Ryder smiled down at Greer. She didn't seem like a bad horse now that she had settled down a bit. He followed her worried gaze to see Leif trotting over toward them. Ryder gave Greer an apologetic look before turning toward the spindly legged colt. A prideful smile crept over his face as Leif stumbled into him, grinning up at him before looking over at Greer. "Hi, Leif. This is Greer," he said in a soothing voice to the colt. Leif's mouth worked as he attempted to say the mare's name. "Greeeer?" Leif said as if it were a question. The grey and white foal walked slowly toward the grullo mare, sniffing at her bandages. "You've got a booboo." He said with a small grin. Ryder chuckled at the foal's behavior. His son always seemed to bring a good mood to him. How could he not feel proud and happy when his first born was such a bundle of healthy energy? "Sorry, Greer. He's still learning," Ryder said as he nudged the colt away from the mare's wounds.

Greer physically winced as the foal sniffed her wounds, ready for pain. When it didnt come, she opened her eyes to see leif licking her face. She scrambled away with a frightened look in her eyes obviously unprepared for the foals endless energy.
"Er...its ok." She said, as leif backed off, still looking at her with hungry, playful eyes.

Ryder looked down at the colt with a look to tell him to go back to his mother. Leif gave Greer one last look before galloping on unsteady legs back to his mother at the top of the hill. He sighed a bit. "He's a bundle of energy that doesn't know when to stop. Hopefully, he grows out of it a bit," he said with a chuckle. Leif was always getting into trouble and bothering the guards. Good thing none of them had gotten too angry at the colt's persistence.

Greer nodded, feeling a bit queasy from the whole experience. The foal ambled over to his mother who chased him down the hill laughing. Greer felt physically sick. She couldnt do that for a kid. She wasnt a mother. She scrambled up to her hooves, forcing herself to get to the woods before throwing up whatever grass she'd managed to eat.

Ryder looked back to see Greer running for the woods. A sickly expression on her face. He slowly followed after her with a worried expression. "Are you alright?" He asked, hoping that he hadn't given her too many herbs. He knew that if some horses ate too much of the stuff they often got sick to the stomach. Ryder stopped a little distance behind her, making sure she didn't have anything left in her stomach before he approached her. "There's a stream nearby if you want to wash your mouth out," he said, tilting his head in the direction of the stream.

"Im---" Greer started before coughing into the dirt. She felt gross and slimy. "Fine..." She whispered. "Just...a little...nervous is all." She said, a weak smile on her face. She made her way to the stream he mentioned before burying her nose in it. Cleansing the disgusting taste on her lips. (OH OH HE COULD BE ALL: Are you sure it isnt...morning sickness? This happened to effie my mate when she was carrying. Wait are you in foal?" It would bring up the subject

Ryder nodded, thinking of how sickly Effie had been in the mornings before she had had Leif. His eyes turned toward the sky. The sun was just beginning to rise to its peak in the sky. His eyebrows furrowed as he thought. "What are you nervous about? I'm not going to make you stay with my herd if you don't want to," he said with a frown as he followed her to the stream. His tail flicked absentmindedly as he felt the water draw him closer. He shook his head of the feeling. His gift could definitely be a nuisance some times. "You're not... with foal.... are you? If I give you too many herbs, that could be dangerous for both of you," he said, tilting his torn ear in Greer's direction as he waited on her response.

Greer suddenly felt even more sick. But she had nothing left in her stomach. She looked at the ground, phyically trembling.
"I think i am...i mean..ive been telling myself im not and that it never happened but it did." She said, tears dripping off her face and onto the leaves, making a pitter patter noise.

Ryder felt a pang of guilt for asking as the mare broke down into tears. He stood beside her, trying to comfort her the best he could. "I'm sorry if something happened to you to make you... you know. I can't imagine how difficult this must be for you," he said, looking down at the water where her tears splashed into it. Life was hard already without having to handle pressures like this. Thank the unicorns, he had been born a stallion. He wasn't sure if he could handle all of the things mares had to go through.

"It isnt your fault." She said, scoffing at his sympathy. She wished she'd been born a stallion, unchallenged and strong, with nothing to fear or extra stress to face, like pregnancy and aggresive stallions.

Ryder gave her a sad grin. "I know. I can still be sorry though," he said in a soothing voice to the distraught mare. If she were pregnant, he definitely couldn't give her any more herbs. If she took any more, it might terminate the pregnancy, which wouldn't be healthy for either of them. It was dangerous to be a single mother, and he found himself wondering how Greer would do once she left the Exiles. She was strong, but was she strong enough to take care of a foal on her own?

The brown stallion walked slowly beside her as she walked back to the edge of the herd. He gave her a soft grin as she spoke. "Trust me. Helping you has probably been the best situation I've been in since my son was born. It's been a rough few weeks for everyone," he said with a tired expression. Sure he loved his herd, but they sure knew how to ruffle his feathers and cause drama where it wasn't needed. A glance at the scar on his chest made him frown further. And they knew how to rip your heart out after you had done practically nothing to deserve such rage and hatred.

Greer woke up the next day, her body already feeling much stronger. She rose from her place in the grass, stretching her now sturdy legs.
She trotted toward Ryder who was already awake and grazing. "Its amazing what a good sleep can do." She said with a smile. "Pop a few poppy seeds and im out deep." She said, thanking the unicorns for the seeds that were rather easy to find.

Ryder grazed a little distance away. The sun had just risen, casting bright pinks and oranges across the sky as the moon and stars were washed out by the sun. His ears perked forward as he heard Greer waking up. She trotted over, and the brown stallion gave her a nod of greeting. "Good to see that you're better," he said with a smile as he picked his head up from the grass. "Just make sure you don't eat too many. It could upset your stomach if you haven't eaten," he mentioned with a nod toward her stomach. "And too many might not be good for the foal if you are pregnant." It worried him a bit that she was taking so many herbs. He had never given so many to a mare who was possibly with foal, but he imagined it wouldn't do good for a developing horse.
