Delvin snorted, "Fair enough." He didn't even know if loners made it a habit of knowing where they were going. When he was on his own, he rarely made traveling plans until he joined up with Mirea. The choice of where to wander was made even more difficult by the predicament the herds were in now, what with the landbridges erring from tradition by remaining uncovered.

Greer looked down at her hooves, thinking of where she was headed next. Maybe she would go visit her best friend, laz, at the little oasis the two called home. She had met laz by mistake, but they ended up feeling as if they were meant to be brother and sister. Ocasionaly a fight would break out, but it was always fun when she got the time to see him. He protected the little patch of land so she would have a safe haven to go to if she ever had trouble.
She looked back up, into the deep brown eyes of the bay overo stallion who stood tall infront of her. "Thanks..." She whispered, before giving him a small kiss and bolting off.

Delvin waited, swishing his tail to chase off some annoying bugs as the mare seemed to get a little bit lost in her thoughts. She got a ponderous look in her eye, and he knew she was seeing something he couldn't.
Suddenly she seemed to snap back into reality, and her eyes were once again looking at him, rather than through him. He could barely pick up the muttered "thanks" before she shot forward, landing a kiss on his muzzle, before she turned tail and ran off. He stood there for a moment, caught immensely off-guard, and watched her race away across the field. After regaining his senses, he replaced the frown on his face and snorted. I'll never understand mares, he thought, but he found himself wondering if he'd see the flighty mare again.
((Should this be the end?))

-3 months later-
Greer stumbled through the snowy, uneven ground aimlessly. Her vision was clouded, her teeth clattered, her skin shivered. Her body was covered in cut and gashes, blood seeping from the wounds. Her mane was in knots and it fell over her good eye, leaving her to nearly no vision due to only having 1 working eye in the first place.
She mustered up any strength she had, and screamed for anyone, if a predator found her, she welcomed death at this point. "Somebody...HELP ME!" She cried, falling into the ice and snow. Her entire body shuddered, and spasmed. Snow and hail pelted her thin frame as she laid helplessly in the white icy flakes.

Delvin stood by himself, rigid against the chilly wind that blew across the fields. Flurries clung to his mane and tail, and he kept his face turned away from the brunt of the gale. This weather was getting more and more annoying by the day. He was used to the cold after spending the better part of his young-adulthood on the Eastern Island, but he wasn't as young as he used to be. The cold seemed colder than it had then, but he thought that might just be due to the fact that Mirea and Curio weren't with him anymore. His thoughts lingered on them, as they usually did, until he thought he heard something on the wind.
Delvin paused in his thinking, and forced his body out of stasis. He gave himself a through shaking, sending snow in all directions, and swiveled his ears experimentally. He was about to grumble and chalk it up to the strange wind patterns playing tricks on him, until he definitely heard the noise again. He looked back at the bulk of his herd, most of which were huddled together near the trees. None of them seemed to have heard, or at least didn't care to listen. Sighing, he trudged off through the snow towards what he thought was the source of the noise.

Greer didnt know how long she laid in the snow, how long she had been unconcious, how long the snow had taken to nearly suffocate her. When she woke up, she was looking up into a pair of familiar eyes. Liquid brown, shiny and gorgeous.
"Delvin?" She coughed out, before falling into an unconcious state again.

Despite the weather's best efforts, the bay finally made it over yet another hill. He paused to clear the snow from his face and eyes before quickly scanning the fields below, looking for anything that could've caused the cries he'd sworn he'd been hearing. Then, he finally spotted it. A dark spot against the stark backdrop of snow. Shaking the chill off him for what seemed like the thousandth time, he marched down the hill, managing to trot through the almost knee-deep ocean of white powder once he hit the flat field below.
Nearing the thing, he realized it was another horse. Unsure if it was even alive at this point, he approached carefully, looking around for any signs that this might be a set-up, or if any other foul-play was going on. He found nothing that indicated anything suspicious, but when he was finally upon the fallen horse he was admittedly taken aback to see Greer, that loner mare he'd found a few months ago. She muttered something that sounded like his name before her head collapsed back into the snow. He nudged her with his nose, trying to get her back into at least a semi-conscious state. He had no idea what led to this, but they needed to get moving if she didn't want to freeze out here.

After about an hour of prodding and pulling, Greer managed to lift herself to her weary hooves, and walk/be pushed up the first two hills. When they reached the second one she spotted a herd below. They all turned their heads curiously, some pinning their ears, some perking them in welcome. Delvin continued to nose her shivering hide along and she obliged and ambled down the slope, nearly falling flat on her face quite a few times, if not for Delvin hold her tail between his teeth to steady her.
When they got to the small band of horses she heard one of them bark out orders and all of the sudden they were crowding her with their tails to the wind. Heat rose of their thick furred hides, thawing her frozen bones. She didn't fall asleep, no. But she just closed her eyes, and thanked the unicorns who may or may not exist for sending her an angel.

Delvin did his best to hold back the irritated noises begging to leave his mouth. He didn't want to woozy loner to get the wrong idea, though. It wasn't that he was irritated with having to help her, but rather he was irritated by the weather and most importantly, the damn snow. It was like wading through the thick forested undergrowth of the Southern Island, only colder.
Finally, after what seemed like hours, they crested the final hill and Delvin saw the herd huddled together in the small valley. As they approached, the paint wasn't surprised to see the herd crowd around Greer, effectively shielding her from the brunt of the wind. Even he joined in the circle. It wasn't something he'd usually do, but he was chilled himself after that journey. He gave himself a shake before settling in, trying to get some of the ice off his coat. He watched the mare shut her eyes, and he wasn't sure if she went to sleep or passed out again, but at least she didn't have to worry about predators or the elements for the time being. He'd seen horses bounce back from worse.

By the dawn of the next day, nearly all the wind had ceased, and the snow no longer fell from the sky. Sunlight glistened on the surface of the sparkling white powder, and the blue sky reflected on the icy trees and bushes. Greer hadn't gotten much sleep, only about a half an hour. She was in alot of pain still, even though she'd been rescued. Her wounds felt hot but freezing at the same time. Burning cold. When she managed to lift a heavy eye lid, she was looking the face of a stranger. She jumped backward, nearly falling over, but she managed to collect herself with a frustrated snort.
"Well i.." She started before begining to hack loudly. Blood dripped from her mouth as she coughed into the snow. It was a hoard, dry sounding, empty cough. She licked the blood off her own lips, and closed her eyes with a wince. Her lungs ached at the effort it took to breath. her skin stretched tightly over her protruding bones, and her eyes were clouded over and glassy. Her mane was in a tangle of knots that if not fixed soon would turn into dreads. S
She looked around nervously for any sign of her friend Delvin, guessing it was he who had brought her here. She forgot most of the previous night, only remembering being led by a brown and white stallion, and then being surrounded by warm bodies.
"Delvin?" She called out hoarsley.

After an couple hours, Delvin started to feel a little too warm. Being around this many horses was stifling, and just downright unpleasant for him, so he backed himself out of the huddle and wandered off a bit. He kept the group in sight, but the cold wind was a stark relief for him. It blew through his mane and whipped his tail about him, but he didn't mind at the moment.
He stood alone for a while, keeping watch over the snowy expanse, looking for anything that might be looking to cause trouble. No doubt the predators on the island were particularly hungry and on the prowl in conditions like this. Nothing ever revealed itself, however, and the next thing to catch his attention was one of his herd mates lifting their head suddenly. He figured Greer had probably come to her sense and gave one of them a fright. He snorted some snow away from his nose and made his way back over to the group, shouldering his way in between a couple of his herdmates. He spotted the loner looking rather worse for wear in the center. He hadn't a clue what she'd been doing these past months, but it definitely hadn't been healthy. "Ya' alright?" he questioned, giving the mare a sniff. He was no healer, so he didn't have much of an idea about just how severe her injuries were.

"Im fine!" Greer snapped, her voice cracking. But she wasn't, nor did she look it. Her body was shaking and covered in deep cuts, one of them still bleeding profusely. "Where am I?" She requested. She limped away from the other horses, swishing her tail in their faces angrily. She pinned her ears against her neck, one of them was missing the edge.

Delvin avoided the defensive whipping of her tail and hoped his herdmates had the sense to realize she didn't mean anything by it. He presumed they did, though, since they saw the state she was in when he brought her to them yesterday. He followed as she stalked off, though the action was muted by the apparent limp in her stride. He gave her a good look, now that she was standing, and his first assumption was that she fell off a cliff, or something of the like. He didn't know how else one horse could sustain so many injuries at the same time. He narrowed his eyes at her, not wanting her loner-esque attitude to impede with his questioning, "What happened to you?"
