As his companions marched into the forest one by poor-decision-making one, Eden shifted from questioning their good sense to questioning their sanity. What sort of horses willingly launched themselves into the midst of a dark magic growth spurt? Moreover, why did those horses have to completely comprise his team?
"Great Compromiser's tits. We're going to die." He whispered, watching as Vasska's tail vanished beneath the writhing foliage. He stood statuesque for some time, listening to the sound of their hoofbeats getting a little dimmer with each step. His dark tail lashed at his hind legs, and he felt his ears tip back against his poll despite himself.
He was afraid.
He could refuse to go in, he supposed. Defy the king's word and run home with his tail between his legs. It wasn't precisely honorable, but it was certainly less likely to put an untimely end to the life he was finding if not great, somewhat enjoyable. If Vasska died in the depths of the Forbidden Forest, who would punish him? If they all perished, who would know that he'd deserted?
But could he live with himself, now that was the question at hoof.
Eden stomped in frustration. No, he realized, no he could not. Those insufferable idiots were his herdmates, and he may not have liked them but by the horn, he loved them. He loved his king, giant prat that the stallion was, loved his fellow healers for all the air that sat between their ears.
The buckskin swallowed hard. He wished he'd said a more proper goodbye to his brother. 'Try not to slobber on Bloom's coat' weren't the most poetic last words.
"Wait. Wait up" He called into the darkness, easing into an anxious trot. He ducked his head beneath the twisted flora and winced as a thorn caught his coat. The small cut sparked, and then sparked again - several times, until the magic that had flowed through his veins since birth knitted the wound shut, nothing more than a spot of blood left as proof for his minor thorny annoyance.
It was a great start, he thought, expression becoming a scowl as he caught up to Vasska and fell into pace beside the king. He kept his head low out of habit; there was really no need, given that he was shorter then Vasska by over a hand. "Given that any supplies we find are sure to be tainted, what exactly are we looking for, sire?" He asked, hoping that his life was being sacrificed for a plan that was at least reasonable.

Upon the course of Tem charging into the forest it resulted in everyone just going right in without a meager of hesitation, Tamera could swear that out of all the days today she was ignored. Its true that she often is very loud and grumpy which to others seem as bossy and commanding but today it was different it seem everyone was in charge and it changed hooves every second. Since coming back from the battle field even their own Leader seems somewhat distracted, though Tamera didn't put much thought to it as she shoved her many thoughts away as it wasn't the time for thinking.
"For the love of...Why doesn't anyone understand that going at each individuals pace is gonna get you killed?" She spoke out loud in a sigh while trying to catch up with everyone even Eden has chased after Vasska while she was left behind in their march. Shaking her head from side to side she trotted in a fast pace towards her herdmates hoping to catch them soon before anything befalls them expectantly.
Beside, if something did happen the grullo mare was going to regret the decisions of going into the forbidden forest, she was the only Knight on the team as Eden, Tem and Ciel were Healer Mages instead and then there was Odette whom was just a follower. Oh how things were gonna be tight if there were predators lurking in the ominous forest, Who knows what type of mutated creatures will they find since even the plant life has undergo so much change?
Finally her stride has taken her beside an unoccupied place beside Vasska.
"Given that any supplies we find are sure to be tainted, what exactly are we looking for, sire?" Eden spoke as she arrived to hear the male asked their king.
"Are we going to observe or test those supplies if we are going to be taking them home Sire? Or are we just coming here to investigate whats might be causing the problem?" Tamera asked Vasska after Eden had spoken as to not interrupt the stallion. His mere tone of voice told Tamera that the buckskin stallion was hoping there would be a good reason to be looking for supplies that is likely to be contaminated due to whatever is changing the forms and structures of the things in the forest. It seems as if her was afraid of dying in vain if it were to happen. Then she remembered why she only preferred to stay as a Knight instead of thinking about becoming a Mage, she couldn't stand those that are too afraid of dying nor be easy targets to enemies. Its not that she wants to waste a life or anything its just she care but she doesn't like the way of thinking about saving ones hide before another. To Tamera that seems like a cowardice and low way of living life...

"I'll do a whole lo' more than make him sigh if he doesn' start actually leadin' us."
Tem glared at Ciel fiercely. "I'd like to see you try!"
It took way too long for the other horses to follow him. Not that he required their assistance - he was a proud, independent young stallion - but...he kind of did. Because simply walking away from them and into the forest was making his skin crawl. In fact, other things crawled as well. Was that a spider? Tem gulped, then glanced over his shoulder.
"Oh please don't make me go into this alone. I'm not that brave," he whispered to himself, feeling stupid. He knew he had to listen to his king's orders and he knew that he liked Vasska a bit too much, but he didn't want the result of that to be his untimely death. A death that'd end up meaningless, because his king barely knew his name and what was Tem thinking that anything other than ridicule and suicide would end up happening after this? The young horse sighed, but his mood perked when he saw the small, pretty mare - Oh-dette! - follow him gingerly into the dark. At least he wouldn't die alone.
"Welcome to the forest of creepy things!" he called back to her. "Real estate is cheap and housing endless!"
Ciel followed as well and while Tem was a bit peeved, still, about the tiny stallion's remarks about Vasska, it was comforting to see him. Together they'd made it through so many things as foals that some magic forest wasn't going to stop them now. He smiled at the thought.
"Come on, Ciel! Keep up!"
They'd be able to duck underneath the vines just fine. Some dangled down and brushed Tem's ears, but overall it wasn't too bad. They were covered in pretty flowers here or there, still speaking of something strange and unlike anything he'd ever seen. Bright pink and blue and red dotted the canopy and up ahead it seemed like they were little lights leading them into the fog. It would be pretty, if it weren't so terrifying.
"Tem, wait up!"
Tem came to a halt and looked back with glee. His king was calling! He was probably concerned for Tem's well-being and couldn't stand to see him in danger, so of course he was rushing to Tem's aid. It made Tem feel better immediately. He'd always known Vasska cared. Okay, so they barely ever spoke and when they did it involved orders and awkward bumbling, but right now he showed he cared. Except, his face didn't seem keen and he'd sounded almost...bored. As if he'd been forced into a position he'd rather not be in. Tem's ears drooped. He was such an idiot.
"Of course, my king. It's really not that bad so far, though!" he chattered weakly, glancing up at a particularly vivid pink flower. It seemed to shine, even. "The scenery is actually rather pretty."
The scenery looked like it might strangle his king, though. It hung low enough to brush his mane and dangle across his flank. He and the tall mare still outside the forest would probably have quite a tough time traversing underneath all the constricting vines. Ah, the joy of being small.
Eden and Tamera - the latter's tall legs carrying her precariously close to the flowers - too joined the party in the forest and Tem smiled at everyone as they all reached him. "Why, what luck that I should run into all of you here. Same holiday destination?" he joked.
Not everyone wanted to joke, though. "Given that any supplies we find are sure to be tainted, what exactly are we looking for, sire?"
The light stallion had a point. Tem had no idea what kind of peculiarities they were looking for. He was a healer mage and a terrible one. Finding plants had never been his forte. He poked at a nearby flower with his hoof, then watched in amazement as it shimmered and danced. It was a weird, wonderful new world they'd get to explore.
"I'm not sure whether to be excited or terrified," he whispered to Ciel. The tiny stallion looked distracted too. "We have the tall ones to save us, I guess. Maybe the mare can save you. It'll be just like old times," he finished wryly. Ah yes, the good old times. When he'd been abandoned in favour of the ladies. Oh, his life.

Each step Odette took into the forest seemed to sink her deeper and deeper into regret. Not because she was now surrounded by seemingly sentient plants, and who knows what else, but because she was stuck here with what had to be the worst possible hodgepodge of random herd members for this task. The king, a handful of healers, a knight, and a follower; it all sounded like the start of some terrible joke, and the punch line is that they all ended up dead. Hilarious.
When the short stallion --Tem was his name apparently-- spoke to her in some awkward attempt to break the tension she simply rolled her eyes at him, and sped up her pace to brush past him. Maybe he'd be less willing to talk to her rear end, and with any luck everyone else would just ignore her. As she continued forward she hardly paid any mind to the conversations going on behind her; as long as they weren't talking to her directly she didn't care.
It was then that she felt something brush against her fetlock, not only pulling her from her thoughts but startling her half to death. She couldn't help but let out a loud squeak, jumping back --only to collide with which ever poor soul happened to be right behind her at that point. Looking down she caught sight of what had scared her. It was nothing more than one of the vines that had been slithering around their hooves this whole time, and here she had gone and freaked out over it.
Feeling suddenly embarrassed, Odette pinned her ears and glared accusingly at the others around her --daring them to laugh, "It tried to grab me I swear!" She said, scowling now even as she could feel her face heating up with embarrassment.

"Old times?" he spoke as he cocked his head, flashing a sly smile,"You make us sound so old, bud. An' the tall ones?! They'll fall harder. We bounce."
He raised his brow lightheartedly at Tem, whom he had just caught up to, attempting to add some humor to the situation. Once again the bay was trying to converse with the other members of the team. Suddenly, the thought struck him; He hadn't tried that himself. Who knows, maybe they'd be squad material.
To begin with, he looked over at Vasska, contemplating if he'd provide some actual material to work with. But, he thought better of it, as the stallion didn't seem all too open about things, and would probably allocate more time to kingly duties than his social life. Mentally shaking his head, his mind wandered to Eden; The stallion had lots of speculations and rumors about him, but surely they weren't true. Were they? He made a side note to check on that later. It would be easy, after all, with that height of his. Just a look between the legs is all it would take- but the real challenge was not looking like a pervert. All these unanswered questions turned him away from the buckskin, allowing him to think about Tamera. She had potential, that was true, but her towering height would make his neck ache horribly. And Tem? He'd already hurt the stallion, but he'd fix that later. Finally, to end his pick-and-choose session that took a span of five seconds, Odette was pondered about. She was trotting ahead of him, her rump close to his face. At first he disliked the sight, but he began to warm up to it. She's go' a... rather nice rump, eh? he thought, initiating one of his many 'male gaze' moments. His eyes were involuntarily transfixed on her behind, watching her hips sway with each step. Heavens, he hadn't even gotten round to thinking about qualities and squad compatibility. This was until she let out a shrill squeak and the temporarily god-like behind collided with his face, snapping him out of his daze.
"Wha' the bloody he- oof!"
Was all he could muster before it happened. He immediately sought and explanation for her sudden jump backwards, but decided to mouth off to her before she could explain. "Wha' was tha'?! Calm down, broad, i' was jus' a li'l plant, for unicorns' sake! I'd rather eat tha' vine than eat your ass!" He continued to rant, his insensitivity not picking up on her embarrassment. In truth, he wasn't as angry as he was shocked at the sudden collision. It went on like this for a full minute before throwing a sheepish but irritated look at Odette and continuing down the path. He even felt his own pelt heating up after the show that was just put on. Nevertheless he continued trotting, dodging the vines (and occasionally eating them when no other equine was looking), and cheering on his teammates.
His head spun once again- and the world seemed as if it was situated on the sun. The flowers were fluorescent and varied in their colors, and the vines seemed to slither like skinks. In a whole new hunger to take in this seemingly reborn world, his trot fell into a sprint, completely ignoring anything and anyone. He ran through the forest- though not at top speed- his sky-blue eyes wide with wonder. What was happening? Sounds were a blur, and he was numb towards the small cuts that thorns afflicted upon him. He just kept running, his compact body not close to tiring.

Vasska's brow raised sheepishly as all (almost all) eyes turned to him. He was their king, their leader and they wanted answers. He felt a sudden discomfort at the idea, the horses of the herd had looked at his father like this. He was by no means anything like the king that had ruled before him. His eyes darted towards the writhing weeds on the ground. He had not been made for this. He tried to remember how he'd felt on the battlefield where the adrenaline had transformed him into the king his mother had always dreamed him to be. He wished that would return, and his mix of emotions would even out. He could feel how his silence disappointed those around him. He let out a sigh as they spoke, trudging deeper into the darkness of the forest as he went. If it was not for the soft glow of the red and purple flowers Vasska was sure that he would not be able to see his own hooves in front of him- still, he felt as if the forest was calling to them.
"Its an investigation" He commented, quietly towards Tamera and Eden. "However, maybe this is a blessing is disguise, I wouldn't doubt these flowers are some kind of poisonous. Perhaps we could use them as a weapon to fend of the bachelors." he chuckled, he had no idea how they'd get them to eat the lovely looking plant. " I think now I'd just like to find the source. If you look carefully, all of these vines connect. I wonder if they're part of the same plant" Suddenly even he was surprised at his urge to talk, explain to the others he could lead - that he knew what they were doing. His eyes remained fixed on a flower in front of him.
"I want to find answers, but if we find supplies on the way - be it poison, weaponry or herbs, that's a plus for me". he looked back then behind them and came to the stark realization that for every word they said they had made a step - and for every step they made they had found themselves rather from the open plains. He could no longer see where they had first entered the forest. The darkness around them gave the king a shiver. "Lets move faster - and find the source of all of this mess" In truth he wondered if the plants would continue to grow if they didn't find its center. What if it covered the rest of the Island? The king squinted his eyes, trying to get a clearer picture of the trail in front of him.
It was just as he began to feel better about what was happening when the small Ciel galloped off into the forest. "Ciel!" He cried - what in unicorn's name was his 'elite' mage doing - running off into the forest like that. He bellow escaped his stomach "Stop!" and he thundered off- deeper into the forest after the small pony.

Note: This resets the posting order - the FIRST person to see this must be the person to post next. So if you see this there's no turning back. Secondly, the posting order is completely reset - so until everyone posts once its as much a free for all as it was before. Lastly - the next post does not have to be affected the first time we post - the new posting order can have a full revolution before this party member is stolen by the plants. Its up to them when this happens - it just has to happen c: Enjoy!

If Odette hadn't been sufficiently humiliated before, then she certainly was now. The pony stallion she had previously jumped back into began to rant on --in quite obscene language-- that he hadn't appreciated having her rear end shoved into his face. 'Go figures I'd be right in front of someone who's head just barely reaches my tail,' She sighed mentally, then out loud for good measure. She was surprised, however, when the brown healer took off without much of a warning. She opened her mouth to call after him, but quickly shut it when she remembered she just didn't care.
"Ciel! Stop!" Odette swung her head back around, and took a hasty step out of the way at Vasska's shout; watching then as their king ran after the mage. That certainly wasn't something you see everyday...But just as soon as the strange scene played out did Odette begin to feel self conscious again, lowering her head and waiting for the others to pass her by before moving to follow. When she did take a step though she found she couldn't pick up her one hind leg all the way, and when she looked back it was to find a vine wrapped loosely around her ankle. 'Well, that's weird...' She thought, brow furrowing for a moment before she shrugged and shook the plant off, following after the others at a walk --there really was no need for anyone to be running, the last thing they needed was for someone to trip and get hurt.

Tamera|Knight
As the mare tried to catch up with her kings pace the mare had to doge several vines that protrudes from the tree as well underneath their hooves if one was not careful. Some brush past her legs and rump causing her to shiver since she wasn't use to the strange sensation. Tem and the other were in front a few feet ahead as Tamera could hear whispering and low chattering, at least they don't seem to scared now as they were quite a ways into the forest.
"Hmm, that's true if it was I think Ciel would have been in some major problems by now..." She said rather bluntly ending with a short chuckle as she look up where Ciel was a moment ago. The Healer mage was so full of energy for someone whom was in such a puny body. He might be weird but can be a bit of a simpleton though its not a bad things as long as no one gets hurt right?
Vasska continued to talk explaining that all the vines seem to connect to one another as if their are solemnly one whole plant directed by a center. After pondering a moment an idea came into her head when she remembered her King's words using it as a weapon to fend off the bachelor. "Sire perhaps if these plants causes physiological or physical issues temporarily couldn't we use them to mixed with our weapons just like how some use to soak their weapons in poison?" She half suggestion while ending with a question. So far all she seems to notices is some weird bubbling noise coming from Ciel when he past her by.
"Yes, Sire." She said nodding as the mares step began to hasten upon the King's words.
Tamera knew that something would always go wrong and it seems like even though these past weeks since she came back to the Olde her own attitude has change slightly. She wasn't as much hot temper and rude as before but it seems as if it will be short lived. The small stallion had ended up running deeper into the forest causing Vasska to yell out Ciel's name. Now this was something she hasn't seen Vasska had done before which was take off after the Mage in such a hurry before she could process what had happen. "Sire, be careful you can't just run after Ciel!" It was the mares turn now to yell back at the galloping king.
"I swear seriously everything is off since I got back." She sighed as she started picking up the pace to run after them. As she passed by Odette she noticed the mare had just unhooked her hind leg from one of the vines. "Are you alright?" She paused for a second where the blood bay mare was standing.
"Odette try and pick up the pace it seems as if we walk too slow it will attract them to you.Come one before we lose sight of both of them!" Tamera hasten the mare as she started to gallop in the direction that both stallions had disappear into. Night was starting to befall upon them and with whats currently happening the Tamera felt a tingling sensation of anxiety. She felt as if something was going to happen soon, but what is? She just couldn't tell. While trying to catch up to Ciel and Vasska on the way several time the grullo mare had almost trip due to the lively vines, at first she shrugged it off as if it was just her carelessness but then again it seemed like it was not a coincidence when it happen more frequently after each attempt.

Oh no.
OH NO.
Eden's face transitioned from subdued anxiety to outright horror as Ciel went crashing through the woods like a bat out of hell. For a little pony, his fellow mage was loud enough to wake the dead... nevermind the predators that lurked nearby. Eden swallowed as he envisioned it: a hungry quiverback, enraged that its sleep had been disturbed, tearing Ciel apart for sport before it made him into a midnight snack. It'd pick its teeth with the shetland's bones and--
Where the hell was Vasska going.
"Sire!?" Eden squawked. Now there was not one but two horses making enough noise that it roused the Bachelors from their violent little dreams. Wonderful. Eden hoped his remaining fellows might avoid giving chase, would approach the situation like calm, sensible adults and unanimously decide to trail their wily companions at a careful, slower pace.
Tamera thundered past him.
Well, so much for that.
Seafoam eyes flicked to Odette, thusfar the horse whose sense he trusted most. It seemed she was no more enthusiastic about galloping off than he was. "Odette!" He grunted, trotting across the writhing, awful flora to get to her side. He made a point to kick a particularly insistent vine. It recoiled as though sentient, which was not helping in the slightest. "Walk with me. We'll tail them. They've made enough of a dent in the brush that even a foal could track them."

The tiny mare Oh-dette seemed to be in some sort of mood, because she didn't even smile at Tem's joke. He was hilarious, so obviously she was just angry. Or maybe she was scared. He could imagine why she would be, looking at their surroundings. Those vines just kept shaking and tangling themselves around trees and there were strange lights all around them. Were they trying to lead them into the dark? Would they never return if they followed them, like in some of those stories his mother had told him?
"I wonder if there are fairies here," he mused. "What do you think, Oh-dette?"
He would try to cheer her up and distract her. She clearly needed it. They probably all did. His feeling was confirmed when the mare freaked out and rear-ended into Ciel. Something had spooked her and Tem's eyes flashed back and forth trying to see what. Had that one vine moved? The one with the purple flowers? Maybe that other one, dangling overhead? He was sure he'd seen something!
"An' the tall ones?! They'll fall harder. We bounce."
Tem snorted. "You bounce. Because you're all squishy and round," he said slyly. "I am nothing but firm muscle."
Ciel's responce to Oh-dette's accident wasn't as entertaining, though, and Tem sighed. His former friend could be so insensitive.
"Wha' was tha'?! Calm down, broad, i' was jus' a li'l plant, for unicorns' sake! I'd rather eat tha' vine than eat your ass!"
"You sure about that?" he asked. "I remember you being rather fond of nice behinds." He'd been abandoned more than once because a pretty mare had gotten his friend distracted. And it didn't just have to do with their shiny eyes or sparkling smile.
"I-..." he started, wanting to comment on Ciel's uncouth behaviour, when the small - even smaller than Tem! - stallion bolted. For several seconds, Tem stood there blinking. He watched the blob that was Ciel dash through the trees and then out of sight. He blinked once more, then his entire body tensed.
"Ciel!" he yelled. "Ciel, come back here! What are you doing?!"
He paced back and forth restlessly. What should he do? Should he follow? No, no, he couldn't just run off. He'd get lost and die! He needed to stay with the others and they should calmly look for Ciel. Yes, that was a better plan.
"Only idiots would just run off," he muttered to himself, trying to calm his frantically beating heart. "Only idiots would just leave and-"
He paused as their king called Ciel's name and ran off too, pushing through the foliage at breakneck speed. Tamera soon followed, though at a more controlled pace. Tem just stared at them as they disappeared from view.
A vine seemed to tap his hoof and it seemed to snap him out of it, because he lifted his hoof and head at the same time. "Sire!" he shrieked. "Sire, don't leave me!"
He ran. He ran as fast as his little legs could carry him and after his three companions. He swerved around Oh-dette and Eden, almost tripped as he jumped over a brush, then ducked underneath a large, dark-green vine before following the sound of thundering hooves and rustling leaves. He had to find his king. He had to find Ciel. He couldn't just leave his friend - his former friend, his mind hissed - to his fate. What if he fell in a hole? He was too tiny to get out by himself!
"You fool," he whined. "I am so going to die young. All because of idiot friends and hot royalty. I should just become an exile, or something."

Completely oblivious to the blur of his herdsmates' shouts, the stallion kept his pace, taking in the distorted world his mind had to offer him. The hoofbeats simply sounded like moth's wings sending rippling shivers throughout his body, soothing him beyond compare. The world that once seemed magnified and brought to life by the touch of the shadows began to slowly become more menacing, and seemingly arched above him with the same leer as a quiverback's gaping jaws, interlocking with each other. He couldn't even produce a squeak from his usually quite active jowls. His head span, and his sense of direction waned until he was certain down was forward. On top of this, his lids became as heavy as lead, the soothing effect suddenly catching up with him.
So, so heavy.
With one last spout of energy, the pony crashed to the ground, sending dirt particles flying. He had finally closed his eyes. Sleep had taken him, though he could still feel his heart rabbiting against his chest from overspending his limited stamina. Desperate pants could be heard from the stallion, his long coat matted with perspiration, causing leaves to stick to him.
OOC: so sorry for the short post!! I've been quite busy today ;m;

Odette watched with mounting disbelief as, one by one, each member of their party took off into the dark forest without a second thought. Odette had already suspected she was surrounded by idiots, but now that she was proven right she found it a bit more unsettling than she had originally anticipated. "Odette!" She nearly jumped straight into the air at the grunt, having almost completely forgotten about Eden. She merely nodded, offering a disgruntled --though agreeing-- snort in return to his suggestion; moving to walk alongside the appaloosa.
Walking beside him it came to the red mare's attention that they were actually about the same height, which was really refreshing since she was usually shorter than most anyone she would talk to. Not that she wanted to talk to Eden. In fact that was probably the last thing she wanted at this particular point in time. She stole small glanced at the other as they walked, wondering what exactly it was that made him special. What stars had aligned, what unicorn had decided he would be born with his gift? Some treacherous part of her mind wondered that if she had been more special --if she had been born with her gift, whatever it was-- maybe her mother wouldn't have left...
Odette shook her head slightly, cursing herself for thinking such things. Now was not the time for dwelling on the past. Forcing her thoughts back to the present she realized she had fallen a couple steps behind Eden, but just as she went to trot to catch up she was halted by something grabbing her left hind leg. Odette didn't have to look back to know what it was that had grabbed her.
"Ede-!" Was all she got out before the vines pulled her back into the darkness.

Tamera|Knight
Soon enough the mare just galloped on her own further and further into the dark stricken forest. Every minute passing by means some ridiculous thing will happen and this made the mare sigh until she notice how silent it was behind her did she stop in her tracks. Odette was no where in sight and nether was Eden, the two didn't seem to follow after when she started galloping ahead. Shaking her head the mare thought that this was just like one of those stupid horror stories that she heard some tell the tales of the forbidden forest. They all end up alone or caught in some kind of thing and as everyone is split up they get pick off one by one. Oh the irony of it all, why did she have to be the only knight in the team what was Vasska thinking when there would be a bunch of healer and a follower? its not like she could multiply herself and be two places at once. She couldn't even use her gift well yet either only making small sparks at most. She knew Vasska can fight on his own but what about those mages? They are mostly healer mage how they suppose to fight against something that could be stronger them them.
Now she was torn between finding her King and Ciel or whether to wander back the way she came to find Eden and Odette and regroup. The more she ponder the thoughts the more isolated and creeper the air began to feel, it was as if the air became more murkier and filled with dread.
'Great whats out here now? don't tell me their are Quiver back stalking the forest right now...'
"What to do now,go back? no I'm already near to catching up with Vasska and Ciel." she spoke out loud as if she was trying to get herself to make a quick decision unaware of the many watchful red orbs lurking in the shadows.

Vasska's thunderous hooves pounded against the ground as he searched for the run-away mage. The darkness around him made it almost impossible to see where he was going - and every step was a near stumble- he feared that with one miss-placed hoof he could fall into the abyss that was the forbidden forest. Where had the small pony gone? The king didn't know whether or not to be angry or fearful for Ciel's safety. He made a few more trot steps when suddenly he heard a crash. He stopped in his tracks, down below him was the small body of the limp Ciel - eerily illuminated by the flowers that decorated the forest.
"Ciel?" his voice shook, unable to see in the dark if the small body was breathing.
He had been about to raise his hoof to poke the brown pony when a loud shriek pierced the night - belonging to none other than the young odette. The king felt his body tense. Did he stay with the possibly dead Ciel? Or run after the screaming damsel in distress. He froze, heart beating in his throat. Unsure of what to do, but he was king - he /had/ to know what to do!
His eyes shifted from the small body towards the shriek and back. He had to save them both - at least, he had to try. Vasska arched his neck under the small pony - if only he could get him to balance on his back.
