"When I See You Again..."
The private roleplay between Maori & Sevastyan Taking place just after objective five, somewhere in between the borders of the temporary Exile territory. ..............................................................
MAORI | EXILE | MEDIC
The journey back to their previous home had been carved freshly into her memory. She hadn't been that sure about traveling back; lands weren't able to recover so fast after such a devastating fire, but she had trusted in their leader and the fact that she went with them had soothed her.
And even though it wasn't Khala's fault, everything went haywire when they finally were there. There hadn't been a moment of piece, being it the Bachelors to raid their piece at first and after that being the horrible Quiver Back that smelled fresh flesh. Thinking back to the event ran a shiver down her spine. She snorted and shook her head and neck, trying to shake of the thought about the fresh happened event.
With her hind quarters she leaned against her tree; a big willow tree that stood at the side of a river crossing their temporary lands' territory. The wind lifted up her curly hair for a moment, but when she turned her head to look at the horizon her forelock fell back into place. She snorted softly, lost in the sight of the beautiful landscape. How could an island be so beautiful, and have such ugly characters living on it? She couldn't understand a thing about it, but her mind drove away just like the clouds did in the sky. She was a dreamer and spend most of her free time just lingering in the shadows of the Exiles, or wandering away in her mind while she stood in her spot under the big weeping willow tree.
Could there be a way they could've escaped the Quiver Back, without so many of their company getting hurt? It was a question she still asked herself, while she knew there wasn't a thing she could change about something that already happened. But she knew something like that could happen again, especially if they would travel back to the Southern Isle for more aiding of the land. She wanted to be prepared, so badly, even though she knew she probably never would be.

Sev's forced his hooves to meander along, unsure of where he was going, just going somewhere. It was morning, and Sev had woken up too early and hadn't slept well anyway. He was tired and mildly irritated. He looked around to the west and the breeze blew his forelock in his face. Rolling his eyes at nature itself, he tossed his mane out of his face. Judging by the doomsday feeling in the back of his mind, Sev could tell it would be an off day.
Scowling at the world, he dipped his head down to forage. Putting food in his stomach seemed to lighten his mood a bit, and he felt the pressure of the on-coming anxiety attack lighten. He closed his eyes and let his mind wander. Off it went, to the other day, when he met the Bachelors personally for the first time. Of course he had seen them, but talked to them? Never before that day. Sev suddenly raised his head. The pressure was back and he could feel the soft whisper of terror in the back of his mind.
"No. No. Not right now, another time!" Eyes wide he scoped the place for somebody, anybody to talk to.
He needed desperately to engage his mind or else he would fall into another anxiety attack. Boom. He spotted Maori leaning thoughtfully against a willow tree. He shook his head violently to try and rid the fear from himself. Trotting up to her from behind, Sev bit his lip nervously.
"Hey!" Was the only thing he could think to say at the moment.

The longer she stared in the distance as if she was looking to the beautiful horizon with the upcoming sun, the more she drifted away in her thoughts. About the Quiver Back, about the days before their return the the Southern Isle. Everything brought back so many memories and brought more worry than already troubled her in the back of her mind.
All of a sudden she could hear the beating of hooves to the ground and before she could realize someone was approaching her, Sev already made his appearance. She startled from it being so sudden, shooting a step forward, but when she heard his voice and her one good, golden eye found him she settled down again and smiled towards him.
''Hey,'' she said, her voice soft and a bit dreamy, just like the twinkle in her eyes were still as dreamy as she had been a few seconds ago. As if she had to wake up from her memories. She observed him for a second and saw how tense his body was. It made her think back to the other day, when she'd first met him on the Southern Isle. She could only guess he had some sort of anxiety, just like he had back than, just because of the tensity that was -in her eyes- the same as than. But she decided to not ask him about it.
She softly snorted while she looked him in his emerald green eyes, that had intrigued her from the first moment she'd met him. There were not that many horses that had the pride to cary green in their eyes.
''I was just about to go for a walk,'' she started, with that same soft smile carried on her elegant, slim face. ''If you want you could join me?'' She was happy she could ask him to join her. She enjoyed his company back on the Southern Isle and had no doubt she would enjoy it now that they were back on more familiar, safer soil.

At her soft reply, Sevastyan felt the terrors go away. He lowered his head and slowly blinked at her. The dreaminess in her voice had that effect on him. He gave out a sigh of relief and grinned, white teeth gleaming. He still had the vague sense of doom in the back of his mind, the the more she looked into his intense green eyes, the more the feeling subsided. Sheepishly, he looked at his hooves, occasionally peering through his forelock at her.
At her jubilant invitation, he gave her a playful wink. "Well, of course miss!" He chuckled. Then he became confused at himself. Sevastyan doesn't play, nor is he confident... At least that's what he thought about his personality. He slicked his ears back in thought, trying to get a hold of himself. He furrowed his brow, and frowned at himself.
"That was weird.." He whispered to himself.
Remembering about Maori's presence, he turned to her. "So, do you usually go for a morning walk... is it some while?" Then he laughed, realizing he's not even making sense. "I mean, or is it something you do every once in a while?" He stuck his tongue out awkwardly. Conversations weren't really his 'talent', you could say.

The weather played with her curls, making them dance every time the wind tickled along the coat of her neck. She enjoyed mornings so much. The moment the sun finally came and chased her nightmares away. It made her realize she was stil on earth, rather than being in some dark place, all alone. No, she didn't like night time at all, but there was nothing to do about it. Only thing it did was making her love the mornings.
Again, her mind had been dreaming off, but when she looked at him she was back on earth again. The good earth, so to speak. The earth she enjoyed staying on. The smile on her face grew when he said he would of course join her on her walk, maybe even a bit of a shy look on her face when he winked at her. She was easily set off her feet by the charmes of a stallion and even though he probably wasn't even aware of doing so, he had that effect on her. Happily she lifted her head, her curly ears turned forward and with that the lightened tips almost touching each other.
She made a frisk step forward and with that a step closer to him, which she didn't realize until she looked him back in the eye. She smiled a bit bashfully, but than she set a few other steps, starting the walk she had just talked about.
She smiled again at his words and nodded when he said them again to make more sense. ''I love walking. Or actually it is more wandering... I've spend all of my younger years adventuring over the isles with my mom and with those walks I do daily I try to taste that kind of freedom again,'' she said, as she looked back to him over her shoulder and held her steps in for a moment so he could catch up with her. Still, the smile was stuck on her face and she herself didn't even realize, a twinkle in her golden, and in her one, covered blue eye.

Still reeling from his weird stunt he watched as she looked at him shyly. Her warm colored eye made him feel... well... a little silly when it met his green ones. Quite a peculiar sensation. It felt like the sun was shining inside of him, warming him from the inside out, giving off a glow. He liked it, none-the-less.
With Maori's step towards him, Sev took an equal step back. His jaw was dropped and his eyes alit like big green orbs. She met him with a bashful smile, and he felt his cheeks burn. Then, just like that she continued on her way. An interested grin graced his face as his head stretched out toward the sooty mare. He came up by her side and listened to her answer. Her smile was quite charming, gentle as it was. She looked so... Well nevermind, Sev thought, what else is there to say?
"I see... Your mom sounds fun..." Sev thought back to his own mother, the weakling that never protected him from his father. The thought made him snort angrily. He self-consciously looked back at her. "Sorry, I didn't mean to sound... well, mean. I was thinking of something else, er.. uh, someone else."

When he met her again and walked next to her, a warm blush filled her body from tip to toe. She didn't really realized until now that she felt incredibly comfortable next to him. Comfortable in a way she hasn't felt in a long, long time. She somehow surprised herself with the feeling. She was aware of the fact that she was an easy lover at that, but normally it were just loads of butterflies that set her mind off and made her do things she'd regret later. But this was different. She felt like she could completely be herself net to him, being as comfortable as she could be, while at the same time she wanted to be her best self she could be.
A smile with a hint of sadness appeared on her face when he mentioned that her mom sounded like fun. ''She was fun, always and everywhere,'' she said it a bit softer, but tried to shake of the feeling that crawled through her. This wasn't the time to mourn about her mother that died ten years ago. It still hurt though; losing her mom in one of the most important stages of her life. She'd felt so lost...
When she heard his angry snort, she snapped out of her thoughts. Suddenly she felt as if she had done something wrong. Had she looked at him the wrong way? Said something wrong when she was dreaming away again? But when she focussed her gaze back to him, and looked him into his emerald green eyes, she relaxed again. And than he spoke, taking away any panic she'd just felt. ''Don't feel sorry,'' she said, moving her nose sideways to him and touching his neck for a split second. She smiled. ''We all have memories that sometimes take the better of us,'' she spoke more softer as she looked forward. For a moment her stomach started to turn and twist; feeling as if she had just swallowed a brick. She tried to swallow it, but it wouldn't work. Instead she led go of quite a heavy sigh and with that she sorta lost the stress and that one memory that still haunted her till this day. When she realized she was being a bit awkward, maybe even looking a bit panicky or reserved, she turned her gaze back towards him and smiled. She felt so stupid, sometimes...
It was only now that she noticed the forest that had been in the distance, was slowly coming by as they walked. It was one of the thicker forests, the one she usually didn't bump into people in. It was one of the routes she took more often, it being a getaway of the pulling herd life she still didn't quite felt like she could fit in.
''I love the forest.'' It sounded a bit out of nowhere, but she didn't mind. She would've probably started a conversation about literally anything to make her mind go silent, if only for a short while. ''It's so peaceful and mysterious.'' And it was good for running all the energy out of your body, running till your legs couldn't carry you no more, trying to run from things that weren't chasing her, but were a part of her. But she decided to leave that part out. ''What is the place in Chevalin you most enjoy?'' She asked him, curiously. It was only now that same happy twinkle had returned in her eyes, instead of the worrying one that had replaced it minutes ago.

At Maori's guilty expression, Sevastyan cringed like he'd been shot in the leg. He looked at her sorrowfully, and she calmed down considerably. Her next words were soothing, and he wasn't sure if they soothed him or her more. Her soft dainty nose brushed his arched neck for half a second, however it was still long enough to make his heart catch in his throat. So, he just smiled and nodded, not unlike a foal who had been ordered by its sire to do something.
"I love the forest. It's so peaceful and mysterious. What is the place in Chevalin you most enjoy?" Maori asked, maybe a bit randomly.
It snapped Sev back into reality, anyway. He noticed the woods before him, with all the splendour and magic of children's stories. Then he realized something. He had never thought about his favourite place in Chevalin. It was always anywhere but his least favourite place. Thoughtfully, he furrowed his brow and ground his teeth.
"Well... I don't know." Sev started a bit tentatively. "I.. uhh... Don't really think about those things. But, you know, maybe I should!" Sev finished it off with an amused giggle.
As they entered the forest, Sev's ears swiveled back and forth, taking in the sounds. Birds called to and fro at each other, and distantly there was the slight sound of small animals running about. He closed his eyes, letting the sound of Maori's light footfalls guide him.

With her every few steps she swung her tail from left to right, sometimes, when her steps made her a bit closer to him, she touched his side with the curly tips of her locks. She smiled at his words. She loved how he just went with whatever she asked him, even when it was so randomly and out of nowhere. It calmed her, it soothed her. It made her feel as if she did not have to worry about everything all the time. And especially that made her incredibly happy. As he talked to her, giving her his answer, she looked at him. And when she did, that dreamy twinkle returned in her eye, as if she drowned in her emerald eyes as he talked. He was so comforting, so soothing, just because he didn't try to impress her. He was just being himself, which made her feel like she could be herself too.
As she noticed she was glaring at him while she dreamed away, she suddenly snapped out of it. She smiled a bit shyly, looking forward now instead of sideways. She didn't know how to handle herself, now that it was she herself that made her fall for a stallion, instead of it being the charmes of one that caught her for a few days. She might be an easy lover, she wasn't an easy one to keep.
''Thinking about all the pretty places I've been to always makes me calm down. It's as if I can dream away to being there again, being carefree, not having to worry,'' she spoke honestly, a bit surprised by herself. Did she really wanted to go that honest and open towards him? she asked herself for a moment. But than that worry also drifted away. She had the feeling she could say anything to him, as if she could trust him.
''The Silver Woods are my favorite out there. It's so pretty there, and so peaceful,'' she said with a dreamy tone to her voice, and a happy smile to her fragile, slim face. The forest was slowly consuming them, leaving the horizon and the herd behind, being surrounded by trees, and trees only. She could hear the birds sing above them, she could hear them fly from branch to branch, and how they landed on every one of them as they did. It was just nature that made her feel so at home, not so much as the whole system of a herd did. It sometimes harmed more, than it healed.
As her mind was slowly drifting away again, so at ease with having him at her side, she suddenly thought about something again. ''There is a beautiful lake in the middle of this forest. It's hidden away between trees and bushes. I can show you, if you want?'' she asked as she looked sideways happily. Her whole body language was different here. So different from when she was surrounded by the herd, or when they had met on the Southern Isle, there where ashes covered their homeland's grounds. She was more... herself.

Sevastyan walked along side this small mare, and she walked along side him, and somehow... it wasn't awkward. Her soft tendrils brushed up against his large burn scar. He remembered very clearly how he had gotten it. His thoughts went to that day, the day when it all changed for him, equally for the better and worse.
He was running, and running, and running, faster than he knew how. The forest above him was all crashing down in a fiery turmoil. He could still hear his father, Pyotr, screaming a delusional plea to be saved in the distance. Sev, however, only ran towards the landbridge. He gave his head a violent shake to expel the yelling from his ears. In turn, the fire's roar grew louder and louder. Disorientation was creeping up on him as he became surrounded with flames. He turned around and around, trying to find a way out. There. A small break in the fiery trees offered escape. He jumped threw it, but his left hindquarter rubbed up against a tree turned to a twenty foot pillar of hot coals. The pain was so intense he threatened to pass out...
"I can show you, if you want?" Maori's inquiring voice brought him back to the forest they were currently in, the forest not ablaze and wiping out life.
"Show me what?" Sev asked a little confused. He stared at her, concentrating on her gold eye. He felt terrible because he realized she has probably been telling him a bunch of stuff that was important to her, and he was flashbacking to his past. How selfish of him! Bashfully, he flashed Maori a guilty smile.

She hadn't seen him doze off, but now that she read the confusion in his eyes, she saw that he somehow missed what she just told him. ''A lake,'' she said, after a short giggle at his bashful, guilty smile. ''A beautiful lake,'' she corrected herself. She smiled at him, as she observed his eyes and his face for a moment. She was still as intrigued as she was when she just met him. The darkish, but warm brown, that almost looked like black when there didn't shown any sun on it. And then his emerald green eyes, shining as orbs in the darkness. ''It's hidden in the thicker part of the forest, where the trees grow closer to each other.'' Even though she tried to focus, her voice had that dreamy tone again. Again she was dozing off in his beautiful, emerald eyes, and as she corrected herself she snorted softly, smiling back at him.
She let the question float through her mind for a second, but than decided to ask him anyway. ''What were you thinking off?'' A hint of curiosity in her warm, soft voice, but also insecurity, and somehow even a little concern. As she turned her head back to him again, after looking forward shortly, the curls of her forelock shove out of their place. She could feel the dazzling sunlight that shown through the curly locks shine in her fragile, bright blue eye, but she knew it was still covered. Not so much as she wanted, but she was more focussed on him that on herself at that point.
Her golden eye was questioning and curious, but somehow had a careful glaze too. ''You don't have to say it, if you don't want to,'' she softly said. She felt a bit uncomfortable asking him, because she knew how hard he had it dealing with his past, guessing that was where his anxieties where coming from. As she turned her gaze away to the distance again, to there where the trees grew thicker and so did their leaves, she noticed they were entering the forest deeper and deeper and the sounds of the open fields and accompany of horses was already long gone.

"Oh, okay. A lake." Sev chuckled. "Sounds fun!"
He followed her eye as it looked him up and down. She stared at him right in the eyes with a somewhat dreamy, if not blank expression. His head tilted, not sure what to do. He ended up just smiling and looking up to the trees in order to avoid eye contact, but couldn't resist peeking down at Maori every once in a while. She was rather silly, but Sevastyan thought it was charming. To him she was an adorable little mare with big hair and strange ways. None-the-less, he felt radiance bouncing off her, making him shine whenever she was near.
When she inquired as to what he was thing of, it caught him off guard. He caught her curious gaze with both eyes this time. Her blind eye was barely visible under her curly mass of hair, and he wondered why she tried to keep it hidden. It only adds character, and really, doesn't even look bad. Mares are like that, he supposed. They don't like being imperfect, but the strange thing is, everyone has a blemish of some sort. Sev just didn't get mares and there mare-ish ways. The thought made him giggle.
"You don't have to say it, if you don't want to," Maori's soft voice coaxed him out of his thoughts.
"No, it's okay." Sev replied, starting a chuckle. "You seem trustworthy enough." His face grew more serious. "When you brushed up against my burn scar, it made me think of when I earned it. It was... well... very painful to say the least. As you may have guessed, it's from the fires." Taking on a more cheerful tone, Sev continued. "But, it doesn't matter. Let's look at that beautiful lake, shall we?"

"You seem trustworthy enough."
She smiled without looking sideways. It somehow made her a bit shy, but she couldn't really place why. Her eyes observed the forest for a minute, making sure they were walking the right way. She could exactly remember how they had to walk to find the lake. Certain trees, rare bushes or flowers, they all guided her the way. When he spoke again, she looked sideways to him. She turned her ears backwards for a little, feeling sad about what had happened to him. She herself had been able to get away so damn easily and hadn't got a single scratch from the fire, aside from being mentally traumatized for fire the rest of her life. But she never got such big wounds as he did and she could only imagine how such a big burn could hurt.
''I'm so sorry about that,'' she softly said, but before she could get on with the negativity, he picked up on a more cheerful subject. Looking back at him again she smiled, turning her ears back forward. He was right, it made no sense to talk about bad memories now. Bad memories. She snorted softly and than went on with the happy, cheerful tone he had settled on. ''Just follow me,'' she said playfully, as she took off in a trotting pace, but jumped off in gallop as soon as she jumped off the path an over the bushes, entering the thicker part of the forest. From the path you couldn't see a thing and you'd expect there to be only trees, but Maori knew better. She zigzagged through the trees, jumping over the bushes that came in her way. She might've been not the fastest horse, but she sure was agile.
With a last jump over a bush, in between two trees, she disappeared between the leaves. While from her, on the other side, appeared the beautiful lake. The water being a deep seagreen, but so clear, covered with patches of lilies. She smiled as she looked over her shoulder, where she'd left Sev behind to come and follow her. ''I'm here,'' her voice sang, echoing between the trees and it's leaves.

Maori's playful command rang in Sev's ears. He watched as she vanished from his sight, among the bushes. The energy was welling up inside him and after a bit of brisk walking after her, he couldn't contain it. Breaking out into a canter, he playfully switched leads as he started gaining ground. He followed her winding, and seemingly invisible path. Bouncing off trees and dirt to clear tight corners, he continued until the forest eventually came to an end. He slid into a stop at the last of the foliage and snorted in amazement. There he stood in the bushes at the forest's end looking in wonder at the sight before him.
"I'm here." said she.
"Here." Was his reply.
It was beautiful. The lake's crystal waters glistened with ecstasy. He'd almost forgotten how much he loved to play in the water, but the sight of the lake was irresistible. Without hesitation he sprang into a gallop, flying past Maori. At the lazily splashing water's edge he catapulted himself into it. He held his breath as the cool water engulfed his body. It felt great! The roar of water rushed in his ears and he opened his eyes under the surface. Fresh water weeds danced in the waves and small schools of fish darted out of his way in fright. He stayed down a bit longer to observe, but after a minute or so came to the surface. He didn't want Maori to think he was drowning, after all. His head popped out of the water so that only his eyes, ears and nostrils were visible. Giving a big blow of air, he continued to breathe. His big green eyes looked at Maori playfully. He tipped his head back so he could speak without swallowing water.
"Hi Maori!" Sev said with a goofy grin. "I forgot to tell you, but I love to swim!"

As she ran, she saw how he followed her. First behind her, jumping where she jumped, but it were only a few seconds before he catched up on her with his much longer, athletic legs and took the lead. A smile decorated her elegant face, her eyes twinkling in the joy she felt now that she could finally stretch her legs and forget about everything. She even forgot her forelock that blew out of her face, waving behind her in the wind. She just followed him, sometimes behind, sometimes next to him, jumping over bushes and averting every tree that came in her way. It felt too soon to arrive at the lake, but the sight was as beautiful as she could remember. The little spots of sun that came through the trees glimmered on the greenish water. It was just in the middle of an open spot in the forest, covered from every creature that would walk along. It was as if they had just found an hided room, hidden from everyone that didn't exactly knew where to find it.
He was gone for what was just a second and as she called for him with saying she was here, so did he. She turned her head to where the sound was coming from, her hooves sinking just a little in the mossy ground beneath her slim body. But just as she heard his strong, confident voice -something she hadn't really heard from him before- he flew by her at full speed, stretching out his body as he jumped off the small lake's banks. She covered her eyes as she saw him hitting the surface and felt how the water that he launched spat up against her body. She giggled as she looked back to him. She'd never seen him before - he was so different from when she met him on the ashy, death plaines. And the more she got to know him, the more she enjoyed his company.
As she opened both her eyes again -the one blind eye no longer covered, the locks of her forelock wildly spread over her face- she couldn't find him at first. All she saw in the water were bubbles, there was literally no sight of him. She frowned for a moment, but just as she started to worry, he came back to the surface again. Immediately there was that happy smile on her face again as she watched him. She set a few steps closer to the bank, to the point her hooves almost touched the water. She lowered her head a little as she watched him, only seeing his ears, his eyes and nostrils just above water.
She couldn't help but laugh softly as he popped his full head back out of the water, the clear subtance dripping all from his face. His coat was even darker now that it was all wet.
"I forgot to tell you, but I love to swim!"
She smiled at his words and doubted for a moment, looking at the water in front of her hooves, but than she stepped forward and let her body sink into the water, much more subtile than he had done. Her curly tail wading at the surface behind her as she walked towards him. She was faster close to him than she'd thought, but with a little distance of him she stopped and just stood there, enjoying the water cooling her body off from tip to toe. ''I'm so glad I showed you than,'' she said happily as she was now close to him, only a step away. She lowered her head a little, laying it on top of the surface just like her tail did behind her. She watched him with her both her eyes now, not caring anymore about the scar over her left eye. She just hoped he wouldn't think something off it, but she was pretty sure he wasn't as shallow as some colts had been in the past. She had to look up to him, but she didn't care really. His emerald green eyes reflecting the shimmering of the water, and there was that dreamy look of hers again. She smiled, feeling how the water touched her nose. ''That we have in common than. All though I loved swimming here alone, I enjoy it just as much with you here'' she said as she blew water away from her nose, lifting her head a little so she could breath again, without getting water in the way. She smiled up to him.
