[ Xavier | Overseer ] Find them. Find them all.
So let it be written, so let it be done.
Xavier stood upon the brink of the Forest of Giants, his icy gaze narrowed to mere slits as he searched between the dark, shrouded trees, as if he expected the mortals to show themselves willingly. Willing or unwilling, they were coming back to face the Compromiser. Their King had been merciful enough to allow the mortals to remain as long as this, but no longer. It was time they faced their reckoning. Thought how they had managed to evade them for this long was surprising. . .
Though Xavier was not especially keen on fighting the pitiful things, he would do what was necessary, and without question. He thought of Illoue, how she was safe back at home with her father, protected by other guards. While he wasn't excited about that either, at least she was safe. He trusted his fellows to do what was asked of them, his jealousy aside. Glancing towards the chimeric horse at his side, Xavier whispered cautiously, "Grid or charge?" then motioned towards the forest with his nose. "How do you think it would be best for us to approach this? I doubt the mortals will see us coming. . . but strategy is always helpful, in the end." [ 217 words ]

Pippin rolled his eyes, careful to direct his face so that the royal wouldn't see his irate expression. He was never comfortable around royals - be they lesser of full blooded. Being next to the grey stallion made his skin itch, but he was happy to know that the adviser was as straight and to the point as he'd need. Perhaps they could find these mortals fast and return home and he could continue his quiet existence on the crescent.
"I doubt the mortals would" he commented, "but they have the witch on their side.... its hard to say if they have the upperhand with her to guide them" the thought of the witch made him nervous. She was the reason they had to hide and protect themselves on the small island that was the crescent. If she was powerful enough to break the seal that Valraldic had created - he shivered again. The thought scared him too much.
"But if we can separate them from the witch... I'm sure we can funnel them to the land bridge, and onto the crescent. At that point there will be no escape"

[ Xavier | Overseer ] The dappled stallion eyed Pippin thoughtfully, thinking over what he'd said before returning his narrowed gaze to the massive trees before them. . . How the witch had managed to attain such power would always be a mystery to him- and probably to the whole of Aphelion as well. "Well," he murmured, "you speak truth, friend. There's nothing else for it but to charge in and try to fulfill this mission." With a lurch in his movement, the stallion was trotting forwards, long legs eating up the ground beneath him easily. Though they had managed to evade them for this long, with the search parties already in motion, these lone mortals were bound to leave a trail behind them. . . they couldn't be as careful while on the run, it was the classic expectation of the hunter to it's prey. Wear them down until they slip up, and then, once they've reached their weakest point, you pounce, swooping in when they least expect it and take them.
Hunting these horses would be no different than hunting predators that threatened the lives of the few tiny foals the herd had been blessed with. Though he himself had never actually encountered any of these mortal beings, so he knew little of their habits or actions. Childishly, he wondered if they were that different. . . well, obviously they were less powerful, there was no doubt about that. The Aphelion horses possessed the vast majority of the magical energy in Chevalin, but somehow, these others must have found a way to gain it as well. . . it was a mystery indeed. "This is probably a ridiculous question, but, have you ever encountered a mortal before?"
