Shiya
Late Autumn Year 400
It had been some days since Kanu and the others, minus the mare they called Seeker, came back. Though she was always stayed a distance from the others, it had been easy to see they were upset or in her protector's case full of shame. He told her what become of Seeker, of the deal as best as he could. The muddy mare did understand Seeker had gone with something called the Bachelors, she simply didn't understand why. However it was clear everyone else understood. Maybe they also understood WHY there was suddenly so many other horses around now. A entire herd came barely two days ago. Many of them seemed happy to see this small band of horses she stayed near. Only because of her injuries and her saviour Kanu of course. All she could hear was them greeting one another and talking. No doubt catching up with what has been happening since they separated. Not Shiya though. The moment they arrived, Shiya kept her distance from the reunited herd; hiding but still close by. Kanu was the only one Shiya knew or trusted well enough to willingly be near, though she supposed she had been warming up to the others. However she was back to being Kanu's shadow; unseen but never far. For now she simply watched, too timid to wade into the herd and seek out Kanu.

The small grulla sighed heavily as she dragged her heavy feet across the ground of her new, temporary home. The trek had been a long one, especially with the young foals, and the elders of the herd, and Adhara could only hope that it would all be worth it. Hearing news that Seeker had been taken as a sort of rent payment was heartbreaking, and knowing the Bachelors would be back for more was somewhat terrifying. How many more herd members would they lose? Would she be the next to step up and offer herself as a tribute? The thought sent a shudder down her spine. The Exiles were resilient, but they had been through so much already. Addie could only hope that they would finally be able to catch a break.
Looking around, she began actually taking in her new surroundings. The landscape was a far cry from that of the Southern Isle, rich, lush emerald fields seemed to roll on forever. It was a bittersweet experience for many, but especially for Adhara. Though she'd traveled the Isles her entire childhood, the Southern Isle had been her home for the past 15 years. She had heard stories of the southernmost island being a rich, forest paradise, but she hadn't shown up until after the fires and storms had begun once more. As she studied the faces of her weary herd mates, she noticed an unfamiliar horse, who seemed to be incredibly lost and confused amongst the fray.
Slowly, Adhara began walking towards the timid looking mare, not wanting to frighten the small creature. As she drew nearer, she spoke, her voice gentle and reassuring. "Are you alright, dear? You seem rather nervous...Not that I could truly blame you with all that has happened, but I can assure you, you are safe." She smiled warmly at the younger mare, hoping she hadn't scared her off. As much as she wanted to help the mare, she was in need of someone to talk to herself.
