'Who in the hell...?' Greer | Ryder Time Line: This is before the current objective. ^-^
[ Ryder ]
A brown paint galloped through the pined woods of the eastern island. With the small group returning back to the Exiles from the island of Olde, Ryder was trying his hardest to prove his worth to his herd once more. His mouth was full of herbs that created a foul taste in his mouth, and he furrowed his brows as he made his way back to his mate and newborn son. All of the recent events had been quite a shock to him with how quickly they had happened, but there wasn't one thing he regretted. The sun was just beginning to come up, and the fog was clearing from his surroundings. His ears flicked forward as he heard a grunt to his right. The Exile scout came to a stop. His blue eyes scanned the forest for the source of the noise, and a small gasp escaped his mouth once he saw the culprit.
A wounded mare laid on the ground. Wounds from a recent attack marked her pelt and bled heavily. Ryder trotted over, and he came to a stop over the grey horse. A snarl ripped through the silent air, making the stallion whirl around to face a grassbeast. He reared onto his hind legs, whinnying in an attempt to scare the beast off. It appeared to already be hurt with a slight limb to its gait as it scurried off into the forest. Ryder returned his attention to the mare on the ground as he placed his herbs on the ground beside her. He gathered some cobwebs and gently placed them in her scrapes.

Greer
The little grulla mare snarled as the paint got to work on her gashes. She swung out her hoof in an attempt to knock him off her. She struggled to her hooves, baring her teeth at him. She rocked back and forth, as if the slightest howl of wind would send her sprawling on the ground. She lifted her head in some sort of attempt to look mighty. She failed, but stood firmly in place.
"Who in the hell are you and want do you want?" She asked with a small growl.

Ryder jumped back as the mare kicked out at him. His ragged scar on his chest that wasn't exactly fully healed threatened to rip open. As she snarled at him, Ryder took on a less threatening stance. He lowered his head slightly as he spoke. "My name is Ryder. I'm from the Exiles. You're injured, so I was trying to help you." He said with a nod toward her wounds. If they weren't treated, they'd surely get infected. It definitely wouldn't be a pleasant way to die.
The mare looked as though she were about to fall over, and he would find it interesting if she even tried to fight him in such a state. It would be hard for her to even hold her own weight let own try to fight him. "Now if you'd please, could you sit down? Your wounds are bleeding very heavily, and if you don't get them treated, you're a high risk for infection." The stallion stated with a nod toward where he'd like her to sit.

Greer squinted at him in disbeleif. In this world, she'd never met someone who wanted to help for nothing offered in return.
"What the Fairy do you want?!" She asked with a snap. Her voice quivered though. "You think im so Fairying stupid that ill just sit down, practically offering myself to be killed on a platter?" She said with tension in her voice and eyes. She had learned from being nieve. Horses took advantage of the weak, but she wasnt weak.

The stallion looked at her with a confused expression. He knew horses were paranoid about strangers, but he had never had anyone actually express themselves this way toward him. He snorted quietly. "Look, I just want to help. I know you're probably thinking that I'm some sort of killer, but I can assure you that I'm not." He said though he had been a hired killer at one point in his life, that horse was long gone. "Please." He pleaded with her. He wouldn't be able to live with himself if she ran off and got herself killed. Helping strangers was something that he did as a sort of atonement for the lives he had taken when he was younger. Granted that all of those horses had been killers and rapists, Ryder still felt a pang of guilt that he had ended another horse's life.
"I have a feeling you're a strong mare especially to live by yourself, but the wounds you have will most definitely end you if they get infected. Let me help, and I promise you want see me ever again." Ryder offered her the deal he had to make with most of the horses that didn't want his help. With this mare, however, he wasn't exactly sure if she'd respond as he hoped.

Greer stumbled sideways but struggled upright again.
"Listen here, just because im a mare doesn't mean i have to be strong to live on my own. When i was 15 and weak I lived on my own. I have lived through plenty of attacks and been absolutely fine." She said, gulping down the pain. Her forelock swung to the side exposing her cloudy, slver eye, and mostly scarred face.

The older stallion sighed as he lifted his head, exposing his own scar that ran down from his neck to his chest. "I understand, but this one looks particularly bad. Please just let me help, and then I'll be on my way." He said with a small nod. There was no way he was going to just let this horse die if he could have helped to save her. He saw her flinch and stagger only to gain her balance again. It wouldn't be long before she passed out from the blood loss. At least then he would be able to clean her wounds and stop the bleeding.

Greer opened her mouth with a retort, just before stumbling and falling over onto the dirt.
"Don't Fairying touch me or I swear I'll I will seriously do some da---" She spouted nonsence and threats for a few minutes before passing out in a pool of her own collecting blood.

Ryder sat down with a bored expression as the mare began spitting insults and warnings at him. Her strength was growing increasingly weak as blood pooled underneath her. He sighed in relief as she words slowly grew weaker and more garbled, and when he looked back over at her, the grullo mare had passed out finally. Ryder stood over her, dabbing her wounds with cobwebs in an attempt to stop the bleeding, but his torn ear flicked backward as snarls and growls sounded behind him. He whirled around to find the pack of grassbeasts that had attacked her in the first place back to finish what they had started. The Exile snorted in frustration. He didn't really want to move her now that he had finally gotten the blood to stop, but he didn't exactly have a choice now. Ryder reached up into a nearby tree, snatching a vine that he quickly wrapped around the horse.
After what felt like an eternity, Ryder finally made it back to the herd with the loner mare in tow. He stayed on the outskirts, making sure he didn't draw too much attention to himself. He only hoped that she would be too tired to do any harm to him or anyone else for bringing her here.

Greer woke up in a strange place. Her legs were chaffed and wrapped with something that looked like a worn out, green vine. She twisted her neck to look at her body, which was covered with cobweb bandages and a strange green slime. She widened her eyes as she spotted the brown paint grazing with the other exiles, and remember the previous afternoon.

Ryder grazed peacefully a short distance away from the slumbering mare. Effie hadn't been exactly thrilled that he had brought a potentially dangerous horse to the herd, but he had explained to her that she had needed his help. Effie had reluctantly accepted it, but she had insisted on keeping Leif away from her, and he didn't exactly disagree. There was no telling how the loner would react once she woke up. It had been at least a day since he had brought her to the Exiles, and she was still unconscious. Ryder had made sure that her wounds were clean and had changed her bandages a few times.
Ryder glanced over at her again, and to his surprise, her eyes were open and confusion was plastered on her face. He walked closer to her with a small smile. "Good to see you're finally awake. I was beginning to think that you'd sleep forever." He said, stopping a horse-length away from her.

Greers eyes widened and she scrambled away from him. Her eyes bulging out of her head, her legs scrambling on the grass, trying to stand up, only to be week and fail her. Blood loss had taken its toll, and she was tired within seconds. Her breath came in loud pants, as she heard a strange crickling on her side. Dried grass bandages practically covered her hide. But as she glanced but, she didnt see something she had expected to see. Her tail wasnt behind her, flowing with its long ebony hairs. In its place was a stubby draft horse like tail. This caused her panic to inrease.

Ryder stopped a few horse lengths away as the mare panicked. Her eyes grew wide as she tried to stand. He watched with slight concern as she tried to figure out what had happened or where she was. The brown stallion waited until she stopped moving to speak again. "I'm sorry. I had to bring you here. The grassbeasts came back, and I couldn't just leave you there. You had quite a few nasty wounds, but the bleeding has stopped, and they've got plenty of medicine on them," he explained, flicking his tail absentmindedly. His ears swiveled backwards as he heard a happy squeal from behind him. His head turned to see Leif playing nearby on the outskirts of the herd. Effie, his mate, was watching them closely, probably making sure this mare didn't try anything.
He sighed quietly before turning back to the grullo mare. "Are you thirsty? There's a stream nearby," he said, tilting his head in the direction the stream was. He could almost feel a sort of draw to the water as if it were apart of him that needed to be returned. Ryder shook his head. The pains of receiving his gift were great, but the gains were greater he supposed.

Greer snarled at the horse infront of her. Who did he think he was. When he came a bit closer she lashed out, grabbing a peice of his sholder skin in her teeth and spitting it out. Thats what he got for taking her here when he had no right, she'd rather die then be here with a herd. She had promised herself, never to be with a herd. Its what her parents would of wanted. After her mothers father nearly killed her dad, they had stopped trusting herd horses, and had practically implanted in her brain to never join one.

Ryder clenched his teeth as the mare took a chunk of skin off of his shoulder. He backed up a bit, keeping enough distance between them that he could dart away if need be. A tired sigh escaped him as his eyes softened. This mare must have been through hell and back to be this way. It was a miracle that she was alive from all of the scars that riddled her pelt. The one on her face was particularly nasty. "Look, I know you're probably a loner or a broodmare from the Bachelors. From all of the scars, I'm assuming a loner. I know for a fact that loners hate herd horses, but I'm not asking you to join us. Plus, I'm not exactly certain if we could handle taking care of another horse right now. I was a loner once myself, and I know how mad I would be if I were taken in by one. If you want to leave, go ahead. I've got others I need to take care of, but you're not strong enough to make it by yourself for very long," he said as he turned toward his family as if he would walk away from the mare right then and there. Life had been hard on the brown paint, and he'd learned quite a bit from it recently. His eyes appeared to hold a wisdom that only a much older horse would be expected to have. Ryder wasn't entirely sure if he would call himself a mentor, but he knew that quite a few horses in his herd viewed him as one for whatever reason. He could only hope that this mare could see that. See that he didn't mean her any harm.
