Lies, lies. Amber refused to believe it. She made a show of raising her head as one of the so called unicorn approached her, trying to look down at her. She had promised herself once leaving Olde that she would bow her head to nobody like that again. Nobody was above her, so she always held her head high and no demon was going to change that. Her voice was icy as she replied. "The great compromiser brought order and law. Unicorns are good beings, pure in their intentions. They would mean no harm to others. You're nothing more than demons in a unicorn skin." She looked at Ezra who seemed keen on keeping resistance just like her. She willed for him to keep at it and not disclose any further explanation than that the whitch was not with them. She could see it now. The Ba'yagu was a true unicorn and she warned them against these demons who were not.
Suddenly insects came, attacking one of the unicorns. Amber didn't know who was responsible, but the attack made her smirk, tensing her muscles to move if one of her companions decided to start something. Her moment of pride in her fellow mortal horses was shattered though as...Ozzer was it? As he suddenly called for surrender. Amber made a point out of stepping away from him. "Traitor," she hissed, before calling:" Don't be a coward, they are evil! I don't think they're up for a chat. They're preaching about laws broken that aren't ours, aren't they breaking our code?!" She supossed it was to keep the others from caving like the ugly horse did. She wanted her freedom and needed allies for that. Even now she had still to figure out how to get away, but one thing was for sure: if she went down, it'd be kicking and screaming. She had already given too much.

[Elona//Aphelion Unseelie//Mare]
"The great compromiser brought order and law. Unicorns are good beings, pure in their intentions. They would mean no harm to others. You're nothing more than demons in a unicorn skin."
"Ha! If that's what you need to believe to help you sleep at night, then by all means, keep living in your delusional world, mortal. I am as much a unicorn as the compromiser is." Elona smirked as the words slipped from her mouth. She was enjoying this. The fear. The denial. It was wonderful. These mortals would answer for their crimes, and it would be glorious. "Come with us and meet the 'Great Compromiser' for yourself. If he's truly as benevolent as you believe him to be, you have nothing to fear, now do you?"
"I surrender! I agree to speak with your King. He will hear me out, and he will come to the understanding that these 'crimes' are no more mine than any of yours."
"It's good to see at least one of you has a working brain." Elona said, smirking slightly as the small jack stepped forward after he finished speaking. Maybe some of these mortal weren't as dumb as they looked. "Anyone else care to come along without a fuss?" She asked in an almost sing song voice, staring at the other three mortals as the reddish mare hissed her protests. "Traitor!" She screeched. "Don't be a coward, they are evil! I don't think they're up for a chat. They're preaching about laws broken that aren't ours, aren't they breaking our code?!"
"We did not trespass on your territory and wreak havoc in your lives. It was you. You who invaded our homeland. You who destroyed that which was sacred to us. You who have insulted our king. If you didn't want to answer to our king for breaking laws in our home, then you should have never come!" Elona's voice bellowed as she confronted the mare. Did she truly believe that they would would be allowed to waltz through Aphelion, breaking laws left and right, without consequence? "I am done playing your silly games." The unicorn stepped forward, her voice growing dark. "Now get moving." She snarled, lowering her head, preparing to prod the mortals along if necessary.

It took several minutes of stomping and head shaking to dislodge the summoned insects, their stings ranging from a mild annoyance to burning pain. It would have been a reasonable distraction under most circumstances; the biting bugs were assaulting his nose and eyes, effectively shattering his focus. But the mortals were tired, their limbs surely aching from the exhaustion of their chase - and he had two vicious unseelies at his side. Valiant as the effort was, it ultimately served no purpose beyond making the golden Overseer angry.
With the last of the insects thrown and crushed beneath his pale hooves, Alistair turned his furious gaze upon the group, eyes flicking from one face to the next. Fear, determination, indignation, resignation. Alistair took a bet and set his sights on Ezra, charging the spotted stallion with the speed of his gift. He caught the Loner against the blunt curve of his horn, the Quiverback's blood smearing across Ezra's fur as he powered into him with the force of a freight train. It wasn't enough to down him instantly, and for several tense seconds they scuffled, a whirlwind of teeth, hooves, and the lethal promise of the unicorn's twin horns. Alistair had the advantage: he was trained, and he had not spent the last half an hour running for his life. Even so, he found it difficult to take Ezra down. Mortals, it seemed, had a strong will to survive.
But down he did go in time, falling on his back in the grass with Alistair's hoof at his throat, applying just enough pressure to stress the windpipe. The Overseer was dimly aware of a surrender, delivered with a strange shade of defiance. There was no time to contemplate the implications before the chestnut was ranting again, spitting nonsense that felt dissonant to his ears. Alistair turned to her and, without relenting the pressure on Ezra's windpipe, snarled a response. "Fool mare, look around you. You've become so deluded by fairytale that you ignore the words spilled from a unicorn's lips. Be silent and do as you're told, lest I find a reason to etch scars into your hide. Do you understand?"
His gaze returned to the mortal beneath him, eyes narrowing to slits. His face still burned. "And you. Surrender," He said, and eased some of the pressure so that Ezra could speak, "or I'll leave your corpse to the insects."
((Sorry if this post is hard to understand, I am SO TIRED RIGHT NOW, OH GOD. Also just in case anyone's worried that Alistair will bodyslam their poor mortal at random, rest assured that Oasis gave me permission to mistreat Ezra. :'D Poor baby))

[EZRA]
Ezra listened to Ozzer surrender to the unicorns with shock, he wasn't expecting the little donkey to give in so easy. But that means there was now one less mortal to fight against the unicorns which evened out the odds to three to three causing an uncomfortable feeling inside Ezra. As soon as the dunalino freed himself of the insects Ezra could feel himself being pushed back with the side of one of the unicorn's horns and he refused to fall down and become vulnerable to this monster. He tried his best to stay on his feet against the unicorn and the constant threat of his two pointed horns, but running all morning and the quiver back chase had left him drained of energy. Unwillingly the dark stallion's body fell to the ground with a relentless, almost suffocating, pressure on his neck dealt from the unicorn's hoof that he could not escape despite a few attempts.
Ezra followed Alistair's gaze to Amber, she wanted her freedom as much as Ezra did but he was beginning to fear they would not make it off the island. If these unicorns were anything like Ba'Yagu they had multiple, powerful gifts and 3 mortals would have no chance against the immortals. The pressure on his throat eased slightly and he replied to the unicorn's threat with a deep and raspy voice, "Oh don't do that, I'll just send them to you." Immediately the pressure was returned to his throat, moderately stronger. With a heavy heart Ezra mouthed the words, "I surrender." unable to use his voice.

Amber decided to ignore the unicorn's taunts. "Like I believe anything you say," she snapped. The initial fear of seeing the golden horned demon overpower Ezra soon made way for anger. She was so angry with these monsters for coming here and thinking they could force their stupid 'laws' on them. They didn't do anything wrong and they were sourly mistaking if they thought she was just going to walk along quietly and do what they say. "This land isn't yours. The land is its own and everyone who walks on it,"she hissed, pinning her ears down as much as they could. She was about to go and try kick the one holding Ezra down in the face, to help the latter escape, but then he surrendered too. Her heartbeat picked up, now their chances went down even more. She couldn't wait. Hoping they were too confident to expect anyone to make a break for it now, she suddenly turned, sprinting of as fast as she could. She passed Tierra, the only other mortal left not to turn themselves in, yelling for her to run too. She silently hoped that the other mare would make it as well as that the demon's horns would catch on a branch or something, anything to help her get away.

[Elona//Aphelion Unseelie//Mare]
Elona watched in amusement as Alistair leapt forward, tussling with the dark mortal before inevitably pinning him to the ground. The stallion seemed to put up quite a fight, but even still, the unicorn was much more suited for fighting than his mortal counter part. Alistair seemed to linger for a moment, his horn firmly against the young stallion's neck as he addressed the red mare he continued to spit out nonsense. "Fool mare, look around you. You've become so deluded by fairytale that you ignore the words spilled from a unicorn's lips. Be silent and do as you're told, lest I find a reason to etch scars into your hide. Do you understand?" Elona turned her attention to the mare, watching her reaction carefully. Any fear she once had seemed to melt into something more aggressive as she spoke out again. "Like I believe anything you say. This land isn't yours. The land is its own and everyone who walks on it."
Elona sighed heavily, a sinister smile creeping onto her lips once more as the boisterous mare made a break for it, calling to the pale mortal nearby to follow suit. The little paint glanced back at her companions with a sly grin plastered on her face before bounding into action, chasing the ruddy mare for all she was worth. Her injuries sent fire through her being as she ran, but she pushed it aside, attempting to ignore it. She was faster than this mortal, and she knew the territory better, that would definitely give her the upper hoof in this situation. Her thoughts wandered to Alistair's earlier plan. All she had to do was stay on the mare's trail and corral her toward the land bridge. Yeah, a fight would be more fun, but the unicorn mare knew she couldn't take much more of a beating. Besides, if things went south, Alistair would be there in a heartbeat. She smiled evilly as she ran, thankful for the speed the golden stallion had been graced with. "Run all you like! We will catch you eventually!" She called out to the mortal, laughing quietly to herself like a giddy yearling with a crush.

[GYDA]
The smallest mortal surrendered, "Good for him" Gyda thought to herself, "That leaves 3 more to surrender or force them." Shortly following the gray one's surrender, Alistair and the dark stallion got into a scuffle which ended with the mortal on the ground, surrendering. "Your odds are quickly going down.." She cooed with a smile. The red mare spoke up again and her ignorance was beginning to wear on Gyda and when the mortal turned around and tried to escape Gyda stole the chance to teach her a lesson. Gyda was small but quick for short bursts and was able to catch up and push the mare, causing her to trip. The red mortal got up, still trying to escape from the unicorns, but Gyda was already in front of her with that threatening, dark and twisted horn pointed toward the mortal's face.
A sinister grin returned to her black lips, "Why don't you play nice and come meet the Great Compromiser and explain your thoughts to him yourself?" Gyda took a few steps toward the mare, closing the gap between them. A soft chuckle escaped from her small body as she firmly told her, "You will not escape from us…. alive. I suggest you surrender and keep your life."

Ozzer ignored the patronizing praise from the striped unicorn, and the shriek of outrage from Amber. At least he was not lying on the ground, all dignity crushed, as Ezra now was. And he certainly wasn't making such a fool of himself as Amber. "You silly mare!" he brayed as she turned tail and ran. The two female unicorns went shooting past him in pursuit.
It was now the three mortals left with the golden stallion. Ozzer thought they might stand a chance against him now. But the two blue horns still gleamed in the dim light, the dried blood on one a grim reminder of the quiver back corpse that lay nearby. Ezra still lay on the ground, leaving just Ozzer and Tierra to attack if they so chose. But he had given his word of surrender, and no matter the situation he stuck to what he said. And he had to admit that a morbid curiosity had grabbed hold of him once he had accepted the idea of being handed over to this King. He was still furious with the unicorns, but if he was going to die either way he might as well get to meet the one who has ordered his death. No, Tierra was on her own. She might have a chance if she ran now, but Ozzer had sealed his fate.
The sounds of Amber's and the unicorn's hooves had not retreated far when he heard a body hit the ground. He couldn't imagine it was one of the unicorns. Muffled voices rose in the distant, but the donkey couldn't make out the exact words. He turned to Alistair.
"Call them off," he said. It didn't sound so much like a plea as it did a suggestion between business partners. "If she does not surrender, why waste your time and energy on her when you are already outnumbered? We have not survived without the witch or each other since entering this forsaken land. Surely if you let her go she will perish before she ever makes it off the island." Ozzer eyed the dead quiver back, thinking his words might be true if she ran into another one of those. He had no idea if she could escape or not - perhaps if she got lucky - but maybe the unicorns would be so confident about the mortals' helplessness that the dunalino would believe it. Her chances were certainly better with the forest, given her continuous transgressions with their captors.

Amber ran as fast as she could, ignoring the taunting call of one of the fake unicorns pursuing her. 'Don't listen to them,' she thought to herself. 'You have to get away. You have to run.' A second unicorn was soon behind her and she ran harder than she had ever done in her life, chanting the word 'run' itself in her head over and over. It didn't help as she was tripped and hit the ground harshly. She looked up, trying to shake of the white dots that had appeared before her eyes after the fall. They cleared only to be met with horn pointed at her face and a set of blue eyes.
"Why don't you play nice and come meet the Great Compromiser and explain your thoughts to him yourself?
The mare chuckled and Amber bristled at her. She already hated that laugh of hers. Blood rushed through her ears and she breathed heavily, still recovering from her sprint, however short lived it had been. "Live to die later? Let me think," she said, mockingly pretending as if actualy considering it. "Hmm, no thanks." She pushed herself up again, legs visibly trembeling. As much as she wanted to deny it, she was reaching her limit. They had been running for quite awhile now and before they hadn't exactly been relaxing either. It didn't look like she could manage another sprint, but she stood her ground, glaring acidily at her opponents, silently hoping that they'd consider her too much trouble and let her be. That or that she could miraculously make them combust into fire with her glare.

[Elona//Aphelion Unseelie//Mare]
Elona skidded to a halt as the red mare tripped, laughing as the mortal looked up, only to be face to face with Gyda. This was better than she could have hoped for. "Why don't you play nice and come meet the Great Compromiser and explain your thoughts to him yourself? You will not escape from us…. alive. I suggest you surrender and keep your life." Gyda's malicious voice was music to the splashed paint's ears. She always knew there was a reason she and the fawn colored mare had become such fast friends.
"Live to die later? Let me think, Hmm, no thanks."
The ruddy mare's response was almost humorous, standing there shaking as her muscles began to give way, her coat shiny with sweat. The little unicorn chuckled as she stalked around the mare's side to stand beside Gyda, lowering her horn to usher the mortal back to her companions. "Come now. You've wasted more than enough of our time. Besides, isn't that all life is? Just living, only to die later? Especially for you mortals. Your lives seem to pass in just the blink of an eye, but to each their own I suppose. Personally, I would be more than happy to break all your legs and leave you here for the beasts to feed on. Just to be done with you and the trouble you bring..." a dark grin crossed her lips as she spoke. "But the great Lord Valradic has insisted we bring you and your companions alive, as he wishes to speak with you. You are all most fortunate that he is more merciful than I." She hissed the words, her smile fading as she stepped forward, prodding the red mare with her spiral horn.

[GYDA]
"Besides, isn't that all life is? Just living, only to die later? Especially for you mortals. Your lives seem to pass in just the blink of an eye, but to each their own I suppose. Personally, I would be more than happy to break all your legs and leave you here for the beasts to feed on." Gyda agreed with her painted friend's first statement and hoped it was enough to change the red mare's mind and surrender. But Elona's second statement made her grin, the two got along so well with their similar malevolent interests. "Well then, let's play." Gyda began stepping forward with Elona, pushing the mare back toward the group, unafraid to poke and scratch the mortal with her horn if she began to act up. In her mind Gyda believed the mortal deserved more punishment than just a few scratches for the trouble she was causing them and time she was wasting, but King Valraldic will decide what to do with her and her trespassing friends. Gyda was becoming somewhat excited to bring the mortals back for the King, she was curious what he would say and do and also what stories the mortals would plea to him with. Of course her mind went down the dark path and she began thinking of the things the King might do with the criminals.

Alistair watched, almost impassive, as the chestnut mortal broke away and ran for her short, miserable life. He did not give chase, did not need to, a fact reinforced when his unseelie companions hurtled past him. The chased her down like baying hounds, their horns the teeth that scuffed her pelt and dragged her from her bolt hole. Alistair felt a twinge of pride, and stifled it quickly. Elona would need to jump through more hoops than she'd ever be willing to before he relented so much as a single positive feeling towards her. As Ozzer spoke, one of Alistair's ears flicked towards him, listening and finding his tone distasteful. The unicorn flicked his head towards the donkey and lifted a brow, ever so delicately, wondering where the little beast had acquired such audacity. The donkey was knee-high to a grasshopper, lacked horns, perhaps even a gift, and he thought he could speak to an Overseer as though they were equals? Alistair wasn't sure if he wanted to slit the mortal's throat or felt begrudgingly impressed and, before he could decide, his unseelie companions were bringing Amberly back to the group. " Get up." He ordered, slipping his hoof away from Ezra's throat. He imagined it must have felt nice to breathe properly again. See how much easier cooperation is? He thought, a smirk masquerading for a sneer on his lips. It took two hours to get through the Forest of Giants and across the Crescent's inner landbridge. Alistair's patience was running short by the time his hooves met the grassy meadows of the blessing's territory, due in no small part to the chestnut's resistance. He was beginning to consider breaking her legs, for real, or at least cutting out her wretched little tongue. But before those thoughts could become tangible, they had reached their destination: a long stretch of meadow, swathed in the shade of the Crescent's mountain range.
It was there that Alistair stopped and turned to his companions, Gyda and Elona, setting a critical eye on both girls. "Keep an eye on them." He ordered. He didn't expect any of the mortals to be stupid enough to run, but... well. One never knew with such short-sighted beasts. "I'll return shortly."
With that, and a flick of his tail, the Overseer was gone.

[Elona//Aphelion Unseelie//Mare]
The trek back to the Crescent was long, and not anywhere near as much fun as the journey out had been. The mortals were irritating, and having to keep an eye on them put a damper on the jokes she and Gyda could trade. At least their mission had been a success, and that alone was more than Elona had originally hoped for. She glanced around the group as they came to a halt. "Keep an eye on them. I'll return shortly." Alistair spoke curtly, shooting a look at both unicorn mares before disappearing over a large grassy hill. Elona rolled her eyes. It wasn't like the mortals could really escape now, and even if they tried, She and Gyda could easily cut them off before they even made it to the bridge.
"Sometimes I get the impression he isn't very fond of us..." Elona laughed, looking towards her fawn friend. "No matter, We'll be rid of him and these mortals soon enough." She grinned at the thought. Lord Valradic would be pleased with them, and every unicorn in the herd would know their names. Maybe there would even be an event held in their honor. She shook the thoughts away quickly. Now was not the time to get wrapped up in delusions of grandeur. Later though... Elona flicked an ear back, listening for Alistair's return, hoping he wouldn't be gone too long. Her side had begun throbbing again, reminding her painfully that she really needed to get checked out by a medic. She cringed slightly as she thought back to the gully, hoping Alistair left that part out when reporting to the King.
Flicking her long, cat-like tail impatiently, she looked around the rag-tag group of mortals, really studying them for the first time. They were tired, scared, but they had a certain sense of defiance about them, even now, after being captured. It was fascinating, almost...admirable. It was almost a shame to think that their fire was about to be snuffed out by her king.... then again, the mortal's crimes could not go unpunished.
