"Quite The Predicament" Roxanna of the Exiles is sick and tired of living in a mixed herd of bachelors and exiles, and decidedly needs some time away from the herd. Feeling annoyed and alone, she rushes out into the wilderness to find herself a quiet spot to be alone. Who knows who or what she'll run into out there Posting Order 1. Roxanna (Elesette) 2. Kiro (Mythicalprancer) 3. OPEN -- please ask before joining! ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Roxanna huffed. With the bumbling sky above her and the hot humid are completely and totally ruining her mane and tail - the mare was not in a good mood. Rather, she was in a very bad mood. The red mare had spent the last few years of her life trying to escape the Bachelor rule, and now she was back in their grasp again. While she still claimed allegiance to the Exiles, the petite horse was starting to convince herself it wasn't a very good idea in the first place. She should have become a loner. If she had done that, she could be dilly dallying on the last green land, eating her fill of berries and grass, and not feeling like she had to look over her shoulder ever few moments. She was surprised the Bachelors hadn't noticed she was a former member of their herd, yet the dumb brutes were bound to figure it out sooner or later. She didn't want to be around when they did.
So she had begun her trek early in the morning, before the clouds had started to cover, and far before the thunder began to crack in the afternoon sky. This was something she did not miss about the Eastern Island. She disliked the rain, and disliked the humidity clinging to her coat even more. Squish. The sudden sound under her hooves had the mare stop in her tracks. She looked down slowly, afraid to see what had spread out underneath the weight of her hooves. She prayed it wasn't a puddle. Roxanna was not in the mood to get dirty now, or ever. What she saw had her reeling back in disgust. She had thought mud would have been bad, what she found below here was worlds worse. Tar.
The red mare crinkled her nose at the blackish-brownish substance that now clung to her once spotless hooves and let out a disheartened moan. "Of course it couldn't be mud" She thought to herself as she tried compulsively to get the goo off of herself, "Its not even raining, there couldn't have been any mud". Roxanna groaned. Now that she was more irritated then before, she set out with a bisk trot, making a note to stare at her feet and the ground from now on. She just wanted to get away, she didn't need the land pulling at her to stay too. Her heart was pulling hard enough.

"Quite the Predicament"Kiro | Loner | Thief
The damp air swayed its way through the mustang's dark mane and down his muscular back, sending a wave of chills along it. The East Island. What a pain it was to pass through these lands every time to reach the South and Kiro caught himself wishing more often than not that there was a third land-bridge avoiding it. Of course, one could argue that the sly thief should feel nothing but at home near a herd like the Bachelors who shared his mindset on mares but that couldn't be futher from the truth. Frankly, he thought they were rather pathetic in having the need to use brutish methods to achieve what they wanted from a gender so much weaker than themselves. No, Kiro's initiative had always been that you caught far more flies with honey than with vinegar. Then again, he didn't expect many of them to have half the intelligence that he did, or an upbringing trained precisely to deceive and strike. Deep in thought, he glanced over in the general direction their herd usually resided with a slight snarl of his lip when his ears suddenly flicked to the sound of hoofsteps in the distance and his attention was immediately directed to the figure in the distance. Slim, red and small... Probably a mare but not any loner he knew. Perhaps she was an escaped broodmare? Kiro wasted no time in finding out, smirking to himself as he made his way over in a brisk canter watching his step carefully. If she was a broodmare this would make for an interesting situation and he, was in need of some entertainment. Slowing down to a controlled trot he joined her side before stopping and bowing his head before her, hiding his sly smile before he returned the eye contact and raised his head again. "My oh my, what chance could there be that I would encounter another charming individual alone on these lands? A mare nonetheless of the most dashing shade of red."

"Quite the Predicament" Roxanna | Exile | Scout The dainty mare made her way through the swamp carefully after her first incident. Concentrating hard on the ground in front of her, she didn't bother to look up or think to scout for intruders of her personal bubble. Roxanna was not fit her rank, that much was obvious in the way she trekked the land. To her, there was nothing to scout ahead for, just the ugly bog in front of her. So when a voice suddenly hit her ears, the exile was all but shocked to death. She must have leaped three or four steps to the side then, barely daring to look up from the treacherous path in front of her. Still, she was more upset about where she landed, than the sudden scare. This time, her puddle was mud, and now she was absolutely covered in it. The bubbly half liquid clung to her ribs and to her legs, and what was beautiful white stockings a second ago, were now brownish blotted stripes. At first, she looked up at the intruder, a stallion, with a gaping mouth and wide eyes. She was shocked by his sudden presence. It was only another moment however, before her wide orbs narrowed into squinted slits. This was his fault. An inhuman sound came from the pit of her stomach and she started stepping angrily towards the stallion.
"Well sir!" she started, charging up to him as if to size him up, "I don't know about you but when I try to compliment a lady I do so without scaring her half to death and covering her in mud" It was apparent that the stranger stallion hadn't meant to cover her in mud, but Roxanna was angry. The truth of the matter was not going to stop her from getting up in his face. She sniffed, once or twice, when a drop of mud fell from her hair onto her knee. She looked down at it with eyes full of utter and complete sadness. It was only then she decided to take his compliment, "But, thank you for your words... I am quite charming" She batted her eyes, if only mostly to herself. Roxanna was, in a word, quite vain.

"Quite the Predicament" Kiro | Loner | Thief
To his surprise, the little mare had taken quite the leap to the side at his approach straight into a very unappealing puddle of mud but Kiro made sure to take one or two steps back as she did to avoid the splatter. Wow, he thought to himself, you would assume an escapee of the bachelors to be more cautious of who may lurk in the distance. Then, before he really had any time to give her a 'heartfelt' apology, she was already closing the space between them in an attempt to intimidate. He didn't mind so much as it was more amusing than what she had intended it to be but to some degree it still irked him that he was not the one doing the invading of personal space, but her. He quickly brushed it off however, adamant to abuse his charming and charismatic nature to wrap yet another mare round his hoof. Noticing how well she took the the compliment the buckskin gave her a very innocent and kind smile whilst on the inside he was grimacing, already deciding he was going to use her vanity to his advantage. Clearing his throat, Kiro spoke up again. "Oh! I am terribly sorry for what I have caused milady" He took a look at the mud on her and 'guiltily' looked away with a frown as if he was, truly sorry. "You see..." he began to verbally prod for a cue about her origin, "Forgive me for being blunt but I had assumed for a beautiful mare who had outsmarted the unforgiving brutes to be at least a little bit more aware of her surroundings not to be startled by my oncoming presence."

"Quite the Predicament" Roxanna | Exile | Scout As she looked over her body, the little mare did her best to flick off what she could of the mud. She really was in for a bath now. If the Exile leaders would have objected before, they couldn't possibly now. She was a mess, and besides, the drying mud could pull out patches of her coat. She would not have that, not at all. She just needed to get away from this stallion first, but at least he wasn't a Bachelor. They hadn't taken kindly to her when she was a member of the herd, surely they wouldn't take kindly to her now that she'd been escaped for almost two years. Still, he was pretty nasty for just some lone horse that had appeared on the horizon. She looked at the stranger with peering eyes, and suddenly something about him changed. She wasn't sure if he had shifted to the side, or if his eyes simply got brighter, but she knew that the change felt awkward. It sliced the air and she didn't like it one bit. As he spoke, she turned her attention from the mud to him, and was surprised by his suddenly relaxed body. She had thought him crude a moment ago, but somehow his demeanor had changed. He had gone from predator to some sort of gentleman prey. She didn't like it at all, not one bit.
"Well, that might be true for a Bachelor mare... but that I am not" She had been offended on multiple accounts. He had called her slow, in a way, to react, and called her a brood all in the same sentence, she narrowed her eyes. The red mare didn't want to place an opinion yet, but she was feeling she would not like this stallion at all. She side stepped away from him, his presence made her completely uneasy. She might have been a ditz in her previous life, but she had always had good intuition, and it was telling her now, that danger was on the rise. Roxanna shuffled her feet.
"Im not a Bachelor mare, and I don't have to worry about them coming after me.... it seems I just have to worry about stray lone stallions instead" she flicked her tail in annoyance and began to walk away, planting her eyes directly towards the ground as she had before. Roxanna would not be stepping in anymore mud today. She'd had enough, and the increasing ammount of tar around her was increasing her worry. Perhaps she could loose this stray dog in the labyrinth it had created.

"Quite The Predicament" Kiro | Loner | Thief
He glanced her up and down when she spoke, funny, she had that bachelor mare air about her... The herd's mentality often affected the slaves and ladies so much that it would always show if they had been there to some degree, even if they tried to hide it. Though, perhaps he had been wrong this once? No... He chuckled slightly at her snappy behaviour, keeping up his charming act as she explained but was obviously wary of him. He just had to find a way to... ease her mind a little cunningly. But how? He nodded his head at her sentence, noticing how she referred to him as a 'lone stallion' and it tugged at his mind that this meant she still had to belong to a herd since he knew most of the loners by now. What herd? He glanced over his shoulder to the nearest island. Ah...
He simply fell in step smoothly behind her as she walked away from him smiling warmly though his heart was cold as stone. "How foolish of me to insult such a proud Exile mare with a brood title, do forgive me." It was an educated guess, but a 50% gamble all the same as he lowered his head to level with hers as she eyed the ground in concentration which was something he did not need to do often after the many times he had travelled this land. He could look down through the corners of his eyes as he focused on his newest prey with smooth movements. "Tell me, what could have brought such a fair lady so far away from home and towards this territory of disgusting brutes?" Though he hated them himself, he was mostly playing in on the reaction she had given him when he had called her a brood as she clearly held a dislike towards them.

Roxanna was not one for petty word games, or rather, she was not one to loose at them. This stallion obviously thought otherwise and now she found herself extremely put off by everything he said. He was definitely not her type. Her type would have known to save the smooth words and games until after she trusted them, not a moment sooner. She narrowed his eyes as he called her Exile. Of course, there were only three herds on the plains of Chevalin, but it would have been nicer for him to ask instead of guess. As far as Roxanna was concerned, she was playing a loner today. The exiles had never felt like home to her anyway, just a place to play "herd" and bat her eyes at the next lonely stallion. Roxanna had enough of that life style, she was aiming to leave, here, now, and for good. Why did this prickly fellow have to involve himself?
"Look sir, I have no hate for the Bachelor 'brutes'" She paused careful to step around a rather large pit of quicksand. She huffed, now that would have been quite the predicament if she had fallen in it, she almost hoped to herself that the stranger stallion would. Then she would have enough of his words and could trot on into a new life. "They have a culture of their own, and if you had any sort of intelligence about you --" She spat the word intelligence like it was something that might wound him, taking a second to look him over with her daring eyes. "you might have realized that not every herd has to bend to the same expectations and rules... though I'd imagine you'd fit in well with those brutes" It became quite apparent Roxanna loathed smooth talkers. She had when she was a member of the Bachelors, and she did now. Simple as that. She'd much rather be the one chasing than running away when it came to any stallion, friend or foe.
"I could ask you the same question you know... why out by such a scary old marsh?" Roxanna smiled and narrowed her eyes, prancing around the holes of tar and quicksand like she was wrapping words around the stallion.
