" Wounds " T h e -- P l o t
Everyone that has met Illucid knows that he has no fear or care for his own personal being. He lives for that adrenaline rush, and as he grows older, he finds himself looking for more dangerous ways to get his fill. Unfortunately for him, he's gotten himself badly beaten up this time - he's bleeding from multiple wounds. Your character happens upon him. Will they help him? Or maybe they'll laugh at his stupidity? I n -- T h i s -- T h r e a do1.| Illucid -- clockworko2.| Greer -- catac0rny--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•-- Illucid | Loner | Messenger It was safe to say that Illucid was book smart, but when it came to the streets, he was about as dumb as he could get. Then again, that wouldn't be quite fair to say, as he had plenty of experience. It was more that he didn't care enough to be safe. Actually, the young stallion would do just about anything to put himself into a dangerous situation. It made him happy - gave him the adrenaline rush he was constantly searching for. One of his favorite places to be was the Riddle Mountains. Of course, there was always the tricky fact that they were located on the East Island, but Illucid had rarely run into a Bachelor up there. They seemed to avoid the steep cliffs as much as any normal horse with some common sense would. He didn't like those horses much, even though he had been born into their ranks. He was always forced to wear their mark on his forehead for the rest of his life, but he refused to let them find him and take him in. The buckskin never wanted to be like them.
For today's rush, Illucid had decided to visit his favorite place. Normally, he'd find the cliffs closest to the ocean and leap off them, but today he wanted to try something new. He'd heard that some of the mountains were pretty steep, and he wanted to see how far up he could get. After that, he'd have his fun finding ways back down. The stallion gave his head a shake and then started up into the mountains, picking his path carelessly. He slid every now and then on the loose rocks, grumbling under his breath as he went along. An hour or two had passed. He wasn't sure how long it had been - he never bothered to keep track. Luckily, the appaloosa had found a fairly steep mountainside and had begun to climb it. The route was tricky, but he was determined to get to slide back down this thing. Another hour passed, and the sun was shining high in the sky, inviting Illucid to come join it up at the tops of the mountains. Eventually, the stallion had successfully come to the top and now stood out on a little ledge, hardly big enough for the stallion to stand on it. His hooves hung half over the ledge, and as he leaned forward to look down, he almost fell head first.
Illucid took another minute to stand and admire the view. He could see a lot from up here. There were a few horses off in the distance, smaller than ants and barely visible as is. He assumed that he was safe from being seen by any others, so he inhaled deeply and took a jump. The breath was knocked straight out of his lungs as his hooves landed on the hard mountain side. They twisted at an odd angle, and suddenly Illucid found himself smashing his side against the mountain. The hill was too steep to stop, however, and he was left flailing and skidding down, every sharp rock scraping at his hide. At one point, he crashed against a boulder-like rock that jut out, but he was unable to catch himself on it and continued his ride down. It had left a wonderful gash on his shoulder, but next to the other bruises and scrapes he'd have after this, it seemed like a small injury. His fall had lasted all but a few minutes, though to him it had felt like a lifetime. He came to a rolling stop on another ledge-type rock and groaned loudly as he attempted to sit up. His body shook with the effort - he was in a lot of pain. Nothing he had ever experienced before. The shifting of the weight, however, caused the ledge to begin to crumble. Illucid found himself falling once more, though this time a smaller distance into a cluster of sharp and awkward rocks. His body hit hard, and he gasped at the impact, his breath completely robbed.
While the pain was fierce, ripping through his body like a thousand pins and needles, Illucid couldn't help but smile. He had no idea yet of the extensive injuries he had just received, and he's probably be damn lucky to have not broken any bones, but worst case scenario was always what he was after. Slowly, his lungs filled back up with air, and he took a well needed, gasping breath. A sharp pain hit his sides, but he ignored it and attempted to get off the sharp rocks that had protruded his skin. The effort was wasted, however, as he had no strength left. The fall had taken everything out of him, and for once in his life, the buckskin was helpless. He took a moment then to look himself over, deciding that he'd at least check the damage. His left shoulder had gotten torn open in a nasty gash and was now filled with the dirt, rocks, and blood that he had gathered on the way down. The rest of his body was scratched up, but his main concern was this, and the other deep cuts he knew he had on his right side from landing on these rocks. He couldn't stay here, though. No one would find him. With every last ounce of energy he could muster, Illucid pulled himself up and then heaved himself to his feet. His entire body shook with the effort, and he staggered a few steps forward out of the base of the mountains before completely collapsing once more.
The young stallion let himself relax on his side, eyes slowly closing as he let the pain washed over him. Was this worth it? Was nearly killing himself worth the pain it took to forget about the pain he felt when Slick had died? Illucid heaved a sigh and left it at that.

Greee tottered down the steep mountain path, putting her hoofs in secure foot holds, taking it slow. She knew it was insane to take this path down but shed ran into a bear on the other, safer path. Thankfully, there was a naturally worn into the soft dirt. It apeared pat patchy, but it was deep and wide, as if something big had slid down it. She grew more wary as she spotted bloodied rocks and branches here and there.
Alright greer lets pick up the pace. She thought to herself as she reached more even ground and picked up and into a cautious trot. As the woods thinned and the ground turned to grass, more, fresher blood formed puddles on the ground. She sniffed it carefully, very new. She followed the bloodied path, she spotted a brown and white hide. It was dotted with blood, and sweat. The horse looked week, and pitiful, obviously no threat. She cantered after him, and pulled up alongside the horse, who she eyed warily. His coat was dotted with deep bloody gashes.
"Excuse me, are you alright? Your bleeding bad." She said in a gentle voice. Obviously this horse was young, and needed help.

--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•-- At the sound of a voice, the young stallion's ear twitched. Even that was a cause for a pain, but he merely winced very softlt, refusing to show how much he was struggling. His eyes opened, and for awhile he had trouble focusing them. It was then that he noticed the mare. She seemed to be concerned over him, and Illucid could only manage a wheeze sounding chuckle. His ribs pinched from that, but he found no reason to care. He had found her concern amusing. Illucid would never understand how anyone could feel so much worry over someone they didn't know. Now, he wasn't heartless (though many would probably beg to differ), but he wasn't sure he could feel the same way about a stranger. Then again, he had no idea how he looked.
" I'm fine, " he assured her. " I just need.. Some time. " That's how it normally would have went, but this time his injuries were too extensive to just leave like that. To try and prove his point, the appaloosa heaved himself into a more upright laying position. It was quite pitiful. His breath had been robbed from that simple shifting. Still, he refused to admit that he was hurt and needed help. " A little blood never hurt anyone, " he insisted.

Greer shook her head and observed the colts pathetic attepts to collect himself. He was week, and alone.
"Thats more then a little blood, and your.leaving atrail. Your coming with me before a bear or lion finds you. Now come along lass." She said exagerating her irish accent. She gently nipped his mane and pulled it in her direction towards the woods on the left. She had found a cave not too r from here where she'd been resting her hooves lften after transporting messages.
"Ive got a stash of old rubbing alchohol and bandages. I only use them on myself...but i guess your an exception." She grumbled, masking her concern with pity as she gently tugged him n the direction of the cave.

Ears pinning, Illucid looked away from the mare, starting to get annoyed with her. Why couldn't she just leave him alone? He'd gotten himself hurt so many times before this, so this was no different. And for some reason she kept insisting that he was bleeding out. Honestly now. Illucid rolled his eyes and gave a short when she suddenly tugged on his mane. Who was this mare anyway? He pushed himself into a sitting position, front legs shaking like jelly from the effort.
" I told you that I am just fine, " he grumbled stubbornly. To be honest, he would have enjoyed the help, but he was too tired to move anywhere. Plus he had no fear of death, so bleeding out, getting an infection or being attacked by an animal didn't phase him. Illucid was perfectly happy here, the pain a sweet relief to the aches in his heart.

Greer pinned her ears and stomped her hoof. Clearly he wasnt ok but he was too hard headed to admit or want help.
"Stay right here and if you move a muscle i will come and find you." She darted off through the woods. Her hooves cut grooves in the dirt as she galloped into the woods. She dodged the trees easily, ducking her head and jumping logs. When she reached the cave, she grabbed her supplies and was off as fast as she'd arrived. She had no problem returning to the stallion and instantly got to work. She gently layed him down so she could access his woulds more easily.
"Just...lay down ill try to make this as pain free as possible." She said in a gentle voice as she rubbed the old, probably expired rubbing alcohol on it. She knew it would sting just like it had on herself. She applied pressure to the would and wrapped them in bits of cloth and left the small ones open as not to waste any supplies.

Damn it, why were mares so stubborn? Illucid grit his teeth, trying to let the anger subside. She had merely been worried for him, and he sort of appreciated that. He didn't have anyone to look after him. Maybe he had gone about this all wrong. The buckskin half sighed - half groaned before plopping back down into his side. His eyes closed once more, and his ears twitched like he was paranoid. Perhaps he was. As he listened for her to return, he wondered what this rubbing alcohol was that she had mentioned. He'd never heard of it before and hoped that it would be safe. He didn't remember if she'd said if she'd tried it or not, but the mare seemed to be pretty confident. Then again, she could be a Bachelor mare looking to do some stallion's bidding. The loners never seemed to be safe around here.
Unfortunately, Illucid never even had a chance to ask her about it, as he suddenly felt a searing pain where one of his bigger gashes were. His big blue eyes snapped open in alarm, the whites flashing. And he thought falling had caused him the most pain.
" If this is what you call as painless as possible, then I don't even want to know what else you can do with that crap, " Illucid answered hoarsely. The wounds still stung every now and then depending on how he flexed, but she seemed to be content with wrapping him all up. In the end, it admittedly felt a little better, and he was suddenly glad for her passing through. Another thought struck his mind:
" Why are you helping me? "

Greer sat him up gently, and got to work on his other side. She hated getting involved with others although she had a knack for being nosey, not on purpose. She slowly began to rub some more of the sparse alcohol she had a quickly bandaged it up. She knew how much it hurt, so she tried to do it as quickly as she could. She wondered if he was a bachelor, or maybe an exile. Definitely not an olde though, unicorn worshiping freaks....
She listened the buckskin comment on her handy work, and chuckled. She continued to wrap his woulds and clean them out. She had merely a handful of the alcohol left. The last of her supply. Greer made a mental note to restock her cave with more supplies she found on her trips around the island.
"Well, i couldn't just...Ive seen things ok and i didn't wanna end up seeing your bones next time im around these parts ok?" She snapped at him. It was amazing how fast her mood could change from curious to outright rude.

Having the moment to rest already took a load off the stallion's shoulders. His sore muscles ached, crying out at his stupidity. He couldn't care less. As the mare pushed him up, Illucid felt it was easier to hold himself there. Of course, there was the continued washing with that alcohol which burned like the fires in hell, but he was able to keep himself from falling back over right away. To him, that counted as a win. He felt that he'd be feeling this one for the rest of his life, and as he attempted to shift his position, he winced at the sudden pain in his leg. Perhaps he had pulled something on the way down - it would t have surprised him.
From first wanting to help him, something had apparently set her off. The mare was suddenly yelling at him. Illucid's ears flicked back for a moment as he thought about what she had said. True, he'd be the one who's bones she'd most likely see, for he was completely careless and would look death in the face. That didn't mean he'd want it to be now or anytime soon. There were still quite a few things to be done before the buckskin could be content with his life. Illucid lowered his head some and breathed a soft sigh.
" I'm sorry.. It was dumb of me to ask that about the one horse that was actually willing to help me, " replied Illucid evenly. He was in a fairly bad position to be judging others and demanding their reasonings for caring about him. He should have been grateful for her coming across him and then making the decision to take care of him. At this point, the appaloosa probably should have offered his name, but for some reason he couldn't bring himself to do it.

Greer sighed, and instantly felt horrible for snapping. She always hated her personality, she was a walking contradiction. She always wanted to help but hated when others asked of her. She was kind yet rude and mean.
"Its alright. How old are you? Whats your name? Do you have anywhere you need to go?" She demanded. Her original plan was to help him and then bring him to his home, but she enjoyed his company althought she barely knew the young stallion. "Mines Greer," She offered. "Im a loner messenger. If youve got a message, you owe me." She chided, helping him to his hooves.

Illucid blinked a few times, trying to process her sudden flurry of questions. He tilted his head a little, eyes gazing past her almost as though he had seen something in the distance. This mare, Greer, had been nice enough to help him, so the buckskin felt that she deserved an honest answer. " My name is Illucid, " he replied, attempting to find his feet as she gave him a hoof up. Getting up was proving to be more of a struggle than he had hoped, even with her help. He was still weak and trying to gain back some of that energy and strength that had gotten knocked out. " I'm a loner as well. Unfortunately, I won't be needing you to deliver my messages as I am also a messenger. "
Now back on all fours, the appaloosa wobbled for a moment before finding his balance again. The bandages felt strange and foreign on his coat, but he tried to ignore them. The sting from the rubbing alcohol had also gone down, which he was grateful for. Overall, Greer seemed to have helped a lot, and that was something Illucid was never going to forget. He shook his head, staggered, hesitated, and then straightened himself back out. " What were you doing out this way? " he asked curiously.

Greer looked up at the younger horse, a tad furstrated with her height. She had never been the tallest, but her sass made up for it. She looked over him, admiring her handwork as she listed to him answer her questions.
"I was delivering messages in Olde and Ive been camping up there for the past few weeks. I was on my way back home when I saw your drops of blood. Now, i dont recomend we stay here because i had an unpleasent encounter with a large bear," She noted, present what was sure to be a scar just above her hip was some deep claw marks. "a few miles up and I dont know if he is tracking your horrific scent. If he catches up before i get your somewhere safe im not promising ill help you again, if your even survive an attack. " She snickered as she pushed the colt onward.

The thought of a bear nearby made Illucid's weak frame shudder. Not from fear, but from excitement. On any other day, he would have whipped around and gone off in search of the creature, but now he wouldn't stand the chance against one. This mare was right about having to get somewhere safe. Luckily, some minor energy had been restored, and he managed a few small steps forward. This would be a struggle, he knew, but Illucid refused to give him.
"Just tell me where we need to go," he said and smiled slightly. The urge to turn around and hobble back was insane, but he fought against it, forcing himself to limp on. Illucid was quite sure Greer would not be happy to see him trying to chase a bear. He may have had her in height, but from what he had seen previously, she would lay down the law without a moments hesitation. In a way, it felt good to know that he'd be looked at by her, but to be completely honest, she'd probably dump him and leave. He couldn't find any reason for her not to.

It took about 2 hours of limping, and swearimg to finally arrive at a small clearing deep within the woods. The grass was turning brown but this meadow was still a dull green. A cold, freshwater stream rushed by, and tall pine trees surrounded them. She had been here many times before. Shed found it in a desperate struggle of her own when she was just 14. She couldnt remember why she was running, except for a large stallion cornering her. That was that. She tried to avoid bringing others to her cavd ao she kept extra supplies here incase.
She led illucid to a large tree and helped him to the ground so he was leaning most of his weight on the old pine.quickly, she scurried to a boulder on the other side of the small den, pushing it with her weight. Underneath was a small hole with a dark blue sack. She pulled it out and emtied its contents. An old moth eaten blanket, some more bandages, a metal tun, a rag, and a few drops of alcohol.
She trotted quickly to illucids side and replaced his blood soaked badagez, but saved the alcohol fir another time. She laid the blanket over his sweaty hide, and filled the old sugar tin with stream water. When she finished tending to the stallion, she plopped her tired, thin body onto the cruncy grass, and layed falt out on her side with a heavy sigh.

After all of the hobbling along, the air thoroughly sprayed with curses, Illucid was more than relieved to have arrived in the clearing. His gaze flicked back and forth, big blue orbs shining curiously. This was a curious place. It had it's own kind of beauty, though it looked as though not much sun reached it. The stream ran strongly, though, which made his ears perk. Going through all of that trauma had made him forget about keeping his body hydrated. Suddenly he was parched. The grass looked semi-brown, though this didn't bother the buckskin at all. He was just glad that she trusted him enough to bring him here. It looked as though he could finally get a good rest. His body ached and throbbed, so laying down and allowing his weight to be supported by the pine already took a load of his shoulders. Still, he winced, unable to hide the pain he was in. Head raising, Illucid watched as the mare trotted over and began pushing things aside, pulling all sorts of things from seemingly nowhere. She seemed to have collected quite a bit of things, and he realized how clever she was to keep these kinds of things. She had been prepared, after all. This led him to wonder where she had gotten all of these things. He'd have to ask before he left.
Greer had placed the blanket over him, and Illucid dipped his head in silent thanks, unable to find the strength to part his lips. Still, he shuddered, despite the warmth it brought. Nonetheless, he was grateful, watching as she eventually flopped down as well. He hadn't had time to realize how exhausted she may have been. She had nearly carried him here and then exhausted herself looking after him. Illucid wasn't very good at making friends, let alone knowing how to look after others, but he was happy to have run into her. If not for the mare, he would have been laying there still, probably attacked by the bear she had seen or bleeding out. As much as he hated to admit it, the young stallion owed her his life. Shifting to tucked his legs further underneath himself, Illucid looked over at Greer. " Thank you for caring about me. Most horses wouldn't have done what you did, " he said.
