You two decide to keep eachother company, star gazing and telling getting to know eachother better. Setting: Set while Exile's are on Eastern Isles, after war between Olde and Bachelor, no particular date. Weather: Clear sky, gentle breeze. Characters: Kanu (Jodifarrow22) and Syria (Tree-Branch)
KANU | STALLION | EXILE CAPTAIN
The nights were usually rough for Kanu, he was high strung a lot of the time, looking over his shoulder every two seconds and it had become a reflex to do a head count every two hours or so. His biological clock had grown used to Kanu jolting awake all the time, so now it simply seethed from his conscious. He didn't sleep when he should, and he couldn't sleep when he wanted to. It was a rather irritating thing for him, but he had only brought it on himself. After the war Kanu had no intentions of letting things slide, or giving any form of dangerous being the chance to harm his family more than they already had. Kanu rolled over, trying to get comfortable so he could get some rest. His head was just rushing at one hundred miles an hour, and he struggled to quieten it down. After at least half an hour of forlorn attempts to shut his eyes and keep them shut, he decided that it simply wasn't working and something else had to be done. So he stood up- as quietly as he could- and made his way to wherever his hooves would take him. He just had to walk somewhere, anywhere.
Walking seemed to soothe his mind a little, watching the ground move under his feet slowly as each hoof landed heavily among the lush blades of grass. He sighed, shutting his eyes tightly as he felt a small headache center itself in his temples. At least the weather was nice. He scanned the area before him, nothing moved, nothing stirred. It was as if everyone had died and he was the only one left in the world. The thought of being utterly alone, in limbo with no one to turn to made him cringe and he quickly shook the thought from his busy mind.
Just as he was about to turn and walk back toward the other Exiles, a silhouette caught his eye. He squinted, trying to see who it was. If it was a Bachelor he'd make the journey back to his herd quicker, but if it was an Exile he'd approach and try to find out why there were wandering so far from the others. As the figure moved, he realized who it was. Syria. He recognized her from her coat and her tail, her being the only one in the herd with features like hers. From what Kanu had seen of her, she appeared to be friendly enough, so he pushed forward with the intention of striking up a conversation.

Syra | Exile Scout | Mare
The stars littered the sky, while the moon glowed endlessly above the lands. This was true beauty she thought to herself, as she trotted onwards though seemed to keep her attention up above. Perhaps if she bothered to glance around she would have spotted Kanu not to far from her. A small smile seemed to grow on her lips as she despite the difference of each herd, they were all horses, all had the same heart, same soul. It just seemed they all got lost along the way. It had always been a plan of hers to create a new world order here on the isles. She had seen the bitterness and hatred that clung like a noose to the herd of old. How their ways to refuse to change. It would be the death of them, she thought to herself. Then there was the bachelors, they idea of ruling seemed barbaric in all honesty. They pillaged the lands, stole mares and it seemed stallions had the lead of the way. While the Exiles sure their history did not do them much justice as well. But they evolved and continued to grow and adapt the world that was constantly changing. Then the loners had to worry for themselves seemed to have to sleep with one eye open. Oh Syria had dreamed of changing things.
A soft sigh escaped her lips as she removed her attention from her mind as well as the stars. Eyes glanced about and it was then she spotted him trotting his way towards her. She jumped a bit, as she wasn't really expecting anyone else out her. "Kanu?" she tilted her head a bit, and smiled a bit once she realized it was indeed him. Praise be good, she thought to herself as she looked to him. "Enjoying a nice night walk?" Brow arose as the smile grew more on her lips. Tail flickered as she had to wonder, not many wonder about at night, especially in unknown terrain. Though she found comfort in the fact Kanu was here as well. A large stallion brave and fierce. She was indeed blessed with good company tonight.

KANU | STALLION | EXILE CAPTAIN
As he approached the Exile mare, he almost regretted it. She seemed deep in contemplation, lost in a thought Kanu wasn't sure he wanted to interrupt. But, his worry was extinguished when she spoke to him, welcomed him to her side. Perhaps she was in the same boat as he, simply trying to clear her mind after the terror that was the war. He somewhat hoped she was, for it would open a window, a window that'd allow him to speak to her of his internal anguish. He wasn't sure yet though, for he didn't want to spring these emotions onto her if she wasn't in the state of mind or emotion to accept them and devour them without consequences. Basically, he needed to see if she was in a good head space this calm night.
At her smile, he assumed she was feeling content with her own thoughts, perhaps a little irritated with them for keeping her up, but content nonetheless. He nodded to her, a friendly smile on his own lips. A fake one, but one he wished he could muster up for real. He was simply too tired to be happy about surviving the war, because there were many who didn't. He moved closer to her until their sides brushed against one another with every inhale. His head tilted toward the sky, eyes scanning the stars just as Syria's were. They were beautiful, free, sparkling with no worries and no cares. He longed to be one, to be among their illuminating quality. They didn't have problems, they needn't kill or survive. They were just... There. Then they weren't when the sun came up, but that was OK because Kanu would like to disappear sometimes.
"I am. My mind is clouded- slightly. I thought a walk would be nice, but I find that company would be nicer." He smiled again, this time he sort of actually meant it. He really was glad he'd found Syria. "What are you doing up?"

Syria | Exile Scout | Mare
Brow arose curiously as Kanu spoke, it was true it seemed. Something was dwelling within his mind, was it troubling news, or stress? It made the speckle mare all the more curious and wanting to dive within ones mind. Though that was Syria's nature, she had a strong desire to root out all problems and issue, to find the main cause and rid all from it. Syria was a born defender of all, with all things, though she was of course not perfect. At times she too lost her common sense, could be seen arguing with others and fighting a bit. Pride could be such a nasty vermin. Though at the end of the night she knew she was in the wrong and would try to make amends. Bless her soul, she tried. Horribly at times, but she tried.
"Cloud mind? Anything I perhaps could shine some light on to clear things up?" she chuckled faintly as she wasn't bothered by the closeness between them, the faint brushing of their coats. Exiles were family, well it was the only family she had. It was her chosen family, she chose to stay when everything may have screamed for her to find her parents running wild with loners. "As for myself, well I tend to have a bit of trouble relaxing here at times. This land is not what I am used to, the wind doesn't dull me to sleep, it sings a different tune. Its hauntingly familiar, but still not the same." Syria shook her head clearing her mind of her constant rambling. "Lets walk and talk, perhaps it will do us both some good." Speckled form gently bumped him a bit playfully before trotting forwards with a pep in her step. Oh she was an optimist that was one thing, if anything could bring her down, she would always bounce back.

KANU | STALLION | EXILE CAPTAIN
The dark stallion nodded in understanding at what was troubling her. It was somewhat similar to his problem; the unfamiliarity. The uncertainty of his and his family's safety. It was all rather unsettling. He could empathize with Syria wholly. He wasn't actually sure if Syria would be able to calm the loud and merciless thoughts in his mind, but knowing that she was willing to help eased him a little and assured him that this interaction would do only good for him- and perhaps her. He was almost glad there was others in the herd that unsettled as to be up now, for it gave him an opportunity to have some one-on-one time with those he watched over every day but couldn't really stop to converse with properly. Syria was one of the mares in the herd he hadn't had much time to sit and speak with, so he was grateful that they just both happened to be up now- despite the circumstances.
At her proposal to take a walk, Kanu perked his ears and gave a friendly, calm grin, "Sounds great." He said simply, chuckling as she bumped rumps with him and propelled forward. He was almost in awe at how positive she seemed to be. Despite having trouble sleeping and adjusting to life here on the Eastern Isles, she was still retaining a calm and optimistic composure. That was pretty much what Kanu needed right now to counter his negative thoughts. Kanu trotted until he caught up to her, letting his legs take him wherever they wanted to go- assuring Syria was beside him.
As the two walked through the gently swaying grass, Kanu looked up at the sky again. The stars were lively, at their peak in the midst of the velvety blue sky. He had- only just now- realized how in love with the stars he was. His eyes widened suddenly as a star shot across the span of the sky above them, vibrant and glorious in all it's beauty. Kanu smiled and looked down at the mare beside him, "A shooting star... What will you wish for?" He said, his voice a lot calmer than before.

A warm smile graced her grey lips as he walked along side of her. Yes the company was good, and the heat was not terrible tonight. Sure this wasn't her home, but Exiles had a knack for adapting. Syria of course snuck glances at the stallion next to her, he was the Captain, something she had always strived for in her younger days. Even know walking alongside of him, her desire for something more bloomed deep within her. She wanted to be a guard, a high guard to be exact. Syria was known for being a bit reckless, but it always seemed to be for the safety of another.
A light caught her eye and she looked up towards the sky. A shooting star. It swept up in the sky so brilliantly, it took her breath away. Syria looked to Kanu and smiled brightly, oh she knew what she wished for, but also knew the tradition of the way of shooting stars. keep it a secret it'll come true. Tell and well its like having no luck at all. She kept her main wish to herself. How she wanted to be the uniter, the one to join the herds together. All to live in peace. "What would I wish for." Syria chirped out to him, giving it a thought, what else would she wish for. "Well as shameful as it maybe. I want to be a high guard. I was going through a lot when being trained... I missed out on being a guard, so I had to settle for scout." she chuckled a bit smiling to him all the more. "But of course I am still young, and there is always time for change." Syria nodded to him all the more.
"So tell me Kanu, what would you wish for?" Brow arose in a curious manner as she looked to him with delight. Learning others wishes are fun, it gave someone a chance to see deeper into ones soul. To see what their heart craved, to have a chance to see what desires laid within. Tail flickered as she hummed a faint tune, something to fill the silence and allow Kanu a moment to think, like he had granted her that. Figuring out a wish, and what to say, well that could indeed be such risky business.

KANU | STALLION | EXILE CAPTAIN
The Exile Captain watched with tentative eyes as Syria seemed to map out in her mind what she'd choose to say. It wasn't easy, picking just one wish when there were so many things that could be wished for. Whether it was something so insignificant or something that could change the world, every wish was valid which only made it harder to choose. He realized after he'd asked that she wouldn't tell him the real wish, for it was bad luck. He did go along with what she eventually said though, accepting that they could perhaps tell each other their second wish, if they were to ever get one. He nodded at her after she'd told him hers, and he was slightly surprised. She didn't strike him as the type to take potentially violent action- as the high guard would have to do more than one would like. But, he knew where she was coming from, for it was once his dream too. Before everything major had happened in his life, back when he was a tiny foal with no real path toward greatness, he dreamed of being a high guard. His father supported his choice and trained him every day so that when the time came, Kanu would be ready. What he got was something drastically different, but a rank in the herd he'd take on nonetheless. He'd been dubbed the Captain, to his surprise.
It was just proof that anything can- and often will- happen in this world they lived in. Syria dreamed of being a High guard, but who knew, she could end up becoming world leader, if she wanted. He did not know though. "I have not seen you in action, but I don't doubt that you would make a fine High guard. The most important thing is you're intentions for being a High guard. I think yours are in the right place." He smiled at her, perking his ears. When came time to think of his own wish- well, his second wish- he sighed. There were so many things he'd want to wish for, so many things he needed to wish for and so many things he wanted to change for the better. His first wish would have been to have his father back, something he knew would never happen but longed to happen more than anything. His father had been his best friend, his only family for a long time until he was suddenly taken away from him when Kanu was just a teenager. To have his father back where he belonged would be Kanu's first wish.
His second one however, was a lot more enlightening, a lot more possible, "I want to have twins, with Lena." He said, chuckling slightly. It sounded silly at first, but made perfect sense, "She's been through a lot with childbirth and I know she wants to bear her own foals without having to worry about them passing away within the first few days of their lives. She always talks about twins, and I know it would make her happy, it'd also make me happy having my progeny running around. Plus Dawne, my eldest daughter, would love a couple of younger siblings I'm sure." His mind began diverging toward the path, the image of a giant happy family. He couldn't wait.

Syria || Exile Scout || Mare
His words made her heart flutter, never in the way of romance, but in pride. He spoke of her dream of being a High Guard, her heart in the right place. To have the Exile Captain say such things. Well she was honored to say the least. Cheeks turned red, embarrassed and flattered all the more, ears pinned back as she offered a bright smile. He may never know how much his words have touched her, but she would show him his words did not go to waste. She was would be amongst the High Guards, though in her heart she prefered if herds and territories became something of the past.
Eyes widen a bit as he spoke of what his wish would be twins. That indeed would be so wonderous. In all honesty having a family was something Syria never thought about. Sharing her life with someone? But what about her dreams, surely someone as a lover would slow her down. "Twins would be such a blessing to you both. I do hope your wish comes true Kanu. I think its a grand wish, one that helps not one horse, but quite a few." she chuckled, offering him a sheepish smile. "I hope it happens for your family Kanu. If any horse deserves it, its you and your family." Syria nodded as she looked to him, than back up into the sky. The stars filled with air, lightning the area before them.
"I think I'll be happy to be back home if anything. If I must settle I'd settle for that." A firm snort escaped her nostrils as she trotted forwards a bit, head hung high as she had a bounce in her step. "Things will work out for the best, they always seem too." She chuckled all the more, as she glanced at Kanu. "How about a little race hmm? Get your heart pounding again. A race always does the body good." a smirk grew on her lips as she awaited for his reply, muscles twitching as if ready to spring forwards.

KANU | STALLION | EXILE CAPTAIN
The dark stallion smiled, chuckling slightly. She seemed to have big dreams, big ambitions. He respected that, a lot. Her dreams and goals in life were important, but her eagerness to fulfill them was much more important to Kanu. If he was in the position to decide who became High Guard, he'd not only choose on physical capabilities- which were of course, important- but he'd also choose based on their fervor and passion toward the job. It was a tough one, Kanu knew, and not all were cut out for it. Perhaps a new rank should be made for Syria? She seemed diplomatic, keen to see justice in the herds met and all treated fairly. He pondered on it for a while, Kanu didn't really know her well enough to be deciding on what she'd be good at in terms of ranks within the herd's system, but he certainly could see her rushing around making sure everyone was in line and respecting their leaders orders. He chose not to speak of this new- but very much fake- position, for now he'd see her as a High guard in his mind, something she so desperately wanted to be. He respected her enough to give her that.
At her words, he smiled gratefully at her, closing his eyes for a few moments before returning his bright blue gaze to her. Her words had warmed him, she seemed very formal, even when speaking with someone he wished she would address as a 'friend', but her words had settled a lot of his worry for now. She seemed to mean it, at least Kanu believed her. He hadn't told many- well, anyone besides Lena- that he wished for twins, because it simply wasn't something that seemed to be high up on the priority list. It really was something he felt more passionate about than anything in a long while- well, besides the war. But this was a positive thing, something he could look forward to, concentrate on. "I appreciate that, more than words can say. I mean, I haven't really told anyone that before. Guess that makes us friends now, you know, we know our second best wishes, that's pretty serious." He joked, laughing and tossing his head. It had been a while since he'd genuinely laughed.
At her proposal, he nodded, giving her a proud and slightly devious smirk. "You're on!" He shouted, pushing off his back legs and flinging forward like a large boulder in a catapult. He felt his hooves pounding against the soft earth, the grass beneath him now only a blur. He had no idea where they were racing, but he didn't even care. To him, in this moment he was simply being free. No boundaries, no rules, heck, to Kanu there wasn't even a race. Just him and Syria, being free.
