Greer imagined what Cethin's mate looked like. Probably very handsome and tall. With a long mane and tail that flowed behind them. Their coat probably gleamed with golden hints, like a god. She compared herself to what she imagined this mystery horse would look like. Her mane wasnt very long. It went down to her shoulder, not short, but not very godess like. It was riddled with knots and a braid, and her forelock was the only pretty thing about it, it reached down to her nose with a slight wave. You could tell now not with the snow weighing it down and gluing it to her neck but it was wavy in the summer. Her color was unique, a grulla paintalloosa. But spending time out in the harsh climate had dulled it, except for now when it was riddled with snow flakes that sparkled under the winter sun. But her scars. Cethin's mate probably had none, a perfect specimen. Her body was riddled with scars everywhere. She didnt really try to avoid getting them, she liked the pain. It distracted her from the inevitibility of being alone for the rest of her sorry life. The scar that covered the most half of her face was greyish-pink, and her eye was silver. As if someone had replaced her sparkling blue saphires with a big hunk of valuble silver. But she would trade back for her blue gems any day. Her one eye was pretty though. Her father had always told her that 'your eyes are prettier then the sky' and she beleived him. But now the sky wasnt looking too good.

Cethin watched as the mare entered a dream land. He relaxed himself and pulled up more weeds, his eyes still on her. He felt guilty for actually enjoying the mare's presence, as if he wasn't paying respect to his own mate. He was at war with himself between the two horses. He blinked and whisked all the thoughts away. He wasn't extraordinary. Rather just ordinary, quite simple, quite normal, he wasn't anything special at all.
"Have you met the Perditim Moose before, then? You looked as if you've only had the blood transaction this once."

Greer nodded, coming back to reality. "No, ive never come across one. I usually avoid them." She said softly, nibbling on a few bites off bark. "I did run into one once actully, littterally run. A was racing around a corner, bad customers you know, and i didnt even see the big moose before i slammed into him like a hunk of meat." She chuckled, remembering her panic and the "im-so-done" look on the moose's face.

Cethin laughed a bit with her story. He imagined the moose was either really tired or just she got away before it got her. "So, tell me about yourself, you big mystery." He'd already told her a bit about himself, so hopefully it wouldn't be too hard for her to do the same, besides if she didn't tell he could just bring up some other question to pass the time.

Greer cleared her throught, preparing herself to tell him, off all horses, the truth about where she came from. She'd never told anyone, she didnt really know why, she was just afraid she guessed.
"Well, i grew up on bachelor lands, near the riddle mountains. We had a pretty good deal, kind of away from most others, but i mean, it was nice. good parents, good food, love." She said with a grimace of what was not just a distant memory. "Then, when i turned 14, my dad wanted to take us somewhere new ya know? We weere running out of land and food, we needed somewhere new. Like the summer fields. We were gonna live there as a family..." She said slowly, saying the story for the first time outloud had her shaking. "And then a storm came, and i lost them and i got struck by lightning. im lucky to be alive, let alone functioning. Some say its a miracle. I wish id died with them. I found them at the bottom of a cliff that afternoon, necks broke." She said, ending the tale bluntly, silent tears carving streams down her finely boned cheeks.

Cethin replied, "I know how you feel, both my parents were..." He didn't know what to say and paused, "I watched my mother wither away, I faked my daughter's death, I saw my best friend drown. It happens to all of us, death is something you can't control." He nudged her muzzle, curly forelock falling away from his eyes. "But it's something you can either hate and deny or accept." He blinked and stared into her eyes before pulling away slowly. The sun was setting soon. He kneeled into the snowy grass. The perditim moose around them provided a radiating herd's body heat, but he still shivered. He nudged the ground next to him, "It'll be cold tonight."

Greer ambled over, her hooves crunching in the thick snow. She leaned up against him, nose still tingling from where he touched her. She wiped her tears off on his neck, and then straightened it to face him, looking into those big, orange eyes. They were so different. He was this tall, black horse with mental strength and wisdom. Meanwhile, she just put up a front to hide her emotions away but on the inside she was crumbling. Her breath met his, as her face grew nearer to his like a magnetic pull.
