" A Relaxing Evening "T h e -- P l o t I n -- T h i s --T h r e a d o1.| Illucid -- clockworko2. Nimh -- sateenkaarisitruuna--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--
Illucid | Loner | Stallion With the sun starting it's descent, Illucid made his way out into the field. He loved the way everything looked at sundown, and for some reason it always seemed so peaceful here. For Illucid, peaceful was normal the opposite of what he was searching for, but he had decided to take some down time. He was quite sore from a recent adventure, and he wanted the chance to just settle down somewhere and have a quiet evening to himself. Of course, living on the East Island made that difficult, with all of the bachelors running around the island, but he was determined now. Though he'd lived here all of his life, he'd never really bothered to come to the fields. He had figured that the large open space would be too dangerous to be in. The last thing he wanted was to run into any Bachelor stallions and start fights. He may have been pretty dim, but he was smart enough to know that he wouldn't be winning any fights against those stallions. Some of them were massive - for instance, Cedrik, whom Illucid considered to be his family. That was probably the only bachelor he'd ever feel safe around. Even so, the young stallion decided to take his chances.
Illucid found a spot at the edge and took a moment to look around. His blue eyes flickered back and forth, searching. As far as he could see, he appeared to be alone. He liked it better that way. Sure, he had gained some friends here and there over the time he had wandered by himself without Slick, but he wasn't sure where they all were, and he didn't have the heart at the moment to search them out. Besides, if he wanted to rest, what was the point in stressing about them? He'd always see them at a later date, so for now, he allowed himself to lay down, settling down into the soft grass and tucking his legs underneath him. He didn't completely relax but instead kept looking around. The grass wasn't high enough to hide him completely, and he didn't want to end up getting chased out by a Bachelor. Overall, it was probably a bad decision to make, to spend the evening here, but he was determined to stay. Sighing, he lowered his head, ears twitching back and forth to pick up any nearby sounds in case someone were to find him. [ my horses got out so I have to go get them :'D - done c: ]

Nimh
It was a beautiful evening indeed. Nimh had come a long way in a span of a couple days and the Summer Fields looked very welcoming. She had spent the most time on this island and it was a little like coming back home. Sure the actual herd residing here was a downside, but Nimh was confident in her ability to survive. She had survived so far. Her large frame was looking much on the thin side since she had not stopped much lately. She only rested and ate as much as she practically had to in order to survive. It had always been a large compulsion in her life; to keep moving. And so she did. She was absolutely certain no one could ever convince to settle down.
She dug her teeth into the lush green grass and continued to lazily move forward while grazing. She rose her head up from time to time and had a look around. While open space was partly terrifying, it was also safe. She'd have time to react before anyone could reach her; no one could lurk up to her unnoticed. Her muscles were toned and powerful, she was sure of where her foot landed and she had a sharp mind. She was fairly well off. Of course an entire party of Bachelor stallions would be a problem, but she'd notice them from afar and run. Even though Nimh was a creature of pride, she knew when it was time to ditch the party and get the hell out of there.
Nimh was feeling relaxed and she didn't notice any company. Until she saw something in the grass, something brown. At first she thought it was just a hare, but then the wind blew the scent to her nose. Some hare alright. She tensed slightly and her whole appearance seemed to grow height just from her gathering herself up. She cleared her throat some, still keeping enough distance. She was happy to have the advantage of standing on her four feet though.
"I can see you."

Illucid | Loner | Messenger--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•-- After laying there for a few minutes, Illucid began to feel more relaxed and and ease. He realized that even if he were to spot someone, he had the speed to tear out of there. Of course, he wasn't the most graceful horse out there, but he'd figure out a way. Besides, what an adrenaline rush that would be! He was addicted, and that would be near impossible to break. He was an adrenaline junky through a wind through. As he layed there, he began to feel restless. Illucid rarely stayed In one spot for a long amount of time, and he was beginning to feel restless. Even if he did stick around, he'd normally be up on his feet. He would be now, had he not beaten himself up with his dumb antics. His body ached with the all too familiar soreness. Honestly, he wasn't even sure he wanted to get up yet anyway. His hooves may have been itching to feel the ground again, but the buckskin was really starting to enjoy himself.
The voice made him flinch, more out of surprise than anything else. Illucid's head shot up, eyes darting straight to the source to assess the intruder. He must have dozed off at one point, for they had gotten pretty close to him. More than he would have liked. The stallion jumped up to all fours and took a beginning step backwards, bright blue eyes looking the mare up and down as he tried to judge her. She couldn't have been too dangerous.. If she had intended on hurting him, she would have had the chance. He had to admit that even some of the Bachelor mares were okay, so he could handle this. The mare was really pretty, with her thick mane and feathered feet. He couldn't recall ever seeing her before though. His memory wasn't all too great to begin with.
" I uh.. " Illucid started, though he wasn't even sure what to say. What did someone say in this situation? He gave his head head a gentle shake, trying to get his forelock to cover up most of his scar as nonchalantly as he could. He hated that scar. Everyone assumed he was was a bachelor. " Well I can see you too, " He struggled to keep from rolling his eyes at that one. Why couldn't he just answer normally?

Nimh
Nimh stood still while the stallion hurried up to his feet. She couldn't help the smirk on her face. Nimh was a teaser by heart and she loved having the upper hand like this. While the stallion had some size, he appeared fairly young and would probably not try to challenge the bulky, fairly tall mare. She wouldn't mind if he tried though, she'd be happy to show a young stallion that one should not underestimate anyone based on gender. She liked giving lessons like that even though she never aimed to really cripple or kill anyone. Excess violence battled against her nature.
Nimh laughed at his words, a hearty, bubbling laugh. Her pale lavender eyes sparkled with amusement.
"Yes, one could assume you do", Nimh replied, a smile still tickling at the corners of her mouths. She knew it was maybe slightly unfair to tease the stallion who seemed to be at unease, but she simply couldn't help herself. Her eyes sweeped over this new stranger, taking small notions here and there. Her eyes did not stop at the scars while she did take a mental note of them. She did assume this was a Bachelor stallion, even though showing unusually little hostility. Nimh didn't judge, she was fairly open-minded about everything. If the stallion would not attempt to get physical, she wouldn't need to either.
"I'm Nimh", she said while she had had enough amusement from the awkwardness. "I don't come in hostile intentions", she then added, to establish a more even ground between the horses.

--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•-- Hearing the mare laugh couldn't keep the smile from Illucid’s face. The young stallion joined in on her chuckling. She probably thought him to be an idiot, but he could care less. There were a lot of things to be called that were a lot worse than that, so he'd take it. Nonetheless, she seemed to have gotten a kick out of it.
Nimh, as he soon learned she was called, had also seemed to assume that he indeed was a bachelor. Something about hostility or whatever? To be honest, he'd hardly been listening in the first place. He'd caught her name and that was all he needed. As soon as words like that came into play, Illucid blocked them. He was clever, but not enough to have such an expansive vocabulary.. Or at least one with anything to do with bachelors. Ears flicking back, Illucid had to shake his head. " I guess that's a relief? " he ventured. He'd already embarrassed himself, and he didn't think he could do much worse. " I also have no intentions of.. " His small vocabulary then failed him. " Well whatever those Bachelors do. I have no idea. " Exasperated with himself, Illucid huffed. Some charmer he could be. This was why he couldn't have nice things.
" My name is Illucid, " the stallion then told her. He slowly shifted his weight, trying to find a comfortable position without really getting too comfortable. Letting his guard down at this point wasn't an option. For all he knew, she could be some sort of spy, or a trap to get him captured. Though why they'd be after a stallion was beyond him. " Are you a Bachelor mare? " he asked. He always felt strange asking that, even if he rarely ever did. Was it rude? Illucid didn't know too many things about manners. He just hoped she wouldn't that that too offensively.

Nimh was delighted that the young stallion would join in her laugh. What was there not to laugh about? Life wasn't such a grave matter.
She listened to the buckskin, he seemed to somewhat struggle with his words. Nimh didn't mind that though, while she was a helpless teaser, she didn't want to be cruel. At least he wasn't a Bachelor, Nimh gathered. Not that such a young stallion could have really done much to the large draft mare. If she was to sit her large draft butt to ground, that would be the end of any michievious plans of taking her hostage. It would have been amusing to see someone try, though. Nimh barely could not chuckle to the idea.
She took notice of the name. Illucid. Hmm, very well then. She was a tad bit surprised by his question. Did she act like one? Weren't the mares supposed to be like extremely submissive and afraid of stallions? She was certainly neither, not one bit. "No, I'm certainly not", she said with a slight grin. "I'm a Loner, I come and go as I please", she continued. She did. She didn't understand horses that agreed to be tied down for their entire lives, serving for purposes they probably didn't even understand. It was sad. No matter what they told themselves, they were slaves.
"Do you live here?" she then asked, in an attempt to continue some sort of conversation. Illucid seemed a bit awkward to her and something in her was compelled to try and ease his difficult stance. Maybe it was some motherly instinct, even though Nimh had no foals of her own and the stallion was no longer a little foal. Didn't matter to her.

--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--
The young stallion gave a short nod, relieved to hear that she wasn't a Bachelor. This gave him room to relax even further, even cocking a back leg. His ears continued to flick back and forth, but that was a habit he learned as a loner. You always had to be on alert, even if you were with someone trustworthy. Over his short life, he'd learned many things, one of which being that you couldn't trust anyone. Still, that didn't mean he couldn't enjoy himself with friends every now and then. Illucid didn't like becoming close with anyone in the first place - he'd become obsessive and jealous, and that would lead into things he never wanted to visit again. He smiled small, looking back to the mare. " I don't understand how anyone could live in a herd, " he admitted. " Especially the Bachelors. "
His head shook then. " No, I don't live here, " replied Illucid. Technically, he didn't live anywhere at all. Being a loner meant that he was free to go anywhere he wanted. Did he have a preferred place to be? Yes. But nothing was really considered 'home'. His birthplace was the East Island, and he had lived here for the majority of his life so far, but after learning of the Bachelor ways he wasn't sure if he was comfortable calling this his home. " I mean, I don't live anywhere, really. " He loved to travel and had gotten to visit the Olde Island so far. He had really enjoyed the city, but something about the East had brought him home. If he had another chance, he would definitely be going to the Southern Isle to explore the charred lands. Bringing himself back, Illucid heaved a sigh. He had become a little more comfortable now, but he didn't like being out in the open. His favorite place to be was up in the Riddle Mountains, where he hardly came across anyone. Feeling the breeze teasingly tug his mane was nerve wracking. " Do you have a favorite place to be? "

Nimh rested a back leg, mirroring the stallion slightly. She didn't want to make him uncomfortable more than he was, she was afterall a peace loving creature with a big heart. She thought the awkward young horse was cute, and even though their age difference surely wasn't that large, she somehow felt ancient. Some stronger force only knew the difficulties she had had to endure, and some innocent-seeming part of the stallion tapped into the more protective side of her. Not that she'd really go to large lenghts for a complete stranger, but she wasn't viewing him as an opponent either.
She shook her head at Illucid's words. "Mmh, I could never settle down. But then again that's all those horses know about. Kinda sad", she replied her thoughts. The herd members often felt like they had the upper hand; which they in a way did. Numbers brought power. But Nimh would never stop feeling sorry for them, for their lacking world of order. Nimh enjoyed chaos; she threw herself at it and loved every second of it. She could never know what the next day might bring or if it would be her last one; she had made sure she remembered that every single day. There was no room for regrets and what ifs, life was here and now; it was wonderful.
Nimh simply nodded at Illucid's word about home. She was so used to being a nomad and other horses having more stationary lives she had sort of assumed that this horse would be no different. "I like many places, I especially love the sea so anything around the shore is pretty much my favourite", she said smiling. The sea was so free, so untameable. Nimh felt great kinship to the sea, as funny as it might sound. "And you? Where do you like to be?" she then returned the question. She thought it was an interesting tap to the inside of someone's mind, their favourite place. She wondered what others thought of her, when she mentioned the sea.

Illucid could merely nod as he listened to the mare speak about the herds and the like. It had interested him for about two seconds, but now it bored him. The buckskin wasn't big into herds or their politics and all the details. As much as he respected the mare for her words, he felt he could no longer follow them and tried his best to look attentive. It made him feel awful. Not that Nimh had held him any speech ( a whole line or two at the most, really ) - Illucid liked to blow things out of the water. It had felt like an eternity.
His attention was snapped back at the mention of the ocean. Ears perking, Illucid's blue eyes lit up. They'd finally found something in common. "I like the ocean as well. Of course there are other places I wouldn't mind being, but if I had to choose, it would definitely be there. My favorite thing to do is jump off the cliffs into the water," said Illucid with a wild grin. Now he found something remotely delightful to jab about. Most others got a kick out of hearing about his favorite past time, and each of their reactions was always unique. The buckskin loved watching to see the new expressions each and every time he told the stories. "Do you swim or is it just the water itself that you like?" he asked then, half attempting to keep something going. He really was terrible at keeping up a decent conversation.

Nimh could tell the young stallion was no longer interested, even though he had started the topic himself. She felt a bit awkward and her lavender eyes scouted the surroundings, considering if she should just leave him to his own devices. Nimh wasn't really one to push herself to anyone, she was content with being alone as well and she was somewhat of an introvert; it took energy to interact with others. And if they were not interested, Nimh felt it was meaningless to spend her energy. It was quite offensive actually.
She did postpone her plan on leaving when the stallion showed interest towards the sea. Sea was a huge part of Nimh; she absolutely loved it. She was wary, however, because if the stallion chose not to be interested in this subject either even though he initiated it, it would simply be too much for her. It was a bit of a childish attitude from Nimh, really, but she felt so strongly about it that she just couldn't stand it. Her impulsiveness might have been from being a mare; she usually wasn't very mareish. But she did change moods swiftly at times.
Nimh thought about jumping into the sea. It was a bit of a wild thought; she wouldn't do it herself. Then again she was much heavier, and sinking in was somewhat terrifying to her. She would never admit it though; she wasn't a coward. If confronted about it she would just claim to be too lady to do it, even though that was not the truth.
"Yes, I swim. A little thing I learned from the Witch Ba'Yagu", she answered, a slittle smile tugging at her lips. It had been a wonderful day, learning she could actually swim for longer distances. Eventually she could just ignore landbridges and cross wherever she wanted. She couldn't wait to be that experienced. "You can swim too?" she then countered. From what she had gathered, most horses could swim a little bit, but not go for long distances like she could.

--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•--•-- Suddenly, Illucid's attention seemed to have been captured. It had taken awhile, but the two had eventually found something decently interested ( in Illucid's opinion ) to talk about. While the ocean may not have been his favorite thing, it was still something to talk about. At the mention of Ba'Yagu, his ears flicked forward. That was certainly an attention grabber. He hadn't had the honor of meeting her personally, but he had heard a lot about her. Some things were good, but many of the others were little foal's tales. Illucid didn't believe them, and he couldn't say he believed anything else that the others had told him about her in general. He always got different stories; it was hard to decide which were true. Shaking his head, Illucid replied, " That's really cool. I've never met Ba'Yagu before. " He considered asking the mare what she was like but decided against it. He'd probably be subjected to a long story of nothing but more lies to add to his book. Eventually, though, he would have loved to meet her. The thought of getting his gift was exciting.. hopefully she had something for him.
Lips tugging into a small smile, Illucid nodded. " I can swim.. not very well, but enough to get me here and there. " Truth be told, the young appaloosa was a horrid swimmer. He'd nearly drowned on multiple occasions, but just having that adrenaline rush was enough to make him do it over and over again. Sure, he was an idiot for risking his life, but that was the only way he could get through the day. Sometimes the pain of his emotions was too much to handle. That was why he did those stupid things, risking his life every single time. The physical pain outweighed the emotional, and he could once again sleep soundly and live another day. He didn't have too many friends, if any at all, so this was his way to cope. Not a very good one, but what else could he do? Although he enjoyed this topic much more than the one previously, he felt himself drifting once more. He wasn't normally the type to stand around and just talk. Glancing back at the mare, shifting his weight onto his other side, Illucid asked, " Would you be interested in heading towards the ocean? I'd love to see what swimming ability Ba'Yagu gave you. Maybe you can give me some pointers? "
