KANU | STALLION | EXILE CAPTAIN
As Storm trekked into the water, and Effie followed suit, her excitement showing clearly through the way she traveled down to the beach. He motioned for the others to follow before making his own way down, tossing his head slightly. Sand was kicked viciously about as his hooves dug into the earth, his muscles aching slightly from the recent act of physical conflict. He was still somewhat high strung due to the attack, but for the most part he had calmed down as best as he could in such a short amount of time. He melted as he felt the smoothly crashing waves lap against his stomach, a large amount of dirt and sand from his coat radiating off him and into the void. He dipped his muzzle into his head and blew bubbles, snorting with irritation as some of it traveled into his nasal cavities. Soon after he dunked his whole head under, flicking it upward again, his forelock fastening tightly to his forehead. It was usually slicked back between his ears but now it was sprawled across his features, rather irritatingly at that. No matter how hard he tried to remove it from his vision, it insisted on staying, so he shunned it off and instead paddled over to Io.
He listened to her intently, nodding in in agreement, "I'm doing fine, only a few scratches here and there. Io's right, though... your wound needs tending too pretty soon as well." He eyes Io's open gash, a small hole in it pulsing, blood oozing out of it gruesomely. Kanu only hoped nothing on Io or Storm that was vital to their health- such as an artery- had been punctured. He turned his attention to Effie, arching his eyebrows before sighing, "I personally feel like we should stay here for a while, the dust can't compromise us as harshly as long as we're in the water, and that way everyone's injuries can properly get cleaned out. I mean it's most likely the safest place to be at the moment after those damned Grassbeasts." He glanced back at the way they had came, this land now felt so foreign to him. It was something he wished would go away but he simply couldn't shake it. This Island had grown distance, estranged, dangerous.
He paddled over to Storm, flattening his ears slightly, his words would be quiet enough so that no one else could hear, and he couldn't be accused of anything he may have been if anyone had heard what he was about to say. "I miss Cholena. I miss my daughter. I wish I didn't have to leave them. I-" He stopped, sighing in frustration before closing his eyes and touching his muzzle to his chest before returning his hurt gaze to her. "You know these feelings anyway. I didn't know having a family could make me so happy, but so worried and saddened at the same time." He bit his lip, touching Storm gently on the cheek before brushing her forelock from her eyes.

Eyrin let out a soft pained hiss as the water hit his wound. It stung, but he ignored it in favor of keeping an eye on the others. Everyone seemed most concerned about Stormcry and he could agree that her wounds seemed to be most risky. He didn't like Io's wound though either. He couldn't tell if the others' were completly in the safezone either but by some of their hisses he doubted anyone got away unharmed and even a scratch could get infected -again he knew from expierence-. "I'm fine," he grunted in answer to Stormcry's question. He was hardly the main concern here, his wounds weren't that bad and his healing rate sped up thanks to his gift. He listened to the others discuss what to do and seeing the sand whipping up by the air, he could agree that staying in the water was better than facing the storm right now. He wondered about afterwards though. This was hardly a permanent solution and if they stayed in the water too long, the flesh around the wounds would grow weak what he doubted was positive for the healing process. He wondered if they would want to return to the green land or keep traveling on to who knew what. He loved his island, he missed his home, but risking his herdmates for it... He didn't lnow about that. "What will we do ce we can move again?" He questioned to nobody in particular.

STORMCRY | EXILE MARE | GUARD
As she watched, one silver eye still clouded by blood, her herdmates entered the water each with a grimace at the sting. She couldn't blame them; her own wounds throbbed agonizingly from the salty liquid. Majority of them seemed concerned for the mangled flesh upon her belly that still oozed blood consistently, and though it pained her to admit so, she knew it was in her best interests to get it treated as soon as possible. A frustrated look twisted her expression for a moment- here she was, letting down the team again- before a rattling sigh heaved past her lips. "I agree with Kanu. We'll stay here for now, at least until the storm calms a little. We'll clean our wounds, and use Kanu's idea from earlier if we can venture up enough to collect some soil to mix with the ocean water to put over any injuries still bleeding to help stop any blood loss." She paused a moment, looking hesitant of what she was about to say, and hoped they wouldn't find her words patronizing. "You all did well today. I doubt even a group of Guards would have done a better job. Thank you... for following me." In practice, it sounded like a dumb thing to say; she had been assigned captain, and they were expected to follow her orders, but still, she appreciated their trust in her more than she could express.
Quietly, once they had set to work, she turned to her brother, weariness beginning to fog her features even though her heart ached in understanding as she replied softly. "I know, Ducky. But we'll get back to them. I promise. Just hang in there...kay?" Well, that was a woefully underdone response of comfort. Nice one, Storm. Great leadership skills. She thought inwardly with a mental groan of frustration with herself. Her brain felt mushy and slow...perhaps it was the blood loss?

Efflorescence | Mare | Exile guardEffie gave a gentle sigh and went into the shallower water, she looked back at Storm "You don't need to thank us, we are a team" she gave a gentle nod and fixed her stare, then dropped her head and snorted the water playfully, She looked around her and looked towards the oncoming dust and grimaced slightly, " I'd prefer to stay near the water, it'll clean wounds then we only need to cover them with mud to keep the sun off them" she gave a slight shrug and dropped and rolled in the shallow water, laying lazily on her side. She just observed those around her with green orbs swimming, she flicked an ear towards the different thoughts and feelings going and and didn't feel the need to any anyone. " How much longer do you reckon we'll be here, or how long will it be until our families can join us" her voice strained over the word family, how she longed to see Ry and Leify, she gave a little sigh and looked back to the skies. KANU | STALLION | EXILE CAPTAIN
"What will we do once we can move again?" Kanu wasn't exactly sure, to be honest, his mind had grown indeterminate on the subject of their future move. There were many possibilities, all holding their inevitable complications and their probable successes. Plus, Kanu couldn't keep his wandering mind off his family, despite how hard he tried to place this situation on the top of the list when it came to priorities. For now he'd have to battle both hills in the road, trying to juggle one and the other simultaneously. He turned to Storm, perking his ears toward her and listening with deep absorption, calculating her words and arranging them into a context he could understand. His brain was utterly caved in. He nodded though, summarizing that they'd stay in the water until the wildly raging dust cleared and the salt water had prevented their wounds from festering in the intense sun.
The dark stallion flashed Storm a smile, yes, it was forced, but he did mean to make it real. He was growing weary, and he soon began to worry that his posterior would lower rather harshly followed by the rest of his swaying body. He could see Storm growing tired as well, offering anything but a detailed, long response to his spur of the moment verbal eruption. He rarely lost his composure- when dealing with conversation that is- and now felt somewhat out of place losing it to his sister who was dealing with her own problems. He nuzzled her again, speaking beyond words with a touch. "You did amazing too, Storm. It takes a lot to not loose your authority in tense situations, and you went without fault." He himself had to inwardly groan at himself, why, for such a small and supposedly love-felt gesture, did he have to say it so rigidly? To try and limber up his response, he quietly added, "Yeah, Poppet, not too long and you'll be back with Kale and Prophet."
((TIME SKIP?))
Kanu yawned, trying so hard to hide his growing weariness- although it may have been unnecessary considering it'd be likely that most of the group were exactly the same. His shallow wounds had began to shed their infection and dead skin in the form of white, transparent flesh hanging loosely from his coat. He gazed lazily at the scenery, light wind whipping his mane from his neck. The sandstorm had settled finally, allowing the horses an opening to explore what else may be out of the ordinary- after all, that was their main mission. He watched the ground primarily, the sand beneath his feet spongy and porous, his hooves digging into the material with ease. He lingered around the middle of the group, lips sealed and lids half closed. After a while, he perked up, forcing himself to carry out the duty he was sent to do. His eyes were built to see, so that's what he'd do. Looking out closely for anything that seemed out of the ordinary. Nothing seemed to catch his eye, but a sudden layer of thick fog had began to roil around their legs. It was so thick that Kanu could no longer see the beach beneath his hooves.
"What is that?"

Io | Exile Mare | Scout __________________________________________________________________ During the time that had passed since they had taken refuge in the safety of the ocean's waters, the spotted mare had finished thoroughly cleaning her injuries and had only been previously trying to fight off sleep. The harsh whisper of the ash storm just above the beach, barely masked by the gentle thrashing of the waves beneath them, was almost all that reached her ears. Her attention had been on the storm for quite sometime, one ear fixed on her herd mates of course, but her tired mind could barely hold her divided attention. Their exchange of words barely made meaning to her blank state of thought. The scout's mind was somewhere else for the moment. She had left her heart in the keep of her beloved back on the lush green land that was the East island. With the calm, hauntingly peaceful atmosphere they were in, her mind was allowed to think of him. Her Salvatore. Where was he now? What was he doing? The possible answers to such queries made her frown. I hope he's in a better situation than we are. At the thought of her team she finally turned her head, and at a perfect time in seemed.
What is that?
What was... what?
Io turned her body, following the turn of her head. Her dark red-orange eyes settled on Kanu before she noticed the thick mist wrapping beneath them. Her eyes narrowed slightly as she lifted a front leg and took a step back. Where was this fog coming from? Her eyes traveled up from the water to the vast ocean ahead. The view that was clear only previously seemed to have been choked by this mysterious mist. But her curiosity was peeked. Cautiously the pale scout gave in to her natural desire for discovery and took a few steps forward, finding herself wading deeper into the water only to have her hoof strike a mound of sand. Her eyes widened in surprise and next she then squinted, trying to peer through the thick mist. The water here wasn't deep at all. Not as deep as it should be, she thought.
"... Stormcry? Kanu?" Their names escaped her as she gazed out ahead. No, that... that couldn't possibly be. "My eyes may be deceiving me but," her voice grew quiet before she looked over her shoulder at them. "I know a land bridge when I see one."

Eyrin stayed silent, keeping his full attention on the wounded to make sure none of their conditions seemed to worsen. He did bow his head when Stormcry thanked them for following her, though he didn't feel like the thank you was meant for him. He had done little so far, had been a hindrance at best and even now he was of little use, not able to do his job. Even the salty water and mud hadn't been his suggestion. The thought made him frown. He needed to get better at this, learn of more ways to heal horses, find a way to carry herbs around. He didn't want to let their leaders faith in him down either.
His thought and conviction were interrupted when one of his companions seemed to spot something. He immedialty looked up, watching carefully at what was wrong. His eyes widened when a landbridge became visible within the mist -when had that appeared?-. "Unless my eyes are deceitfull too, I think you are right, Io," Eyrin answered quietly. He wondered where it lead too. A part of their Island they hadn't discovered yet? Or new land altogether? Maybe there were new horses. It seemed landbridges were like borders between different herds, at least to him. The possibilities made his mind spin.
(think it's my turn? since Kanu and Io switched places?)
