[ Khala ]
It was a peaceful day overall. Well, minus her mother. The young filly wrinkled her nose. Snorting, she tossed her short mane, and trotted away from the herd with vigor. There was just something about that mare. . . she was INFURIATING! All Khala had to do was step one hair out of line, or head off early to train alongside her father, and the pearl scout was at her throat with another complaint about 'wasting time' or 'being too distant.' Pah! What use was she to their herd anyways!? Jae did absolutely nothing for the good of the Exiles. All the chimera wanted was to be away from her, and after a good yell back, she left in a rage, fuming to herself.
The other foals usually played in the center of the herd's grazing area, and so she headed that way, tail flicking back and forth with frustration. Maybe there would be a few more colts to snap at today. . . Or, a few dumb fillies that could use a good lashing! The vibrant chestnut slowed to a walk as she neared their little hollow, raising her slight roman nose and proudly proceeding forward. A few of the foals her age turned to look at her, an odd emotion reflecting in their eyes. Pah, she didn't want to play with them anyways! Instead of stopping, she shoved her way through the little group, heading towards a farther, more secluded area to fume alone in silence. Or maybe she'd get lucky and her dad would be back from his most recent mission. Sighing, Khala walked onwards, paying no heed to her beautiful surroundings or anyone that could have been in them.

A small dark form lay amongst the tall grass, long legs curled tightly around her small belly. The filly let out a heavy sigh, letting her weight rest heavily against the dying tree stump she had chosen to rest beneath. Her nose twitched slightly, again feeling the swollen pressure in her cheek where one of the colts had kicked her. Large golden eyes looked down to eye the feint scraps along her skinny legs. In the tustle, she had fallen against some rocks hidden beneath the grassy fields that lead into the forest.
The little filly sniffed and quickly wiped away the tears that began forming in her eyes, only causing an irritation to form in her young mind. More than anything, she was angry at herself. All she had wanted was to adventure with the older colts and their only response was the make fun of her. Out of anger, she had charged one of them and in turn, received a good kick in the face. Her parents had been no help either; scolding her for being so reckless. But they had started it! She would prove to them that she was just as good at adventuring.
It mattered little anymore though, and Cael's only conclusion was to retreat to the abandoned fields. At least here, the other foals would leave her be.

[ Khala ] As she continued along her wandering path, Khala's ears rested backwards. With a tiny leap, she threw her legs out behind her in a frustrated buck, swiping them against the edge of a bush that clattered it's branches in protest. A few tiny leaves fluttered from their perch, and the filly's golden gaze followed them downwards. She huffed and turned away. Playing with a bush wasn't going to be any fun either. . . they didn't play back.
And so, she walked on again, leaping over a tiny fallen tree and imagining herself on some grand adventure in the wild alongside her father. Hmmmm. It was always so boring when the tall seal bay was gone. As she stopped to gaze over the horizon, soft sniffles reached her ears. Khala spun on the spot. Where was the hurt creature?! Oh! This could be an adventure after all! Excitedly, the young mare bound through the trees, ears swiveling to locate where the sound was coming from. It wasn't long before she stumbled, nearly literally, upon another filly laying against a tree stump. Khala had to project her momentum into a jump in order to prevent herself from falling over the hurt horse.
Slowly, Khala walked backwards, eyes surveying the black filly. "Are- are you alright?" she asked with surprising warmth in her voice. "Are you hurt?"

It happened so fast there was barely any time to register the form that flew in front of her; the foal's long legs awkwardly flying through the air. Gold eye's blinked once, the tears that once rested there now dried against her dark cheeks. Words finally brought back reality, reminding Cael of why she was there to begin with. Forcing a frown, she wiped the remaining dampness from her face and stood on unbalanced legs. "Why do you care?!" She was dwarfed against the older foal's size; thought it mattered little to her. Anger and frustration raged in the small filly's mind, all too quick to notice the rough-and-tumble exterior of the other and miss what should have been obvious. The concerned face that stood before her mixed with her memories of the colts who had taunted her. But what was the difference anyway? It mattered little who she tried to play with, they all turned her away eventually.
Another small sniff escaped her throat as she began to turn away, the thoughts reminding her of her loneliness; something she was not about to share. "And I wasn't crying," the words were unconvincing, even to herself, but in some way validatig what she wanted to be true. With a flop, she returned to her curled position beneath the stump. "I'm playing hide and seek."
