

As night fell, a peace fell over the herd too, calming bashful spirits and tempers. Greer leaned on Delvin for strength again, but she couldnt explain her feelings for him. He was so handsome and strong, but she could tell he was good at hiding his feelings beneath a stone wall of horrible memories and rubble. They were so similar and so different. Neither of them trusted anyone, (it was obvious) and they both hid themselves well. Delvin seemed to be the self preserving type while Greer was just the opposite. So, why did she feel so confused?
