Felicity was grateful for everyone's encouragement and safe travels. She hoped their words give her strength and even luck for the journey ahead; an important mission given only to her. The filly wouldn't fail, she couldn't! Cain needed to know about Klaus, and she'd do everything she could to make it to her destination. Her father was the mighty Ghost, an elite of the bachelor herd. Revered for his strength and deeds. Robin...her departed mother. So brave...so swift; not afraid to go through dangers to protect those she loved. Felicity carried their blood. She was both of them in one.
The filly turned to her friend Melia and smiled, "those grassbeasts don't stand a chance against me," then put attention to everyone who gave her courage, "thank you...I'll not fail you all." Not if she could help it. Finally her gaze shifted to her adoptive mother. Feeling Sheva go through her head with her muzzle. She acted like she was not going to be seeing her again. This thought made Felicity swallow hard. Surely they'd all meet up together again...and soon. The filly couldn't bare the thought of losing her friend, and another mother all at once! As Sheva spoke, Felicity shook away any tears that started to swell up. No...don't cry, not infront of everyone. Gotta be strong! "I'll find him," she said simply. It was all she could let out without bursting fully into crying. Sheva's further words also gave her a bit of a fright, but Felicity did her best to hide it. The young one didn't want to think about what sort of riff-raff might come her way.
As Felicity began to turn some to head onward mission, Sheva's nose was felt giving her a starting push. The filly kicked off her hind legs. Sending her flying forward into a speedy gallop. Running as fast as her little legs could carry her. Soon becoming invisible against the hailing. Her plan soon going into action after she was out of sight. The filly looked for a nice muddy spot and flopped into it while still in the speed of her gallop. Allowing herself to roll all around in it. Tearing up grass and things with her feet from the momentum, which flung onto her body as well. Covering her head to toe with mud and debris. While the momentum still was available she dove her hooves into the muck and shot herself back up onto her feet. Continuing onward with her speed. Though had to pick up a bit as she was slowed from her clever plan. She realized that the horrible weather would make her masking become removed on her pelt, but it wouldn't be an issue for her to reapply it until she got out of it's reach.

With the filly on her way, Ebony smiled seeing her charge off so bravely into the weather. She neighed cheering for the filly. Better give off as much positive influence while she could still hear them. The filly disappeared from the mule's sight. "Be safe little one..." she whispered amongst herself
Right now though, staying in the cave looked like a good option from the start, but she couldn't help to have an unsettling feeling in her stomach when her mistress brought up about looking for a different spot. Certainly they weren't going to go outside to look for one for sure. The molly trotted back just exploring the depth of the cave shelter. It looked stable enough to her. Yet she never questioned her mistress once.
"We can't run out in the weather for sure madam, I don't think the younglings can take more of the cold...or anyone else. We'll all freeze before getting anywhere..." It was enough to send one out, but to risk the others wouldn't be good to her. Plus her flower piece was drooping cause of the frost from the hail. Not to mention the other stallions that they were avoiding were out there. "M-maybe...there's more down there.." Directing her head to the very back of the cave, She picked up echoes, there could of been more to the cave than she thought. "I think its worth a look?..I mean if that's worth looking at cause I don't know its black...and cold...and scary...with unfamiliar shapes..." she backed out more from the end as she stuttered "...weird noises...and echoes..and..and...possibly stuff that could pop out of nowhere.." Go going on making the foals any better. She looked back at the others. "Ehehee...not like I'm scared or anything...cause that be silly of me..hehe.."

As the little filly raced off, Miles cringed slightly as Ebony neighed after Felicity. ‘Don’t make so much noise…Klaus and Issac are still out there...’ he thought, trying to keep his expression neutral. If they were going to slip away from those two, they needed to do it quietly. He watched as the mule walked towards the back of the supposed cave, one ear trained on Sheva as she spoke. She couldn’t have been more right. The cold was going to get to them sooner or later, and they had to stay as dry as possible or else they could all get very sick, especially the foals. Ebony was gesturing to the back of the cave, saying she could hear echoes. Miles trained his ears towards the darkness. It took him a few moments longer than Ebony probably, but he thought he heard something. Was it wind? If there was a tunnel back there it would make sense that there would be an air current. Then again, it could be his mind playing tricks on him.
Before he could say anything, Icarus bounded forward. He took a spot next to the mule, his eyes narrowed as he tried to stare into the darkness. “If there’s anything that could pop out, I’ll keep you safe!” he said, trying to impress the older molly. Miles shook his head, before glancing to Sheva. “It would be our luck that we find a tunnel system this easily. If there is a tunnel, we can follow it so we don’t have to venture back out into the hail and make our escape. Worst case scenario there isn’t a tunnel system and just the back of this cave.” He wasn’t going to make a decision for the group, but it seemed like their best option was to see if this cave did lead to a tunnel.
Icarus wiggled his tail as he stared into the darkness. He hoped there was something back there, something that would lead them on a grand adventure. Though, what about the two horses he had seen earlier? Weren’t they still out in the hail? He turned around to look at the older horses. “Why haven’t they followed us in here? Aren’t they cold too?” he asked. It seemed like his parents and the others knew the two strangers, and they spoke as if they were familiar, so why hadn’t they invited them inside the cave? Did it have something to do with Lotus and her injuries?
Miles took initiative and walked over to his son, fixing his wet forelock. “It’s a long story, but they aren’t our friends. One of them hurt Lotus…and the other…well…let’s just say you don’t want to be on his bad side,” he explained quietly as to not disturb the others with his explanation. “They’ll be fine out there, the weather suits them.”

There were no words to describe how much Melia worried about the spotted filly, who now vanished into the hail storm outside before her very own eyes. Everyone had wished her a safe journey, including Melia and Icarus, and she had put up such a brave frame too, but it did not calm Melia or make her feel any less useless. Two going out would have been better than one – she still did not understand why she had been excluded from the mission. With a heavy heart though, she trusted her foster mother and gave in to Abel’s protest. She would stay, whether she liked it or not.
Her gloomy brown eyes turned its interest to Sheva, as the lady brood spoke once Felicity had left them. The phrase ‘bloodthirsty son’ sent shivers down Melia’s spine and she hesitantly glanced Lotus’ way, observing the mare’s deep wounds one last time. The twins Isaac and Ishmael had been two of the most absent brothers in Melia’s life and watching them develop from afar had been the only option of ever having a ‘connection’ to them, but imagining that Isaac would grow up to side with Klaus? Probably due to both her age and sentimental reasons that he was still her ‘brother’, Melia must have repressed the signals.
Shaking the thoughts of Isaac off, she tried to focus on the challenge ahead. Permanent shelter, permanent shelter… Ebony had a point about the weather, especially since it was pointed out that the hail and wind was not calming down any time soon. Their group - although not large, but neither small in numbers - must have risked awaking attention by the sound of their gathered steps if they ventured out anyway. Exploring the cave further down seemed like the best option, although Ebony had her slightly worried… Maybe grassbeasts tended to sleep in tunnels?
Miles added his thoughts, keeping them on a realistic basis, before Icarus had his attention turned elsewhere. What they talked about became muffled to Melia, as she thought about the options - not because they had much of a choice. Splitting up did not seem like a good idea to suggest, so the roan filly held her tongue on that.
“What if it’s a tunnel though? Isaac and- and Him will follow, won’t they?”, Melia anxiously inquired, not completely grasping how a tunnel system worked – she had never been in one to begin with. How far would the tunnel go? What would stop the two stallions from following them and find the same path that they took? Then again, the group would be cornered either way and hoping to find more than one tunnel was probably more worth hoping than that they would be shown mercy if they stayed here. If there was a tunnel...

Grange wasn't happy with the idea of yet again going out into the dark, stormy night to find some kind of shelter away from Klaus and Isaac, but he wasn't happy with the idea of being trapped by Klaus and Isaac either. It seemed that the lesser of two evils would be to try and make it away from the pair without being noticed. That would be possible, he hoped. There was sure to be some kind of path they could follow, and it was dark, so they would be hard to spot. The sleet would mask their smell as well. But....Grange couldn't help but think of the time that Cain had dragged him into the Riddle mountains to teach the stallion - and the other horses he dragged along - a lesson. It had been snowy, steep and frigid. They had almost been dragged down the slope not once but twice. Was it really safe to attempt to cross those same mountains, even from inside a tunnel, now? Was it safer than waiting out Klaus and Isaac's plots?
Yes, it was safer, Grange decided. Cain was far less cruel than Klaus ever was, and even he had sent them into the Riddle Mountains before. What Klaus would do, Grange shuddered to think of. "Miles is right; if nothing better comes along, we can always hide back here," Grange piped up, giving his friend a small nod to let the blue roan know that Grange supported him. "And Melia, if we leave now, it will be dark and wet. Klaus is not likely to see us, and the hail will clean the air of our scents quickly. They won't be able to track us to the tunnel," he said, his tone even but not cold. Now was not the time for personal grudges.
"I say we go; if there is a tunnel, we'll be out of the elements there. If not, we can return and wait out the storm. If we need, we can grasp each other's tails in our mouths and make a train, so no horse gets lost. If worst comes to worst, we can just turn around and be headed right back for the cave." Pausing, the champagne stallion turned his eyes to Sheva. "That is, if you wish it to be so, Lady Sheva," he added, dipping his head to her. Though the mare had already said they needed to find safety, Grange had the Bachelor way drilled into him enough that he knew better than to usurp a group's leaver, even verbally.

It was hard to think with everyone discussing amongst themselves the right course of action to take, as well as trying to drown out the sadness of watching Felicity dive into the darkness, returning to her life as part of the Bachelor herd. Her crimson eyes looked out into the weather, her body still shivering from having been out there minutes before, then flicked back to Ebony who was tentatively pushing toward the back of the cave, trying to figure out if there was more to their hiding place or if it simply ended. Sheva's torn ears pivoted as she tried to listen for any sign that the cave did continue, the drip of water leaking through, the skitter of the paws of animals, but the others' voices were too apparent.
Would Klaus and Isaac bother pursuing them, Sheva had to wonder. It seemed doubtful that this group held much interest for them, but if Klaus was indeed planning on returning to the herd and taking it over again, having a band of fugitives to contend with would not be a strong start. It was better to avoid returning to them at all costs, however that meant they had to be swift and they had to be silent. Melia was right, a tunnel would be easy pickings for them if they did decide to simply follow, but going out into the weather made the mare's bones hurt at the thought. "Let's look in here, first." Sheva murmured, slipping ahead of Ebony and looking into the pure darkness that lay beyond. "Listen around for echoes, if anythin' sounds strange, let us know so we can start followin' it." She added as she summoned her courage and plunged into the darkness, her crimson eyes wide though they did not find a pinprick of light, her ears twitching at every noise. Please, let there be some way out of here... The mare thought. "Everyone grab the tail of whoever is in front of you, as Grange suggested. If it branches off in a buncha ways, we don't wanna separate." She paused to allow time for someone to grab onto her tail, and for everyone to be situated, before she edged onwards into the black.

Niya was silent for a long while. She really had little to say, and she felt strangely that her opinion wouldn't make much of a difference anyways. It wasn't that she didn't think her thoughts mattered, just that she figured were she to disagree with what the others said, her one opinion would do little against the rest. Of course, so far she strongly agreed with just about everything the others said. Anything was better than going back out in that storm in her mind. She wasn't a fan of cold weather or rain, frozen rain... That was the last thing she wanted to be out in. Even though the darkness of the caves looked frightening, at least it was dry.
Emerald green eyes were peering into the darkness as her dainty ears flicked about at all of the voices. She only partially registered most of them. When Sheva spoke though, that was when her attention came to full focus. It seemed at last the decision had been made to venture into the cave. She nodded her head in a silent reply to the spotted mare's orders and followed after her. She didn't know any of these horses more than the others, so she had no real preference who it was she stayed with. Seeing as the lady had been so kind to offer to be her partner just before, Niya decided she would join with her again. Her hooves were heavy, weighted down by the thick mud that caked to her feathers as she ambled over to the grey appaloosa and gently took a hold of her fancy tail. She was careful not to tug on it, but kept a firm hold all the same so that she wouldn't lose the mare. The last thing she wanted to do was get separated in this place. It seemed they were off again. She could only wonder where their destination would be this time.

Ebony kept staring into the darkness. Not that the molly was truly afraid..she didn't like to not see where she was going. Plus the dark equaled predators. Predators equaled dead mule. She gulped hard. The mule didn't like that idea at all. What if there was a monster in there! She shook her head. Of course there wouldn't be, how old was she, 1? Nah. Seeing the young colt jump out next to her in a defensive position, brought a smile back up to her face. Its exactly what she needed to keep her spirits high. Thank goodness for the innocent hearts. "Thank you Icarus, I'm counting on you Icarus!.." She gave the small colt a gently nuzzle on his mane.
Listening to the others Ebony feared that the other stallions may follow them as well. They sound so mean, and reckless. Too bad she didn't get to see their faces;the voices were scary enough. her thoughts interrupted by Sheva bypassing her to check the cave out. Was that their only option? Was there a way to the other side? She would never know. Ebony could only hope that this new beginning doesn't have an eruptive ending. Grange was right, the tunnels would keep them out of that horrific weather. That icy rain wouldn't be good for anyone.
Yet hearing her madame speak her ears diverted to listen to her instructions. Looks like she would have to face it. Facing the mouth of the cave she took one last look of outside. "Goodbye trees...goodbye berries, flowers...butterflies...I'll see you again.." she whispered before coming up behind Niya gently taking her tail "Excuse me.." she muttered holding onto the tail hairs. She almost smirked, but kept it low key cause of the serious situation up ahead. It almost reminded her of the conga line game she played as a filly. This was no game. She had to look strong for the young-lings. The molly offered her tail to the next horse in line. "Okies...whose next?"

Abel followed Ebony, as she gently took Niya’s silky tail hair, he grabbed Ebony’s mule tail and gave it a little tug. Grinning with a wink he muffled at her, “Leth’ss mov sith.” And with his chest he bumped at her rump to get her going. He was growing impatient of standing, he was cold from the weather outside and he wanted to move, movement would warm them up. He was glad that the group had decided to move through the cave, instead of meeting the awful weather again and the other two outside. He did not wish pain upon his brother, but he liked the thought that the sky was raining down a punishment on them two, hoping for some bigger hail pieces to hit Isaac hard on the head. Maybe it would bring his mind on a better path again. Felicity would be safe, he had told himself when the filly had ran out into the dark to fulfill her mission.
The back of the cave was dark, but also looked promising, the ground was covered with round little stones and wouldn’t give a lot of support to their hooves, he hoped the wouldn’t have to climb up or down, it would be hard not to slip on the gravel. He wished he had a gift at this point, something that would be useful. Fire manipulation would be great or any other source of light and warmth would be welcomed as well in this cave.

It was decided that the group would continue deeper into the cave, and hopefully into a tunnel system. Everyone was to get in line, and use Grange’s suggestion of grabbing hold of each other’s tails. Miles had noticed Grange’s silent support and he couldn’t help but nod back at the younger stallion. Even though Casper connected the two, Miles hoped to get to know Grange a little bit better after this whole fiasco was over. If everyone was going to be stuck with each other for who knew how long, it would be smart to know one another on more than just an acquaintance level. So far, the only horse he had butted heads with was Abel, but it had been a misunderstanding and Miles was willing to forgive and forget.
He watched the line start to form, with Sheva at the front. Niya became second, followed by Ebony and Abel. Miles looked to Icarus, swishing his black tail at his son. “Grab on. Also…” he paused to look towards Melia and the others. “Someone can share my tail with Icarus, he doesn’t take up much room.” With a quick smile towards his son, he grabbed a few strands of Abel’s tail gently and followed the line.
Icarus was quick to catch his father’s joke and rolled his eyes. If it wasn’t so hard to see, the colt would’ve just stayed by his father’s side and let someone bigger take his father’s tail. But, rules were rules and he didn’t want to disobey Ms. Sheva. He looked to Melia, seeing as she was a bit bigger than him. “Wanna share my dad’s tail?” he asked, before trotting ahead and catching a hold of Miles’ dark tail. His mother, Grange or Lotus would have to grab Melia’s tail as she was taller than him would be easier to reach.
As they traveled, Miles did what Bat-Sheva instructed, his ears on alert. Their steps seemed to echo in the quiet, and with each step it almost sounded as if they were mimicking the sound of rain splashing. Every now and again, Miles did hear a dripping sound as water squeezed its way through the ceiling above. If they got into trouble, at least he could use his gift…though what use would it be if he couldn’t see.

It calmed the roan filly to some extent to hear that the ex-leader and Isaac would (probably) be left to their own misery as the weather worsened and accordingly shielded the group – but for how long? Maybe it was time to agree with Grange however. Whether she liked it or not, he was more experienced on the field than she was and following his judgement could be a life saver since the weather outside did not allow any continued trekking. Melia glanced outside by the thought, remembering that Felicity was out there, alone.
The group quickly regrouped and offered something else to think about. Venturing into the dark had never sounded like a fun idea and somehow it felt scarier this time than when they had been on the open plain, but the exploration was vital and probably the only thing that persuaded the flaxen filly to follow the adults’ lead. With Sheva on the frontline and everyone lining up as a train of diverse coat colours and miserable manes and mud-splattered legs, Melia joined Miles and his son Icarus when the shared company was offered.
It was strange to walk behind Miles – even stranger to hold onto his tail. He was romantically close to Casper but much older than the roan filly, and the father of Icarus. She didn’t know him very well and had probably never thought much about him if he hadn’t connected to Casper the way he had, Unicorns know why it bothered her and made her say an awkward ‘thanks’ as they started to move.
Lotus had been ushered to keep close by Casper, who held onto the grey mare’s tail as they walked, and Melia offered her curly tail willingly as the wounded brood approached. Once Grange grabbed a hold of Cas’ tail, the chain was complete and everyone could slowly shuffle their way into the shadows.
Usually her eyes would adjust to the dark of the night – as it would for any other – but without any light source entering this underground world, Melia was horrified by how it was literally pitch black. Her eyes never adjusted and each step was a terrifying adventure, fearing that the black floor below would swallow her whole in any second. The humid air smelled the same by every breath but the group had yet to stop, meaning there was still hope that this was indeed a tunnel leading to someplace new.
“Make fure you dun flip, Icaruff.”, Melia murmured to the neighbouring colt with her jaws clenched to Miles’ tail hair, holding onto it for dear life. Her eyes tirelessly rolled from one corner to the other, trying to find some spot that offered any vision other than blackness. A hoof scraped against the rocky surface and she felt her hindquarter brush against the cold wall, consequently making her flinch before she returned to her senses.
“Milef?”, she asked carefully.
“The wallf are not getting… finner, right?”

Grange was glad to be at the very back of the group, as his tail was so short and stunted he doubted anyone would be able to grab hold of it and still have room to walk without bumping into his hindquarters at every step. But on the other hoof, he was not so glad to be bringing up the rear, as it meant he was most vulnerable to attack from behind. Ever since he had run into a nest of cougars and had his hindquarters shredded, the classic champagne was rather wary of being attacked from behind. But, there was nothing he could do about that now. So, he took a hank of Casper's tail between his teeth and followed the group into the darkness.
And boy was it dark. And cold. The cave air made him shiver as it pressed slimy tendrils against his skin. But at least it wasn't hailing on them. Although Grange was still not comfortable. Who knew what lived inside the cave? Perhaps something so advanced it didn't need eyes to survive in this light devoid cavern. Not to mention, Melia had a point. The cave walls were getting a little close for comfort, brushing against Grange's hide with every step he took. The stallion had never been too terribly afraid of confined spaces, but he was willing to reconsider that point as the walls touched him over and over again. Unicorns, I hope this works, Grange thought, pressing ahead. If the cave tunnel kept getting smaller, would the horses even be able to turn around? Grange sighed, supposing they would have to forge on to find out.

The molly jumped when her brother took hold of her tail. Blushing embarrassed by her reaction to his tug. "Bwrothor!" she muffled. Her rump pushed on made the mule start walking in the direction. So impatient. Yet the mule had seen the need to move forward in the line.
It looked darker the more they moved into the back of the cave. The temperature seem to get colder. At least it wasn't raining on them. Her damp hide shivered a bit to the chilly air. Since she just arrived last, she wasn't as dry.
Checking everyone behind her that clung on, Melia still looked lost from losing Felicity . "Donth worrsh dearth, Felicthy wilth beeth OK" she muffled out till another bump from her running into Abel made her go forward again. The others took a hold, good, everyone was attached!
She was thankful she was genetically built for this type of terrain though. Ebony didn't go to the mountains, but her feet was more grounded on the slick cave floor. There wasn't much sliding about going on with her. It was just like climbing on those rock walls at the ruins. NO problem at all.
Her ears kept flicking about as her tips grazed along a low part of the cave making her duck her head "Wath it, low rocth" she warned. Wasn't this getting a bit snug? Her side grazed along a cave wall. EW. What was that? She felt something crawling on her!! "Mmmmmmmmnn..." she whined softly as an insect creep over her climbing down her tail. "Bugth..Bugth..." She muffled. She was shaking not from the cold now, but from the bug that was hanging out in her tail.

Casper's heart practically stopped when Sheva stated they'd be moving deeper into the cave, her nervousness gluing her lips shut as everyone shuffled to get into a line and began to move through the darkness. She could hear nothing but the sound of her own heart beating in her chest, and hardly reacted to Grange grabbing hold of her tail; completely lost in her own mind and thoughts. 'You are okay, you're fine. Miles is here, Grange is here. Nothing can hurt you, its just some rock. You're fine.' She told herself mentally, though it did little to calm her. She had always been terrified of being trapped in small places. If she couldn't turn around she couldn't see, and if she couldn't see something could attack her and she'd never even see it coming.
Ebony's voice, though not directed at her, pulled the palomino from her mind for just long enough for a non-panicked, coherent thought to form. Casper's head shot up, her eye wide in surprise at her stupidity for not thinking of it sooner. In an instant she was focusing all of her concentration, willing herself to form at least one orb of light to light their path. After a few minutes she was able to muster only enough strength to create a single orb, but it was enough; the one-eyed mare letting out a small cry of joy as she willed the light to float up and forward to light the way.
