As the pony stallion grew ever closer to the blinding light, his pulse began to race, his heart still rabbiting like a jackhammer. The fear of the unknown events that would occur once his entire being was enveloped made him try to force a cry for help- but nothing was produced. Nary a squeak. Everything that was happening terrified him beyond his limits, until finally, a rather luminescent flower erupted from the light and spewed forth a somewhat lava-like substance. The glowing liquid sprayed onto him, burning holes into his hide and melting the strands of his mane, until finally--
Ciel awoke with a start, panting and his shaggy coat slick with sweat. The granules of dirt were sticking to the side of his face, but he didn't seem to mind as Tem's face came into focus. "Bloody hell, you scared me ou' o' my hooves!" He exclaimed weakly, trying to stand on his legs, yet it bore no fruit. They were as wobbly as a newborn foal's, and his head was spinning. In fact, he didn't even recognize Tem nor his own King, which puzzled him even more, though not as much as his little lucid dream.
Something warm began to push itself up his throat, and before he knew it, the small form was hunkered over his knees and vomiting foul-smelling blood streaked with stomach bile. Tryin' to ge' rid o' the snack already, eh? The shetland's body shook and shivered with the effort.
Finally, as the vomiting ceased, he was able to walk again- but there was not one, but two prices to pay. His throat burned from the acid's contact, and his steps were weak and shaky from his lack of energy. He gazed upon the two faces surrounding him, vaguely familiar if not completely alien. He stared astringently at the small bay before uttering words with wispy breath.
"T-T... Tiny Tim?" he stuttered, his voice hoarse and obviously temporarily paining him. Without awaiting a reply, he turned to the taller, more powerful stallion. He only had to study him for a mere few seconds before a metaphorical light-bulb materialized above his head. "Asska?" He questioned once again- both these times were more asking himself if these were his herdsmates, and not conniving pony-nappers. Either way, he tried to act as peppy as he could to show his 'strength' whilst his stomach was tying knots, which wasn't very convincing at all.

Vasska snorted as the walked quickly through the forest. He didn't want to have Tem shy away from him anymore - but he was rather disappointed in the small bay. He was chosen as a healer from a young age - and lack of practice was unacceptable. What kind of system had his father been running? He shook his head gently, trying not to loose his place in the forest. They needed to focus on finding the others, and finding the source of this irrefutable plant. It was everywhere. It felt like perhaps they'd never find a way out of its tangles. He sighed at the bay's words however, he coudln't let the bay know how downed he felt.
"Eden can regenerate flesh, not heal a sick stomach or light our pathway" He muttered, "You're the best I've got....." he went quiet for a moment - looking at the small lights of the flowers. "What about that?" He asked, raising his head slightly towards the flowers, "Can't you bend their light?" His ears swiveled back and forth gently as if to further question his companion - when suddenly another voice caught his ears. He looked behind him just as the small pony fell off his back. He tried to adjust his weight to keep him steady - but there was little use. Ciel was on the ground again. On the ground- but awake. Vasska looked him directly in the eyes.
"Yes its us.... Vasska and .... Tim" He wanted to laugh at Ciel's speech, but refrained himself. "We need to walk now - can you do that?"
He raised his head in the direction that he had heard the screams. They needed to regroup, and fast.

Ciel was down. He'd somehow tumbled down to the forest floor and Tem had let him drop. He hadn't even stopped the small stallion from falling! He felt awful. What a wonderful healer he was, letting his patients slump and possibly injure themselves further. He glanced down nervously, but the forest was dark and he could see very little. He could certainly hear, though!
"Well, you scared all of us," he grumbled. "You ate something you shouldn't have, didn't you? That stomach of yours is going to get you killed some day, you fool!"
Tem knew he sounded off, but he was still jittery from how concerned he'd been and Ciel wasn't even supposed to be his friend anymore! It was difficult, though, not caring for someone he'd grown up with. Someone he'd once confided everything in and who'd kept him from feeling lonely. It took a lot out of him not to fall back to easy banter and even easier affection. He huffed at himself. He was such an idiot.
"Tem," he corrected, as Ciel stuttered out words. "You haven't called me Tim since you were a foal."
"You're the best I've got....."
Oh dear, Vasska sounded a touch dejected. Not that Tem blamed him. He'd received his gift for healing early, but he'd been too distracted to do much with it. He'd nurtured his talent for stealth instead. Now it felt like a wrong decision. They'd all be able to walk in the shadows, what with the canopy of leaves blocking out the light. Bright yellow eyes glanced upwards, even as his ears drooped. He could conjure fireflies at best and they snuffed out easily. But maybe in combination with the flowers...
"I can do it," he stated firmly. "I'll create light."
The bay stallion planted his hooves firmly, then focused on some of the nearby blooms. Their faint glow would have to do.
"Just believe," he whispered. "Believe."
Whispers of light gathered as he concentrated, coming together to form a glowing light that hovered uncertainly above Ciel's head. It flickered, now and then, but it held and was definitely bigger than a firefly. Tem grinned, even as his brow furrowed because he felt his energy seeping away. He'd hold this one as long as he could and then create another. He could do this!
"You seem hale enough." He glanced down at Ciel. "Stick out your tongue for me?"
He nodded at Vasska. He too could hear screaming and the air seemed to shimmer with unease. Something was wrong with the others and they needed to get back. "We should definitely move. Maybe my light can lead us. Ciel can lean on me as we go."
A nudge with his shoulder and he was next to the smaller horse. Just then Tem's light died and they were darkened again. He scowled. Closing his eyes, he concentrated again and from several directions light gathered again. Another spot of light hovered in front of them. He directed it towards the sounds.
"Follow the fairy light, I guess!"

Odette's eyes snapped wide in surprise when Eden came crashing through the undergrowth, nearly stumbling over and falling in doing so. Her limbs and mind were frozen with startled confusing and incomprehension as the appaloosa began to pull at the vines holding her down. He'd come for her, he'd really actually come looking for her. It hadn't been her imagination or a hallucination, nor had he merely just come upon her in trying to get away from the vicious plants himself. He had been purposely searching for her, and in her mind all she could think as she slithered out from under the loosened vines --thorns tearing at her already scratched and bleeding hide-- was a mantra of why...why why whywhywhy? What did Eden want from her? There was no way he'd come to save her because of who she was; not because he cared. And to Odette that only meant one thing: he wanted something from her, but for the life of her she couldn't think of what. What could he possibly want from her?
Not knowing how to process her confusion, she channeled it into an emotion she knew all too well: anger. Pinning her ears she rounded on the buckskin stallion, "Why did you do it? Why did you come looking for me? Why are you helping me?" She practically growled, "What worth am I to you? In fact, it would have been so damn easy for you to just let me get dragged off and killed; one less horse to worry about right? I am the weak link after all, I'm not worth the effort...Or anything for that matter, so why? Why are you here instead of making sure Ciel is okay? Or Vasska for that matter?!" Her voice had been steadily rising in volume for a while and she finished in a shout, panting slightly as she glared at Eden, "Why the hell did you do it?"

Wait. Wait a second. Hold up.
Odette seemed to be yelling. And angry. In fact, her furious yelling appeared to be aimed in his general direction.
Okay, that - that was not normal. You didn't yell at someone for saving you. Especially not from a horrible and horribly embarrassing death at the hands of plantlife.
Right? Right. Something was amiss, here.
As her ranting eased into shallow pants, as he stared at her with wide eyes and pricked ears, silent, as though he feared opening his mouth would give her a second wind and she'd start screaming again. He was at a loss, and thought perhaps he shouldn't say anything at all, should just turn and lead her back towards the group... but no, she was watching him, her saffron eyes boring holes into his fur. He had to say something. "Odette... I came after you because you needed my help." He said, the words spilling steady and slow from his lips, mimicking the way one would speak to a wild animal to calm it. "You're my herdmate. You needed me. That's all there is to it."
The mage let the words sink in and hopefully do what they were meant to do. Then he flicked his head towards the sound of the other's voices. "Let's find the others."
Others. Wait - where the hell was Tamera? She'd been right behind him.
"Oh, shit, Tamalli's missing." He swore. He looked to Odette, and hoped that her tantrum was over, because they couldn't afford to waste anymore time. "Come on!"

Tamera|Knight
It felt as if it was taking much longer as the vines dragged her away from her last location where she last saw Eden. Fed up with how long the stupid thing would take her she looked towards her surrounding to see if there was anything she could use as a barricaded in attempt to try and take off once she got too her hooves. In the moment she spotted a log that had snapped in half, it looked somewhat decent enough to get between it and the vines. Now it was just a matter of timing herself in the attempt to get loose from the vines. The grullo mare twitched slightly testing the dark green tendrils reaction towards her movements,it didn't make any move which was a good sign for her. As she slowly arched her neck up inch by inch hoping not to stress her current captor, she ready her jaw over the vine upon her leg.
CRUNCH
Bitter liquid seeped through the bitten vine as it split and lashed out in agony, with that Tamera bolted to her hooves and ran towards the snapped tree running underneath the large gap that it has created. She was right the vines tried to come after her again as fast as it could. Upon dashing underneath the tree she made U-turned and jumped over the tree again and as the vine followed her movements she repeated another round of dashing under the large gasp. This time it seemed to have stop as it was stuck in a loop of its own vines. "Ha, serves you right to mess with me!" She said snorting at the vines before turning her back to leave as she trotted triumphantly. Now all she need to do was go back the same it had taken her, she was lucky it dragged her in a straight line so far...

Vasska found himself drowning in the disappointment that he felt being with his team. The events that had passed had him running down hill and it was hard to see where things looked up again. He wasn't one to call himself a pessimist, but the positivity he had felt at the beginning of their trip was waning. He looked down at the ground, eyes diverted away from the other horses. He was hardly a leader to them - when suddenly Tem was talking. Well, Tem was always talking, but now he was saying something. Vasska blinked, could the young stallion finally have some sort of break through. He watched with impatient eyes as Tem conjured the light. The king smiled, perhaps things were looking up after all!
"You did it Tem!" His eyes glowed with fierce pride, and as his emotions fluctuated with the tide, the king found himself reeling in delight. They could find their way now - but first they had to find the others. As if on que - the angry shouting of what could only be Odette filled the quiet night air. Vasska's ears flicked forward and he trotted in their direction with reverie - imagining the faces of his comrades as his energy surged.
"Lets hurry Tem!" He called, though he was already ahead of his companion. He looked back to see Ciel leaning on him, "Can you trot Ciel?" he asked quietly. They were /so/ close - he could feel it!

Tem was glowing. Okay, the lights he'd created were glowing and not so much him, but he was glowing on the inside. Because Vasska had smiled at him and he'd sounded proud and while it was tough keeping the balls of light going, it helped light their way. So Tem was glowing and trying very hard to make the fairy lights glow equally as bright. He'd done something useful!
Leading the way, he stepped carefully but confidently. They'd make it to the others and they'd be fine. He knew they would be. With courage, they could do anything. Behind him, Vasska and Ciel followed at a slower pace. The tiniest of the stallions didn't look well yet, but he was alive and between them they could probably keep him upright. As he looked back, his light flickered to black again and he scowled. This was taking way too much effort. He really had to practice his gift more.
With a bright pop another appeared, though, and he trudged on. Kicking aside a rather persistent vine - they needed to stay away from his king and childhood friend, or he'd be very perturbed - he finally made it back to the path they'd been on earlier. Peering into the darkness, he thought he could make out shapes. Shapes meant the others!
"I think we've found them!" he called excitedly and took off at a quick trot. One duck, jump and twist later, he'd almost reached them.
"Ohdette! Eden! Tamera!"
He watched in fear as one of the shapes fell to the ground and a dark vine wrapped around it. What was going on? Was that vine pulling one of his companions along? Since when did plants do that!?
"Hang on!" he shrieked, dashing forward even faster and towards his fallen comrade. His light shimmered as it followed him, but it kept a steady glow. Vasska and Ciel would be able to see which way he went. Even if some of the vines threatened to close the path behind him...

"Don't talk to me like I'm a damn quiverback." Odette growled lowly at Eden's attempts to pacify her. "And I don't need you, I don't need anyone." she continued, never letting her glare falter. It seemed, however, that Eden decided that hunting down all the other idiots was more important than continuing their conversation, and so Odette contented herself to simply glaring at his hindquarters as he led the way through the forest. At least until she heard what sounded like the slightly less tiny of the tiny brown healers yelling her name. She only glanced at Eden for moment --wondering if he heard it too-- before using the sound as an excuse to get away from the appaloosa.
"Over there!" She whinnied, before cantering off towards where she could now hear the small stallion running through the underbrush, though she wasn't prepared for him to be so close, and she narrowly avoided colliding with him as he streaked by. She slid to a halt, tilting her head in confusion; if he hadn't been running towards her who had he seen?
"Ha, serves you right to mess with me!"
The shout from Tamera answered her question, and Odette couldn't help the sigh of relief that left her as she picked up the sound of what was surely Vasska and that other guy following after the sprinting healer. So they finally knew where everyone was then...the red mare sighed again --this time from the realization that they were still most likely lost and doomed to die here-- before forcing her legs to trot off in the the direction of the knight's voice.

Tamera|Knight
As the mare wore a triumphing grin as she trotted like a filly that had just grown into her mare status. Her ears perked up upon hearing a familiar voice call one each of her herd mates name. The voice belonged to Tem, which meant that she was closer too them then she had originally thought. At least in between the voices she heard Odettes voice as well which she assumes is now safe due to Eden. It was great that they were no longer separated for long, but due to all the chaotic moments they haven't even gotten half way to getting this mission done, it was like an ironically twisted comedy show.
"I'm over here!" She yelled back answering Tem, hoping he would hear her voice.
A figure loomed in the dark with a singular dim light beside it as it became less and less dimmer the closer it got, it soon revealed that it was Tem dashing towards the grullo's direction. Tamera on the other hand hadn't stop trotting with her head help high, so when the Tem was dashing towards her so fast she wasn't quite paying attention. Hopefully Tem would stop right before hand or they it could end in them begin tangled up with one another legs.

Were Eden one a more self-important horse, he might have turned upon Odette, berating her for speaking to him with such disrespect. He was a healer mage, just two ranks below the monarchy on the social ladder, and the only one alive to be born with his gift unlocked. Odette, on the other hoof, was a peasant... and one who clearly didn't know her place. She'd learn it one day, he was sure. She'd mouth off to the wrong mage or knight, and she'd get a quick kick of reality right to the snout. But it wouldn't be him that delivered it. No, pretentiousness was his brother's character flaw. While the the disdain Eden weathered from the herd at large was awful in its own right, it had done him one favor. His hooves remained firmly on the ground.
Which wasn't to say he didn't get irritated.
"You could say 'THANK YOU', it's not that hard." He snorted as she whisked past him, rolling his eyes. His tone shifted into a high-pitched lilt, making a poor imitation of Odette's voice. "'Hey, Eden, thanks for saving an ingrate like me from those scary killer plants- OW."
The dun's sudden stop had been just a little too sudden, and Eden hadn't been able to avoid bumping into her flank. He lurched backwards immediately, not because it wasn't a nice flank (objectively, it was, even if it was attached to an insufferable ingrate) but because he half-expected her to kick him in retaliation.
A flicker of light caught his eye. "Tem? Tem. Where the hell have you been?" He asked, the question rhetorical as he reached out to give his fellow healer mage a nudge with his hoof. "Are Vasska and Ciel with..." His ear flicked, catching Tamera's triumphant cry. It seemed the gang was almost all back together. Goody.

The feeling of the bay's warm flesh pressing against his made the shetland shiver; Yet he let him support his now weakened form. Though Ciel's stomach was still turning and tumbling, the overall 'sick' factor that had made him nauseous had vanished- luckily. The only thing that had stopped him from returning to normal was his lack of energy after overspending it in that one go. I'm a bloody idiot, he scolded mentally, flicking his ear and sighing. Side-eyeing Vasska and Tem, he created false emotions of disappointment radiating from them. After all, he was a- supposedly- respected Healer Mage, and he should have been able to tell that the herb he consumed was not good for his general health. With these thoughts racing through his brain, he very lightly banged his head against Tem's shoulder, secretly punishing himself for his own stupidity, but not severely.
"Can you trot Ciel?"
"... Alrigh' ", he panted, attempting to place a hoof forward to steady himself, using his remaining energy to fulfill Vasska's request, "Are we mee'in' up with-" Ciel paused. He only vaguely remembered the other three's names, but still attempted to guess them in order to not seem offensive as such. One o' them starts with a 'T'... he pondered, reaching into his muddled vocabulary. In a blurt, he exclaimed- "Tam... Tambourine! Oddish! and... Ned...?" The pony pinned his ears and awaited an answer- any answer- that would make this expedition end quicker, for his legs' sake.
"Ohdette! Eden! Tamera!"
Ciel puffed his cheeks out in embarrassment. Not only had he messed up with eating the flower, he had also messed up is teammates' names- their identities. "S... s-sorry," he stuttered, purposefully out of earshot. He didn't intend to make his herd think of him as dopey or clumsy, and he didn't want to start now. To tell the truth, he was more than happy to see them regroup, but he averted his eyes and bore a serious expression whilst leaning slightly more on his support.

Tem listened to Ciel's ramblings and nodded as if he understood. He was getting close with their names. Close, but not close enough.
"It's Ohdette," he offered. "Not Oddish." He nodded again. "Ohdette is such a pretty name. I should find them."
He made sure neither Vasska or Ciel had fallen over and then took off.
Running was something Tem generally enjoyed. His great speed and affinity for stealth meant he had a fun time dashing through the shadows and across plains. This time, though, it wasn't so fun. Vines appeared left and right, as if to grab him, and more than once he'd had to jump over them at the last second. If he hadn't had his ability and could use the darkness to hide from them, they probably would have caught him by now. Instead, he kept running towards his companions.
His companions. Who appeared right next to him. Only seeing Ohdette as he raced past her, he startled and nearly ran into a tree. He glanced back, but spied Eden next to her and figured she'd be fine.
"I'll be right back!" he shouted. "I have to go do something heroic!"
Distracted as he'd been by Ohdette's appearance, he didn't notice he'd already reached Tamera. Looking forward just as he was about to crash into her, the tiny healer shrieked and threw himself to the ground. His front skidded on the ground and his face smacked down harshly as he came to an abrupt halt. The momentum careened his hindquarters forward and he could see his tail dangle awkwardly in front of his face. Well, this was unfortunate. He winched, then looked upwards. He'd managed to slide partly under the mare he'd been running towards.
"I was coming to save you," he spoke, wincing again. "But I see you saved yourself."
Ohdette and Eden soon joined them and the small stallion glanced at them, feeling foolish.
"Tem? Tem. Where the hell have you been?" Eden nudged him and Tem sighed.
"I was helping our king." One of his lights flickered and then popped out of existence. Tem scowled and conjured another one, watching as it twirled upwards and past Tamera's face. It hovered overhead. "But apart from lighting the way I haven't been able to do much."
His back legs fell to the ground again and he shook his head, dislodging some dirt from his mane. He scooted back a bit and looked up. "Sorry, Tamera," he murmured.
"Vasska and Ciel are coming. Ciel passed out, so it's taking them a bit longer. He had me worried." Tem made a face. Trust his old friend to make him worry even though he wasn't supposed to anymore. "They weren't far behind."
He looked at the way they'd come. "Ciel?" he called. Hopefully they'd all be together again soon.

Odette rolled her eyes as she caught up to the healer and Tamera, glaring off into the forest both to keep a look out for more violent flora and to avoid having to look at her companions. She ignored whatever they were saying as it was of no concern to her; the little guy was probably saying something about Vasska --who seemed to be his favorite conversation topic--, Eden was undoubtedly being annoying, and Tamera was probably just trying to get the image of the smaller healer's hind end out of her mind. Odette almost felt sorry for the knight. Key word; almost.
The bay dun's ears pinned as a vine wrapped around a tree by her face reached a small tendril out towards her. Well, a more accurate word would be tiny. It was a fragile little thing; a baby. Odette furrowed her brows at that thought; it was a vine. Vines don't have children. She shouldn't be sympathizing with a unicorns damned plant. Especially not plants that have tried to kill her multiple times today for Compromiser's sake! She narrowed her eyes at the tendril then, snorting at it and almost accidentally coating it in frost. The plant froze in place for a moment before recoiling, shriveling up and dying while the rest of the vine seemed to coil tighter around the tree. Well, that was more morbid than she'd intended...
A glance back over her shoulder showed Odette that their last two unaccounted for companions were making their way slowly towards this impromptu meeting spot. That wasn't what caused her blood to run cold, no, what gave her pause was the fact that behind them the vines were moving. Moving to block their path. "My ability may not be observation, but based on what I can see I have a feeling we can't go back that way..." she spoke aloud, gesturing with her head towards the path quickly being overtaken by the vines.
Odette glanced upwards then, squinting to see the sky through the thick branches; trying to make out at least one star she recognized to try and get some semblance for where they were. After a moment she spotted the shape of a constellation she knew and followed one of its stars down to line it up with where they stood, finding a path still clear of vines in her line of sight. 'West...' she thought, 'to the...sea...?'
