Lesson Time
Characters: Tam (Shinju) and Jed (Myth) Time: Few years before the war. Location: Olde City, Praying Pool
Four seasons have past since Tamera has been accepted into the Olde after asking Vasska a new chance to start over her life. The mare has been unstable with her mood swing and was not like before towards newer faces after her small incident from the Bachelor. She had lashed out at some of her new herd mates and was a bit hostile. It was as if she was a different person together with only small part of her core personality was left. The grullo mare tried her best to keep it at minimum, but she felt as if she needed to repay the King back somehow and thus after much contemplating she wanted to become a Knight to show how grateful she was., and thus in a few years she had been working her way towards becoming the first female Knight. Though as a Olde one need to learn about their culture weather if they were they were natives or foreigners. Today was the day Tamera had to learn about the Unicorn's lore and many other aspect of life around the herd. She was told to meet her instructor at Old City where the Praying Pool was. It was considered as the most scared of the two they had, the other one begin in the Silver woods. As the Mare trotted over towards her meeting point she wondered who was it that was going to give her a lesson today, could it be one of the healers? No perhaps someone from higher up would be more likely. She was so careless as her head was looking down upon the drown that she wasn't aware of how she had bumped into.

It had been a rather good day so far, at least the weather seemed to be cooperating somewhat... Jediah had always detested rain as he always ended up looking like a drowned wilcat so he supposed he was fortunate this morning. His cousin, King Vasska, had briefly informed him a week ago that he would be taking on a student to teach them the herd's lore. With some bitterness towards the task, he had agreed to it. His main objection being that he did not get along well with outsiders but he supposed any that were willing to learn the herd's ways must be appreciated. Besides, if there was anything he enjoyed talking about, it was the unicorns. That week, he had observed his prospective student and learnt that she was a rather fiesty mare. In the past, his experiences with mares had never fared well so he had taken a moment before their encounter to pray to the Great One to grant him patience. Which he often lacked with those of lower rank... He would try his best, for the good of achieving another faithful follower for the holy ones. Just as he was about to stand, a figure collided with his and sent him stumbling back a bit to straighten his posture with balance. With the slight blink of his turquoise eyes, turned half slits with the creases of his frown, he tried to see who had so rudely bumped in to him. It was with little surpise, that he found it to be his student. Clearing his throat, he spoke up "Good morning to you too" he said monotonously, though slightly disgruntled. "I'll pardon that careless lack of attention as you are pleasantly on time" he added with the shake of his head before looking her in the eyes. "Before we start, I wish to know which herd you originate from. Mostly to see how much you are lacking in knowledge"

Tamera|Knight Shaking her head from the small collision she blinked a few time before looking up meeting with a cough from the other horse before it spoke out with a monotone voice. Her lime green eyes locked with the owner of turquoise eyes who had a frown adorn on his face as he uttered a good morning to the mare and shook his head, but before she could reply to the stallion he said he'd pardon her for lack of carelessness because she was on time? What was with this stallion, she knew she was in the wrong for not looking but the least he could do was let her apologize? Well this was off to a great start so far what else could basically go wrong now.
"I'm sorry for bumping into you..." she muttered looking away from the stallion with a light blemish dusting her cheeks from her embarrassment.
Soon after the male asked her where she originated from, she raised her head up and look at him with her full height. It wasn't until then that she realized that he too was the same height as her. Often she was the taller one since she join except for those bigger draft breed. After taking a closer look Tamera thought the stallion was more then decent looking, she almost forgot and let her inner self come out if she wasn't seeing his grumpy face waiting an answer from her.
"I, originally originated from the Bachelor..." she spoke hesitantly, she knew that Olde views the Bachelor as those with brawn and no brain. Its not like that wasn't true, and there are parts she agreed, but ti wasn't all too bad when she had Lilith with her. If she wasn't so spooked by one of the stallion then maybe she would have never crossed the land bridge. Whatever the reason it was now it didn't matter, this was her new home now and she should try and get use to it. Though due to living off on her own originally for a full year on the Isle of Olde before she asked to join her personality had become somewhat feisty from begin on constant alert from predators and the lack of socializing with other had taking its effect on her developing a outer shell then her previous hyper and lively soul.

The adviser raised an eyebrow and relaxed his expression at her apology, at least she had offered him one unlike many others who seemed to think they were above such a gesture. He noticed the blush and cleared his throat awkwardly, looking away slightly at the praying pool to remind himself that the unicorns was what he had devoted his life to. As she raised her head at his question, he eyed her curiously thinking about whether she was trying to measure up to him or whether she was doing it out of pride for where she came from. When she gave her reply, he hoped it wasn't the latter. He truly despised bachelors, though not as much as the exiles, for that herd full of brutes was what his former mate had left him for voluntarily. He thought back to it, images of his son flashing through his mind and he stared off into the distance with a pensative and troubled expression. "The bachelors you say..." He had to use every fibre of effort in his body not to spit the words out with contempt. "I see. Well, you made a wise decision with abandoning those fools. With time you will be able to become as pure as the rest of us if you dedicate yourself." He focused his eyes back on her before walking closer to the pool and taking a deep breath as he lowered his head, closing his eyes. "There is a lot for you to learn about the way of our religion. But we will begin with the foundation... A time where the holy ones walked this land with us. Do you know anything of it?" He questioned, feeling the incredible urge to ask whether she had encountered his son there but he knew it would do him no good. Besides, he was incredibly skeptical that anything the bachelors learnt about the unicorns was all blasphemy and incredibly wrong.

Tamera|Knight It was obvious about how the stallion felt about her previous herd, though she wanted to chuckle at how ironically the same thing was said back at the bachelor for a time. Both side calling each other fools...they were fairly in common then they think. Of course she wouldn't voice this out she was an outsider and she has taken subtle hints in his distaste for them, she couldn't blame them it was the tradition of the Olde and like many other herd each have their own view on certain things. "Yes, I grew up there until I was 19, though not everyone is a fool..." she replied to him as the grullo mare was now besides him as he lowered his head and closed his eyes and utter another question. Though she wasn't too happy when he technically used that all Bachelor were fools, cause that would mean her Idol would be too and that was one of the few things that irked her. The mare tried to keep hide her upset tone hoping the stallion hadn't take notice of her faster breathing as she tried to hold back what she wanted to tell him after her half whispered at the lattered.
"I've heard of the Great Compromiser was the first unicorn to walk the Isle of Olde from a few passer by. Though If you don't mind me asking Sir, but may I know your name?" The mare has heard little bit and pieces when she would occasionally observe the members not to far off. Tamera found the lore to be very interesting and like her inner core she still had her curiosity and with that and somewhat open-minded towards these subject, was one of the whole reason why she wanted to join the Olde. The mare's only reason for not even begin moody and feisty then usual was due to the fact that she didn't want to offended the one who was teaching her and at the same time she prefer to observe another reaction and feelings before she felt comfortable enough to just be straight forward towards them. Though by the looks of things it won't take too long to have some sparks flying in between.

"That is a very long time to be stuck in those awful conditions and mentality..." He frowned a little but kept his position of his face above the water with his eyes closed. Oh Great Compromiser, this was going to be a tough task. One who had lived by those despicable laws and unfaithful ways for so much of her life was bound to be a challenge. But he would force himself somehow to live up to it, as always. Another deep breath came from him as his ear twitched slightly, hearing her breathing accelerate somewhat making him curious. "Perhaps. Most of the mares are victims, not fools. Though I'm sure some reside there that are too blinded to leav he thought of his previous mate, and the betrayal made his blood boil once again. Never trust a loner, he had told himself. Never trust anyone but Olde. Even then, he realized he had no one he really felt was trustworthy in his life, except for the unicorns. When she asked his name, he raised his head high and cocked an eyebrow in slight annoyance. He had to remind himself calmly that she was new and had not yet learnt the names of those higher ranked than her. "I am Jediah. Adviser and cousin to the king. Vasska has already informed me of yours." He paused, distracted for a moment from what he had planned to tell her before speaking up again "and it seems to me you have a lot of learning to do about our religion, so let us not lose time." Trying hard to avoid letting this conversation go into anything more personal than names, he quickly tried to edge the lesson on. He did not wish to speak to a mare on an informal level, for he had to focus on his religion. He couldn't risk it, his previous infatuation with the Queen had nearly driven him mad with conflict and guilt. So he always kept a firmer formality with mares, in fear that it would happen again. Though he was mostly blind to gender, females seemed more poisonous and tempting at times with all their gentle grace... He looked up again, actually- Perhaps this wouldn't be so much of a problem for Tamera seemed to lack those siren qualities. From what he had whitnessed so far, at least.

Tamera|Knight "True mostly if you were a rank of slave, but as long as you know the right horse it shouldn't be too bad...Some just adapt to that life other I really don't know perhaps they are blinded." She spoke as a matter of fact. Everything has its pro and cons and it was the same at the Bachelor as she was sure it would be here as well. This conversation made her remember Klaus and Lilith the two most important horses in her life that she knew growing up on the East Island, of course that is until she lost Klaus due to her own naive mischievous ways and it torn them apart as friends more then ever. He was her first love though the mare never really wanted to admit it fully heartedly, deep down she knew and it broke her heart to love someone who doesn't feel the same...especially when that said figure called you a brood and fool which meant that she was no longer anything to him. She shook her head slightly to get rid of the thought that began to sink in again.
She looked back at the stallion to see his slight annoyance as she asked for his name. Okay maybe she should have asked the king about the name of her teacher, but it wasn't her fault when she wasn't exactly social on the outside as much anymore. Many of the horses in Olde either are afraid of her outer expression and rough words. The mare pouted a bit which only lasted for a few second before she calmed herself down at a neutral expression. "Ah, well my apologies for not knowing first, I shall keep it in mind." She looked at him more serious now.
"Alright then so shall we begin?" she said giving him a determined smile.

"They must be blinded..." Jediah echoed himself, not really noticing it as the pensatively expression of his student made him think more about the Bachelor herd. It baffled his sharp mind long ago how any mare would willingly take up a mission to go live there and call those conditions home. Though he knew that most mares who did reside there, had not come on their own terms. So why would his mate have left the comfort of Olde and submit herself and their son to such circumstances? It truly was a mystery to him. "With the way mates are treated..." He muttered more to himself before another sentence from her broke him out of his thoughts.
It wasn't exactly like he had blamed her for not knowing his name in advance, he had simply stated that he had known hers. It was his duty after all to be informed about the herd, even if he didn't interact with them as much as an adviser would be expected to. Still, it was a welcome courtesy that she thought she should have known who he was before she arrived. With all the things he had heard about this mare's temper, he had yet to see anything wrong with it. Perhaps she was wise and directed said temper to those who needed to be reprimanded. That, Jediah approved of. He was a stickler for rules after all and he hoped this new student agreed with his strictness. If she didn't, well frankly she would learn the hard way.
Casting another curious glance her way, he nodded and briefly closed his eyes. "Yes, let us begin before the day is already half gone from us." He agreed. Searching his mind for where to begin the tale of the unicorns, he found a very easy solution. He would tell all of it, from the beginning. Even if she knew some parts, perhaps he could fill the gaps in her knowledge this way. "The tale of the unicorns is a very old one, and it's beginning is unknown to even the most faithful of us. Of course we know the story from the time they graced our lands... We were blessed with their presence until the betrayers did them wrong, and that is when they began loosing faith in us". He raised his head again and began to specify, "Arryn the thief was the first to betray him. No matter how forgiving the great compromiser was, he stole something very dear to him and began to turn power hungry and dark. So he was banished to Southern and founded the first of the split herds". He looked at Tamera to see if she was still following, and took a small breath. "The second, was Horod. He did not appreciate the peaceful ways of the Olde herd and demanded he and his followers were allowed to leave it. The great one was disappointed and enraged that they had not seen his many efforts to help the mortals. They too were banished, but this time to the Eastern island. Horod the magic eater, in turn, became the founder of the herd you come from."
