“…but why don’t you go play with Melia and Felicity…”
Icarus frowned. He couldn’t be any help now? What was he supposed to do with himself while his father was about being cool with the other stallions and Ms. Sheva? He watched his mother disappear into the hail, tempted to chase after her, but his legs wouldn’t move. His attention was caught as Melia called out to him. He reluctantly turned from the opening of the cave, and watched as the older filly rolled onto her back, legs kicking in the air. She commented on how dirty she was, and Icarus looked down at his own body.
Yeah, he was pretty messy too. Mud had caked to his skinny legs, some mud even made it as far as his stomach. The parts that were covered in dry mud had started to crack and it really made moving kind of difficult. “Yeah…it’s all over me too…” he replied, his voice giving away his annoyance that his mother wasn’t letting him do anything. He just had to stay by her side, and keep quiet, and not help her find herbs. He didn’t like feeling useless!
Melia’s voice, calling out someone’s name, made Icarus turn quickly and he was confronted with the sight of a mule. He tilted his head as he stared at Ebony, confused as to who she was. He felt like he should know her, and maybe he had seen her in passing, but he must’ve been too new to the herd to have gotten around to knowing the sweet heart mule of the Bachelors.
“Ms. Sheva is with the others, confronting two stallions…” Icarus replied, speaking up. “She wanted us in here…to stay out of the weather…I think she’d want you in here too. Plus…” Icarus trailed off and looked towards Lotus. “She’s hurt.”
Listening to Klaus explain himself, Miles hope that his story would’ve been more than just ‘a personal voyage’ sort of thing. That sounded like a story an Olde herd member would tell. But, maybe the ex-leader did need a look inside of himself. Who was Miles to judge? Hell, Miles always was looking for answers by turning inwards for advice and what his gut was telling him. Sheva let out a short laugh, almost mocking Klaus for his answer. Her eyes landed on him and the others before she twisted around to face the oncoming storm. Miles caught the hint and moved towards the others, not enjoying the hail now smacking his face.
‘What do you wish to do…? I don’t feel like the mares…’
She had a point. Bringing Klaus back into the herd would most definitely unsettle everything, and there would be a separation among the herd members. The mares would be the most affected, their safety and peace compromised. But, did Klaus change his opinions about the herd’s traditions and outlook on mares? He highly doubted that, but then there were only a few stallions in the herd that agreed with Miles’ personal views on how the mares were treated.
“While he may have done some soul searching, you are right to assume unrest would happen if he was brought back. I do not wish to see our herd torn apart anymore than it might already be,” Miles replied, attempting to save some face from his earlier outburst. “I do not have the experience to say yes or no, but I just want what’s best for the Bachelors…if what’s best is him to stay away, so be it.” Miles shifted his glance back to the two large figures, trying to keep at least one eye on them.

Casper's ears pinned as several others offered their assistance in helping Lotus. In truth the palomino didn't need any help; she was comfortable with her knowledge of herbs and how to treat another horse, and Lotus was only one horse after all. The last thing the appaloosa needed right now was a ton of worried mares and foals crowded around her. 'Just leave me alone.' The words echoed in her mind but refused to leave her mouth, and she managed to surprise herself at their harshness. 'I'm just a bit on edge I think...' She thought with a deep breath which was let out as a sigh.
"I don't think I need any help right now, but thank you for offering." She said softly, only loud enough for the mares who'd offered to hear. though as Casper went back to work on patching up Lotus' wounds she felt as though her skin was almost...crawling. She felt an old anxiety in her gut that she hadn't felt in a long while. This place was too small. Everyone was too close; making it too hard to think. Casper closed her eye for a moment, taking a deep breath; trying to calm her heart which was beating too quickly in her chest for comfort. 'Calm down. Calm down. You're okay.' but it wasn't really okay, as she took a shuttering breath. The air felt thick to her now; she needed to get out.
Mumbling something quickly about needing more herbs the yellow mare ducked back out into the hail; hardly feeling the ice beat against her fur and bare scars as she thankfully breathed in the chilled air. She knew she would have to return soon and keep an eye on Lotus, but for now she just needed to breathe.

Lotus blinked as a strange voice broke through their little shelter, and a dark mare plodded in. She squinted at her; she sounded young, but she looked about Lotus' age, which was disorienting -- how could their be so much of a difference between herself (angry, dissatisfied, lost) and this seemingly bright and cheerful child coming in out of the rain? It seemed impossible that they should be within a few years of each other. She stared openly at the black mule, her eyes narrowed as she tried to focus on her features through the clouds invading her brain.
Her eyes flicked from one concerned face to the next, everyone stepping up at once to heal poor, broken Lotus. She bit down hard on her lower lip to keep herself from lashing out. She wanted everyone to go away. She wanted them to leave her alone to lick her wounds. She certainly didn't want them crowding around her like flies on a carcass. She wasn't dead yet.
Lotus let out a terrible yelp as the one eyed mare began to work on her wounds. She swallowed the rest of it, biting it back, squeezing her eyes shut against the pain. She felt everything: the plants being mushed up into her gaping sores, the mare's breath against her skin raising gooseflesh along her neck. She wanted to be somewhere else. Anywhere else. No, she wanted to be gone, far away from here, racing through the hale in search of a better life. She sucked in a sharp breath as the herbs were slathered over her neck wound, and forced her eyes open. "Thanks for that," Lotus said. She meant it genuinely, but she couldn't keep a sliver of her natural sarcasm out of her voice. "Really."

Grange followed Sheva and the others away from Klaus and his band, glad to leave Isaac behind. While the stallion was not outwardly confrontational, Grange had become conditioned to the sidelong glances and sneers of Bachelor stallions who caught sight of the diamonds marring his face, and he could guess easily that it upset the brute to see them. At least he didn't do anything about it; a horse that size could stomp me flat, Grange thought, casting one last glance in the goliath's direction before turning his attention to the conversation at hand.
Listening to Miles' words on the subject, Grange thought hard about what they should do with Klaus. Surely, bringing the old leader back to the herd was a bad idea; it would incite the Bachelors, tear them apart between those who followed Klaus and those who followed Cain. But by the same token, Klaus could not be allowed to slink back into the night; he was far too dangerous for that.
Sighing, the champagne shook free an icy crust building on his mane due to the sleet and spoke. "I think....we need to take him nearer the herd. Not to them, but closer," he stated simply. "I know it sounds batty, but here's how I see it. This is not something we alone can take care of; we're mostly mares and...well...not favorites of Cain," Grange said, swishing his tail as he thought. "If anything goes wrong, all blame will be on us, and the punishment will be too. But, if we take Klaus to meet Cain....they can figure things out away from the herd. No need to drag innocents into this. But we cannot let Klaus disappear. And we cannot be responsible for dealing with him."
Grange fell silent for a second, then spoke again. "Or, we could send a horse for Cain, and bring him here." Shivering, Grange spoke again. "But if we can't turn to our leader....then I don't know how we should deal with Klaus." It was not the most encouraging of statements, but it was honest. Grange wanted to turn things over to the leader that had dumped this mission on them. Sort of a 'what goes around comes around' thing. But, if it was up to the makeshift band to take care of this, he was at a loss for as of how they should do it.

Klaus resisted the urge to audibly sigh in relief as Sheva turned away. It gave him a chance to think and to calm his nerves. It had been a while since he had been with horses of the Bachelor herd. He suddenly wondered why he had missed it so much. He was only dealing with one brood and her lackeys, and she was already giving him a headache. But the Bachelor herd was where he belong, and one of the only places he would find refuge from danger, and the revenge he so desperately saught. He just had to keep that in mind. And the key to both was standing with him alone now.
"How are you feeling?" Klaus said quietly, turning his head just enough to look out of the corner of his eye. "... Brood had it worse though..." he added absently, a small smile tugging on his lips. It didn't matter to Klaus that Isaac had made the first blow. Lotus had hurt one of the only horses still loyal to him. That made her an enemy. One that deserved a good beating from the Belgian.

"He is lying to us." Abel said plainly into the round, when they had turned away from Klaus. "He can not be trusted, when he is not telling us the truth or does anyone believe this fairy tale?" Abel glanced back disgusted at Klaus and his brother, though his heart dropped in his guts when he glanced at him. He watched Miles as he offered his opinion and Abel shook his head, "the herd will NOT be better with Klaus. Cain could be a chance to make our herd a better place, and don't tell me that anyone of you values the beatings of mares or banishing them." A hard look pressed on Miles, "Miles, what if Casper will give birth to a filly? I believe you two share a strong bond. I believe Cain could turn our traditions. You all know that the Bachelors haven't always been like this. In the past mares had been valued, it might be a long long time ago, but why couldn't we change the traditions? Why couldn't we form a new generation with Cain? Grange, you are suffering from old traditions too." He followed the fresh scar lines on Granges head. "How do you wish to bring Klaus near to the herd and also keep him from them? We have to bring the herd against him. So he won't have any chance to slither back into his old position." His eyebrows were drawn together tightly. He was certain, he never wanted to be under Klaus rule, he wanted the Bachelor herd to be a better place. For his mother, his siblings and cousins, his friends. All the mares in the herd deserved better. It was time for a change and if it was with Cain, he would stand behind his back. Abel never had cared before, but now that he had listened to Klaus' lies and had seen his brother, he knew what his goals were. He had a mission now, he wouldn't just life his live as an empty hull. He would make a difference. He had to change things and the first step was to secure Cain's reign. WC: 357 | Post 10

Miles glanced at Grange after the champagne stallion spoke, unsure of the plan the smaller horse suggested. It would be smart to let both Cain and Klaus dish out whatever beef they had without getting the rest of the herd involved, but it was very unlikely that their battle would go unnoticed. Abel’s movements caught Miles’ eyes and he listened to what Sheva's son had to say. When Abel mentioned Casper, Miles narrowed his eyes. Of course he knew what would happen. Casper would be kicked out of the herd due to her status and their daughter would be raised to take her place, until she herself gave birth to a filly. But, at the moment, Miles had nothing to worry about as the two weren't planning a second child and had their hooves full with Icarus.
The blue roan took a step towards Abel, ears pinned back. “Do not drag my family into this, Abel. I know the traditions of the herd, and I am against many of them. But, think about it. The majority of the herd is set in it's ways. We have a lot of opinions to change if any change is to happen. Don't you think I've tried voicing our opinion? I’ve seen mares getting kicked for just speaking up…” His memory of Robin getting kicked in front of Klaus, because she had been outspoken, flashed through his mind. “I’ve seen the brutal acts done to them just for sheer pleasure. I’ve watched my own siblings die because they were not strong enough to survive the marking tradition. I saw my own father kill my sister just for being born. Do not insult me, Abel. I have tried for so long, and all that happens is I get laughed at, or kicked. If there is anyone more willing for this herd to change its ways, it is I,” Miles' tone wasn’t angry, but very serious. The fact he was even bringing up forgotten memories was unusual for the private stallion, but it was serving his point. “But will change come from Cain? Sure, he’s been slack on traditions, but is he the one to really carry any form of change out? If anything, he's more of a starting point that we as a herd could build on until things are changed completely. But, as I said before in agreement with your mother, even if Klaus had a change of heart out there, bringing him back to the herd would cause unrest. I’m not an idiot.”
Miles pulled back, returning to his original distance from Abel. The stallion couldn’t help but glance over to where the mares had wandered off to, hoping they found shelter from the hail. The future of the herd rested in the young batch of horses, and he was at least relieved to know that even the younger generation had noticed the way mares were abused in the herd. He hoped Icarus would hold those same feelings; at least he was trying to instill some respect into his son. He looked to Sheva, straightening up. “After hearing our opinions, this decision rests on you. I know you’ll make the right choice.”
Icarus was suddenly bored with the fillies and the newcomer. He looked around for Casper and noticed she was leaving the safety of the cave. He trotted out after her, looking up at his mother with worry. He rarely had seen her look so uncomfortable, and it wasn’t the hail that was the source. Ignoring the beating ice, Icarus slithered his way under his mother’s belly, poking his head up from between her forelegs to stare at her scarred face, a face that was all he knew of love and attention. “Mommy…are you okay? Are you worried about daddy?” he asked, his tiny ears flopping back. “You shouldn’t be! Daddy is with strong Uncle Grange, and Ms. Sheva! They all got each other’s backs!” He hoped his reassurance was working, because he hated seeing his mother this way.

Niya's ears fell to the side some when the golden mare declined her offer to help. She had been hoping to do something, to be of some help, and here she was left useless... once again. Still, she didn't insist. She could see the tension on the mare and so she simply nodded her head and moved away. Her attention turned to the black mule and she couldn't help but smile. She was glad she was here. She'd keep the foals cheerful for sure, and who knew, maybe the rest of them. She approached them, having nowhere else to go. She supposed she would need catching up. "We found Klaus." She explained, extending her muzzle in greeting to the younger acquaintance. "Lady Sheva and the stallions are determining what they will do about this I'm sure." She wondered what it was they would decide. They wouldn't chose to bring him back, would they? She was quite sure that none of the others really liked him much... or at least weren't sure. She certainly didn't want him back. Sure, she didn't know much about Cain and so did not yet have an opinion about him, bu she felt things calming with him around, less intense in the herd you could say. Not to mention having Klaus come back just as the herd was getting used to the golden stallion's rule would only upset things more. Her gaze turned toward the darkness outside, staring into the black as if she were looking at something far beyond it. I hope they don't chose to let him return.

"Two stallions?" So those were the two other voices she heard. It was hard to put a thumb on which one was suppose to be Klaus; having to overhear that was the main objective to this scouting. Ebony had no clue there was going to be a second party. She knew Abel was going as far as stallions; the rest were just the mares. To be arguing with her madame and with an injured; it must of been serious. maybe she would peek out...ow!!..the hail hit her nose making her back out of weather.
Ok maybe not. Ebony hoped that they would make it out ok with the strange stallions present. One of them sound scary from the background. She chuckled with the snuggling greeting followed by a gasp. "You found him??...wow...is he scary looking?...I think I heard him earlier..but I didn't want the madame to catch me.." she looked nervous saying that.
Lotus looked like she was in severe pain. She had seen this kind of thing before, but she had no knowledge of the healing arts in that fashion. Simple first aid but nothing like what she was looking at. Casper seem to know what she was doing. Watching her apply the her right on the wound. Gross as it was, blood was a normal thing to see in her herd. "...It'll be alright Ms. Lotus...I'm sure Casper will heal that and you'll be on your feet in no time!..when I got hurt as a filly...Madame Sheva had me patched up in yarrow root too..it stings really bad.." making a grimace face"..but it makes you feel better later..I always squirmed when they had to keep putting more on..but Aunt Lilith told me stories to distract me..so it wasn't' that bad.." Thinking Lotus needed rest..she turned her attention the foals.
They seem to be doing well so far. They weren't babies, but they were still small enough to play with. To bring them along wasn't much of a choice...where their mothers were going they would be bound to follow. Ebony shook some of the mud off of her legs.
"I hope the rain stops raining ice...brrr!..I'm still chilly from running into it..its not fluffy like snow..." She easily got sidetracked thinking how soft the snow was. It was easy to throw in the air and not get dirty from it...except when it was yellow: learning that the hard way.
"Hey, how about a game?" She figured if she distracted the foals enough, the mothers would have a better chance of helping Lotus. It was the least she can do. "Lets play....um...um..." looking around finding a smooth stone "Hot Rock!" It was like hot potato game...without the potato "Hot Rock!" She nudged the stone to roll towards the foals and Niya.

Isaac had the appearance of a beaten dog as his mother turned away without a second glance to him, talking about him like he wasn't there. He'd really messed this one up, but what he was doing was important, especially to the proud herd that he and his mother before him were born into. Isaac couldn't sit around any longer and watch the herd devolve into some strange, alien place where mares were somehow respected members of the herd. Isaac's blood boiled as he thought of it, his teeth grinding. How dare his brother insinuate that that was how it should be? Mares were nothing but cruel and treacherous, constantly plotting how to escape their duties as slaves to the Bachelors. Were they not protected from the incursions of other herds? Were they not protected from the beasts that roamed the lands? Ungrateful, nasty, terrible excuses for horses. His heart beat a little faster as he thought of his mother in that category, and then resisted the urge to bash his head against one of the nearby trees for even doing so. Instead, he put his head down and swallowed hard. He just wanted this to be over with.
Klaus' voice filtered in, and he glanced up, olive eyes meeting with the dark crimson of his leaders'. He had always liked Klaus' eyes, they were comforting and reminded him of his childhood. "I'll make it." He said with a forced smile, though his brows were still knitted in anger and pain. "I'd sooner die than let some slave get the upper hand on me." She wasn't alone though. Burned into Isaac's memory were the faces of those traitorous stallions that had assisted her, each with the X across their face. "They don't deserve to wear it, not even that terrible diamond. We should remove their scars so they don't continue to shame our herd." He growled, standing a little straighter as he looked at their silhouettes, crowded around, whispering to one another. Casper stopped in her walking when she felt something small and warm slip under her belly, not wanting to trip and fall on the foal she knew was her son even before he stuck his head out to speak to her. "I'm just fine baby," she nickered reassuringly to him, but when he mentioned his father she couldn't help but let her expression fall a bit. She quickly glanced in the direction she knew the stallions and Sheva were in, but could see nothing through the darkness and hail still raining down on them. A shiver ran through her as she was suddenly aware of how cold it was out here; the ice assaulting her hide not helping in the slightest.
"I know, Icarus, they'll all be just fine." She murmured to him, leaning down to nuzzle the top of his head. It wasn't often that she would actually call him by his full name, usually he was 'darling', 'sweetheart', 'baby', or any other sort of nickname, but right now things were quite serious and she needed him to understand that. "I think I just needed a bit of air, let's go back inside were its safe and dry." She said, turning --though it was rather awkward to do so with Icarus under her still-- and starting on her way back to the cave. She didn't want to go back, but it was safer there, and her son was worth it.

Lotus shook her head; the clouds were clearing, and the pain was numbing. Whatever Casper had lathered on her, it was working. The ache was receding and her senses were returning to her. "Who you callin' Miss?" she muttered, with a distracted frown, her mind only half on what the dark mule was saying. She glanced out at the group, huddled together in the rain. The big horse who had rammed her -- had they called him Isaac? -- looked like a wilting flower under the spattering hale. She grinned to herself, completely satisfied with the state of things. At least she'd done some damage to him too; nobody was walking away from this unscathed, and that made her feel so good it was almost shameful. But she didn't have much a conscience, especially when it came to arses who tried to flatten her like a pancake for no apparent reason.
She stood too quickly, her head reeling for a moment as she stood on unsteady legs. She took in a deep breath and counted backwards from ten. "Any of you little scamps know a game or something to keep us busy?" she asked, leaning lightly against the wall, gritting her teeth against the slowly dulling pain. "How bout 'Eye Spy'. Do you guys do that one? 'Eye Spy'?"

The hail was truly starting to sting - it felt like millions of little stings from a million tiny wasps, pelting her flesh while some were raising welts on her softer skin, like that within her flanks. The appaloosa mare shivered as it continued to pelt down, pawing a bit with her front leg, hoping to become warm once more through movement but it was to no avail. The cold went down to her bones now - a decision needed to be made soon. Her crimson eyes flicked back and forth between the speakers, the three stallions who were huddled around, concern drawing their brows, their own bodies suffering from the damage being dealt by the weather. Abel and Miles seemed like they were going to be at each others throats soon, but she understood. It was high stress that she had suddenly plunged them into, albeit accidentally. "You know how I feel about Cain, son of mine." She murmured, glancing over in the direction of Isaac and Klaus. There was no way that black creature was coming back to the herd on her watch. Then again...would it be on her watch? She was sent away, permanently. What did that mean? She swallowed hard, the implication starting to set in. That was too much responsibility for her...but if that was what Cain wanted, she had to try. "Grange's idea seems best, we need at least one to go back and tell Cain that we have spotted 'im...but we need the mares too." Though she was desperate to have shelter again, her scars all throbbing as if they were just created, it was time to come clean.
Sheva walked toward the cave, and to her surprise, found Ebony there. A mixture of emotions bubbled up in the knabstrupper - pride that Ebony was brave enough to strike out on her own, but fear that she would do such a crazy thing, especially while danger was waiting around every corner. "As you all know, Klaus is out there, waitin' for us. At least one of us needs to return to the herd to tell Cain that he's intendin' to come back...or I suppose..." She looked back at Grange, her brows drawing. "You can talk to animals, right? We could just send one of them if no-one wants to leave. Either way, this ain't endin' good if we hang around much longer. Any volunteers?"

As Miles snapped at him by the mention of his beloved family, his ears pinned back. He had no intention to hurt anyones feelings here and Miles seemed to be over sensitive about all these matters somehow. His nostrils wrinkled back in annoyance as Miles voiced his opinion, like he didn’t knew, but he decided to better let it go, he did not seek a fight, not physical or vocal and it was not the place, nor the time. He had a point though, would Cain really bring change into the Bachelor herd? As Abel mused, his mother spoke up and he glanced over her. Cain was just a snake as Klaus, pale instead of dark, indecipherable. As he watched his mother, while she spoke, something stirred in him and something about her tough leader facade was off. He knew her, as a foal he had learned to read her, to see how far he could go with his demands and pranks. Was she holding back something? He couldn’t read her this time, he kept watching her for a while, offering a soft smile when she looked at him.
He shook off the thought, the hail still drumming on the horses. Slowly it became unbearable for him and just as the others he wished nothing more, than to seek shelter from the weather. Finally they moved towards the cave, with a relieved sigh he followed the familia spotted body of his mother. With unease, he kept glancing back at Klaus and his brother in fear they could suddenly burst away or attack them from behind. After what he had seen and heard tonight, he thought Isaac was capable of everything. When they stepped into the cave, he glanced over the horses and relieve set in him as they all were still here and Lotus still standing. He suddenly spotted Ebony and surprised he had to smile, his adoptive sister was just as old as him, but still with a free spirit, like the one of a foal. She was more Tobi’s sister then his though, they had been wonderful together as foals. One family member more was always a delight for Abel and he felt how a warm feeling was twirling inside of him, as he turned his head toward Lotus then, all patched up by one of the mares, his guts erupted and a cold sensation washed over him. He shivered as he looked at her, searching for eye contact. He was still offended by her forceful and devious escape, but he pitied her too. She had been so close to her goal and now was back in here, broken down by her brother. Impressively the sturdy mare had dealt out quite some damage on his huge brother too. Abel swallowed, he wanted to approach her and wrap himself around her, but he held back, hurt as he was, he decided to turn away from her, facing his mother again who was speaking.
Proudly Abel watched her as she acted like a leader, his mother, the first Bachelor mare to lead a group of Bachelors INCLUDING stallions. He wanted to stay with her, with the younglings and secretly he also wanted to stay with Lotus. He didn’t wanted to run through the hail and his best excuse was that he wasn’t able to run the whole night to get back to the herd. Thinking about his injury, he felt the throbbing in his chest. He would be utterly sore the next day, most likely down to the tip of his hooves. “I am staying!” He exclaimed, glancing towards Lotus again. He was forgiving so quickly, all he wanted, was to curl down to Lotus and sleep next to her the night. The thought fluttered in him like butterflies, he had asked her so many times and just as often she had refused him, insistently.

Ears perked as Casper called him by his name. Icarus rarely heard his mother speak his name, it was usually Miles doing it, and so hearing his name roll of Casper’s lips was a moment to appreciate. He grinned as the palomino nuzzled his head, giving his head a quick shake afterwards to fix his now fuzzed up forelock. Icarus nodded as his mother suggested they go back to the cave, and moved with her, trying to stay out from under her legs. He eventually wiggled out from underneath her belly, exposing himself to the icy hail. It was starting to bother him less and less as he stayed close to Casper, kicking up his heels and playing in the slippery mud.
When they made it back to the cave, Icarus noticed Lotus was now up, suggesting a game to the mares and fillies. He shook his body free of moisture, trotting over to join the others. If they were going to start a game, he might as well show those ladies who was the best!
Sheva wanted to talk to the mares about her decision, which Miles was in agreement with. He followed the spotted mare and other stallions, though staying at the back to keep an eye on Klaus and Isaac. Like Abel, he was worried about a surprise attack, though Miles was sure his gift wouldn’t be of much use as he thought about how easily Isaac took the hits and Klaus used his own gift to defend himself. Damn fire manipulators…
He was pulled back to attention as the shelter came into view. It seemed Casper and Icarus had just returned from…a walk?...and he quickly rushed to his mate’s side, forgetting about the danger that lurked in the shadows. “I’m glad you all were able to find shelter,” he said, coming up on the palomino’s blind side. He didn’t want to spook her, so he hoped his voice would give it away that he was approaching her. He reached out and gave Casper a loving nip on her shoulder as he stopped next to her to listen to Sheva.
Icarus heard his father’s voice and his attention was immediately taken by the group of stallions and Sheva entering the cave. The colt rushed over to his father, brushing up against him. “Did you guys kick butt?” he asked, his tail wagging. “Shh, not now. There is something important that needs to be decided…” Miles replied, giving Icarus a soft nudge. The colt pouted, but shut his mouth, standing between his parents.
While Sheva explained the situation, Miles glanced at the mares. They had their better days, but he was glad to see Lotus standing. It seemed someone started to treat her wounds. He couldn’t dwell on who it might’ve been when he noticed their party gained one more member. The mule slave brood, Ebony, had joined them. He was surprised to see her, but he heard she was great with foals so having her around was probably for the best. Maybe she could teach Icarus a thing or two about manners.
Sheva asked for volunteers to go fetch Cain, followed by Abel saying he was staying. As much as the two were getting on each other’s nerves, Miles felt that Abel staying was a good idea. They needed as many stallions to keep these girls safe as they could get. “I will be staying as well. I do like the idea of sending a third party animal. Who knows what Cain and his group have gotten themselves into? Plus, we are safer as a group with those two out there.” he replied, giving a quick nudge with his head in the direction of Klaus and Isaac.
