The big bay followed her over the hill, ready to stop her fall if she started tumbling backwards through the snow. Thankfully, she managed the ascent on her own, which further proved she wasn't suffering from any broken bones. Good. Scrapes and cuts were treatable, but he hadn't heard of any treatments for broken legs. As they clambered down the opposite side of the hill, Delvin commented, "If you think any of those cuts are gettin' infected, let me know. There's a horse I met who knows his stuff when it comes to herbs," he told her. Ryder would have no qualms helping out the loner; Delvin was confident about that.

"No i think theyll be ok. Not much to infect it with all this frozen water around." She said as she looked into Delvins eyes. He was handsome, tall, well put together. His eyes looked like melted chocolate swirling in a pot. He had a long mane and tail, and his patches were stark white like someone dripped paint all over him. But boy, she could stare at his eyes all day. She blushed at the thought and averted her own icy blue eyes. They seemed to be total opposites.
"Do you like me, Delvin?" She asked quietly.

Delvin ceded that she did have a point; for once the freezing snow was good for something. He nodded in agreement and found her staring up at him like she was about to ask a question, or maybe try and kiss him again. He unconsciously raised his head a bit at the thought.
He was about to cough, or maybe just start grazing to break the stare she had going, but the grey loner spoke before he could do either. Did he like her? What was the loner on about now? Once again he realized he would never understand mares. He'd been around a good while, and he still felt like a daft colt when it came to the inner workings of their minds. A bit spooky they were, if he was honest. "I don't much like anyone," he answered her guardedly, tilting his ears back slightly. He didn't know her that well, but she'd obviously been through a lot these past days. Maybe he was being a touch too cold in this case. "But you're alright, I suppose," he added.

Greer nodded at his answer, pleased. He seemed like a grim fellow in the least. "Tell me about yourself Delvin." She said before laying down in the snow, and rolling onto her back, soothing her pulled, sore muscles. She rolled onto her belly and rested her hooves for a short while. She casually flicked her mane away from her scar, revealing it to him for the first time. She felt a small amount of pain as she exposed her blind, silver eye to the light for the first time in awhile. It looked like a ball of metal as she sunlight glinted off its cloudy surface. The scar around it was grey pink, and looked weathered. She hoped maybe showing apart of herself she rarely let others see would encourage him to tell her something about himself. She was always afraid others would judge her based on her ugly scar.

Delvin snorted at the mare's question, "There's not much to tell," he told her, "Why, what do you want to know?" he asked somewhat suspiciously. His business was his business; he wasn't planning on telling the story of his life anytime soon. Mostly because it would take too long.
He watched as the loner plopped down into the snow, rolling about like she wasn't covered in cuts and bruises. He raised his brow at the sight of the scar, first thinking she'd received that at the hands of the stallion that attacked her recently too, and just hadn't told anyone about it, but then he noticed there was no blood, and the scar looked as though it had healed over years ago rather than days. He bent his head to rummage through the snow for grass, "I take it you've had that for a while, yeah?" he commented.

"Since i was thirteen. Got it when my parents-" Her scentence stopped abruptly. "Sorry." she said slowly, standing up and shaking the snow of her grulla coat. "Whats your favorite thing to do besides sit in idle?" She asked.

Delvin snorted. "I watch things, and I think" he said simply. It was true, that's what occupied him a fair portion of the time. It was almost a game, if the stakes weren't so high for those he observed. He watched the herd, watched the interactions and the disputes, and silently commented and passed judgement in the comfort of his own thoughts. And, occasionally, he got to indulge his other pastime of dispensing advice, if the situation was right.

Greer nodded in response, and nibbled some more on grass. They sat in silence until she a shiver on her neck at the sound of a whinny. It was him, the horse who had done this to her.
"Delvin, I feel as if I'm about to be sick, ill be right back, please don't follow me as this wont be pretty?" She said, trotting away slowly though the knee deep snow which was quickly melting. She followed the sound of the whinny, toward a patch of woods. Big suprise, find somewhere quiet and dark to kill her. Somewhere no one would look for her.
When she was out of ear shot, she called out to him.
"Well, your gonna do it anyway, come out and kill me!" She called out to the horse. He crept out of the shaddows wearing a menecing smile.
"ive been watching you, my dear." He said to her, walking around her like a snake. "I see you've taken a shining to that Delvin, ye ken?" He said, imitating Delvins butter smooth voice. "Too bad, I am going to be your mate, not a foul exile such as him. I have followed you all the way from the outland marsh, and I will get what i came for." He growled, pouncing toward her. She squealed, but he was on top of her faster then she could move, and he bit into her neck.
"Delvin!" She screamed before her lips were shoved into the dirt.

Delvin stopped grazing and looked at the mare suspiciously as she trotted clumsily away through the white powder. He didn't try to stop her, but he kept his ears swiveled in her direction. She might be overestimating her own strength so soon after receiving her injuries; she could easily end up stuck in the snow or fallen down somewhere.
A bit more time passed than Delvin liked, so he set off in the direction he'd watched Greer take. Her hoof prints were still reasonably visible in the slush, so he wasn't worried he'd lose track of her. The paint frowned as he realized the prints were leading into a copse of trees up ahead. Maybe she was making a run for it? She hadn't seemed very comfortable around the herd, so maybe she just decided to leave? He decided to check up to the treeline, give the mare a shout, and if she didn't answer he'd head back to the herd. No use looking for someone who doesn't want to be found, but he didn't think he could deal with nagging thoughts unless he at least checked.
He broke out into a sprint when he heard the mare scream somewhere past the tree line. He didn't have time to think it odd that she would come this far to be sick, instead he just crashed through the undergrowth until he came to a small clearing in the trees. He kept running, barreling right into the other stallion and knocking him off the injured mare. Delvin didn't know id this was some Bachelor trying to add to his herd or otherwise, but honestly he didn't quite care. It had been a while since he'd been in a fight, but that didn't mean he'd forgotten how to. He reared up and delivered a hard kick into the other horse's shoulder, sending him staggering sideways.

Greer watched in horror as Delvin beat the horse, nearly to death, if she hadn't yelled for him to stop. Her voice did nothing to Delvin, he kept fighting. Eventually, the stallion who'd attacked her got in a few hits and bolted for saftey. She looked at the Bay overo stallion infront of her, who bore nothing but a small bruise and a scratch. She felt the tears well up on her eyes as she felt all the regret from everything she'd done in her past.
"Im sorry, I never should have gotten you into this." She cried. "I've done things, unspeakable, horrid things that no one should do, Ive lied about everything to you, I am a horrible person and I wish I hadn't messed with you that night, because if I hadn't you wouldn't know me and you would have gotten scratched or bruised and I would be dead where I'm better off!" She sobbed.

Delvin panted and his blood buzzed though his veins as he watched the other stallion bolt off into the trees. "You best mind that you don't come back!" he bellowed after the horse, his hooves itching to take off in pursuit of the lousy mite. But the frantic screams of Greer made him stay.
It took a shake of his head and a few steadying breaths for her words to even reach him properly, but once he calmed down enough to listen he wasn't even sure what the young mare was talking about. "Oi, you need to calm down - I'm fine!" he insisted irritably, stomping his hoof as if to further his point. It was true, the sorry excuse for a stallion barely managed to land a few hits, and they were barely comparable to the strikes of a rowdy colt. "If anyone should be dead, it's that sodding piece of-" Delvin stopped himself, glaring back into the treeline. If that horse knew what was good for him, he wouldn't be back. "Who was that?" he demanded, wanting to figure out why she had come all the way out here in the first place.

Greer looked up at delvin, she felt lightheaded, and as if she were about to faint. Everything was falling down around her.
"He's...My brother." She said slowly.

"Your brother?" he repeated, swishing his tail in irritation. "Why was he out here? More importantly, what the hell did he think he was doing?" he asked. It didn't make any sense to him.

"I mean, half brother. He was attacked by a cougar when he was a foal and it...did something. Im not sure why he was trying to...do that to me, but he hates me because i apparently stole his childhood even though my mother had him when she was 16 and iresponsible and he wandered off she thought he was dead its all socomplicated." Greer leaned on a tree with exhaustion.

Delvin listened to the loner's explanation, but he didn't pretend to understand it all. Instead, he just shook his head again and scraped his hooves through the snow, ridding them of blood before he returned back to the herd. He'd warn the guards that he spotted a seemingly violent stallion wandering around, but there was no need to have Greer explain to the whole herd what that horse was doing around here. "We should get back."
