Plot:
Cethin has a free day. A good sunny one too. But once he gets to the meadow where he and Grange normally spend the night, man is he in for a surprise. The loner mare Greer has already seemed to have taken up residence in the meadow for the night. Cethin, being it his job, leaps into a chase for the wild mare. Asking no questions.
Featuring:
CAT0CORNY's Greer and POEDOGS's Cethin
----
Cethin walked through the forest. Only a short while until he got to his safe haven. Where he and Grange would be spending the night. The tree line was coming up and Cethin could see the light stream out onto the grass coming up. Ahh, being in the meadow was like dinging with the gods. He chuckled at the thought and then flicked an ear. The smile wiped off his face he heard the munching of grass. Another horse was here. Could it be a loner? Maybe Casper, who Grange had said knew about the meadow too.
He snuck closer to the edge of the forest and caught sight of the horse grazing. A loner mare, none that he had seen before. He snorted and began to trot towards her. Maybe scare her off. If she hesitated he'd have to make himself capture her... if she ran... well maybe a chase would be good training. His forelock flopped out of his face, clearly showing the scarred flesh of his "X". If she doesn't run now she's stupid, he thought.

Greer munched down hungrily on the grass. It had been about a day since her last meal. She had been running from place to place after her hidey hole was found by a pack of Lunar ravens. She had finally found a secluded area with good grazing, which she took advantage of happily.
She heard the familiar sound of hooves on spongy grass and looked up at a large black horse. Her eye widened as she looked into his orange eyes. She spun around and galloped toward the woods where she hoped she could lose him. Dirt flew out from beneath her hooves, landing in clumps behind her. She huffed as her small, but strong mustang legs carried her through the woods as she frantically dodged trees.

Cethin laid his ears flat against his head and thundered after the mare. He gnashed his teeth coming closer and leaped over a log. A slight stumble in his bad leg, but he righted himself up and continued on his way. He cut away from the mare, deciding to take a shortcut. Afterall I probably know these woods better. "Don't think you'll escape so easily." I yelled as I slid out in front of her, baring my teeth and flattening my ears.
The young stallion had dealt with loners before... He just hoped that if they fought his bad leg wouldn't give out on him and put him to the mercy of a mare. He gathered himself up and smiled, "So M'Lady? What might you be doing here?" He spoke like a snake. Not to be trusted.

With a gasp, she narrowly managed to avoid the stallion who cut into her path by sliding to a stop. She panted loudly as she looked him over. He was black with lighter black markings, and a dark, curly mane. There wasn't much else to him except for an ugly X mark. The bachelor mark. Her stubborn, mare-ish side took over her fear as she pinned her ears and stomped her hooves.
"Get the Fairy out of my way." She snapped with her thick Irish accent; whilst lunging at him with an open mouth. She managed to take a good chunk of mane off his neck along with a little bit of skin. She smirked at her success, as the stranger seemed awful surprised at her outburst. While he was distracted, she burst into a gallop and narrowly squeezed between him and a tree. She galloped as fast as her hooves could take her.

Cethin's eyes filled with fury as he mane was tugged. "Mere child's play, mare." He spoke it like an insult, whipping around to take on chase again. He could run like this for days. It was in his blood. He was well fed and healthy, she looked nothing of the sort. "Foolish mare, your running just makes you easy tot find. Use your wits and actually make this a challenge." Cethin smiled as he said the words. Now he steeled his hooves and began to observe the mare's habits. She was rude and one for violence it seemed. Didn't look like she always thought of the best schemes to escape, sometimes going to a part of the woods where Cethin could have easily cut her off and cornered her. He was young, but many a mares he had chased in his lifetime so far. This would be no different. As long as she didn't go for the ocean... that was his only weakness.

Greers hooves powered over the forest floor like a freight train. She tried her best to block out the stallion, but he was gaining on her quickly. She was strong ad muscular and fast but very thin. She glanced back and wasnt suprised to see him just a horse length behind her. She decided to use her wits instead of strength. She smirked as she thought up new tactics.
She checked to make sure the stallion was still right behind her, which he was, and she slid to a stop. Her hooves dug into the soft dirt as the stranger slammed into her backside. He had been so close and shed stopped so fast that shed simply knocked him over with force. She spun aroind, and gave him a swift kick in the gut, and another in the leg. As a final touch, she spit on him and trotted silently around tthe corner of a large boulder. When she hoped she was out of sight she picked up into a gallop.

Cethin picked him up off the ground. His knee, injured only a week or two before, bled slightly. She had left a clean cut though his already scarred knee. The only thing that angered him was the fact she had spit on him. The black stallion made his way up and shook off the pain in his knee. He looked around and lapped up some of the herbs he'd had to use when he first injured the knee and then some cobwebs to bind away the blood. "Well missy. If you want to play the hard way... I'll give you the hard way." He darted into the thick undergrowth. Still in his line of sight she was. He smiled and stayed far back, always close enough to see her through the branches.

Greer knew she wasnt yet safe, so she decided to look for somewhere wide open so she could see if anyone else found her. She picked her way through the woods, looking out for a clearing of some sort. As she searched, the trees became thinner and thinner. She picked up a salty smell, ocean water. A beach! The perfect spot, shed have a clear veiw of her surroindings there.
She followed the pungent scent of salt water until her hooves reached the soft sand. It when she reached the waters edge ahe cleaned the grass and dirt off her legs. Small waves lapped on her legs softly, seagulls called above her, she closed her eyes and let her strained muscles finally relax.

Cethin stepped out onto the beach despite his fears. He eyed the mare up before dropping his head low to pull up a tussock of sandy dune grass. He then tore of the cobwebs from his leg and made his way to the salt water. He kneeled near it and waited for the waves to come up and clear away the blood. The waves complied and Cethin's knee soon had no blood marring it, just a flap of torn flesh. He cringed as the salt got into the wound. Then he straightened up. "So, M'Lady, you seem to be quite the warrior?" He raised an eyebrow. "No point running. I'll chase you the whole island's length. Feel free to chat with me though" He smiled like a snake and turned back to his grass. Pulling up some more he eyed her up. She looked quite surprised that he'd caught up with her. "Damaging my knee like that was not entirely necessary, hmm? Just a nice chat I had there." He chuckled.

Greer watched from the waters edge as the stranger made his way to the water, about 5 yards away from where she stood. She glared at him, completely prepared to run. She despised the way he played with her, talking with a silver tongue, aand she especcially hated the way he seemed to talk down to her.
"What the Fairy do you want from me your savage beast?" She asked in an angry tone of voice. She was tired, shehadnt slept the past few nights, and had only had a few hours to eat in the clearing where he'd found her. She eyed the wound he was wraping with dune grass, and smirked. She was pleased with herself for inflicting pain on him.

Cethin twitched an ear, "Well you of all as a mare should know what I want form you. To come back with me. But alas, we both know we'll be fighting. Something neither of us can afford. If you're injured you're captured. If I'm injured further I can't fight in the war." He smiled a bit and walked into the surf, washing the newly appeared blood from his knee again. Used to the salt now. "You're name wanderer? I suppose you are a loner? Maybe an Exile?" He said looking at her scars. She was tall, not as tall as him. She looked about his age, maybe younger. He waded into the waves and cleaned off his coat. He shook out his coat and then came out of the horrible waters.
At least he knew of their dangers.

Greer was taken aback by him saying she would possibly have to go back with him. She would not be going, injury or no injury.
"Like hell i am." She scoffed, glaring at the black horse. "And i believe you are the one missing a chunk of mane and a the skin on your knee." She chuckled, noting that she was overall uninjured, only slightly sweaty. She didn't get tired very easily, she was bred for stamina and speed. She was part mustang, making her quick on her hooves yet sturdy and tough. But her Arabian and thoroughbred influences graced her with agility and speed.
"And i will not tell you my name, but i am a Loner messenger and that is what i will remain to be," She said firmly, taking pride in her status as messenger. She had been a loner ever since her parents had died in the storm that scared the most part of half her face. She had made a pact she would never be with anyone without her fathers blessing and she promised to keep the promise, so herds were out of the question. If this horse did manage to take her to his herd, she would run away as soon as she got the chance.

Cethin spoke out on her cockiness, "You, youngling could have easily been captured and being guarded right now. You were foolish enough to turn to face your chaser, to graze so close to the summer fields. Child, you could have been abused and scarred by now." He laughed and flattened his ears, "You're just lucky it was me who found you, otherwise... as I said you'd be in worse shape than me right now."
He turned tail and started to stalk down the beach, "I have no time for petty mares like you when I should be getting ready for war." He turned, a smile still on his face, "A war in which you'll be caught between if you don't escape now." He laughed again and turned away from her. "I do not wish to capture you now. I am however quite interested in your views on the herd. Seeing as you're a mare not yet tainted by it's barbaric nature. Come chat?"

Greer laughed out loud from the stallions remarks.
"You are pathetic. You think you work you silver tongue, call me names, slyly threaten me, but it doesn't do a thing. Even if it hadn't been you who found me, i wouldn't have been taken unless i was dead. I have no need for a herd nor do i want one." She smiled at him, ears pinned. "And if you have no time for 'pretty mares' like me, then why did you just chase me through the woods, risking your own injury?" She asked with a wicked smirk on her grulla face. She pondered about if it was a good idea to spend another second of her life with this horse, and decided the hell with it.
"Why not? And if you dont mind, i have a few questions of my own about your 'barbaric' herd." She chided.

Cethin spoke not a word, mulling over hers. "You're questions first, Miss?" He said slowly, waiting for the words to come. Seeing other's points of view, well that was something he liked. "I work no silver tongue. I speak in the same manner all of us do. I bear no sly threats, rather open ones if you'd ask me. If it wasn't me who found you and you did in fact fight, you would be dead.
I chased you only because it's my job to do so. When lo and behold you spat upon me. That's the only time I actually cared of the chase. And if you're questioning the horror of a herd I live in, well you shouldn't. It's just as barabaric as the other herds say. You only met me, a casual rebel of my own leader." He shook his mane. "Of course, that's what I'll be when I get the chance. Along with my mate." He looked over his shoulder to see the grullo mare, "Your questions?"
