"Bonds"Year 401, Spring The Eastern Island
Moirragh, Age 24
Twitch. Nothing.
Twitch. Still nothing.
"Ugh, could tis' night be any more quietly annoying?"
With a downwards flop of her ears, Ragh dropped her head on the cold grass, trying to get a hold of something that could distract her from her insomniac nights. The hectic days that had been left behind awakened Ragh's inner fears and anxiety, and it was beggining to take its toll on the mare- the purplish circles around her eyes and occassional whimper attacks were signs that her mind was far from quiet. As more time passed since she followed Cael and the herd, more did she question her decision. Sure, the Southern Island stood for doom and destruction now, but even that was far better from the torturous threat that the bachelors were. But only if you were born female, it seemed.
It was when those thoughts haunted her again that she stood hastily on four legs, shaking her neck and desperately looking for something that could blow her mind away. It seemed the little spot she'd found for the night was as ordinary as it could be- save for the gigantic wasp that hung from one of the bushes.
"For the love of everything that's holy-" That said, Ragh didn't take more than five seconds to approach the yellowish bug, which was way too familiar to her. "How did these get here? They could seriously hurt somebody..."
With those words, she warily looked around her, trying to spot either a herdmember or another nearby wasp. Someone could be in danger.

Kale, age 5 The small Exile colt sniffed impatiently through a small clump of foliage, his ears pinning as he took in an unpleasant scent. He screwed up his nose slightly as the pungent pollen traveled up his nostrils and tickled his nose. With a sneeze he jolted backward, shaking his head unpleasantly. Without his parents he was somewhat lost, what else was he to do when he was too shy to approach anyone and he was too at risk from the Bachelors to venture from the others? He longed to explore, but at the same time he was withdrawn and a part of him knew he wouldn't be able to find his way back.
What else could he do now? He had sniffed the plants, which to him was as pleasant as he could possibly make it. Flowers weren't for him.
He decided to adventure within the safety of the main Exiles.
Trotting bountifully along the lush green grass he spotted and entanglement of branches and leaves amongst the ground. Perfect. With a devious grin he frolicked over to the foliage and buried his nose in it. Resting on his front legs he begun digging into the soft earth beneath the leaves, pushing further and further until he was almost completely consumed by the leafy cave. Kale giggled to himself as he examined the inside of his new cubby house. It was fairly large inside, just fitting the small colt. "This isn't so bad." He said to himself, his voice squeaking as his sentence finished. Suddenly he heard a strange buzzing noise ringing in his sensitive ears, he raised an eyebrow, a puzzled look on his baby face. Cautiously looking toward the source of the sound his jaw dropped.
A bug.
A big bug.
Kale let out a small squeal as he backed up out of the bush, his long legs flailing about as he panicked. Once he was out of the tangle of branches he instantly begun running in the opposite direction. He was small and weak, so his gallop was somewhat pathetic. As he ran from the insect- which was now pursuing him- he glanced over his shoulder to check if he was in the clear. In that split second that he wasn't watching the path ahead he collided with something. Another horse. One much bigger than him. In the light he couldn't see the other very well, but he was instantly frozen as he scaled the stranger.

While on the walk to catch a glimpse or scent of any more wasps, Ragh became more and more nervous, slowly regretting having sought a nice place to rest for the night- away from the herd, away from Azibo and her comrades. The night had become darker, sky sprinkled with tiny stars that had taken the role of lamps. Scouting through the bushy area seemed harder when your eyes might just pop out from trying to grasp anything in the darkness.
And hers maybe did when something quickly hit her in the chestplate.
"FOR THE LOVE OF-!" The mare screeched, completely startled by the crash, and landed on her butt without letting a few kicks out.
That's when she realized she'd been hit by one of the weanlings of the herd- and that she'd maybe hit him with her kicks, severely hurting him or her.
"Ugh- I'm so, so sorry about that, little one, I just-" She babbled out, not sure of how to talk with the younger ones. She stood on her legs and tried to approach the foal. "I swear to Gaia I didn't ment to do that...Did I hurt you?"

The small colt scooted from the other stranger on his small rump, his long legs pushing him along the grass until he was a few meters from the other. He stared at her with wide eyes, unsure of what to do. His parents had always taught him to stay away from strangers, although in the Exiles everyone was close. Well, my parents aren't here. He said, smiling nervously. "Well, I would have been just fine. It was just a small bug. You didn't hurt me, I'm strong!" He exclaimed, his voice squeaking every few words. He stood up on shaky legs, his thin body shaking loose bits of grass from his coat. He puffed his chest out as best he could and stood firm, a determined look upon his fragile features.
He wasn't usually good at socializing with others, and generally kept to himself but he also didn't handle being without his parents which forced him to resort to seeking company from strangers- generally mares- to calm his nerves. This mare was a prime example, she seemed friendly enough. "What's your name?" He said, his words quivering. He was very nervous and had never asked any adult their name before. Even around other foals he didn't generally make the first move toward creating a friendship. But at the moment he was desperate for some attention, and he knew this is what other horses did to get it.

Her ears tilted upwards as he heard the colt's squeaky voice- he must be really young. The mare stopped on her tracks, observing the youngling fiddle around with his sloppy legs while trying to re-gain some of his composure. Ragh was certainly glad the boy was completely alright, or so it seemed. She smiled at his words too- children were all about being a bit braggy and this little guy wasn't failing that subject. Then, she replayed his words, stopping on a certain part: "It was just a small bug". A bug? That could have been one of those damned giant wasps.
Obviously, the next step was that of trying to get the colt to share what he had seen- if she was lucky, she could determine whether or not something was happening around, since giant wasps weren't native of this island- or so she thought. It had been years since she and her father had traveled the traitorous area of the Forbidden Forest, which was swarming with those vile-looking creatures. She even remembered their sting, strong enough to almost kill a foal. The high fevers she got from that would never leave her m-
Oh, the foal was speaking again. She'd lost track of everything while swimming in her memories, as usual. What an embarrassing blackout.
"Me name is Moirragh." She told him, nuzzling him softly with her upper lip. "Ye can call me Ragh if ye want- or whatever. I'll go along with any name." As if thinking how to socially deal with a kid, she pursed her lips in a weird way- she had something to ask, but as always, the embarrassment was there, even if only facing a small colt.
"Listen, 'bout that bug- I was wondering if...dangit." She cleared her throat and put on the softer face she could pull out. "If ye're so strong, I'm sure ye won't mind showing me that little bug ye found?" Curiosity was grabbing the best of her mind once again, and as she awaited his answer, she quickly added some bits she'd forgot to say. "Oh! I didn't even got yer name. I can't be protected from a bug without knowing the hero's name, now can I?"
Smirking, proud of her words as nimble as they might have been, she thought to herself. "This night will maybe get interesting after all."

The small Exile was still slightly cautious about speaking with this stranger. Because he was so young he didn't generally know how to horse-watch, or observe the others in the herd. He didn't have the best memory either so if he had seen Moirragh around, he probably couldn't even recall it. Sometimes he went on rounds with the Captain of the herd and his uncle, Kanu, but other than that he generally stuck to his own family to speak with.
As the mare seemed to drift off in her own thoughts, Kale awkwardly scanned the area, biting his cheek as he raised his eyebrows toward her. Then finally she spoke, her tone seemed stern and as if she didn't really know how to speak to those his age. Which he hated. He wanted to be treated like an adult more than anything, even though he knew 100% that he didn't act or look like one. His parents gave him the satisfaction of treating him like an adult- usually- so he didn't expect others to be so patronizing. Even though this got to him, he was too shy to say anything and decided to simply take it 'like a man'.
"Moi-Mor-Moirar.. Ragh is good." He said, obviously struggling to say the name. He wasn't the best when speaking, but for his age he was fairly understandable. "The... Bug? Oh yeah I can sh-show you!" He exclaimed, a wide smile on his face. He was scared on the inside, the bug wasn't one he wanted to see again, but he wasn't particularly good at saying no to others. He begun bountifully trotting off toward the bush he had been hiding in before looking over his shoulder at Moirragh, "I'm Kale... By the way." He added, motioning for the mare to follow. He was being unusually confident, which generally meant that this mare was one he trusted.

Ragh's nostrils flared with cold air as she followed the tiny but suddendly confident hoofsteps of the young colt leading her. She could focus on this tiny errand of hers, and try to pry her mind away from the current events. The Bachelor herd was becoming more and more hostile -any agreements made between Cael and that... leader of theirs, Cain, seemed to be threading on thin, thin ice.
The Bachelors. One of her utmost fears, being trapped in such a terryfing hierarchy. What if this foal belonged to them? He had been on their 'designated' territory so far, but if Ragh was good at something was at not completely trusting any situation. And this was a strange one indeed... what should she do?
Suddendly, she stopped on her tracks. She wanted to know more about this wee new companion of hers.
'Kale, aren't we gettin' too far from the herd? Were you here on your own, love?'

As Kale continued walking, he looked around pleasantly. The day was a good one in Kale's eyes, despite a war roiling between herds, and the Exile's safety compromised, Kale was oblivious to the darkness that was about to be unfolded upon this Island. To him, this was just a normal day, just like every other one. He stopped as Ragh did, looking back to her with slight concern on his face. "Well the guards are all over there, so I don't think so! My dad is one of the guards who are stationed that way.." He motioned to the distance before him, there were no horses visible, but he wasn't lying when he said that there was guards that way, he kept track of where his father and mother were while on duty, so that if he needed them he'd know where they were.
"Plus, the bush is just here!" He said, his ears pricking and his small body propelling toward it. Once he reached it, he halted to a stop in case a bug happened to fly out and pursue him again.

No way.
Prophet's kid?
She looked left, and then right with a scrunched look on her face, trying to spot anyone at all. What he said, though, she wasn't expecting. Maybe that's why both Prophet and Stormcry had been acting so strange as of late? Assuming 'as of late' meant months or even years. How had she not noticed? She was messing with the Guard's son. You shouldn't have talked to him at all.
The young mare eyed the kid once again. He was returning her gaze, directing her to a frondous, green bush. She approached it and let her nostrils take in the scent of the newly blossomed flowers adorning it. She slowly closed her eyes, sighing. After a few seconds, her golden orbs found the colt again.
"Ain't it funny, Kale?" She spoke with an overly soft tone. "I betcha that bug ye saw earlier was only lookin' for these flowers. Something so ugly and nasty" she stuck her tongue out in a mockingly disgusted way "only tryin' to find somethin' beautiful."
One of her crazy ideas suddendly hit her skull. What about showing the kid how to behave around other creatures? Cut it, you git. You'll only endanger him. And promptly get in trouble with the high authorities.
She smiled.
"Wanna try and find the bug again? I'll show ye something really cool."

Watching the mare with a curious gaze, he flickered his ears toward her. What was she thinking? For a moment she looked almost... Hesitant or reluctant to continue her adventure with Kale, which made Kale momentarily frown to himself until she perked up again. He stepped toward her as she stepped toward the bush, as if he was warning her that it could be dangerous, as if he could help her if she found herself in trouble. He had the tendency to think of himself as an adult, someone who was capable of a wider range of emotions, someone stronger than the average foal. He wanted nothing more than to be treated that way- or to grow up for that matter.
At Moirragh spoke, Kale nodded, his bottom lip being bitten as he played with the thought that the bug may have had innocent intentions all along. But, once the vision of the insect appeared in his mind, he shook his head, his features scrunched up with disgust. "No, no way. That bug was out t-to get me alright." He said, stomping his hoof slightly.
Something cool?
Oh... Kale was always up for something cool.
He nodded, a bright smile on his lips. At the mention of the bug, he cowered slightly, but already this mare had his trust so he figured she'd be there this time to protect him if anything went sideways.
