Beartooth felt herself panic even more at the words the unicorn spoke. There was no way that those unicorns would lay a single hoof on her daughter. She followed the direction the witch was heading, afraid of looking back and seeing the unicorns. Where was the witch taking them? Wouldn't it be dangerous to run back into the forest? The wall and the landbridge that laid beyond it was the only escape they had. The witch had to be going mad but Beartooth felt she had no other choice but to follow her.
"Griffin! Godric" she called out again as she entered the forest. She narrowed her eyes, looking around frantically. They couldn't have gone too deep inside the forest. She was determined to find them and reunite before they left the island. No one was going to get left behind. In her mind she tried to think of where Griffin might have ran. Perhaps she would have tried to hide in the bushes or behind the trees. Beartooth had taught the filly some tactics about hiding in case of danger. The witch was getting farther and farther ahead, Beartooth was slowing her pace in her desperate search, and the unicorns were getting closer and closer...

As Bayagu ran, she noticed the sound of hoofbeats slowing behind her. She frowned deeply - they could not slow down, and yet she skidded to a stop. He eyes frantically looked for the others when she finally landed her gaze on the young mother. She felt a pang in her gut - she knew the look in Beartooth's eyes. It was all too familiar to her. She looked back to the forest and too the spotted mare again. Her throat was closing around her words, but she managed to choke out her shout.
"Beartooth we have to run!" her chest tightened. Her first gift would be of great aid to her now. She could hone in on the father and their foal - but she could not focus seeing Beartooth stand as still as she did. "Beartooth! We'll find them!" The northern land bridge was so much farther north. It would take them at least an hour to get there. Her legs shook in anticipation to begin their flight again. With Alistair on their heels - they could waste no time. He had limits, but theirs were shorter - would come onto them faster.
"Please!" She didn't know how to make the spotted mare move. She closed her eyes. Godric was around - pin pointing him was the hard part.

Alistair ignored the buckskin who had turned to face them head on, trusting that his partner could handle a single mortal. These horses, these creatures, were no less than vermin come to infect their home with filth and disease. To fight them would be as easy as stomping on a rat under-hoof.
"Ba'Yagu..." He murmured as he flitted through the trees, the name tasting like poison on his lips. He shook his head, trying to maintain some semblence of a grip on himself. He was old enough to know that rage dulled the senses, making experienced unicorns clumsy. With the witch in sight, he couldn't afford to let his anger consume him. She would take advantage, as she always did (and at that thought his heart gave a single, furious leap, raging against his ribs like a wildcat), and then- then he would know King Valraldic's disappointment.
No. He could not shame the Crown with his rash vengeance. Alistair snarled, and turned his sights to something else: the spotted coat of an appaloosa mare, calling for her family. Alistair turned on his hooves and barreled towards her, his gift powering his speed. He hoped to hit her with the full force of his weight, to knock her off her hooves and perhaps steal the breath from her lungs.
Would Ba'Yagu be loyal enough to come to her defense? He hoped so, yet he knew how fragile the mare's allegiance was. When you ceased to be useful, you were forgotten.

He could feel the chimera unicorn's eyes on him, but felt no measure of unease or intimidation. No matter what his parents had told him long ago, their kind had no impact on him and he had never been devout to their religion the way his elders had wished him to be. He had always found it foolish to thrust something as fickle as faith solely on some mystical beings no mortal had ever encountered. Besides, what did his parents know anyway? They had been weak in his eyes, despite their dedication to the religion. What had it ever done for his mother but cling on to some imaginary hope that eventually drove her insane with desperation? Nothing.
"Help?" the word seeped off his tongue like thick tar, laced with an incredulous edge in his calm tone. "Do you paint me a fool, sir?" he replied with the raise of an eyebrow, a quick glance travelling over his shoulder to try and see if the others were making their escape. "We are with the witch, Ba'Yagu" though he detested the arrogance of these beings, the curiosity of obtaining information on others lingered in the back of his mind. "Why do you hunt her, for it is clear where the focus lies here" he remained calm but impatience started to grow with the unicorn's cryptic attitude. "Lies?" he echoed, eyes focusing on the individual questioningly now "and what sense is there in hunting us this way if you claim to wish to aid us? Do you think this-" he motioned his head to the chaos that surrounded them "is going to gain any trust from us and withhold us from thinking you are not the one telling lies?". His voice was monotonous, but his stare was intense. Despite the fact that he did not trust Ba'Yagu, as he trusted no soul, he was beginning to feel these unicorns deserved even less of it. For beings that were supposedly so evolved, they sure were tactless. Kiro had gained much knowledge in how to get others to trust you blindly, and hunting them down with furious blood-thirst had never been one of his strategies.

Godric rotated his ears as he moved with Griffin, keeping the foal in his line of sight at all times. He wasn't sure if they had gotten turned around or not, but knew that they needed to find the beach, or better yet, rejoin with the other loners. He took deep breathes to keep himself calm, scanning the surrounding trees and plants constantly. He felt himself grin when he spotted the spotted mare charging into the forest, concluding that they had gotten turned around, but he also spotted the golden stallion, madness in his eyes, preparing to charge for Beartooth. The Griffin was running ahead of him, straight into the golden stallions war path. Godric's eyes widened, and he didnt hesitate to charge at the stallion, screaming "Don't you touch her!" and managing to crash into the side of the horse, near his rear, and divert his path out of Griffin's.
Griffin's eyes widened as she saw her mommy, dashing to meet her. Then her daddy was charging past her, into the stallion she hadn't noticed. She screamed, running faster to Beartooth, dashing between her legs and to the front of her, hiding and nuzzling her leg, tears running down her face. She opened her eyes, and looked up at her mommy.

Pippin wanted to roll his eyes at the mortal, it was hard to speak to such a simple creature- at least that's how pippin felt about it. He spoke as if the unicorn didn't know what he was doing and that frustrated him. Still, he refused to show he felt such irritation from those considered low and evil. Pippin blinked at the thought. That's what the mortals were - he had been taught for most of his life that the mortals of the Chevalin Strait were evil, manipulative- twisted. He sighed, he would not be pulled down by such intentions. Still - he wondered, were they born evil? What about the child? Could that be changed?
"She is the reason we haven't been here to protect you" He brought his voice low - in a way it was true. If she had not sparked the evilness that was resting in the mortals, the great compromiser wouldn't have had to hide them away. His force field bliped in front of his face- dancing around to make the little wall he had conjured to block the entrance to the outside. "Can't you see? We're hunting her - not you. She must be felled before any more are hurt.... and well" he felt he should look down at the thought, but kept his eyes level with Kiro. He wondered if the mortal being possessed any logic. He hoped he did. "Even the simplest beings should understand that the many come before the one." He thought of the foal. He didn't like children - but he hoped that they could save her from the broken world that they had been unleashed upon.
"You could not possibly understand the gravity of what is upon us, do not forget that it was you who ran from us before we could speak" He spoke low still, his voice wondering if there was any sense in speaking to the mortal. If there was one thing Pippin never did - it was lie. "But if you wish to aid that who could be your end, I suggest you run" He was annoyed, but he wasn't going to move from his spot blocking the wall until he was sure the others had forgotten about it- and this one obviously hadn't.

"I have to find my family first!" she cried at the witch's words. "Ba'Yagu, I cannot continue on until I find them, please...please help me!" she begged her. She knew the unicorns were hot on their heels, she could hear them getting closer, but she had to look. Her eyes widened as she heard the sound of thundering hooves, and then much to her surprise, she heard Godric's voice screaming. She scrambled to get out of the way and she watched with wide eyes as Godric collided with the unicorn. Beartooth cringed at the impact. Griffin ran right to Beartooth, ducking between her legs. She seemed to be shaking madly with fear, tears in her little blue eyes. Beartooth swallowed hard and ushered the filly to get back behind the witch as she moved forward to aid Godric in taking on the unicorn. She was small compared to the unicorn, and he was probably far more powerful both physically and magically. But together her and Godric might just be able to take him on. She hoped that they could knock him out temporarily, at least bid them and the other Loners enough time to get a good distance from the unicorns.

The world was chaos, and Ba'Yagu could hardly function bet ween the screaming and her own panicking heart. As Beartooth shouted for her to consider the family they might be leaving behind the witch could feel her heart nearly tear in two. She didn't want to do this to the young mother - it wasn't fair. But they couldn't stand here and wait for Godric and Griffin to simply show up- or maybe, they could. As the two came barreling into the small area Bayagu found herself reeling in shock. She had been far too focused on the situation at hand to even pay attention to her sixth sense and suddenly everyone was upon them. She didn't know whether to feel scared that now all four of them were in danger or happy that Beartooth had found her family.
Bayagu took a deep breath. Someone had to think fast on their hooves, and it looked like it had to be her. She took a breath, letting her senses tell her where everyone was. She could not always rely on her failing sight. Yagu breathed in. Pippin was still at the wall, Kiro was with him. Damn Kiro, why wasn't he running? She couldn't sense Enigma at all. Where had he gone? She hoped he was far north by now. Beartooth was with Griffin and Godric had barreled into Alistair. The situation was absolutely sub-optimal. Bearooth was running to aid her husband. They wanted to fight him. Her eyes welled with disbelief. They would not win, but she could.
She breathed out.
She was not called the Witch for nothing, and while her Force Fields had failed her - the witch had more gifts up her sleeve. She cried out as she turned and ran in the direction of the fallen Godric and Alistair. She stood between the three of them - Beartooth standing strong and the others sprawled out on the ground as they were.
"Godric, Beartooth, take your family and run north" her voice was hardly a whisper. "There's a land bridge there... it will take you to Olde, whatever you do... don't look back" She stared down at Alistair. It seemed there was no pain, no confusion in his eyes. Did he no longer wonder why she had chosen to lock him away? Had all his feelings turned to hate? She gulped her feelings down into the pit of her stomach. She wanted to vomit.
"Is this what you want Alistair!" She shouted, her voice bellowing out from her gut, "To bring down all that I worked for?" She was ready for his worst.

Enigma lost sight of Godric and Beartooth as they ran, it was no surprise really with the old trees all around. The long borne anger that still raged in his chest clawed to be released at the injustice of it all. Nearly all his life he was beaten to respect and pray to these creatures but here he was being threatened. “Can’t you show any respect Vice?” once more his father’s hooves found their mark on his young flesh. “Keep your mouth shut unless we talk to you!” Byron‘s voice was approaching the point that Vice knew he would once again wishing for the sweet embrace of unconsciousness. “Even a mistake like you should know that the herd comes before someone as stupid as you!”
Before Enigma noticed he was moving… dancing between trees and scrubs, dodging limbs and stones, many more such incidents danced before his eyes, many blows and such screaming matches when no one in the world would help a mistake like him. Then from somewhere in the red fog a voice that Enigma could almost place came hovering into his ears. "Even the simplest beings should understand that the many come before the one."
That came from behind him Enigma thought, but he kept moving, somewhere in the scrub and groves had to be someone, anyone that would help him. There had to be one out there that would help him… Right?
Before him somewhere between the trees came a voice Enigma recognized, The voice of the Venerable Ba’Yagu, it seemed that someone besides him could make her mad enough to scream like that… "To bring down all that I worked for?" her voice held that venom that she had once turned on him so long ago on the land bridge, that mistake flashed before his eyes dancing with all his other mistakes, driving him on. Maybe she needed him, maybe she could help him. Or maybe he could find the target of her rage. Alistair, Enigma thought his name was, vaguely his face danced before him, mingling with all the other faces. He looked like a demon, the offspring of a wicked horse and a goat with his dual horns. If Enigma could run into him, maybe he could show that snide bastard what it means to be beaten for asking questions.

Godric would likely never comprehend how lucky he'd been, managing to catch the Overseer before he'd hit his optimal speed. The impact went beyond knocking him off course, for between the Godric's all-or-nothing barrage and the volatile force of his own momentum, the altercation had his hooves flying out from under him. Both stallions went tumbling, little more than a sentient dust cloud with streaks of black and gold, their hooves striking out in wild, furious panic. They found their footing at roughly the same time, and much to his surprise, the witch stood defiant between them.
Alistair bowed his head to her, a mockery of chivalry. A shaft of moonlight reflected off his horns, made them glitter like turquoise in the pale light. It was a lethal reminder of what he could do, of what he would do, if Ba'Yagu would only give him the chance. Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed the little family slithering off into the shadows, and did not care. Damn him to hell for his selfishness, but so long as he captured the witch, he did not care if a few mortals slipped through the cracks. He could only hope that his king would feel the same.
"What I want," Alistair spat, kicking out a hind leg. His tail lashed behind him, spraying dirt, the bite from earlier in the day aching. He ignored it as best he could. "is to watch you and your traitorous legacy burn to ash. If but I could, I'd drive my horn through your heart... but Lord Valraldic would see you face trial properly."
The Overseer sneered, taking a single step forward. "Perhaps when you are dead and the islands are purged of the sin you've sowed, we will find mortals untainted by your influence. Perhaps we will return to the days of the past, before you betrayed us, before the King had to lock us behind his Wall. We'll make sure that your name is nothing but a bad memory. You deserve nothing less."

As they tumbled, godric hoped that he wouldn't come in contact with the sharp horns or hooves of the other horse. He felt dizzy from the head on charge, and took a couple of seconds to regain his stance and balance. Once up, he hurried to Beartooth and griffin, blood dripping from his nose. He glanced back to the other stallion, his sight a little fuzzy. He turned back to his family, and began urging them forward "we need to move!" He said, glancing to ba'yagu "come on!" He said, giving griffin a push to get her running again. He started to gallop, teeth grit, glancing back at Kiro and enigma "everyone move!" He shouted
As her father tumbled, griffin cried out, shaking and looking at her mommy. Seeing him get up sparked hope in her heart, but the other horse quickly got up as well, beginning to yell at the witch. She yelped quietly as her dad urged her forward, beginng to run as fast as she could again.

At the witch's commands, Beartooth hurried back to Griffin and took off with her daughter and Godric in tow, running North like the witch instructed. Her hooves devoured the ground as she galloped, grass wet with dew brushing her legs. It surprised her a little to know there was more than one land bridge, but that surprise quickly faded. Certainly an island so mysterious would have all sorts of ways to come to and from it. And this second land bridge lead to the Isle of Olde! That was where Beartooth and Godric planned to go anyways, once they got off the hellhole that was the Crescent. They could really raise their family there, watch Griffin grow up big and strong, away from the oddities of this island and hopefully far away from the chaos of war.
She gave one final glance back, despite the witch's words against doing so. Ba'Yagu was standing off with the golden unicorn it seemed, the two locked on to one another, a hopefully final confrontation. Beartooth hoped they would all make it out of this alive.
Beartooth ran a little behind Griffin, surprised at how speedy the little filly could be. "Come on, darling," she urged the filly, feeling hope in her heart for their safe journey off the Crescent. It welled and overflowed, driving her tired legs onwards. She would make it, she determined. She would make it. Godric had to see his mother again, he couldn't leave her alone. Griffin had to meet Keziah, give her a role model to look up to. She needed to tell Magdalene of everything she had seen on this island. Her daughter needed to see the Ailin mountains and the Silver Wood, the City of Olde. There were so many things beyond that still needed to come to fruitation. Beartooth blinked, a tear rolling down her cheek. "That's it, Griffin." She breathed. "Faster, sweetheart, faster. Mama and daddy have a whole world to show you, we just gotta get there, okay?"

As the unicorn spoke, Kiro couldn't stop himself from letting his eyes glance at where the group was. He could hear voices yelling in the distance that made him believe they had not gotten away just yet, and this meant bad news. Then he returned his gaze to the other, eyes inspecting him and trying to size up his intentions. Usually, he was quite skilled in judging others but this one was almost as hard to read as himself. "Protect us you say?" He almost scoffed in mockery, as if the unicorns' presence would have changed any of the horrible events in his and others' lives. Luckily, he held back his judgement and returned to his polite facade. A sudden faked wave of interest coming over his expression and body language. "And by that you mean solely the herd of Olde of course?" He mused using his peripheral vision to try and see if the exit was entirely blocked. A little melodic laugh echoed from his throat, no signs of it being forced with his well rehearsed act. "Of course, you are completely right... How could a simple creature such as I attempt to understand such an age old fued?" He sighed a little as if in an inner turmoil, though it was all a manipulative game as his expression fell to pain and confusion. "I truly am at loss for what to do... Perhaps you could enlighten me?"

Pippin was hardly amused. Mockery was something he felt dreadfully ill of, but what bothered him more was not the scoff or challenge in the pale defender's sudden change. It was as if the horse was having an arrhythmia of the personality. The horse opposite to him had suddenly turned upside down, and everything felt wrong. It wasn't the way that Kiro said his words, in fact everything fell into place perfectly. The horse opposite him seemed actually interested. What cued pippin that this horse was what he hated most was the sudden change. No one that pippin knew changed opinions that quickly. Pippin had been lied to his whole life, and knew all to well the faces that were made when they tried to coo that everything was alright. He had also been raised to know that mortals were of the worst kind, and they would do anything to get what they wanted. Pippin didn't like liars, or pretenders. Of all types and walks of life, they were his least favorite of beings alive. The simple act of courtesy was enough to spark an angry fire deep within the unicorn's heart. All liars would perish if it was up to him.
One thing the other horse had succeeded in doing however, was confusing the devout unicorn. Control Olde? What was the meaning of this. Control had never been the unicorns intention in the first place, why would it be now'? A fued? Did the mortals truly think that there was a fued between the unicorns and themselves? This was no fued in pippin's eyes, Pippin was stricken by the mortals words and the thought of that made him sick to his stomach. What did this horse mean? Was he not curious to the evil doings that Ba'Yagu committed, or worse yet what type of tale was he trying to twist? Still, he was at a loss, what choice did he have but to answer?
"Your witch tried to kill the king of Aphleion, She's committed many a treasonous act at best, and a murderer at worst. Your witch likely took you here as some sort of ill willed plot against us - who have done nothing but avoid your god-forsaken land" It was apparent he had become angry, his faith that mortals could change was dropping, he hoped the mortal was enlightened.

Enima’s head was awash in rage and lost in memories of distant beatings. Sure his life before running away was torture but the here and now was just as much a torment. On the one hoof there were the two Unicorns, one of which promised a life of imprisonment and the other promised a bloody end for all involved. On the other hoof he could always run and leave the others to their demise at the horns and hooves of these monsters, but could he really leave them all to that fate and just walk away? Sure Enigma could not really connect with the other equines besides the Jake he crossed the land bridge with, and Ba’Yagu of course. Although The large tri-colored stallion did enrage her on that same land bridge.
The voice of the darker stallion came from just through some scrub brush pulling Enigma’s focus that way, although his words were lost in the sound of breaking scrub and dry branches under hoof. The large stallion found himself viewing the family running away from a disheartening sight. Ba’Yagu facing down the bigger, demonic Unicorn stallion, In that moment she seemed smaller then she had before the journey. How could they just leave her there to fend for herself? Did they not see that she was weakened by her weeks of protecting them with her magic? Before he could think of a response to any of his questions he was moving. Enigma’s large hooves digging deep into the loom of the forest floor, If the others were going to run then let them go, But even if it meant he would die or be a prisoner again Enigma could not allow Ba’yagu to fall to this villain.
With a bellow like thunder, filled with rage and pain, Enigma charged the focus of his red tunnel. If he could slow this monster down enough then she could escape and led the rest to safety. Echoing through the woods resounded Enigma’s one word of rage and desperation.
“Run!”
As he attempted to slam bodily into the bi-horned monster before him, putting all of his energy and strength into it, one last desperate act to save them all, hopefully the others could all be safe come the morning.
