"A Deer Caught In Headlights"
Participants: MythicalPrancer with Ryuko Cat-whiskerss with Rylynn
Location: The Summer Fields
Time/Weather: Early Evening / Cool and breezy
Plot: While aimlessly staring around the herd one evening, Rylynn stumbles upon a rather handsome stallion and she can't help but stare, but after daydreaming for too long, the stallion catches sight of the brood staring at him and decides to wander over and question the now embarrassed mare.
(Can be adjusted as the roleplay continues)
It was late in the day, a blanket of cool air settling over the vast lands as the evening encroached. Soon the once blue sky would fade into shades of oranges and pinks before slipping into a dark, navy blue, dotted with twinkling stars. Rylynn, a grullo paint mare, was grazing amongst a small group of other mares, her ivory mane and tail gently swaying as a breeze rippled throughout the herd. Her posture was relaxed and her ears occasionally flicked at the sound of birds and the soft murmur of horses. All was at ease, and the mare didn't expect anything more than this to happen, after all, being a brood wasn't always the most exciting thing to be.
It was only when an unfamiliar voice sounded not far off did the mare raise her head and glance around. Who was that? She pondered, her ears twitching slightly. Rylynn was now curious. Who was that? Certainly it wasn't a newly made Bachelor, she would've noticed the new face. Or perhaps there was? Or the brood was more oblivious than she thought.
Gazing around with focused, blue eyes, Rylynn paused at a certain stallion. He looked familiar, but she didn't know his name. Nor his voice. She had seen him around the herd once or twice, and she believed he was a Scavenger, but she had never really bothered to pay much attention to the brutes. His redish-bay coat stood out to her, and she inwardly admired the stallions lean and athletic build.

It had been quite a nice day so far, Ryuko had focused on his training and was all done for the day. He made a note of completing his routine stretches as a nice breeze bristeled through his fiery red coat. The whole herd seemed to have settled down into a calmer mindset this evening, and it was probably because the cool weather provided a relaxing relief from the day's warm sun. His gaze went up to the evening sky as his mind wandered to the past, before he had gotten his mind set on becoming a bachelor warrior. How different he had been then, so naive and ignorant to the ways of the world until he had learnt a few cruel lessons to really wake him up. It had helped him understand how foolish it was to blindly trust others and further confirmed his motto that nothing in life is handed to you easily. You had to work though blood, sweat, and tears to acheive anything. Nothing was more true for the bachelor herd. Especially as one who was not born here, it had been a long journey for him to earn any amount of respect. He had quickly learnt that all those games and races and spars he won in his time with the Exiles, truly meant nothing. He may have been the strongest, fastest and one of the most dedicated athletes in his age group there but here... There was always someone smarter, more capable, or more experience to push him into wanting to improve himself. His cocky attitude in the beginning, had quickly dissipated with discipline and hard work. That's how the world worked and even then, you were bound to get kicked down and have others take away things that matter.
Usually, Ryuko didn't pay much attention to the rest of the herd when he was going about his day to day life unless someone approached him directly. However, as his mind slowly came back to the current time his eyes noticed a figure looking at him through the corner of his vision. He lowered his head from the lifted position his muzzle had been in, and he turned his face to look at her through crimson eyes. It was clear that she had been staring at him and he usually attempted to move along and ignore it whenever it happened. Though today, the stallion was feeling quite social as he slowly moved to approach the mare. He hadn't spoken with her before and he wondered if his phisique was what caused her to stare for so long. "Hey" he greeted, coming to a halt in front of her and glancing her over briefly.

Rylynn couldn't help but stare for a moment longer, feeling as if she had been put in a undying trance by the stallion's physique, her eyes unable to be pulled away. Suddenly, at his movement, the brood flinched and realized that not only had he been staring back, but he had seen her staring as well. Oh unicorns! Rylynn, you're such an idiot. She inwardly cursed at herself, somewhat annoyed with that fact that her stallion-crazy high had come to a sudden end, and embarrassed that this horse she didn't even know had caught her practically drooling over him. Could he blame though? It wasn't everyday that handsome stallions, such as himself, didn't think of themselves as good looking or attractive.
It was only when she noticed him approaching her did her heart begin uncontrollably. Great, she thought, Not only have I made a fool of myself, but he's coming over to talk to that fool! Though half of her wanted to run and not look back, another half was somewhat glad he had decided to wander over to her. But how? Rylynn had never longed or cared for the attention of a stallion, why all of a sudden now? Did she like him? No... I can't like him. I don't even know him... She inwardly told herself, suddenly finding herself face to face with the handsome horse. At this point, she looked like a deer in caught in headlights.
Rylynn felt as if her face was as hot as the sun and as bright as a tomato when he approached, and she couldn't hope that he wasn't here to confront her about staring at him. How embarrassing that would be! Especially since she wasn't the type of brood to be fawning over stallions. "Oh-um, hi.." She murmured awkwardly, trying to keep a cool demeanor. The last thing she needed to do was act as if she had been fawning over him, even when the two of them both knew she had clearly been doing so.

His eyes curiously glamces over the mare who had been looking at him as he approached. Had he done something strange or did she want to talk to him? He wasn't really sure, perhaps she had been looking past him at something else. Either way, it was too late to turn back from the approach now so he continued to walk towards her. As he did though, he noticed her face turning bright red and a nervous demeanor come about her. Maybe she was shy and hadnt wanted him to come talk to her at all? Wait... Had she been- Checking him out? No, surely most bachelor mares hated the stallions of the herd... Right? With every step, he wondered what caused her to look at him in the first place and now blush. Then, he reached her and realized he hadn't really thought it through at all. Well, what he was going to do once he spoke to her at least... He tried to meet her flustered gaze before a stumbled hello came from her lips and caused him to pause for a moment. He wasn't going to point it out even if she had been staring because she felt attracted to him. He had no intention of making someone he's barely met feel bad. Of course, he was a fan of teasing but only when it was well received and he knew the individual well enough. "Hey," he answered calmly hoping it would settle her a little "I don't think I've had the chance to talk to you before. Sorry about that". He apologized genuinely feeling bad that after so many years in the herd he'd been too focused on his own training to properly meet everyone. "I'm Ryuko, what about you?"

While watching the red-hued horse approach, she noticed his face seemed to be switching back and forth from curious, confused, and uncertain. She couldn't help but feel the way. However, when they were finally face to face and the lean stallion began speaking, she was somewhat relieved that he hadn't mentioned her staring. Or at least, not yet had hadn't. She wouldn't be mad if he had though, it was her fault for letting herself daydream like a fool. "I don't think I've had the chance to talk to you before. Sorry about that." He spoke calmly, "I'm Ryuko, what about you?"
"It's nothing to apologize about," She chuckled slightly, letting herself slowly relax, "I'm not as interesting as you'd think." When he spoke his name, Rylynn let it repeat in her head several times, inwardly listening to it echo throughout her mind, both to cherish his voice and remember his name in future passings. Ryuko. She liked that. It was unique, uncommon, and somehow suited him. Stop mooning over him you pathetic brood! She suddenly thought, scolding herself for becoming wrapped up in the Scavenger yet again. "It's nice to meet you, Ryuko." Rylynn smiled, dipping her head slightly, "I'm, Rylynn."
Suddenly, an awkward silence overwhelmed her, completely dumbfounded on what else she could say. Nice weather we're having! ...Nah. Anything interesting happen for you today? ...No way. Rylynn was so awkward when it came to conversations, especially with such good looking stallions. Ugh, I disgust myself. She thought, utterly shocked by how a single horse could possess the ability to draw her to him like that. She hated liking specific horses like this, it's not like she would marry this stallion, let alone talk to him again. Besides, for the most part, the stallions only talked up the mares for breeding purposes and she certainly wouldn't be apart of that. Giving her head a little shake, Rylynn gave a smile, hoping she hadn't been staring off into space yet again. "Um.. How has your day been?" She finally spoke in a weak attempt to keep the conversation going for God knows why.

Ryuko watched her as he waited for a reply, wondering what the mare was thinking. When she chuckled, he noticed what a nice smile she had but his expression didn't reveal his own thoughts. It was soft and neutral, the way he always felt he should approach mares. Well, mares that weren't out to kill his herd members at least... "Rylynn" he echoed nodding his head a little as he registered it "that's a nice name". He had to admit, the sudden silence had affected him a little too. He wasn't used to being affected by an awkward atmosphere but somehow the situation made it inevitable. With a little chuckle at her question, he looked back over his shoulder a little. It was strange to be asked about his day, but he supposed there was nothing wrong with it. Perhaps he wasn't just that used to talking to others he didn't know that well. "Mostly kept busy training, and you?" He replied as he looked back at her. There certainly was a particular charm about her shyness. He knew that some part of her nervousness probably stemmed from the way most stallions treated the mares in the herd... To some degree he was obliged to stick to that mentality but, he hadn't been born here. Those views weren't ingrained in his mind as strongly as the others. When a mare was kind, he found it difficult to treat them with disrespect they didn't deserve. "You know, I'm not really a fan of small talk..." He admitted averting his gaze a little. "We can talk, ask Eachother questions if you want" Ryuko tried to suggest albeit having difficulty with delivering it softly. "Were you born here?".

[ ahh, im so sorry for the late reply ;; o;; ]
The mare gave a little nod at his gentle words, "Thank you; your's as well." She murmured. It was both a shock and relief that this Scavenger was as kind as he was, it wasn't easy to meet someone like him. Most Bachelors were exactly what the rumors said, barbaric and cruel monsters. Even the broods of the herd somehow were classified by such names. Yet somehow, it still angered her, such close-minded horses had no notion of what on earth the Bachelors were actually like. Yes, to a large degree, they did match the foul words horses spat out, but they were loyal and proud warriors of this island, and although she couldn't speak for others, she could speak for herself. She'd rather die here, under the law of the Bachelors, than die trying to run away like a coward.
His words brought the grullo mare back into reality, and she gave a little nod. "I assume thats good. Depending on how you look at things." Rylynn said, not having much knowledge on the subject. At his following question, the brood shrugged her scarred shoulders, "Nothing out of the usual." She replied obliquely. Her days were nothing compared to his. Stallions trained and sparred and did well for the herd, but broods were bounded to an undying life of standing by and bearing foals, they simply stood to rot away in the rolling fields. Or at least thats what the majority did. Some broods dared to sneak off, while very few others were granted the life of a golden mare that any brood would loathe over.
Suddenly, a quiet sigh escaped her lips. Though their conversation had barely begun, the mare still somehow enjoyed speaking with the red stallion. It did get lonely for the mare, she had never been one to fit in with the other broods, but when company did prevail Rylynn gladly accepted it. Rylynn couldn't help but chuckle slightly, "I suppose I have never been one for it either." She murmured, shuffling her hooves slightly before giving a nod at his words. She'd much rather talk and question about one another than stand awkwardly and talk about things probably neither of them understood properly or cared about. At his question, Rylynn let her dark ears twitch, "Yes, I was. I've lived here my whole life." She explained, suddenly daring to let her eyes wander to his forehead, a place where all Bachelors studs bore the sacred 'X' of the herd. However, this particular horse didn't. "What about yourself?" She suddenly asked, her head curiously tilting to the side like a confused puppy, "You don't wear the 'X'."
