Everything had been going fine so far. Abel had not grabbed her tail like she had feared and Icarus’ attack of surprise had left Melia no harm – it had been a fun game actually, if it had not been for their mission that came in the way. They had to stay fairly quiet, but most importantly within eyesight of the group. Consequently was Icarus’ father quick to persuade the blue roan back to his position, whether he or the fillies liked it or not.
The lack of activity concerned Melia, although she did not share her thoughts with Felicity as they continued to walk. How long would they have to wander before finding Klaus? Would it be tonight or longer than that? The thought of finding the old leader had made the roan filly nervous, of course, and she knew that the younglings would lose interest in the quest eventually, including her – especially in this weather. Little could be done as the group continued to move however, and Melia tried to follow Sheva as an example by keeping Felicity entertained in any sort of conversation – just between girls, you know.
Talking helped ease her worries, but simultaneously distracted her from realizing that Abel and what’s-her-name left. She heard them trot away and probably heard them talk too, but thinking that Abel was secure enough to keep the brood sister guarded – he was a Scavenger after all! - left Melia with little attention to the two “love birds”. Felicity offered something funnier to stay focused on and Melia had just started to talk about how funny the wet ground sounded as they splashed on it- before something happened.
Hurried hoof steps were heard far away, hammering against the slippery grass and sounded like the grey mare ran across shallow water rather than firm ground as the mud and water drops whirled around her hooves. Melia had turned her head upon hearing the startling noise of another horse running, and continued to stare in disbelief as the spotted brood made her escape and blended in with the sleet the farther she ran, before the image of Abel still lying on the ground processed itself in her head.
“Abel?!”, she exclaimed both in shock and as a question to see if he would respond from such distance; hear him say whether he was okay or not. In the meantime his sweetheart had the upper lead against her capturers, unless one or both guards decided to set off after her – and that would have to be soon!

Lotus ran. Her legs had never pumped so hard. She wanted to look back, to make sure Abel was okay, to check whether or not anyone had given chase -- but she knew that the moment she looked back, she was done for. She'd slip on the sloppy ground, or she'd misstep and her hoof would be caught in a rabbit hole, snapping the bone clean in two, and that would be the end of her escape. So she powered on, despite the sleet pelting her, despite the fog obscuring her vision. She kept her eyes on the ground in front of her, leaping over protruding roots and rocks. She kept her ears trained behind her, looking for any sign that she was being followed. So far, no second set of hoofbeats. She could hear a few distant exclamations from the group, but not clearly enough to make out the words.
Panic rose in her, flooding through her brain. She let it seep out with every loping step she took. Happiness exploded through her; she hadn't run like this in so long. She hadn't seen this much open land, calling out to her, spreading before her like a welcome mat. She was doing it. She was taking control. She was finally fr--
Don't say it, she told herself. Don't jinx it. Just keep running. She focused on the sound of her hooves, the sucking, squelching sound of the muddy ground, soft from the sleet and recent rains. Before she could push it away, he invaded her brain. Abel -- she hadn't kicked him too hard. She'd measured it out carefully, hadn't she? She'd been careful not to hit him anywhere that mattered. She'd knocked the wind out of him, maybe he'd blacked out for a minute or two, but he was fine. She was certain he was fine. But she couldn't yet hear his him following her, and she was certain that he would follow her.
She forced herself to run faster, legs pounding harder, tearing out of the ground, sending clumps and sprays of mud and dirt fanning out behind her like a peacock's tail. She ran to forget, to drown out the lack of sound behind her. She ran to drown out the fact that he may not yet be on his feet, that maybe she'd hit him too hard. She'd always been strong -- her father had pointed that out to her every day, and not proudly. He'd called her 'sturdy', the word sounding sour in his mouth. Mares were supposed to be elegant and pleasant. She was sturdy.
She enveloped herself with thoughts of her true family -- the two brothers, out there somewhere, waiting for her, with no idea what had happened to their little sister. The two brothers who adored and cared for her, the only ones who'd loved her for who she was. She was going to find them. She was going to find them. Abel was fine, and she was going home, finally, after two long years.

Casper was content to simply trot alongside Grange as they made their way through the sleet still cascading down on them. She really needed time to think, and it seemed her friend did as well, so the silence between them was comfortable. It wasn't long until she was completely lost in her thoughts, her mind working through everything she knew --or could figure out-- about the task at hand. She knew for a fact they were trying to hunt down Klaus. That in of itself wasn't troubling to her; she had spoken to Klaus, alone, before. She knew he wasn't bad, and she had seen him vulnerable. She just didn't understand why he had left...or why Cain wanted to find him for that matter. She didn't exactly trust what Sheva had said, not because she didn't trust the older mare, but because she didn't trust that whatever Cain had --or perhaps hadn't, Casper didn't know-- told her was the truth. In short: she didn't trust Cain, therefore she didn't trust anything he wanted.
Her mind wandered then to her family as she stole a swift glance to Miles and Icarus. She hoped that whatever it was they were meant to do once they found Klaus that it wasn't dangerous. Surely Cain would have the sense not to send Foals --especially not ones as young as her son-- on a potentially life-threatening mission? 'Maybe he's just keeping us out of the way...' Casper wasn't sure where that thought had come from, nor exactly what it would be that Cain would want a large group of mares, and foals, out on a wild goose chase for.
Casper was brought from her thoughts at Grange's words, tripping slightly at she was suddenly aware of her own legs again. Her ears perked as she watched Grange canter away. 'Someone's running?' She thought, alarm starting to rise in her as she swung her head around; squinting with her one blue eye into the darkness, trying to pick out who had disappeared. She couldn't see very far, but when she turned back she could only count eight horses still within the group. Pinning her ears, Casper glanced back over to Miles, wondering if he'd be sent to drag the poor mare back to the group. She knew he would only be doing his job --same as Grange had in informing Sheva-- but that didn't mean that was something she wanted to see happen.

Eight years...had it truly been that long? Sheva sighed internally, wondering how time could fly so quickly, how she couldn't have realized the long-suffering of this mare beside her. Sheva's brows furrowed a little bit as she began to answer, but then everything happened at once. Melia's shriek of 'Abel' put an arrow straight through her heart, and her eyes flashed wide, her ears perked up to hear his response, though none came quick enough. "Abel?!" Sheva cried out into the sleeting blackness, forgetting poor Niya for the moment, worry streaking through her, colder than the ice that was pelting down on her now. As she started galloping full bore, Grange approached her from the side, calling out to her, mentioning something about an escape. "Someone's running... Grange called, though no orders were issued after it. She was leader here, she was queen. Sheva suddenly felt sick as her mind flashed back to her meeting with Cain.
"Bring the weak, the innocent, the suffering." Cain told her, turned away from her completely, though as he glanced back at her, curled ears flopped back against his poll, his eyes weary and strained. He was tired, the planning was taking its toll. "I mean no offense," Sheva had replied, her expression clearly confused. "But why do you want the weak and suffering to go on a man hunt? It makes no sense, sir." Cain wasn't known for being illogical, no much the opposite. He would sacrifice others' emotional states for the logical conclusion. "You may choose to look for Klaus if you wish to bide me time, or you can pass him by. Either way, I don't expect to see you again." He said, turning towards her, staring her down in that way he had, which chilled her to the bone. Was...he sending her to her death, and she was supposed to choose those who she pitied enough to allow the same? Subconsciously, her back hooves started to inch back away from him, but he did not advance. "Take them away from here. I will assist as I can after this mess comes to some conclusion." He said finally, before pivoting and walking away from her. "Oh, and take Grange, will you?" He called back, before his elites swarmed and he was on to another mission.
She shook her head, as if waking from a dream. Why was the memory so cloudy before? Her lips moved of their own volition, her mind still seeking to keep up: "Let her go." Her voice was as serious as anyone had ever heard the fun, free-wheeling mare's to be. "Find my son."

Noise to his left alerted him to something...strange happening. He glanced over at his traveling partner, metaphorical hackles raised as he waited for the order to approach, which was granted quickly and silently. He left the other's side, his eyes scanning through the scattered trees for the source of the noise. Voices were heard from the south, and his ears flashed back against his poll - this was nothing he had anticipated, though to be honest anticipation was not his strong suit. But he was on the hunt now, and the voices were gone, filtered out by the sound of blood rushing through his ears, excitement and rage amping up his adrenaline.
Then, he caught her scent, and his eyes narrowed as his nostrils widened to inhale it, feed upon it, devour it. He did not enjoy the hunt, but it was necessary to his state of mind. He needed it to keep sane, to allow others to suffer as he did internally. Face expressionless, his ears pinned back, his large hooves carried him toward the mare, pounding the earth faster and faster, mud coating his legs and sides as he drove through it mindlessly, purpose leading his motions rather than consciousness. There she was, grey spotted coat flashing with the driving sleet and slivers of moonlight. And there he was, draft frame running as fast as his treetrunk legs could carry him, straight into her right side, sending them bowling over one another, slamming down into the dark earth, blood leaking from his nose, her own splattered across his scarred face. Prey captured, if it still breathed.

Miles’ opinion on being assigned to the “Look for Klaus” team was one of indifference. He was here due to his failures in the first battle, and letting an Olde mare best him. He wasn’t going to be useful in whatever tasks Cain had set up for the rest of the herd, and was probably best at staying by those who needed more than one pair of eyes on them. If that’s what their leader wanted, so be it. Miles was going to prove himself one way or another.
Moments after Miles hushed his son, he noticed Niya turn her head. Her action was followed by Grange, and then the little filly, Melia. Pinning his dark ears back, Miles looked in their direction, noticing a flash of darkness rushing away. They were right. Someone was running, and if he had any guess on whom it was since Abel and Lotus had gone off on their own…
Grange’s voice brought the blue roan stallion back to attention, followed by Sheva’s instructions to leave Lotus to run off and find Abel. Miles gave Icarus a soft nudge, pushing him towards his mother. “Stay by your mom. I’m going to find Abel.” He instructed, looking at Grange shortly after. “If you can, come along; if not, keep those still here safe.” he announced to the champagne, before double backing to the point where Abel and Lotus had broken off from the group.
Icarus looked annoyed as he came to Casper’s side, glancing up at her. “Why can’t I go with him? I thought we were supposed to be in teams?” he asked, obviously unhappy with the fact he was being left behind.
Abel and Lotus’ tracks were hard to find, as the sleet was doing a good job of cleaning up after the two. It took Miles a few moments to find them, annoyed that he wasn’t a better tracker; though once he did find the tracks he followed them to the best of his ability. A few minutes later, Miles noticed a figure lying on the ground feet in front of him and he picked up his pace. The body happened to be Abel! Miles blew some of the sleet off of the fallen stallion, before nudging Abel with his legs. “She did you in good. Your mother is worried about you, come on before something worse gets to you.” He said, giving another good nudge into Abel’s back.

Everything was happening so quickly, Niya could hardly keep up. First the escaping mare, then the calls to Abel, then Grange came running toward her and Sheva, and in the next instant the spotted mare was no longer by her side but galloping off toward the scene. Not sure what else to do Niy quickly ran after her. Large hooves suctioned into the mud, making it hard for her to run properly. Her legs strained to keep her heavy body moving, to keep her from being sucked into the mud like the quick sand it attempted to be. Her gaze lifted up to the quickly escaping mare and part of her wished to join her, while the other part hated to put such stress and worry on the Lady Sheva. After all, it wasn't her she wanted to run from, nor the other mares who had become such lovely friends to her, but the stallions... and not even all of them. Mostly she longed to be home, more so than she was her longing to escape was the drawing to return to those she loved, those who raised her... to her family.
Her heart's desires were suddenly interrupted though when she caught sight of a large form thundering toward Lotus in her escape. Another Bachelor? Had they been followed? She hardly had time to consider the answers to these questions though when suddenly the huge body rammed straight into the smaller mare, causing them both to fall into the mud, disappearing from her sight. As they hit the ground, Niya hit the breaks. Her hind legs dug underneath her, kicking mud up into her belly and all around as they skid in the wet mes all while her front legs bounced several times to keep her from falling face first. Finally at a full halt she tried to call out. To whom she didn't care, Sheva, Lotus, one of the other horses, anyone really, but her voice failed her. She felt as if she'd choke on her own heart, which surely was in her throat by now. At the momentum they had both been moving... she didn't want to consider what sort of damage that would have caused.
Had no one else seen them fall? They were far away, of this she was aware... so much so that all she had seen were two shapes crashing into each other. One of them had to be Lotus though. She'd been running that way moments before. Everyone else seemed so distracted by finding Abel who had vanished from sight, but Lotus could be hurt! Oh no. Was her only thought before instinct kicked in, triggered by her caring heart. Before her mind could try and put everything together she'd leaped forward into another full-blown gallop through the mud and sleet toward where the two had just fallen. All that was on her mind was making sure they were alright... if they were even still alive. This thought frightened her even more and pushed her on to run faster, faster, FASTER! Not paying any mind to the other horses she flew past Abel and Miles, not even seeming to see them.

One moment she was flying over wet ground, eating up the landscape under her hooves -- the next there was a huge thud. For a moment she wondered what on earth it could be, and then there was nothing but pain. Something sharp digging into her barrel, something wet gushing from her side. She was falling, and all she felt was mud beneath her, and something heavy and solid on top of her. And then crack! And the world blurred. Her head ached, throbbed, and burned all at once. She wondered why; it took a moment before she realised she'd smashed it hard against a stone, that it was probably bleeding. She was seeing bursts of light in front of her eyes, blurred shapes and darkness. She tried to blink it away. She could hear sounds in the distance, all as though she were underwater. Gurgling voices, someone breathing as though through a loudspeaker (not her, she realised, releasing the breath she had been unaware she was holding). It felt like an eternity had gone by, and still the starbursts flowered in front of her, obscuring her vision.
Get up, she snarled at herself, realising someone had pursued her after all. She wouldn't let them win; she refused to let them get the better of her. But everything hurt, and the warmth spreading over her side and out from her temple were starting to worry her. Was it blood? Obviously; what else would it be? Get UP, she commanded herself, and this time, her aching, screaming body obeyed.
She pulled herself to her feet too quickly, setting her throbbing head reeling. She braced herself, her head pounding, her side nothing but stabbing pain and that warm, tingling sensation of blood loss. Everything hurt. But her father had been right -- Lotus was sturdy. She was stubborn, determined, and she was angry. She was not a lady, and she had never been more pleased about that than right now.
She snarled, her lip curling up like a rabid animal's, baring her teeth at the body that had connected with hers. He was nothing but a vague outline against her blurred vision. She winked the tears out of her eyes, brought on by the hurt and entirely unwelcome. She couldn't remember the last time her world had been nothing but pain. "Well, that was fun," she told him with a snarl, struggling to see who it was through her only working eye, despite the fact that 'working' was an overstatement at the moment. Panic gripped at her as she realised she was virtually blinded -- a sharp sound was ringing like a bell in her ears, bringing the sounds of the world back into focus. She was favouring her left side; whoever this was, he was built like a tank. Not Abel then. Probably not Miles. Maybe Grange, but that didn't seem right.
She let out a low growl, like a dog. "Who are you?"

Abel
A soft breeze swirled around Abels nostrils as he stood at the shore, watching Ephraim chasing the waves, galloping through the water and taking leaps over the foam. A sea bird was squawking above their heads, circling in the bright blue sky. His little brother was racing towards him, rearing impressively next to him, pounding his hooves into his back."It hurts Ephraim." He said to the colt that just smacked him once more into the back.
"I said it HURTS!" Abel bellowed as he startled up and his legs scrambled in the mud, without any orientation. The sky was dark and the ground was wet, cold and slick. Irritated Abel looked around as he spotted Mile's nose next to him, he glanced up into the scarred face of the roan. He had to get up. His legs once more pushing into the dirt, heaving up his body out of the mud. He gritted his teeth as a sudden pain flashed through his chest and he gasped for air. The appaloosas body was smeared with mud, his mane tangled and caked. As he stared out into the starry sky and the blackness of the horizon, he remembered.
"LOTUS!" He yelled into the darkness and without looking at Miles, he tried to start off into an gallop, but was quickly turned down by the pain that made him stumble over his front legs and almost hitting the sloshy ground again. His head ripped up in hysteria and he stared back at Miles now. "Where is SHE, where did she go?!" Furious he growled at Miles, as he limp-trotted forward into no known direction.
It took him some meters to realize what just had happened. He stopped trembling as the pain in his chest was pumping under his skin and his mind felt like an roller coaster. Had she actually just kicked his lights out to flee? Had she seriously used him, just to run off? Something else started to hurt in his chest, a clenching feeling that spread into his guts. An frustrated groan escaped him, as he saw his mother approach from the corner of his eye. He turned towards her, straightening up for her to appear as nothing had happened. He knew she would be worried, "I'm fine. Nothing happened." He rasped, fighting his expression not to twitch, sticking his nostrils forward to receive some possible comfort from her.
Still his mind raced. WHERE DID SHE GO?? He had to get her back. Did Grange go after her at least?

Casper couldn't help the wave of relief that washed over her when Sheva ordered for them to leave the mare to run. Worry began to coil in her gut yet again, though, as Miles moved off to find Abel. She leaned down to nuzzle Icarus closer to her side snorting softly at his complaints, "Your father and Grange are partners now," she explained before pulling playfully at his ears with her teeth, "don't you want to be partners with your poor mom? You'll hurt my feelings." Despite her light and joking tone, Casper was still concerned, glancing up yet again. This time her heart nearly stopped.
Looking out into the distance again she was able to catch sight of the mare who had been running; just in time to see her get plowed over by something very large. Casper couldn't tell exactly what it had been, but it was most definitely dangerous and it was far far too close for comfort. Ears lying flat she stopped, moving to stand in front of her son to stop him as well, "Icarus, stay close to me." Her voice was calm and even, hiding her sudden fear; more for Icarus' sake than anything. She fought the urge to simply stand over the small colt to protect him as she cast her gaze back out once more, this time searching for her mate and Grange. When she couldn't locate them she looked around at the other members of the party; just as one of the other mares --Niya, Casper thought-- flew past. The palomino opened her mouth to call out to her, but it was pointless.
'What did you send us into Cain?' Casper thought helplessly, unsure of which way to go from here. Moving on could lead her --and Icarus-- straight into danger, and turning back could just as easily do the same. All she could really do now was stay and wait for Miles and Grange to return and she finally caved in, stepping forward to stand over her son; ready to protect him with her life if she had to.

‘I said it hurts!’ Abel screamed as he woke up, his legs kicking frantically in the mud taking him nowhere.
Miles jumped back at the sudden movement, giving Abel the room he needed to get up. The other appaloosa called out for Lotus, and Miles watched as the stallion attempted to chase after her. He shook his head as Abel tripped over his own legs. Soon, the other was turning and yelling at him. Giving Abel a stern look, Miles approached. “She ran off. I’m not sure to where, but she couldn’t have gotten far,” he explained, pointing with his head at her tracks.
“Your mother also told Grange and I to let her go, so it’s best to follow her orders and…” he started, but stopped when Niya rushed by. Was she escaping too or was she going after Lotus? He let out a hefty sigh, hoping Icarus wasn’t going to be the next horse he was going to see. “But, it seems to have fallen on deaf ears…”
Icarus suddenly felt bad about complaining about being with his mother at her words. “No, mommy…I like having you as my partner now! Uncle Grange and daddy make an awesome team. I will keep you safe mommy!” he said, wiggling his tail. “And Melia and Felicity too!”
While his mother stood, trying to figure out what she was going to do, Icarus pranced around her in the mud, finding some slight enjoyment in getting messy. He wasn’t aware of what everything that was going on meant, and clearly didn’t want to know. Casper said something, pulling Icarus from his mud playing, and he nodded. “Yes mommy.” He replied, before the palomino mare stood over him. It was comforting, and he looked to the two fillies.
“Don’t stand there by yourselves, you’re grassbeast bait!” he teased. “Come over and have some company while we wait for the others.”

Felicity
The filly squealed when Sheva had nipped at her small ear. Giving Felicity a sort of tickle thrill from it, but her attention was now elsewhere. As best she could she tried to keep up with Melia. Keeping close to her as though her life depended on it. From the sounds of things, that was going to be important. Though some of the group looked completely calm, others seemed...tense. Was this suppose to be a dangerous "outing" or one of a peaceful nature? Felicity wasn't sure if she was suppose to be worried or casual about the whole thing. Her blue eyed peered to those she had no name for, but tried hard to remember them if their name was given. However, the only one who she managed to recall was Abel as he had went for her tail. Telling her that if they didn't stay close that the grassbeast would get them. Yeah right! Felicity nuzzled close to Melia. Giving her a very late bit of affection in return for her own before turning to look at Abel. Narrowing her little brow.
"I'm not afraid of grassbeasts....they won't be afraid of me either. I bet the moment they met me they'll be friends...and then....then I'll sick them on you," Felicity retorted back to him then stuck her tongue out at him. Then chuckled as Melia tried to kick at him. Which only fueled Felicity's own eagerness to show off and do as Melia did. Just like a little sister would. But, like a good little filly that she promised her father Ghost she soon calmed down and remained quiet while the group continued on their trek.
While walking, Felicity would use her gaze not to look about her, but to actually look for little bugs and things. Stomping through the mushy, wet ground was annoying and sapped some of the young one's energy. So it helped to think that bugs and whatnot were struggling as well. Her lower legs were no longer showing off her white markings, but coated them with mud and various small debris. Gross! Felicity liked to keep clean, and mud...wasn't clean, but at least it matched close to her brown coat. No thanks to the sleet that made it look so much darker than normal. It almost looked as though she was a whole different filly!
Suddenly her daydreaming, and looking for small critters was abrupted as Melia called out for Abel. Wait what?! Felicity's ears perked up and her eyes went wide. Glancing around quickly to see what was going on. Legs kicked up into a faster pace. As if prepping her to run if need be. With the scene unfolding, Felicity huddled close to Melia. Hooves constantly moving. What was happening?! Finally the filly realized what had happened while she was out of it. Oh dear. As Abel called to her and Melia; the young filly pouted her lips some. This little scary moment was not funny, and to joke about the grassbeasts again only made her more unamused.
"Like I said to Abel...they'll be on my side and I'll send them on your big round butt too if you keep joking about grassbeasts," Felicity snorted yet had a playful sort of expression on her face afterwards. So lady-like! not. Ghost would probably not be happy to hear what his daughter was doing while on a serious mission.

Immediately Sheva butted her muzzle against her son's as he lifted his face to hers, concern knitting her brows and a frown drawing across her usually smiling face. This was too much responsibility...what was she to do, when things were already going wrong? Her son, who she endangered with this task. Sheva had misjudged Lotus - she had seen that she was a firey spirit, and that her son had a fondness for her, but nothing more, and now he was injured. She draped her neck over his and pulled him closer, not being afraid of any embarrassment she might have caused him, her lips drawn into a line. She looked at Miles, and then to Grange, trying to draw some strength from the situation. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw something streak past - Niya! Was she off too? Sheva whipped around, following the mare in her sight. She had let Lotus go, it would be hypocritical to make Niya stay if that's what she wanted. Cain made it clear that he did not intend to see them again, so if they scattered, perhaps that was the best way...was that what she was here for? To release the mares to the wild, with males to protect them? Escorting them to their new homes, perhaps to integrate? Her nerves were shot already, and she shook her head. Though the message was cryptic, and finding Klaus was only a task that she could do 'if she wanted to help'. She did want to help, as she was determined to be his staunchest supporter. She had known the mare who raised him, and knew that she would not dare raise a monster. Would she?
There was no time for this. "Let her go too, keep searching for Klaus." Sheva announced to the darkness, looking at Casper with a serious gaze. The only other adult mare left, she wondered if she, Miles, and perhaps even Grange would be gone too. Yet there was something off. She followed Casper's line of sight into the darkness, where Niya was running to directly, and there was movement there. That was their destination, Whatever it was needed to be investigated. "No, follow me, everyone!" Sheva yelled, before whispering to her son, "Can you manage? I don't know how far we have left to go..." 'I don't know what I'm doing.' She added in her mind, wishing she had some guidance, or really anything from the cryptic stallion.

His ears were ringing from the impact - though he had caught the mare, alone, helpless. He had done what he needed to do, for his own sake at least, though the creature still spoke to him. Dazed, her voice sounded as if it were far away, filtering through some sort of fabric, but determination willed him to gather his thoughts and make his response. He lurched onto his feet and shook out his pelt, long wavy mane shaking as well before falling limp on his neck, clinging there, making him look like some sort of hulking monster, an equine turned Quiverback. He did not dignify the mare with words, instead he lunged at her, his mind working on a single track - the hunt for blood, for revenge.
He clamped his teeth around her thick crest as he launched himself blindly from his powerful hindquarters, his one leg hitching over her back, the other missing any sort of support, causing him to stumble though his teeth only sunk in further, seeking for blood and bone. The coppery scent of his own blood acted as fuel to his furious drive - he was Bachelor through and through, but for now he could only be considered a rogue to an unknown cause. The herd was tainted, and needed to have the virus removed. Any individual in his path was simply an obstacle to be destroyed.

Seems to be going well...
Or, everything seemed to be. The pair of mysterious stallions froze simultaneously, the wind carrying voices to their ears. The larger of the two glanced at him, and he nodded. A silent decree of trust and permission. In a heartbeat, his companion took off over the grass, heavy hooves pounding. Alone for a moment, he paused before sighing. So much had happened. So much left to happen. This was the determining moment. Shaking his head, he charged in the wake of the stallion before him.
It was only moments after Lotus had been barreled over that he arrived to the scene. His partner's aggression was rolling off him in waves, and it was clear to see that he was out for blood. The newest arrival paced and stomped a short distance away, energized from the run and adrenaline of witnessing the attack. It was clear the mare couldn't make either of the two stallions out. He snorted in amusment.
But the mare wasn't alone... and the sound of yelling in the distance confirmed that. The second stranger perked his ears and stopped. Brows pinched, he was suddenly aware of how easily this was getting out of hand. "Wait. More are on their way," he warned his partner, who was still busy on dealing just punishment to the disrespectful wench.
