The light rain sprinkled on the young stallion's graying coat, making it appear darker than it truly was anymore and adding to the dappled look. His hooves picked their way carefully over the old roadways of the fallen city as they entered it's outer streets. He held his head high as his alert ears scanned the area. He didn't care for the way the hooves of the small group echoed around him off the old crumbling walls, but at least sounds were magnified here, so it would be very hard for anyone to sneak up on them... or sneak away. Almost constantly his ear would twitch back toward the mares that followed his lead, keeping a close watch that none tried anything. He hadn't been sent to battle, and while a part of him was bitter because of this, the other part of him was grateful. Not only did he get a break from the stress of being in the middle of the war, he also felt it an honor that he was being trusted with the four mares. Battle or no, he had been given a job. Even though his trust for the new leader was still not complete, he respected him and would be sure to do the job given to him, and do it well. "I will keep them safe." had been his words, and if there was one thing to be known about the young stallion, he was one of his word.
He slowed some when one of his hooves skid on the damp pavement. Tilting his head so that he could speak to the mares that followed he said the first words he had uttered to them since they began their journey to the city. "Be careful and watchful. Avoid accidents at all costs." His voice was rough, rugged like an old rusting bike that hadn't been oiled in forever. His words were few and to the point, something that those around him grew very accustomed to. He was not one to waist his voice. Cloudy blue eyes scanned over the shadows of the four mares who followed him. He'd seen them all in the herd, though some were better known than others. The one who's name he actually knew was one who probably hated him, Evalynn. He was unsure of Cain's idea to leave him in charge of her when he had taken part in her capture, though he considered this a sign the stallion trusted him... or he hoped that was the case. Another he was quite sure was new in the herd, he hadn't seen her very often. She seemed quiet at least, though he wouldn't let himself jump to conclusions. They often held more fight when they were new to the herd. The other two he'd seen very little of. This probably meant they were not much trouble. The light colored one appeared very quiet. He hoped that meant she wouldn't be trouble. As for the last, he was yet to determine the outcome of having her with him. But of course, no matter what he expected of any of them, he would never allow himself to let his guard down - not from the mares nor from the surroundings. "We all must be each other's eyes and ears. If we do so, nothing will catch us by surprise." He concluded after a long pause, deciding his first instructions could use some aid to encourage them to actually follow them. He knew from experience that the mares of this herd often stuck together and watched out for each other. He could use this as aid to get them motivated to cooperate. It would hopefully mean less trouble. His goal was to get by this without a single hitch. The odds of that happening, he was very aware, were slim, but aiming for the best often minimized failure.

{ Akira }
"How...could this happen..." One by one, one black hoof in front of the others, the normally feisty, young buckskin mare plodded forward with feet heavy as rocks. She no longer cared how her hooves ground against the broken pieces of road the group trod over nor how she was purposely sandwiched between the lead bachelor brute and the other mares behind her to keep her from trying anything. What was the point anyway? Akira's once proud head hung down low in front of her, nose pointed towards the ground in defeat. Her jet black locks rippled over her gracefully sloping shoulders as she shuffled forward, her long silky tail covered in soot from gracing the road with its constant touch. She...she had failed. The fire in her stubborn, fierce heart had been extinguished, being....being torn away from her adopted sister yet again... Of course she had done it to protect her. Everything she did was to protect the little family she had left...but in doing so, it meant being deprived of the only thing she ever had, her freedom. "My mother...sacrificed herself...to make sure this never happened...she gave her life to protect me from her fate. How could I have let her down...like this...I'm ruined, I...I failed her..." These words, these phrases continued to relentlessly torture the young mare's mind, thus at last, a hot tear finally escaped and rolled down her cheek. Thankfully it was misty...she couldn't bear to be seen like this. Not by a stallion, not by anyone... Though what did it matter really? She must have always been destined to walk her mother's footsteps, forever bound to the horror herd that she had spent her whole life running from. Maybe this was her fate of which there was no escape. For a moment, her mind swayed to think of Jaxon...one of her captors...but also someone much closer than many knew... No. Not now. She couldn't think of him until a long enough period of time had passed. He'd risked his life to see her so many times in secret...then was forced to bring her in along with the wretched Brutus even though she could see in his eyes how much it had hurt him inside. But if he hadn't, he would have been questioned for loyalty...maybe even beaten and tortured if suspected and worse if found guilty...no, she couldn't speak with him yet. She had to wait until it was safe.
One ear flicked in front of her, catching the low tone of their group leader, the stallion she thought she remembered being addressed as Kyanos. A slight flame striking her eyes to hide the fear and shame hidden behind them, Akira narrowed her gaze toward him and flattened her ears against her skull in contempt. "Yeah, accidents..." she muttered to herself under her breath, silently burning a hole in his rump with her fiery gaze. Though she did admit his words held truth. The deeper they got into the abandoned wreckage of what was once a great city, the more uneasy she became. She despised enclosed spaces...buildings...things that could trap her with no way out. She never dared venture this close to the ruins, yet here she was now, being led straight to its heart. From the rumors, it could be quite a maze, and not to mention certain...creatures tended to lurk about. And if trapped amongst the stone walls, there was little room for escape. At the bachelor leader's second command, she sighed softly. Her normal retort would have included only looking out for herself, but her heart did soften as she swiveled her head to catch a glimpse of the three other mares behind her. A some of them looked almost just as uneasy as she did... What if one of them had been Lynnie? Most of these mares didn't have a choice. Some were probably born, others captured. She knew very few bachelor mares were happy with their positions in the herd. They needed someone to look out for them...even if it wasn't Akira's specialty nor responsibility.

Evalynn
The light rain fall was beginning to irritate the mare as she trudged through the old, crumbling remains of the city. Ears laying flat against the sides of her neck, and a scowl fixed firmly in place, Evalynn picked her way through the street silently, avoiding clipping her hooves on random stones or vines. As she stared ahead, looking at the street they were making their way down, she glared at the stallion leading them. Kyanos. She would've rather been lead by almost anyone other than that stallion.
Flashbacks to the battle flitted through her mind, as she clashed against the gray stallion before striking him down. Then to when the very same stallion, along with a silver dappled brute forced her from her herd mates, battered and bruised, taking her captive. Her anger and hatred for the two stallions had not lessened over time, however, she had learned that physically attacking the stallions would not benefit her in any way. So, she had focused her energy on finding a way to escape, and trying to avoid the more... unsavory stallions of the herd. Normally she stuck beside Cael and Obscura, two fellow captives, one of them being from Olde as well. Today however, the trio had been split up.
As they walked, Kyanos spoke up, his rough voice flowing back to where Evalynn was walking. She rolled her eyes at his words. Of course they would avoid accidents. Who in their right mind would mess things up in the city on purpose? She knew from her past experiences in the city back on Olde, that far more treacherous beasts hid in the city than she cared to go up against. Especially when there were three mares, whom she doubted had any experience in fighting. Kyanos may be there to protect to mares, but if it came down to a fight, Evalynn would not shy away like a helpless foal.
Glancing at the other mares, she noticed one in particular, a buckskin, trudged along brokenly, head hanging low. Picking her pace up slightly, she caught up with the mare, and matched her pace to the smaller mare. Glancing sideways at the mare, she coughed lightly and gave the mare a small, friendly smile. "So, I'm afraid I never caught your name. I'm Evalynn."
Not a few seconds after she spoke, she heard Kyanos speak up again, and she flashed him a contemptuous look, but knew his words were correct. In the city, being in a group could only help.

Although not pleased but the drizzle of rain, it did not sour Iscah's mood. There had been orders given by the Bachelor leader Cain for the mares and younglings to go and hide away in the city. While quite a few were already there and safely tucked away, small groups of broods lead by guards were still making their way there. The city was a familiar place for her. She visited it frequently on the little 'adventures' she took, all illegal of course, since broods were not allowed out alone of the herd's confinements. Sometimes she went alone, sometimes she visited with her mother, and sometimes she visited with her friends.
Iscah hummed contently to herself, walking with a pep in her step. The other broods seemed too quiet for her liking. She did not know them all well, but she at least knew their names; Akira, Mercedes, and Evalynn. Akira and Evalynn were both captives, Evalynn having been from the Olde and Akira a Loner. All she knew about Mercedes was that the brood had a son and had been in the herd for quite a number of years.
Kyanos voice greeted her ears and she looked ahead at him. She gave him a nod. "Aye, aye, Captain," she chuckled lightly with a wink. Her cotton-candy eyes looked to the approaching ruins. "Do you know where the others are hiding in the city?" she questioned Kyanos.

The rain was cool, almost refreshing on the little slave's back. It soothed some of her anxieties, but not all. Mercedes trailed towards the back of the group, her pace much slower than the others. The other four ahead of her had long legs to keep them at a faster gait than her, but that wasn't entirely a problem. The smaller mare preferred the back, despite her lingering fears of being followed. Merce would rather stay unnoticed in the back than be near the pintaloosa captive. It had been weeks since her best friend's death, yet it was still fresh in her mind. Mercedes sent a fearful glance at the mare, feeling incredibly powerless underneath her size. The pony twisted her head back, gazing wistfully at the horizon, knowing her son was somewhere safe with the other broods. She winced, missing his familiar presence against her side. Kyanos's voice startled her, making her jump slightly. Careful and watchful, right. Mercedes could do that. A sudden rebellious thought slipped into her mind as she plodded along behind the other mares. She glanced back again, pinning her ears back in discomfort. What if she could run away? No, they'd catch her, plus her son was back with the others. No no, he'd be okay. Mercedes shook her head in disbelief. What was she thinking? Here she was in an abandoned city crawling with who knows what and she was planning to run? No, she was going to be a happy, obedient little slave.
Taking a deep breath, she picked up her pace, avoiding loose stones as she trotted to catch up. If she had had any courage built up to talk to the mares in front of her, it had vanished. She sighed under her breath, hanging her head and listening to the others chatting. While they were busy, she could just listen and watch. Mercedes flicked her ears in interest as she noticed the buckskin captive looking downcast, her heart aching to help her. Before she could do anything, Evalynn stepped in the way and fear once again took over any thoughts she had. Merce shook her head, chiding herself for being so foolish. She could easily forgive the Olde captive, but... Perhaps another time.

A dark ear flicked backwards toward the group of mares after he had spoken. Their quiet mutterings were all too easy for him to pick up. A quiet voice meant only for the speaker he was sure caught his attention. “Yeah, accidents…” He rolled his hazy eyes as he let out the quietest of sighs. This was going to be a challenge, of that he was sure. A part of him yearned to lecture her about the dangers of wandering here in the city, to frighten her with stories of rats as bigger than her hard head… but for now he kept his mouth shut. He would rather not put himself in a situation where he was hated by the mares any more than he was sure he already was, just from being a Bachelor stallion. Not that he could blame him. He would probably hate himself too if he were in their situation… heck, he did hate himself in all manners of the word.
Soon it seemed that the mare he had helped capture… Evalynn was her name if his memory served, decided to try and lighten the mood of the pouting mare. He didn’t mind this one bit. Perhaps it would distract the both of them. He’d just have to keep a close listen to their conversations to make sure they didn’t discuss anything they shouldn’t.
He winced some at the sudden bubbly reply from another. He racked his brain for a name, but sadly he didn’t remember names well. He’d heard them each muttered when Cain told him his assignments, but after that it seemed most of them had slipped out of his memory. “Where the others hide is not of importance to us. What we need to worry about is where we shall hide.” He of course was already in search of a good hiding place, though it was harder for him to locate one that “looked” good, as that sense wasn’t his best. Still, he was on constant alert for somewhere that seemed to have much protection but still enough room for the group of them not to be crowded. Then of course they had to make sure there weren’t many rats in the area.
His dark ear twitched backwards as he listened to the hoof-steps of those following. His eyes stared into emptiness for a moment as he turned all his concentration to his ears. One of the mares wasn’t keeping up as well with the others, as he soon observed from the slower, slightly more distanced hoof-falls. As badly as he wanted to get to somewhere safe and find shelter, the last thing he needed was to leave one behind. “Keep up everyone. A horse found straddling will be an easy target for the rats.” He ordered, adding in some encouragement that would hopefully help motivate them to do as he asked. Even as he asked them all to keep up though, he subtly slowed his own pace so that the smaller mare would better be able to keep up.

{ Akira }
At the sudden cough and friendly question, Akira shied to the side immediately, snapping out of her deep thoughts to the present situation. She'd been focusing on the dainty mare at the back of the herd, so she hadn't been paying attention to the larger paint mare approaching until she was nearly shoulder to shoulder with her. Not to mention Akira may have been tall but her delicate frame was much more suited for running than brute force. It was only a natural reflex, one so deeply imprinted in her brain it would probably always be her reaction when startled. Once she'd regained her composure, her eyes flitting to the group leader to make sure she hadn't stepped too far out of line, she turned to her new acquaintance warily, looking her up and down a few times before uttering a response.
"Come on Akira, play nice...she's only trying to help..." she mentally reminded herself with a soft sigh. "...Akira, not that it matters much anymore..," she murmured softly, her ears flicking back and forth nervously, "Er...nice to meet you, Evalynn." After a few awkward moments of silence, the raven-haired mare decided she might as well make the best of the situation and get some information while she had the chance. She would have plenty of time to sulk in a corner under her cloud of disappointment later. "Forgive me...but I don't think I've ever seen you on the island. Not to mention...you don't seem to...fit in with the other mares," she mused aloud, her chocolate brown eyes finding their way back to her walking companion, "I only say it because I've lived on this island long enough to tell when something's out of place." Tossing her head, the bright blue jay feathers bounced with the rest of her mane to the other side of her graceful neck. It was only misty at this point, but it made the air increasingly damp, already having drenched the poor buckskin hours earlier. She shivered slightly in the cold air, hoping that their destination would hold a bit more shelter than the open road.
Glancing upward toward their group leader, she noticed his pace slow ever so slightly. Swiveling her head behind her, she soon understood the reason as the smallest mare of the group, the one she'd noticed earlier, was lagging behind. Such a shy, skittish little thing she was. Akira couldn't deny her heart throbbed a bit at the sight. At least she wasn't alone in her suffering...though the fourth and final mare of the group seemed quite happy right where she was, firing question after question at their leader with a skip to her step that made Akira cringe. Their bachelor leader then responded swiftly and firmly, warning about the devlish rats that roamed through the city and sent chills down Akira's spine. Just one more reason she hated the city...it was going to be a long trip.

Evalynn
Black ears flattened slightly as the other mare began to shy away from her as she spoke. Evalynn hoped that she wasn't that intimidating to the other mares. The stallions, that was more than okay with her, but she found herself feeling... disappointed with the thought of the other mares being scared of her. Perhaps it was her size. Not many mares- well, not many horses as well- measured up to, or past her tall figure. Hopefully that was all that had startled the mare. As the smaller mare glanced over at her, Evalynn could see caution flitting across her face, and she tried to give the buckskin a cheerful smile, as much as she could give in their situation.
Akira. She listened as the mare spoke her name, bitter words following afterwards. Silence lapsed between the two for a few heartbeats, in which she heard one of the mares speaking to Kyanos, and fought to not roll her eyes at them. Really, that mare was far too happy about being near the stallion, and being in this city in general. Evalynn's ears flicked around, listening to the groups hoof falls clatter in a dull, quiet symphony around the walls and buildings as they passed.
As Akira began to speak again, Evalynn turned her attention back to the mare, happy that she was able at least kind of distract the mare from her bad mood. While she spoke, Evalynn nodded half-heartedly, eyes seeming to dull for a split second.
"I had never set hoof on this island until the battle between Olde and Bachelors... And I had honestly hoped never to set hoof on this island again... However I wasn't even able to leave this island before a couple of brutes snatched me while I was wounded.." her eyes flashed in anger as she glared at one of the culprits- their current leader- before looking back to Akira. "You are quite... astute. Granted, I do stick out like a sore hoof among the other mares." she let out a half-hearted laugh.
"Though you don't really seem to.. fit the Bachelor mare mold either. Were you captured as well?" she questioned the buckskin curiously. However, before the mare could answer, Kyanos spoke up again, and she shook her head slightly. He was crazy. They were all within striking distance of each other, with him and the overly-happy mare not even two paces in front of Akira and herself... That's when she realized there was another mare who was not with either pair, and she turned her head to glance behind, noticing the small white mare was quite a few steps behind them.
Evalynn smiled at the small mare, hoping to encourage her. With this small a group, they definitely shouldn't be too far from each other. As she looked at the pale mare, she noticed the mare seemed quite fearful. Mistaking her fear as a fear for the city, Evalynn slowed her pace, hoping Akira would as well, and swished her tail softly. "Are you okay? If you need, I can slow down and walk with you, miss. We'll find a safe place soon, and you won't have to worry." As the words fell from her mouth, an uneasy feeling swept across her, forcing a ripple of discomfort across her scarred back, but forced her voice to remain light and encouraging.

Considering Iscah was not too far ahead of the others, she tried to pick up on the conversation of the two buckskins captives - or at least tried to. She cast a glance back to them, pondering if she should jump in their conversation. Being the chatter bug she was, things seemed so terribly boring without much talking, and she wanted to change that. Kyanos seemed too quiet and serious.
And then she whirled around, going over to join the Loner captive at her side. She smiled at her. "Have you ever been to the Fallen City You're the Loner captive, aren't you?" she asked. "Oh, pardon me, I don't believe we've had any proper greeting," the brood laughed a little, "my name is Iscah, I'm a lady brood." She looked over the mare, noting she was few hands taller and that her mane was quite beautiful and long. "And you? Might I ask your name?" Her brows raised slightly.
Kyanos spoke again and Iscah turned her head to him. "Oooh right, Mercedes," she said and looked back at the white-coated brood. "Would you like me to come back there with you, Mercedes?" she offered to the brood, offering her a warm smile.

Hearing voices coming near her, Mercedes snapped her head up, staring wide-eyed as Evalynn slowed down to approach her. She tossed her head subtly, trying to hide her scar of shame. Of course, that failed. She sighed lowly as her mane decided to flop in front of her eyes, forgetting the original plan and shaking her head to move her mane out of the way. So much for hiding her shame. She offered a small smile as the other mares joined her, and she started to feel incredibly claustrophobic. "Uh, thank you ladies, but I'm quite fine," Mercedes lowered her head, glancing nervously at Evalynn. Her body shuddered in unease as she walked, getting the urge to pick up the pace. She lifted her head, a new fire in her eyes as she watched Kyanos ahead of her. "C'mon girls, we should probably catch up before the rats get us," she joked, trying to keep the fear out of her soft voice. It would do no good to cause panic among the small group. She lifted her legs, picking up her pace to a quick trot as she hurried to catch up to Kyanos.
Merce sent an apologetic glance back at the mares, hoping they would understand why she sped up and kinda left them behind. She didn't know why, but she was feeling entirely uneasy. She felt like they were being watched, and her coat felt like ants were crawling all over her. She shuddered again, taking a deep breath. Keep calm Merce darling, you're going to be okay. She sighed to herself, flicking her ears to and fro. Maybe it was just from her lack of sleep and her imagination was running wild, but she swore she could hear little feet pattering on stone. She nickered lowly, watching the crumbling buildings out of the corner of her eye. Mercedes walked up until she was at Kyanos' side, lifting her head to look up at him. "So where exactly are we going, sir?"

The mares behind him were conversational, very. His short stub of an ear was constantly facing backwards as half of him listened to their words while the other half kept a watch out for danger. As much as he had wanted them to bond so they would look out for each other, it was also annoying to hear their chit chat when he was trying to listen for trouble. It was very distracting and only added to the white noise of their hooves on the paved, broken up road. He tried not to allow himself to get impatient with such simple things though, but he was feeling on edge. The eeriness of the city made him uneasy, and therefore it put him in the place to be easily irritated. He decided to redirect his energy though, put it toward doing the job he had been assigned. His eyes narrowed as he strained to see the buildings that surrounded them in better detail, looking for one that could make for a good shelter. If he found a large enough one it could make for a good hiding place. It would also make it easier to keep tabs on each of his charges.
Trotting hooves distracted him from his search momentarily and both ears flicked back toward the sound as he lifted his head. His immediate instinct had been to think someone was running off, but then he realized they were coming closer. He gave the slightest sigh of relief when the smallest mare moved to his side, though he didn't bother showing her any acknowledgement. His mind went right back to finding a good place to hide, hardly paying her any mind. It wasn't until she spoke that he managed to turn his short ear her way, though his eyes stayed set on the distant buildings that came around them on both sides. Just as she worded her softly-spoken question his head raised, his eyes narrowing and ears forward. "There." He replied as he motioned toward the building that had caught his attention. A high steeple stood tall over the rest of the buildings. Made of brick the old catholic church had lasted far better than the wooden buildings around it and it stood tall and strong in the middle of the rubble. It was huge, some of its stained glass windows still perfectly in tact. As they neared the wide open door seemed to greet them with open arms into its shelter.

{ Akira }
At this point, both of the young buckskin's ears were tuned in to the paint mare's words, quivering ever so slightly as she listened close. Ahah, so she was a capture...though Akira didn't usually say much, it didn't mean she was careless. In fact, being quiet most of the time helped her to observe and pick up on things most would overlook. Another habit due to her rogue-like lifestyle she supposed, though it came in handy more than once. Her brown eyes carefully noted how Evalynn eyed their group leader with bitterness and contempt, her jaw clenching as she added her own fiery gaze to his backside, which in turn caused a half smile to flicker across Akira's face if only for a moment. At least now she knew they were in the same predicament. It helped put her fluttering, skittish heart at ease if only a little. Her body, though, continued to prepare its fight or flight response, the buckskin not being able to help herself as he eyes wandered about her surroundings, instinctively looking for a way out. She just needed the right opportunity...
At the mention of the Olde, however, her wavering attention snapped back to Evalynn, her neck straightening a bit in surprise. "You...were with the Olde...?" she responded quietly, hoping Kyanos was more focused on looking for danger than their conversation, "You don't...happen to know...Aralynne...do you?" At the tall paint's next question, however, the spark in her chocolate brown irises vanished and her head bowed slightly once more, allowing her dark forelock to ripple down over her face. "No...I don't. I don't belong to any herd, let alone these brutes. I've been running from the Bachelor herd my entire life...," she replied in a mere whisper, her pace slowing to match Evalynn's as she encouraged the mare at the back to catch up, "Though at the same time...I've never been able to leave the island. Call it my curse...but as much as I wanted to get away, I also wanted...to do what I could to meddle in their business. You know...the disrupting sort. A petty attempt at revenge I suppose...though sooner or later I guess I was bound to get caught. You can't escape fate..." Her last sentence was almost inaudible as she trailed off, speaking more to herself than to the new acquaintance at her side.
As Evalynn's focus drifted to the dainty equine at the back, the one the last mare in their group had called Mercedes, Akira sighed softly in relief. She wasn't quite used to much attention, being on her own for so many years. You get used to the silence after a while. Yet, much to her dismay the peppy one soon caught the buckskin in her sights and once more she was captured by a new pair of eyes and a running mouth. As she introduced herself as Iscah, Akira looked her up and down skeptically, pursing her lips together a bit tensely and flattening her ears. Peh, a lady brood...sure, they were property of the bachelor brutes as well, but they also held certain privileges unlike the slave broods. Even the term slave brood spoke for itself. And that's what Akira was now...a slave. "Yes...," she responded to Iscah's inquiry if she was a loner, though through clenched teeth, "...Nice to...meet you." Her muscles once more tensed beneath her pale, smooth skin, every instinct pushing her to make a run for it, to escape this prison the others were too scared or ignorant to.
Much to her gratitude, the fragile Mercedes at last had enough of all the sudden focus on her and sped through the group of mares to the front right at Kyanos's heels. "I guess she doesn't care for conversation much either," Akira mused mentally, purposely allowing herself to fall slightly behind while everyone was paying attention to the pale female. At sight of the rather large scare marring the poor girl's face, once more Akira felt a pang of sympathy for Mercedes. The bachelors were monsters to have done that to such an innocent filly... Taking a deep breath as Jaxon once more entered her mind, she reluctantly admitted to herself that they weren't all that way...but traditionally the stallions who followed the code of the bachelors with a passion were snakes, preying on the innocent females they saw as property instead of fellow equines.
Much to Akira's surprise, Mercedes began to chat up their esteemed bachelor leader, asking where they were going. Very subtly, her sooty black legs slowed even more to almost a snail's pace, putting her at the very back of the group and continuing to increase her distance between them. Almost...she almost had an opening...as much as she loathed the city and the rats that roamed its ruins, if there was even a sliver of a chance she could get back her freedom, it would be worth it. Even more so, her heart shuddered at the tall cathedral that arose before them, seeing how Kyanos indicated that this would be their shelter. Some would see this as sanctuary from the rain, a place to rest and feel protected. But to Akira...it was a prison, its very walls erected just for the purpose of keeping her contained, keeping her trapped and vulnerable. In that church, there was no where to run if things turned ugly. Her eyes locking onto the opening, she finally came to a dead halt, frozen in fear at the darkness within that threatened to swallow her whole if she continued through its entrance. Her hooves skittered on the cracked pavement nervously, her legs spasming slightly as her mind screamed at her to run. Without her even realizing it, a ripple of transparency dashed across her body before her appearance solidified again, her recently awakened gift testing its limits due to the terror-guided endorphins flooding her body. One step, then another she backed up, her eyes glued to Kyanos as she waited for him to look away from the group and give her the opportunity she desperately wanted.

Evalynn
When Akira spoke up, she tilted her head slightly, trying to remember if she knew a mare by that name. Aralynne. The name sounded vaguely familiar, but she doubted she'd know for sure unless she saw the mare. "Err.. Possibly. If this Aralynne was in Olde, odds are I met her at some point, but I don't recognize that name immediately." Listening as Akira spoke again, she glanced at the mare. "You were a loner." she stated, rather than asked.
"What, may I ask, were you trying to get rev-" Another voice spoke up, cutting off her question.
Evalynn's ears folded back as the loud mare- realizing soon from the too-happy mare's mouth that she was a lady brood- spoke up. The paintaloosa rolled her eyes; That must be why she was so chipper, and not in a sour mood like Akira and herself. She watched from the corner of her eye as the mare completely ignored her, and she wasn't sure if she thought that was a blessing, or just plain rude. Torn between her indigence, and relief, She waited for the small mare, ears pricked- again learning from the over-zealous mare the white mares' name: Mercedes- to reply on whether or not she wanted to walk with Evalynn and Akira.
At Mercedes' polite decline, Evalynn saw the mare's coat ripple in discomfort as Mercedes eyed her, rushing past her to catch up with Kyanos. Her ears falling back, Evalynn noticed Akira had now pulled to the back of the pack. Sensing Akira didn't really want to be crowded, and not particularly wanting to be stuck walking beside the peppy Iscah, Evalynn chose to veer away slowly, almost hugging the the buildings' crumbling walls as she trotted silently. For some reason, the further they walked into the city, the stronger the unease was beginning to seep into the paintaloosa's muscles. Blue eyes scanned the streets, and the buildings, trying to figure out what exactly was causing her to feel her fight-or-flight instinct to rise. Because she was ahead of Akira, she failed to see the buckskin's coat flickering visability, instead looking to the building with the colorful glass that Kyanos had chosen for them to bunker down in. Eyeing the building, Evalynn lashed her tail slightly, not sure she really wanted to go into the building. While aesthetically pleasing, it seemed quite forlorn to the mare.
