Ba'Yagu breathed. Everything around her felt oh so wrong, tainted and wrong. She had hoped so strongly that the unicorns had found their way home - back to Aphlantis, but knowing that they had remained on the crescent after all these years brought so many feelings and thoughts she could hardly thwart the wave of them that crashed over her. She had hoped she could protect the loners here - keep them sheltered from the destruction that was to befall the mortal horses on the outside. It seemed she had only created the destruction herself, surely when her former herd found her she'd be the first to perish. The scar of the outcast on her stomach itched, a constant reminder of who she was and what she had done. Her heart hurt in so many ways, and yet still she couldn't help but feel a pang of hope. If the unicorns were still here - if Aphelion hadn't abandoned the mortal world, maybe Eve was still with them. Remembering Eve sent another wave of emotion through her and she closed her eyes. Eve was probably dead.
A rush of wind brought the witch back to her senses. Wind, it felt so nice, and yet a ball caught in her through. She shouldn't be feeling wind. The forcefield around her and those she chose to protect flickered. She'd held it for months - and now it was going to fall. Panic arose in the mares stomach.
"Beartooth! Godric!" Her voice was high pitched with worry, the two had followed her so blindly so faithfully and this is where she'd brought them. The guilt was overwhelming. "Enigma, Kiro! We must go." She didn't speak another word to those with her - she felt there wasn't any time to explain what was happening. Even if there was, they'd surely doubt her powers if they knew they were faltering.

When Ba'yuga had gathered the loners to the great pine all those months ago, Godric would never have guessed where she would have taken them. What she would have revealed to them. He had been excited as she told the gathered loners about the mysterious island, one that had not been seen by any mortals before. Both himself and his silent mate were greatly curious about the air of mystery and emotion Ba'yugas words had held, and followed her eagerly to the island...but now, he was losing confidence in his decision to follow the wise, old witch. If he had known he would become a father in the coming months, he would have shaken his head and thought of his family before leaving to explore new land. if he had known, he would have-
Godric shook his head. No...Ifs or coulds would not get them off this island. Questioning his past decisions would not save his family and the other loners who had followed Ba'yugas hoof steps. With a deep sigh, Godric turned his head to look up at the massive trees that were shielding the loners from the cold elements of the island...that and Ba'yugas force field. He continued to stare at the seemingly never ending leaves and trunks, his breath coming out in soft puffs of mists. He never would imagine that the island would get so cold so quickly. After a few moments, he turned his head away from the sky to his mate and child, who seemed to be sleeping softly. He smiled faintly as Griffin nuzzled against her mother's front legs, ears twitching softly as she dreamed of only good things Godric hoped. He shifted slightly closer, lowering his head so he was nearer to Beartooth's.
As cold wind hit Godric's face, he laid his ears flat, and raised his mighty head once more, turning to where Ba'yuga was standing. When she called his name, Godric gently nudged Beartooth, and then Griffin "Wake up, something is not right..." once both were up, he trotted over to where Ba'yuga was, making sure that Griffin followed with them.

Ba'Yagu moved her feet quietly in place as she waited for the loners to gather around her. The time they were taking was painstaking, and she only hoped they would all rise soon so that they could begin their journey off this Island. As Godric came to her side she let out a deep breath that she had been holding for much to long. Looking at the young soul she couldn't help but feel another ping of guilt. The witch shook her head, it was so sad he had to be born at such a time, and to such a lovely couple. At least they were together, for that she could be jealous of them.
"Godric, could you help everyone up... we haven't heard the unicorns in a few days now.... I think its safe to start moving" She tensed, knowing full well that leaving out the truth was as much a lie as any. She just didn't want to scare the small group more than they already were. She leaned down to look at Griffin, "Do you want to help too" She smiled, such wonderment was always in the face of youngsters.
She brought up her head to godric then, her muzzle close to his ears, "Truly, I think now may be the only chance we've got" the words felt like thorns as she spoke them, worried that gravity of the situation was much higher than the others thought.

The unicorns were not the beautiful, myterious fairytales that her mother had filled her head with as filly. No - they were real, they were frightening, and they were malevolent. Beartooth's faith for the witch was getting weaker by the minute, just like the force fields the witch held up to protect them all from the island. The unicorns were far from happy about the band of Loners showing up on their island. There was worry in the witch's voice, it was clear as day. Beartooth feared for her safety and often wondered if it was perhaps too late to turn back and leave. She had not only her own life, but also her newborn daughter's life, to worry about. It was unfortunate timing for her to give birth on the island, but she had not planned to still be hiding away with the other Loners.
Her eyes fluttered open, bi-colored orbs peering around in a sleepy haze. "Ooookay...give me a minute," she released a yawn and rubbed the side of her face against her knee. Beartooth rose up onto her feet, stretching her legs as she did so. She looked down at her daughter, the filly stirring awake as well. A soft smile twitched at the corners of her lips. "Come on, Griff," Beartooth said in a gentle tone, helping the filly up onto her feet. She glanced up to the dark overcast of clouds, wondering if a storm would be arriving soon. She ensured Griffin stayed close to her side as she approached the witch, in tow of her mate Godric. Beartooth felt a shiver race along her spine.

It had been months since the race that had caused Enigma to lose and miss out on the great adventure beyond the wall, but While Enigma was sad to miss out on it, Hearing the stories that the other equines had told, Enigma was glad to have missed it. Enigma was quick to group back up with the Venerable Ba’Yagu once she returned to that wind swept beach and ancient forest, eager for stories and to hear what was beyond. The tales of Unicorns at first were very interesting but it seemed that his fellow equines were not welcome on the crescent Isle. This point was driven home by Ba’Yagu’s insistence on force fields and the constant threat of capture.
Enigma awoke to the sounds of worry and large mammals moving around, at first he was not too worried, that is till the time of day hit him. Looking around he surmised it was still much too dark to be morning yet. Then he felt the wind and heard Ba’yagu speaking. Enigma swung his large head towards the Venerable Witch, his one good eye taking in that everyone was gathering around her. Enigma surged to his hooves then shook out his fur and mane, it was going to be a cold day if the clouds had anything to say about it, it seemed.
The large chimeric stallion made his way towards Ba’yagu to see if he could help or maybe catch what was going to happen that had everyone awake this early in the morning slash late at night. Enigma took care to note where Godric and Beartooth were, in the past months since arriving on the isle they had spoken a few times, he thought, but Enigma was just worried that he would run into them on his bad side or worse, bump into their small filly. Enigma had made quite enough mistakes on this adventure so far. He was not going to start this cold day with another one.

Kiro had laid down late at night and only caught a few moments of sleep once he was sure that the rest were completely immersed in slumber. He wasn't about to become so careless as to suddenly and blindly trust this band of wanderers. However, he had grown used to using short bouts of sleep for fuel in the past and felt himself coping just fine. When the witch called, he simply opened one of his lime green gradient eyes and sighed at the commotion. What was it now?
Perhaps it hadn't been the best idea to return to crescent after his short trip back to the mainlands. He had needed some time to think, and it had done him well to reconsider his initial plans for when he reached the island. It was mostly the glimpse of the unicorn stallion he had seen that made him search for a better strategy, with which he had been able to improve his gift. Now though, the urgency in the powerful witch's voice seeped with an underlying danger. Why else would she hurriedly wake them so? Kiro kept calm though, as he always had, and smoothly stood to his feet to walk slowly over to the small group that surrounded her. Eyes betraying a hint of curiosity, the loner thief glanced her way. "Milady, are we altering our location so soon?" his voice danced with a courteous tone. What he couldn't help was to look over the group that was with them, a family with thieves which was interesting to say the least. At least he wouldn't be the only rotten apple amongst the lot of them, though he hadn't minded it in the past.

Godric looked at the nervous mare, who seemed to be shivering. Whether it was from fear or the cold wind, he was unsure. He nodded at her words, and pulled away from Beartooth and Griffin, beginning to trot between the remaining loners, tell those still asleep or lying down to wake and gather around Ba'yuga. When he was finished, and confidant that everyone was up and moving towards Ba'yuga. He turned and trotted back to where his family was standing, and gently nuzzled Beartooth's neck before giving his attention to the old mare "That should be everyone," he spoke, glancing around to make sure no one was left behind.
Griffin smiled shyly at the witch, her eyes widening as she looked into her pale blue eyes, emotions mixed between scared and curious. Griffin looked up to her mum, and nuzzled against her leg, shivering slightly from the new cold wind that rushed along her short fur.
Godric smiled faintly at his daughter, and leaned his head down slightly when Ba'yuga stepped towards him. He felt his heart sink slightly when she whispered to him, and nodded faintly, glancing at beartooth and Griffin before looking at the witch "what do you intend for us to do?" he asked softly, licking his lips "how long do you think it will be before they are here?" he glanced around quickly, feeling a shiver run down his spine, as if someone had gently touched his back. "You have been keeping that force field up for months, are you going to have the strength to move with us?" he gently asked the mare. He had watched her keep the force field up for the months that they had been stranded here, and had always wondered how she had kept that up for so long. Sure, she may be much wiser when it came to magic, but any horse would soon get tired from something so strenuous.

Ba'Yagu Continued to shiver under the stress of the breaking force field. She was tired, it was going to break. Those around her were questioning her motives, she could feel it from their stares - like fire on her skin. The witch would get them out of here safely, she had promised herself that. She didn't intend to break under the pressure, not until she'd fulfilled her promise to the loners she'd vowed to protect. It wan an oath unto herself. She shifted her eyes to look at those that had gathered behind her - sharing a quick glance with Godric.
"I'm not going to hold the force field up when we move" She stated it plainly, it was not a decision to be discussed, it wasn't a decision at all. "... Because the force field is going to break regardless. I can't hold it anymore" The confession put a contorted, pained look on the witch's face, but she would not lie to them anymore. "We need to move now, or we risk capture. I cannot stand to find out what would happen if they found you all. We'll head south - and we'll move quickly"
With a certain solemnity she turned to the west, as if one last goodbye to home she hadn't seen in what felt like centuries. She would never go back there again.

The witch's words about the force field was hard to swallow, but it was the truth, and Beartooth solemnly accepted that. She cast an uneasy glance to Godric before she turned to follow in the direction the witch turned. She gently nudged at the Griffin to follow her, moving at a brisk walk with the filly. Her stomach felt like butterflies at the thought of the unicorns coming to get them. Beartooth glanced back to the other Loners with them. She was not familiar with the others, though she could have sworn she recognized the buckskin stallion. The other stallion with them was one she had really never seen before. His flashy coat had him standing out amongst the otherwise dark-colored group. For the majority of the trip she had said little to anyone, only speaking up when needed. The most talking she did was either with Griffin or with Godric,.
"Ba'Yagu...," she swallowed, trying to keep her voice from shaking. "If worst comes to worse, I want you to promise me that my daughter will be safe...," she paused before continuing again, "she has more to live for than me if I am to die." She glanced to her shivering filly.
She wanted to pray, but who would she pray to now? Praying to unicorns would do her no good...

In the long weeks that they had been hiding and moving on the crescent isle Ba’Yagu always kept them all safe, But to hear that they would be moving south once more back to the wind and water wrecked beach and the path of snakes that they had crossed all those moons ago was an adventure all its own. The strain of keeping them all safe had apparently been wearing the venerable Ba’Yagu down till she could no longer hold the fields up any more. This made sense even leaders needed breaks and with all the worry and questions over the last couple weeks had to have worn on Ba’Yagu worse than the threat of war back on the other isles.
“I am ready to follow you once again Honorable Ba’Yagu whether to the gates of capture of to the fires of war, You have kept us safe this long… Hopefully we can help you on this journey.” Enigma’s deep voice rumbled softly as he prepared himself for the impending on trek, the threat of an Equine attack still nagging at the back of his mind.
To Enigma anything that could scare someone as powerful as Ba’Yagu was no god or deity, they sounded more like a Daemon… Or like his father from the Olde herd. But this time Enigma would not voice his ideals and draw the ire of the group. If his father had beaten one thing into his skull it was to keep your thoughts to yourself, well that and how to take a hooves to the muzzle repeatedly… and how to survive beatings. ‘Keep your mind in the here and now boy. They may need you, be more then useless for once in your life!’ Enigma’s father’s voice resounded through his memories, bringing him back to reality faster than a bite to the withers.

Though it was not foreign, Kiro was beginning to feel sick to his stomach that the individuals present were practically up the witch's behind. Sure, he was known for his silver tongued charm but he did it to not be suspected and to sustain the possible gain of putting up this facade in the future. These horses, they simply wanted to be a "special friend" in BaYagu's eyes and hope for special help. How insanely, mind-numbingly boring. Perhaps he should let himself be caught by these malicious unicorns, it would probably prove more interesting than this group who seemed to strategically ignore eachother's presence. Though he supposed, most loners ignored eachother in some way just as the witch had ignored his words. It was perfectly fine, he was used to not being heard after all. Calm wandering eyes glanced over the thieving family, they were clearly not acting their kindness and Kiro wondered how they ever got round to stealing something this way... They seemed so mild and good natured. It truly was a mystery how those with a conscience thought they could ignore it and becomes thieves. Was the child a part of their strategy?... No, it didn't seem like the mother was capable of involving an infant in any stealing. Which was a shame, really, since it was a pretty good tactic.
Then his attention went back to their threat, and without waiting around kissing rears like the others Kiro simply began trotting nonchalantly in the direction the witch had given them. If the danger was as real as it sounded, should they not be moving instead of herding around and probably inducing instant claustrophobia in the witch? Though, he had to say he was quite interested in an encounter with these unicorns. Surely, anything they carried was worth much more than any plain old mortal could ever afford?

Godric frowned slightly as he mate spoke, but nodded, agreeing with what she said. Griffin was young, and had a much longer life to look forward to. With an small optimistic smile, he lowered his head so it was down to Griffins, and playfully nibbled on her hair "come on, Grif" he said softly, beginning to walk in the direction Ba'yagu had pointed them to. Griffin let out a quiet yawn, but began to follow her dad, smiling softly. Godric looked down at her and smiled, so innocent, he thought, smiling a bit more.
With a heavy heart, Godric lifted his head and walked with the other loners. Some seemed confused and in a stupor, and followed those in front of them blindly, not quite caught up on the situation. Others had shifting eyes, and were shivering from more than just the wind. They never would have expected that the lone island would be inhabited, let alone with Unicorns, and now they were paying the price. But why are the unicorns so defensive, Godric thought, his thick brows furrowing slightly, Surely we did not do anything to upset them...asides from destroying their wall. From Beartooth's tales, she had been kind and had bowed to the once mythical beasts, and had been anything but kind to them. Maybe they just do not trust us...or maybe they have plans hidden that they do not want to be seen. Godric shook his mighty head, and glanced down at Griffin once more, who was trotting slowly to keep up to the long strides of the tall horses around her. He looked to Beartooth, and smiled softly, admiring his mate.
Griffin raised her head to look at her parents, her fluffy ears standing tall "where are we going?" she asked softly, curious as to why they were moving. They had been staying in the one spot for a while, and Griffin had grown used to the tall, looming trees. She had fun playing hide and seek with her mum and dad, running around the large trunks until she was too tired to continue. But now they were moving, and the shadows that danced around the strange adults frightened her slightly.

"Nor you or your daughter ill die" The witch wanted to promise this to the young mother - remembering her own blood. Her children were long dead - she had accepted that long ago. "I'll die before I let that happen" she spoke quietly, but her vow was true. Ba'Yagu nodded her appreciation to the calico-colored enigma. She was happy to have at least one horse's support in this mess that she had created. She smiled gently at those around here, but would not waste their time with further a-do.She felt her heart sinking as the force field flickered around them - she'd hold the small bubble as long as she could but it would be gone before they made it off the Island.
"We're going on an adventure" She clicked her tongue with an uncomfortable smack against the roof of her mouth, "Griffin, an adventure to a better place" The poor foal hardly knew a life- and all of her breaths had been taken on the small Island - so full of danger and dark memories. Ba'yagus moth twisted and she trotted off towards the east, hoping they could make it off not only this island safely, but the Bachelor's territory as well. Still, the Bachelor stallions respected her more than unicorn kind.
