Snake II Bachelor II Scavenger Purple maybe? The spotted stallion nuzzled his way through the tall grasses amid the meadow plentifully dotted with wildflowers. That would do, yes. He nipped a few dark green stems topped with delicate blossoms to complete his little bouquet. With a few daises, some blue columbine, and violets straddled in his mouth, he trotted through the field, down a slope and over a creek, careful not to shake up the flowers and loosen their petals. As he waded through a patch of wild blue-grass, his dandelion yellow eyes came to rest upon the fringes of his herd, or the broods anyway, guarded by a loose group of infantry stallions while they grazed. Luckily, he wouldn't have to go wading through them all in order to deliver his gift, as he spotted the champagne mare he was searching for browsing close by. He ambled casually past a few broods he barely recognized, ignoring their curious eyes as they watched him pass by with a mouthful of flowers, a butterfly or two flitting around his head in confusion regarding the moving blooms. The appaloosa nickered quietly to catch Niya's attention as he neared, stretching out his neck to offer her the bouquet. He had been visiting her as often as he could, sometimes sneaking away from his Scavenger duties to pay her a visit. He wanted her to get used to her presence, perhaps even enjoy it. She often seemed so reserved he was afraid he wasn't getting through to her, but he reminded himself that patience was of the essence and continued with his visitations.

Niya || Bachelor || Slave
The day was quiet and peaceful, as it often was at the beginning. She'd babysat a few foals for a little while and now that they had gone off to another sitter, she had the afternoon to relax on her own. She contently grazed, her emerald eyes somewhat hazy, her mind somewhere else. As was so common for the young homesick mare, she imagined that she was with her family. Her mother grazed beside her, in the distance her brother was playing with a smaller version of himself, showing the colt some fun tricks, the two smiling and laughing soundlessly. A mysterious mare was watching contently not too far away, a pretty thing, though with little detail as to color and build. She hoped he was happy, that he'd found someone to make him smile and give him the joy of his life. Her quiet daydreaming was soon brought to an end when a familiar nicker sounded, pulling her from her imaginary world. Her delicately dished head raised from the grass on which she grazed to meet the dark spotted stallion as he ambled over to her, his eyes glistening like the sun itself. In his mouth was a small bouquet of flowers, each piece seeming to have been picked out with utmost care. When he offered the lovely floral collection a timid smile pulled at the ends of her lips and she felt her face flush. "For me?" She asked softly, her voice hardly even a whisper. Her eyes fluttered as she reached forward to gently take the flowers. "They are lovely." She commented on them kindly as she took in a sweet-smelling breath. "Thank you." She was getting used to the stallion's visits. He came so often now that it was almost a regular thing to her. She was growing more accustomed to his presence, not quite as jumpy around him. She was slowly growing more comfortable, realizing that he didn't have intentions to harm her. Still, she couldn't help but be cautious. After all, what reason would a bachelor stallion have to get to know a quiet little mare like her? As much as she wished it to be, she doubted that it was because he actually cared... though the more time he devoted to her, the more sweet words and kind actions he spoiled her with, the more her protective wall cracked.

"For me?" Snake nodded, pleased with the mare's compliment and manners. She was well raised, he'd give her that. He recalled her telling him she was from the Olde, though he couldn't quite remember how long she'd been here. Most bachelor's didn't waste time teaching their children how to be polite, it was all about aggression, the tough ones were most likely to survive after all. Snake had been one of the few bachelor born horses he knew of to learn what the word 'manners' even meant. He was just ten years of age when an Olde mare had found her way to the bachelor herd, and though her stay had been brief, he still remembered what she'd taught him. "A proper gentleman introduces himself to a lady." had been among the first words she'd ever said to him. After she'd left though, he hadn't quite put his 'manners' to use as she had intended him to. One negative thing after another occurred and he learned something new. Unless you could use it to your own benefit, it was worthless. And so he picked up a silver tongue to help himself scrape through the harsh life he'd been born into, acting plenty pleasing at first, and revealing his true intentions only after he'd achieved self-gain. "Are you enjoying your day? The weather is nice." he nickered, "Would you like to take a walk?" he offered.

Snake seemed quite pleased with her reaction toward the flowers. Even if she had hated them, Niya knew she probably would have reacted the same, or similarly at least. She wouldn't dare say or do something that would upset a stallion... ok, so when she felt threatened it was true that she let her mouth run... but when in her right mind she'd never do such a thing. Nonetheless, Snake was probably the stallion she was most comfortable around. He was kind, gentle, and polite. He knew his manors and for someone raised in Olde it was very nice to be able to interact with another who knew what the word was. "Are you enjoying your day?" He asked and she returned a polite smile with a small nod of her head. "It's a lovely day." She agreed to his comment on the weather. Then he offered to go for a walk. If there was one thing she enjoyed about his attention toward her, it was the walks. It gave her a time to get away from the rest of the herd and take a breath. Sure, she'd been "escorted" off before, but it was hardly opportunity to relax. Their walks were often very quiet and peaceful, something she could actually look forward to. She smiled again, and this time it was a true smile, not a mask put on to seem polite. "I would love to." She replied, her words less timid and completely honest. A walk, yes, it was the perfect day for a walk.

Snake dipped his head and settled himself beside the mare, adjusting his stride to match hers. "Have you seen the entire island or do you mostly just visit the same grazing places?" he asked. "Is there anywhere in particular you want to visit? We could always go to the ocean shore." he offered. As he was a scavenger, not a guard, he wasn't particularly certain what the movements of the herd's broods were. He always managed to find them by scent and tracking when he needed to, but if there was a set schedule he wasn't aware of it. His spotty hide, though lithe and well-groomed, sported the occasional scar, a few of them new. He'd been having...issues within his herd...to say the least. He had suspected for some time now that the brood Bat-Sheva was his mother. In which case, he was resentful she'd never clarified before, even after his father's death. She had let him believe he was alone, why? He didn't blame her sons, per say, but as he'd become more aware of their possible relations, he had insidiously attempted to know more about them, probe them with questions in hopes of learning why his likely dam seemed to favor them over him, and things didn't always end well. Because his herd seemed to overlook him every time something big came up, he was also trying to seek out his own adventures. Fine. If they didn't want to invite him along he'd do his own thing. Again, these didn't always end up as planned. Rule breaking and fights always managed to wear their way into his schemes, giving him a scar or two to remember them by. But no matter, he was sure these rough times he was experiencing would eventually fade away and things would go smoothly again. Wait. Had they ever been smooth? He had to think about this for a moment, his yellow eyes gazing placidly into the distance as his mind wandered. Well, he couldn't recall much regarding a peaceful life but for when he was very young. His friends were still in the herd and he didn't yet understand the predicament with his anonymous mother. He realized they had been walking for a while and he'd said nothing. Had she responded to his initial questions yet? "Sorry," he nickered. "Did you say something?"

The mare was quiet as she walked. Even with such a large, sturdy body and huge hooves she was rather quiet on her feet, like an elephant you could say. She moved with grace, her long, thick, curly feathers adding to that look. A curved ear tilted itself toward the stallion beside her when he spoke up, asking where she would like to go. She was about to tell him that she didn't care where they went until he suggested the ocean shore. Her emerald green eyes lit right up and she raised her head some. "Could we?" Her voice was higher pitched than usual, filled with excitement of the idea of going to the ocean. The beach having been the place of her birth there was no where she would rather be than by the ocean. It was like it was part of her. Her stride gained energy and she looked at him in anticipation. For a few moments her defenses all falling before her. Then she noticed his detraction and her expression sobered. He seemed so deep in thought and for a moment she wondered what it could be he was so deeply thinking about. Before she could ask if everything was alright he nickered an apology. She was quiet for a moment, wondering if she should question what he was thinking about, though she quickly decided that wouldn't be the best idea. She offered him a polite grin. "I would love to go to the ocean shore." she suggested, looking a bit shy at her request.

Snake smiled back at the mare, free of his usual venomous sarcasm. "Of course." he replied, dipping his head. He adjusted course slightly and the earth beneath his hooves became coarser and rockier, tufts of sea oats lining their path and the salty tang of the ocean whisking sharply over his dark nose. She was quiet and he didn't want to disturb her peace too often, but still found the occasional question or comment to keep the mood light and companionable. "We're almost there." he said, ears flickering as the sound of the ocean waves crashing against the shore reached him. It was not an unfamiliar sound to him. He scouted along the shore many times and had even crossed the land bridge leading to the Olde isle twice on his own accord. His bicolored mane swept across his eyes and away, the wind from the ocean picking up. He tilted his head and gazed with his dandelion yellow eyes at the seagulls soaring overhead, their piercing cries blending with the ocean's hissing spray and roaring waves and frothy whispers. "Here we are." he said at last, coming to a stop atop a tall, grassy rise. Below them was a white sand cove speckled with seashells. "This way." he nickered, carefully walking down a ledge that led to the beach below. His hooves landed in the sand with a dull thud and he looked behind him to check the mare's progress, the ravine was too thin for them to walk side by side. the loud, crashing waves couldn't seem to penetrate the earthen bowl sound barrier. The area leading to the ocean was a narrow strip and the waves rolling in were calm and foamy. A small flock of seagulls took to the air when they saw the horses coming, their feathers white as the big lazy clouds drifting overhead.
