Earlene's brow fell on her eyes. The sudden initiation of the fight wasn't exactly how she had planned things - but at least the battle was moving. Tobias was lunging one way and Jaxon the other and a flurry of hooves and mane was in front of her. She hardly had the chance to move forward and attack - let alone give orders. She didn't like things going against the plan, against the current that was her mind. Still - she wasn't going to stand there and watch while the young boys had their fun. She snorted, she had to find a target. Jaxon was on Lukan, Tobias on Marius - that left her with one. Her eyes landed gently on the mare. So small, so vulnerable. A smile crossed Earlene's face that signaled she had found her prey.
She weaved through the chaos like a wild cat, her body agile and lithe with the training that had supported her throughout her life. She finally found her target, and lunged - teeth bared and eyes wide as she honed in on Astra. She didn't care if she hit her target too much, her intent was to scare the mare. Instilling fear in others was something she liked to think of herself as good at.

Lukan || Older Herd || Knight
He had hoped calling the younger stallion by his name would startled - and thereby unnerve - the Bachelors, but it only seemed to enrage the half blind horse and spur the others into action. A tingle ran up Lukan's spine that both chilled him and sent a rush of heat down to his hooves as he back up a pace, squaring his feet and putting his back to the trees to give himself some sort of coverage. Jaxon charged at him as he'd begun to expect, recalling his previous thought; the Bachelors were not untrained, but their discipline and order was lacking at the group of four dissolved, each of them going after someone else. When the opportunity came, he would make his way to his companions, but for now he focused on his own opponent. Thinking to use the charge to his own advantage, Luakn stepped to the side and reached out to bite Jaxon on the side, hard. He might not break skin, but it was sure to have hurt.
Part of the dark knight's internal conflict was gone, thinking back on the battle and his reluctance to harm a horse that was still a child to him. The other young stallion had to be younger than Astra by a few years at least, but there had been a lust for battle in his eyes that both unnerved and enraged Lukan. No child should even know what emotions like that felt like. He couldn't ponder it long however at the oldest stallion of the group charged at him as well, whether he just needed an opponent of his own or was coming to Jaxon's aid he didn't know. As it was Lukan was just able to half rear and keep his neck out of reach of the Bachelor's teeth, pivoting on his hind legs to keep the still tender but scarring side of his chest out of the way as well. He had Jaxon to thank for that mark as well and wasn not eager to have it reopened or erased completely by a new wound in the same place.
Don't kill them, don't hurt them too much. They have to be able to walk out of here and back to their island. Lukan thought to himself, lashing out at the golden maned stallion with his hooves, clipping the kick at the last moment to strike at his flank rather than his head. A kick to the head could deal a fair amount of damage that he was not prepared to deal with at the moment.

Astra || Olde Herd || Knight In the middle of the full-out battle, Astra's confusion prevented her from watching out for possible danger from other horses - something she should have been aware of, given that despite one of them being younger, looking just as eager to fight as the others, they still had one horse extra to give them advantage. It was hard to focus though, Jaxon's presence had unbalanced her for a moment... The mare was back to her senses, reason returning and reminding her why she didn't want anything to do with Bachelors. Astra just hoped it wasn't too late, and she hadn't commited a mistake. Thankfully, Astra's reflexes were pretty good, if she dared say so herself. She didn't have trouble with multitasking, so she could see the battle between Jaxon and Lukan, and the colt going for Marius. Astra's original intention had been to stop him, and battle the youngster herself... But it seemed like others had different plans. Earlene's attack was a blur in the edge of her vision, and it took Astra every single year of fighting and running and training to avoid the full out blow. She manated to evade the attack, for once glad for her small, lithe form that allowed her to do so. Quickly regaining her balance, Astra turned and aimed an attack with her front hooves on Earlene's shoulder, hoping that she was fast enough to hit her. Her mossy green eyes were wide. While this definitely wasn't her first fight in a small group - and certainly not the first where she was outnumbered - the sight of the Golden Mare worked partially in scaring the younger horse. She had never had contact with Earlene when she was young, it was a surprise that she even remembered her name after so long. But she knew... To be a golden mare... Well, if Astra had been in her place, she'd work hard to be the meanest, strongest horse she could be. It'd be the only way to properly gain the Bachelors' respect. In other words, that meant Astra was in for a real fight. Clenching her teeth, Astra focused on chasing the worry out of her mind. As much as she was still attentive to what was around her, she also felt the burning desire to best this female. Lukan's previous look - one that made clear that he thought she was too inexperienced for a fight with a rival herd - gave her an extra boost of strength. She wanted to... She /would/ prove to him she was good enough to win. ((Hey guys, it's my first time trying to write a battle between horses so if I write anything that doesn't seem right, feel free to let me know!))

The half blind stallion watched as Lukan moved to the side at the last second, leaving Jaxon face-to-face with a young tree. It was too late to stop his momentum but perhaps he could redirect it. The attempt was strained as he turned, sliding into the trunk as the bark scratched his flank. He felt the wind of Lukan's reach pass his blind side, the echoing snap of the dark stallions teeth sounding in his ears. It took a moment for the pain to register as the bite came down hard on his shoulder causing him to shudder and clenched his jaw. The anger that brewed deep in his chest was welling up now and quickly he snapped his neck to the side to take a bite of his own into the Olde knights flesh. But it was too late, as Lukan shifted again this time to avoid Brand's incoming assault.
Jaxon scowled at the light colored horse, irritation registering on the side of his face that wasnt frozen by scars. He did not need help and Brand has no reason to interfere with his quarrel. It was unlikely that his herd mate caught the assaulting glare however, as the who warriors were locked together in heated rage. Shaking the chips of bark from his coat, the young bachelor regained his vigor and charged again, this time aiming to knock Lukan off his feet. Head down and knees up, he lunged for the stallions side forcing all his weight into the Olde knight and pushing his toward the ground.

Brand | Bachelor Stallion | Infantry As Brand swerved and dodged, he caught movement from the corner of his eye. A mare, a horse he hadn't seen before the fighting started, approached. For a split second he thought she would aid the stallion they were fighting - he was outnumbered, after all - but she swerved and made for his spotted friend instead. Brand grit his teeth, but he knew he couldn't leave the fight now. In fact, he should stop getting so distracted. With a hiss he felt a hoof glance his hide. It itched, but it also made him stand firmer.
Luckily he could hear hoofbeats behind him and it eased his mind to know the experienced mare, Earlene, had joined the fray. Knowing her quick thinking, she'd probably go for the mare. She was the smallest and no doubt weakest target. Best to take her out first and then turn on the others. He whinnied sharply, hoping to cause a distraction, and then lunged his large body forward.
He was hit in the side again, but it barely registered. He'd had tougher injuries than a few bruises. In fact, he wondered at the stallion's actions. Such an easy opening should have given his opponent the opportunity to injure more than just his skin and his neck and legs had been unprotected. Was he holding back?
"You are vain indeed if you think you can beat us without giving it your all, stranger," he hissed, aiming for the chestnut's knees with a harsh kick. He didn't like fighting, but he would if necessary. And right now they couldn't leave this one fighting fit.
Jaxon pushed up next to him, aiming to do something similar, and Brand chose to flank him. Even if the younger male didn't see the necessity of teamwork, he would still try to instill it in him. He'd keep an eye on his flank and keep both of them save. Even if his attention occasionally strayed to a vision of spots not far from them.
"Let's bring him down," he spoke as he caught Jaxon's plan. His bright eyes sparked as he moved forward once again and threw his own weight into it. Blinding teeth tried to do as much damage as he could as his hind legs were put to work. If the stranger fell to the ground, they'd have a distinct advantage.

Lukan || Olde Herd || Knight
Over his opponents' shoulders Lukan could see Astra move to engage in the battle; his worry for the young mare spiked as the other appeared moving right for her. Under normal circumstances he would have considered it the same as any other opponent, but the fact that is was a much older - and therefore experienced horse - on top of her coming from the Bachelor herd unnerved him. Distracted as he was Lukan was only just able to settle his forelegs on the ground and duck just enough to take the kick to his upper leg to save his knee. While it didn't hurt as much as it would have on the joint it was still quite painful. The dark stallion let out as much of a snarl as a horse could manage, lashing out with another kick at Jaxon and turning to try and slam his shoulder into Brand.
"It's not vanity, it's mercy." Lukan hissed even as one of his hooves slipped under the pressure of both stallions throwing their weight against him. He arched his neck high to keep his face out of biting range but felt the sting of teeth in his neck and jerking at his mane as he tried to step away, stumbling on his kicked leg. Trying to balance on three legs now he was sure the muscle was either torn of severely bruised, only making it that much harder for him to stay upright. Fear for himself suddenly gripped him as Lukan realized they were trying to knock him over. He could still deliver some decent kicks from the ground but getting up while being attacked by two other horses would be next to impossible.
