Desires (Open Role play) 1. Elesette's Pippin 2. Mythical Prancer's Iloue 3. Pony-Bones' Sin 4. Rusticlass 's Xavier 5. Open
There was a whispering in the wind that warned of change. It came on suddenly, and it was as if there was a great hush over the land. Hooves stopped moving, and all heads of the herd turned their heads to the east. Even Pippin stopped moving in his tracks, they all felt it. The feeling that they weren't alone anymore, that something was near. It was almost indescribable, how all of the horses of the herd froze, as if time had stopped. It wasn't long before Valraldic showed his face. He crossed over the rolling hills of the fountain land like a ghost, each step carefully placed. Pippin lowered his head as the great golden-white unicorn passed. No horn would be higher than the great compromiser. He didn't speak as he passed them, just waded into the water and sighed. Something was wrong, very wrong indeed.
Pippin raised his head slowly again after his king had passed, he and the other unicorns around. All of them waited for Valraldic to speak. All of them were quiet, and his words didn't settle those feelings. The chimeric stallion's ears flipped forward in shock. What was this that Valraldic was saying? The wall was broken? Its gate was no longer sealed? He couldn't believe his ears, much less the next words that followed from the Great Compromisers mouth. An apology.
"I'm sorry we've been stuck here for so long, like dogs on the floor"
Pippin was confused. He hadn't been aware he was "stuck" anywhere. This was his home after all, he had been born here. There was never any reason to leave the Crescent. He wanted to comfort the compromiser, but a lowly unseelie like himself had no place in speaking up now.
"Its finally time for Aphelion to rise again, but do not doubt me when I say this. If the gate is open, it can only mean one thing - our most dangerous criminal is on our land, and I doubt she's come alone"
The words haunted Pippin... a dangerous criminal. He hadn't been aware that Aphelion had any of those. Of course there were stories of Baba'Yagu and her successor, Ba'yagu, but as far as he was concerned those had been bedtime stories. Not real. He shuddered, and couldn't believe his actions after the Great Compromiser's next words. He needed a volunteer party to go search the forest of giants, find the wall, and find who had broken the magic seal that had left them seperated from the mortal world for so long.
"I- I'd like to volunteer!" He shouted. He had only been the forest of giants once or twice in his life time. There had been no reason for unicorns to step through the eerie land in the past. It was just another place to explore - but what kind of unicorn would want to be away from their herd? The Outcasts roamed about there, at least that was what had been rumored. Outcasts weren't considered part of the herd though, and Pippin wasn't sure that he wanted to be around such beings. While he had never heard of dangerous criminals within Aphelion, he had most definitely listened to the stories of those who defied the Aphelion law. He couldn't respect such beings - much less be forced to walk with them on the land of giants. He frowned. He had already volunteered, and Pippin realized it was too late to change his mind.
Time passed, and others slowly volunteered to leave the safety of the main Cresent with him, and as night fell upon them, the rain started to fall too. when Valraldic gave the word, the young stallion started off with the small party that had been created. Where their four of them? Six of them? He didn't particularly pay attention as he cantered off in the direction of the forest. They would reach it, and the mysteries it held before morning came again.

"Desires" Iloué | Princess ___________________________
The day had started out like any other, after a long walk with her entrusted guard Xavier along the shores of the Crescent the elegant mare had returned to her place in the herd grazing peacefully. She did not need a visual image of all the herd members freezing in unison for she could feel the cutting edge tension in the air as she instinctively raised her head and did the same. Her highly sensitive curled ears hearing the soft footsteps of her graceful father as he made his way through the crowd, lowering her head with her eyes closed as he passed. The Great Compromiser may have been her family but she held the utmost respect for him all the same and always tried her best to do well in his eyes, though it was difficult at times when she was the descendant of such a widely known and worshipped unicorn. She held no regard for what the unseelies or outcasts spoke of him, she held her father very close to her heart.
Then, there was his sudden announcement that the wall was no longer protecting them from what lurked outside of Aphelion and her ears flicked back in fear of what would come flooding through those gates. What was worse was his apology... Why was a ruler so great apologizing for giving them a safe haven?! This wasn't prison, this was home. This was paradise.
"Father" Iloué spoke gently in reply before his voice rang through her ears again and they focused entirely on his words, particularly the one that stung her somewhere in the back of her mind and gave her an overwhelming sense of danger. Criminal. She had grown up to stories of the disgraced, and the untrustworthy knowing fully well in her heart that they had once formed an immense threat on unicorns and mortals alike but never in a million lifetimes had she expected for the stories to come to life and hit them right on their doorstep.
Volunteers... He had requested volunteers to seek out the very monsters capable of breaking down the entire wall and rupturing the gates that had shielded them. It was surely not fair to request others to place themselves in such great danger? Then... Perhaps the danger was not as great as she had always made it out to be, perhaps on the other side of that very wall stood kind peace loving strangers. It didn't seem very likely but however it was she was sure of one thing: beyond those walls there was a whole other world of scents feelings and individuals she had not memorized yet. Tracks she had not walked, water she had not touched. It was something frightening and exciting all at once and something irked her to go with the group. To step outside of he comfort zone and explore.
As the hour of the search party's departure approached, the young pale mare followed her functioning senses and approached her father making sure to keep an ear peeled should Xavier be on the look out to have a say in the conversation. She did not want two strict stallions contradicting their opinions with hers and perhaps the king would allow her to follow. She was growing into a responsible adult and surely he had to recognize her as such.
"Papa?" She made sure to keep her blind eyes focused on the unidentifiable darkness she knew to be the ground. "I wish to request if I may please accompany the others on their quest. I feel it would do me well to step out of my usual routine... If Aphelion is truly to rise again, should I not be prepared to venture into such areas?" Her tone of voice soft, but well heard. She waited for a response feeling her stomach turn in its place.

Pippin The quiet thudding of the group's hooves had pippin feeling more relaxed. The rhythmic sound was familiar, and the unicorn found it easy to loose himself in the continuous beat. Still, he regretted choosing to volunteer for such a task. It was so unlike him to seek new things, or to seek adventure. He had lived his life complacently on the Crescent and hadn't ever intended that his life would change. How wrong he had been. At least now however, he'd be on the front lines and completely aware of the rest of the world. He wouldn't be surprised again, not if he could help it.
Valraldic: Valraldic watched silently as the small posse gathered together. He wasn't particularly fond of any of the horses that had volunteered, but he supposed it was better the lowly unseelie and seelie horses. Yes, definitely better those he didn't care for, than the important and loved Royals. He was satisfied with the chosen volunteers at least, they weren't likely side with strangers. All but two of them had been born after they had been cut off from the mortal world. They trusted him, and the Unicorn King had no doubts that they would continue to trust him, likely until the day he died. When his daughter approached him, he frowned.
"Iloue.." he started, the grimace still stuck on his aging face. He’d always been rather protective of his daughter, even as she’d grown to be a charming and confident young unicorn. He would not approve of his little princess running off with some lowly seele group he had specifically chosen for their blind faith and his lack of care for them. If something happened out there and they died - good riddance to them. He couldn’t tell Ilou that though, he had to put on the facade that the others would be compeltely safe where they were going for why would a king knowly send his subjects to possible death? He rolled his shoulders before leaving her his retort.
“You simply cannot go, my princess” he stated bluntly, “you’re blind, and how could you possibly make your way around the boulders of the forest of giants?” He felt a pang of guilt and looked away from her. He couldn’t be seeing those large puppy eyes that belonged to her, but he had to make things right before they were wrong. Valraldic sighed out loud, before turning his attention back to the mare and resting his soft chin on her nose. “Iloue, I’m sorry you know I don’t mean that… its just a very big scary world out there, and your Papa can’t bear to see you hurt. More importantly, you’re likely to follow as my hier when I pass… and I need you ready for that. If you’re off with them… I can’t guarantee you’re learning what you must, I love you Iloue”
With that he turned and strode away from his daughter. He wasn’t exactly keen on seeing what he knew would be disappointment on her face. He didn’t have time for that, and besides, he had business to attend to.

One was not to be heard, only to be seen and that was rarely at best. It was better if one did not exist at all, however that Sin did, and it was starting to feel like an eternity. Only a short period of time (in the life of a unicorn) had passed between Valraldic's birth and Sin's, and even less between Sin's and their sister's, and thus Sin was of an age when living had come to be tiresome. One remembered the other islands, though they were a faint memory now, and curiosity stirred in one having heard that the gate was finally open - that Ba'Yagu had come again, and likely not alone. Sin found the nightmarish stories told about the young mare to be rather misleading, but understood that Valraldic had to do what he could to control the population that he was eternally surrounded by, trapped by on their islands. One's concern was not with Ba'Yagu, not directly anyway, however curiosity rose in one and thus Sin silently slipped into the volunteer group, head hung low, long tail low, all but creeping from one's relative's sight before Iloue thankfully served as a distraction.
For so long Sin had crept, moving so methodically and carefully around the herd as to not serve as a bother to anyone. It was rare that an outcast was kept so close, and thus it was not for one to make oneself known, to push the limits of the rules. One's remaining horns were enough of a slap in the face to Sin's brother. To push was not one's place. But now, one didn't need to creep. One could soar along with the rest, hooves pounding against the earth, free but also united. A feeling of being accepted welled in Sin's heart as one felt aligned with the others in the party, reaching a common goal, reaching some place that one had not seen in nearly eons, perhaps. But what would come first? Sin felt a flutter in one's heart at the idea of conflict, though shoved it down silently. One must enjoy the moment, if one was to embrace the rest of life.
The other unicorns were, for the most part, quite a bit younger and thus faster than one could keep up with. Sin's way of life didn't lead to much running and frolicking, and thus one's joints squeaked and cracked slightly, creating a cacophony with the hoofbeats in the ground. Yet it seemed natural, and though the pain was there, it was not unbearable. It was absolutely worth it.

Her blind eyes opened a little wider incredulously when he spoke his blunt reply, striking her a little in a way only he could. But he always found a way to sugar-coat it and make sure he didn't hurt or anger her. However the damage was done, he had said what she hoped he wouldn't and it made her frown a little in disappointment. Why did her blindness have to be the only thing anyone ever saw it her... Such a big and obstructing part of her life as if she was incapable of even thinking of independence.
She heard him sigh then, thinking he was to give in and let her go out of guilt in his own words but it was nothing of the sort. She felt his chin touch her nuzzle and she closed her eyes at the feeling of a father's touch, soothing despite his previous harshness but she could feel her sorrowful emotions overwhelm her as he talked and kept her eyes closed to avoid him noticing. Her ears fell loosely to the side as he finished speaking, trying to understand his point of view but it was ever so difficult when she didn't understand why she couldn't simply take a couple of moments away from learning how to become a leader like him... She had been learning her whole life and surely one break would not mean the end of the world?
As he walked away she turned her head, still low to the ground to the sound of his walking footsteps. "I love you to papa..." she called after him a little. When she could tell he was far away enough for her to move undetected, she tried to smell for the scent of Xavier nearby but luckily he was nowhere to be 'seen'. In swift and elegant silence, she drifted away from the herd and towards the leaving group undetected listening for the voices of those that had volunteered earlier.
"Wait a moment! Excuse my delay, but I will be joining the expedition." She stared into space blindly as she spoke, not addressing anyone in particular with her quiet voice but hoping it projected enough to the group without the other herd members hearing her to alert her father. She would prove to him that she was capable of taking care of herself because surely, this was something also expected of a future heir? Blindness or not.
