Greer and Cethin cross paths during a horrible storm, and must band together if they want to escape the trecherous outland marsh.
Starting post:
Snow blinded Greers already limited vision. Her silver eye served no help. This morning had seemed so peaceful, and then bam, snow was pelting her, coming down in sheets. The marsh she had wandered into served little releif, but the trees somewhat camoflouged her dark coat. The last few weeks had been a struggle for the small mare. She had wandered the Bachelor lands since she had said goodbye for the stallion Cethin for the last time (or so she thought). After that, she'd just wandered, and wandered, and wandered some more. She tried her hardest to get that stupid horse out of her mind but she just couldn't.
Her hooves pressed into the freezing mud, making horrible squishing noises. The air was no longer hot and humid, it was cold and unforgiving. Her hair, which would usually get frizzy and poofy here, was frozen against her thin, muscled neck. The only noise she could hear over the ear splitting wind was the sound of howls in the distance. Grass beasts. Recently, she'd earned a scar on her ribs and back legs from them. She'd come out ok though.
Greer was slapped back to reality as she heard a horrible cracking noise, and suddenly fell downward. More cracking occured as her body fell into a frozen over pond. She hadn't even relised she'd stepped onto it. Soon, she was neck deep in ice water. She screamed loudly as she sank deeper into the freezing water. Within minutes her legs were numb and she couldnt feel the bottom of the small pond.Greer screamed for help, begging for anyone to come save her, although she knew that there was no one nearby. She tried to keep paddling but as soon as her legs became numb she had a harder and harder time wading in place. She was drowning.

Cethin curved his neck so his head was rather arched, against the wind. It warmed him, however funny he looked. The marsh was dangerous now. He couldn't deny it. He would have changed into his rat form, but he wasn't sure having a smaller body would help him much. As he was making up his mind through the flurries of snow he heard the scream. It cut through the air like the claws of a grass beast.
He flattened his ears against the wind and strained to hear it again. He turned to face the next one. The sound, if he were to follow it, would lead him right into the heart of the storm. Cethin wondered if whatever this was was worth his time.
He trekked along towards the sound, he'd been close luckily, so when he found Greer after a few minutes he didn't know what to think. The mare looked cold, very cold. "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING IN HERE IDIOT!" He lunged towards her and caught her crest in his teeth, he dragged her slowly towards him, hooves skidding on the ice. Then he turned, realizing an effort to drag her onto the fragile surface was almost impossible. He yelled as he shifted into the small rat. He held up a paw with a squeak to the mare and then made his way to the frozen dirt nearby. He began to dig, cutting his paws deeply. He shoveled to mud out onto the ice until after another few minutes there was a formidable pile. He pushed the heap with all his small might to the water and watched it fall.
Countless times he did this until the mud seemed to build up. He shifted in more rocks now, to make it sturdy. Then he nodded to the mare. Hopefully she'd be able to climb out now, otherwise Cethin didn't know what to do.

Greers numb hooves managed to claw the front half of her body up and onto the ice, her skin quivered and shook. With the last of her strength she kicked up her back legs and slid herself onto the ice. She layed there, trembling, for what felt like hours. Her body shook like a leaf. She couldn't think, it hurt so much.
Who came? She wondered. She couldnt move enough to see anyone, only heard the pitter patter of tiny paws around her. She prayed it wasn't some sort of predator or a lunar raven. Suddenly, the pitter patter of paws changed to the click clack of hooves. She only got a glimpse of black hooves and black legs before her mind turned black aswell.

Cethin changed and breathing heavily looked at the mare beside him. He saw her fall unconscious and kneeled, laying himself down beside her. He used the marsh grass to pull up and make a sort of blanket against the snow. The flat of the marsh would kill them, there was nearly nothing for shelter. "You, sweetheart, what idiot like you would wander around the marsh in the middle of a blizzard." He smiled and then thought if he'd been out he must have been an idiot too.

When she woke up, the snow had stopped. The sun was blaring down on her through the trees, and she was laying on a pile of marsh grass. She felt herself leaning up against a warm heap, and turned her stiff neck to look. Cethin? It was cethin! He was so warm, and soft next to her. She let herself lean back into him, and buried her face in his short curly mane. It was so much different from hers, hers being long and only slightly wavey. Her breathing matched his, slow and calm. Warm and tired.

Cethin blinked open his eyes at a shift, he couldn't believe he had fallen asleep, much less next to Greer. He rolled away and stood, shaking snow from his pelt. "Morning sweetheart," he drawled out lazily, taking the marsh grass and uprooting it, munching it down quietly as he watched her. "Aren't you quite the morning horse." He smiled and turned away form her to make his way through the snow towards a sparse grove of trees.
"I don't care if you're hurt or not sweetie, but if you want to live and not get picked off by the beasts we may as well look for some moose." He faced her, jaw dropping with the last word sarcastically. He rolled his eyes at her and began his trek yet again.

Greer's semi thawed out hooves scrambled on the slippery, wet grass. She trotted after Cethin, still suprised to see him. "What are you doing way out here besides, saving damsels in destress?" She laughed. "I can't beleive it's you. What happened yesterday and why do i feel half frozen from the neck down?" She rambled on, teeth clattering. Although the snow had momentarily stopped it was still cold as all get out. She had to stretch to keep up with the black stallion, as she shook out her still sticky wet mane.

"Let's see," Cethin began to list all the things that had happened, "I was going to collect some flowering for Grange, then a stupid wind whipped itself up and temperatures dropped. Then a mare like you screamed and I found you neck deep in a icy body of water." He shook his head and sent shivers down all the way to his tail, knocking what was left of the snow back off again. Now there was only a light fall. He smiled though, it was nice to see such a mare again. "Sweetheart, might I ask your name, again. I don't believe you complied to my wish the first time I asked." He looked at her quickly and then faced the grove again. If there were any of the Perditim Moose here they'd be safe for a while, the trees offering plausible covering and the animals' thick flowering would be easy to live on.
His hoof stuck in some frozen mud and he lifted it with a tug, mud splattering on him and the mare. He laughed a bit and uprooted a clump of muddy grass, flinging the mud caught on the roots at Greer. If the mare would just chat all the way to the grove they'd never get there, but if they played a game, something was bound to cause her to actually run.

Greer laughed, but she wondered who grange was. Maybe that's why the stallion was acting so much...happier since their last meeting. "Well, I guess we have alot to catch up on, and for your information my name is Greer." She stopped mid sentence as mud splattered onto her flank. "Hey!" She laughed, kicking some mud at him in return. She laughed some more, and half reared playfully and took off through the muddy ground, looking carefully for any icy patches.

Cethin watched as she gained on him, mud splattering on her chest and legs. He too, he supposed, was just as dirty and he probably, with anyone else would've acted a bit sheepish for the filth. With her it was easy, for she shouldn't care how he looked. It was so easy. "Come on darlin'" He slid to a stop at the copse of trees, "because I don't want to die out here in the snow and icy water, we'll be saying hi to some Perditim Moose." He smiled and pushed past tree branches, nodding as the bull with disappearing flora appeared. I let him draw blood and stood back, lazily chewing the flora and smiling cockily to Greer, "Having some?"

Greer looked uneasily at the Perditim moose. She had never come this close to one but she figured it was better a trade then a death. She tensed as the bull readied to sink his teeth into her, and she winced as she felt them go into her veins. After a minute it wasnt so bad and he released her. She reached up and snagged a bite of the grass from between his antlers. It was suculent still and she didnt understand that but she didnt question it. When she had her fill she lazily stood, leaning on a tree.
"So Cethin. What have you been up to these past few months?" She asked with a playful grin.

Cethin cocked a hoof and shifted his weight, "Enjoying time with my mate, chasing off Exiles, sliding down mountains." He smiled a bit at the last thought, after all it was true, and funny at that. His eyes turned blissful, he missed Grange, he'd been traveling around the mountains and had made it to the marsh, looking for some of the Moose. He thought that learning more of the species may benefit the herd should they ever run into some. "You?" He could imagine if the mare was like anything she mentioned last time they'd met, she'd have been battling more bachelors, pissing of the olde's king, and dodging sharks. The horse was adventurous after all.

Greer's smile faded as he mentioned the word 'mate.' She didnt know why but she felt disapointed. "I uh...met someone..." She said with a stutter. It was true, but it wasnt how she hoped. "But...he's dead now." She said quietly. "So..who's the lucky girl?" She asked with a fake grin.

Cethin shifted a bit sheepishly, "No girl, sweetheart." He dropped his head to the snow and pulled up a tussock of grass, keeping his head low to the ground. "He's nice." The mare's voice had caused him to withdraw from the conversation a bit, "Who's this someone?" He asked raising an eyebrow. The steady bellows and munching of moose behind them added to a sweet, serene, environment. He flicked an ear and looked up at the mare again, she was, he had to admit, pretty. In a gruff kinda way, much like how most of the broods were. She was tough though and, unicorns, her personality was something like a snakes, lashing out constantly it seemed when provoked.

Greer tried not to be weird when she relised that he was with another male. She didnt really care, but she didnt want to scare him away either. It still frustrated her a little bit, and she felt her jealousy growing. She decideed to just carry the conversation on.
"My half brother. He was Fairyin messed up though so i don't care if he's dead or alive. He tried to kill me." She said calmly, looking back up at Cethin who, she noticed, was looking at her. She blushed slightly, but tried to mask it with a small cough. She admitted to herself that he was very handsome. His curly mane was rather cute and his coat and build just added to his dashing appearance. She'd never thought of herself as a looker. Her scar made her feel ugly.
