It seemed like it had been an eternity that Evalynn had been trapped in the Bachelor Herd, and throughout everything, even when the stallions were still injured from the battle, she still hadn't managed to escape. And while she had her gift, she hadn't honed it nearly enough to feel safe enough to try and use it past singeing some of the more... nosy stallions. While she was here, she had to deal with taunts, and some physical abuse from some of the more brutish stallions, but nothing any of the Bachelor horses said or did to her could amount to the nightmares that plagued her every time she fell asleep. Phantom memories of the mare she had killed haunted her, making her heart race and a cold chill to overtake her.
It was because of the nightmares that Evalynn tried to stay awake as long as possible, feigning sleep so the guards wouldn't snap at her for being awake. It was even worse because the stallion who had captured her had turned out to be the mares mate apparently, and the guilt swallowed her completely when she found out she had made a foal motherless. However, every night Evalynn always succumbed to sleep sooner or later, and the memories began to invade her dreams every time. Tonight was not an exception.
Taking up a spot in the field on the outside of the herd, as was her normal ritual, she decided to curl her legs underneath her and lay in the grass instead of stand tonight. Her legs were sore, so she figured she'd be safe enough to lay for the night. Closing her eyes, she felt herself falling- far too quickly for her liking- asleep. Immediately, she found herself in the Summer Fields, instead of being a clear warm night, with everyone asleep, it was night time, and shrill battle cries rang out as the rain poured and hoofs trampled and churned mud everywhere. Adrenaline coursed through her body as she ran between pairs of horses squaring off, and felt herself collide with the mare. While she knew the outcome of the memory, she could not force her dream-self not to fight against the mare, every time she accidentally bit into the mares throat, and the mare dropped, she felt like a little piece of herself was lost.
As she dreamed, her body spasmed and small whimpers escaped her. Quiet, almost silent cries escaped as she slept. "No, please!" "I didn't mean to!" "Oh gods, no! Please no!"

The large stallion wandered the Summer Fields aimlessly as sleep continued to evade him. It had been weeks since Robin's passing, and yet, it was still as fresh in his mind as the moment it had happened. The young paint had become his everything in such a short amount of time... and then, in just a matter of moments, she was gone...
Ghost snorted, trying to push the thoughts away, but as he glanced around the field, all he could see were broods curled up with their young. Some whispering sweet nothings to their small foals, while others sung lullabys softly luring their children into a magical dreamland. Felicity would never have that again....Yeah there were plenty of broods to look after her and care for her...but it would always be different. The great grey horse turned his gaze to the small bay appaloosa. She was sleeping soundly, curled up against one of the younger, foal less broods who had taken up the task of watching over her. She seemed so peaceful, so calm....Ghost was almost jealous of his daughter. Though she was mourning her loss, she seemed so much more capable of moving on. He was thankful for that at least.
Turning his attention back to the whole of the field, Ghost continued his meandering. At least it was quiet enough to try and sort out his thoughts and feelings enough to maybe try and sleep. As he briefly thought about attempting to settle down for the night, Ghost heard a soft, muffled cry on the outskirts of the herd. There had been rumors of loners stealing foals as of late, and the stallion wasn't about to leave the sound unchecked. Picking up his pace slightly, he willed his gift to overtake him, relishing in the invisibility. Quickly he approached the source of the sound, only to find the sleeping form of the murderous Olde brood. Anger welled up inside him as his invisibility faded, his massive form hovering over the whimpering mare. He stood for a moment, watching as the young bay mare fought some unseen battle.
"Brood! Get up before you wake the whole herd!" Ghost whispered gruffly in the mare's ear as he nudged her with his massive hoof. Though he hated interacting with the bay mare, he was glad to see she was suffering too.

As Ghost's hoof grazed side, Evalynn's eyes shot open, about to let out a terrified whinny, when she realized she had been woken from the nightmare. Her eyes adjusted to the dark as she looked up at the stallion who'd woken her, and she realized it'd been the spotty draft who'd captured her. Evalynn's ears fell back at that discovery, and looked away from him, anger welling in her at the fact that it had to be him who'd found her having a nightmare about that night. She'd have rather it been Cain, or even Dimitri for that matter. But no, with her luck, it of course, had to be the horse that hated her the most, while she was having a nightmare about the reason he hated her so much.
Letting out a sigh, the paintaloosa shifted her weight, and as she moved, a slight breeze swept across her face, and she felt wet tracks from tears she hadn't realized had fallen. Shaking her mane out, she let her messy, if not slightly tangled, mane cover the side of her face that was facing him. After a few seconds, she hadn't heard him move away to go find another spot to sleep.
She turned slightly, not quite facing him, and she pinned her ears back. "I'm sorry. You can leave.. I won't wake up the herd." she quipped shortly to the stallion, than muttering under her breath, "Not that I'm really going to be able to fall asleep soon anyways.." With that, she assumed he'd leave her the hell alone, since he probably didn't want to be anywhere near her.

"Leave you alone to try and sneak off again? Besides, If I can't sleep why should you get the opportunity?" The grey stallion snorted as he spoke. "What was all noise about anyway?" He asked, studying the tear stains on the mare's face. "Living with us 'barbarians' proving to be too much?" Sarcasm dripped from his tongue as he spoke.
In all honesty, all of the captives led fairly easy lives as far as Ghost was concerned. They were expected to behave themselves, obviously, and share information that could help give the Bachelors an edge in the coming battles. That aside though, they really had few duties. They weren't even allowed to interact with most of the herd until Cain had given them his approval, which also meant the majority of the herd was unable to interact with them for fear of punishment. They had an immunity of sorts which they just seemed to overlook as if it was nothing. Ungrateful creatures...the whole lot of them...
He turned his attention back to the obviously irritated mare. "Come with me." Ghost said rather flatly, looking past the mare as he began walking away. He honestly wasn't sure what he had in mind, or even what he was thinking. He just knew he wanted the mare to suffer. To understand not only what she had done, but what her entire herd had been responsible for.

Evalynn snorted slightly and rolled her eyes. "Yes, I'm absolutely going to try and sneak off in the dead of night through territory I do not know. That sounds like a fool proof plan." Her ears pinned back at his question, and she stared pointedly away from him "That noise was really none of your concern, as you don't really care anyway." She knew baiting him probably wasn't good for her physical well-being, especially since she was laying down and had no way to dodge him if he decided to strike her with one of his massive hooves. But still, she found herself irritated at his still being here. Why couldn't he just rebuke her then go away? "And no, living with you barbarians isn't too much, though y'all are a serious pain in my ass." Her ears still folded against her neck, she glanced up at him with a glare.
After a few seconds, where she still had yet to hear him amble away, he commanded her to follow him, and she let out a sigh. The paintaloosa had half a mind to ignore the spotted stallion, but realized she'd have a better time evading sleep if she followed him, plus she'd be less likely to piss him off. While he wasn't too much taller than her, he still had far more bulk and muscle, and she didn't feel like being his personal kicking post.
So, with a sigh, Evalynn stood up, and followed the silver spotted stallion, her ears pricked as she wondered just what exactly his plan was.

"You'd be surprised how many broods have tried that." Ghost whispered harshly, mentally running through the list of mares that had escaped in the dead of night because just one guard wasn't paying attention. "And yes, that racket really is my concern. I have subordinates who need sleep, and there are plenty of slaves who need to get their rest as well. I'm not about to let one captive brood ruin that. " He snorted loudly, continuing through the Summer Fields with the large mare in tow. Ghost hadn't realized it before, but the red mare was his height, and seemed to have quite a bit of bulk. It was no surprise that she was a fighter amongst the Olde herd. She seemed quite a bit stronger than the rest of her herd. Robin hadn't stood a chance... Anger welled within the silver stallion as his thoughts were drawn to his beloved. He felt so lost without her. She had been his guiding light, and now, she was just...gone.
Walking past where his daughter slept curled up against one of the lady broods, he glanced at Evalyn. "That filly...That's the daughter of the mare you killed. That's MY daughter. Because of you, She will never have a mother to guide her through life and the intricacies of our herd. She will never have a mother to tell her stories of her childhood, or comfort her when she's scared. Yes, there are Ladies that are all helping raise her, but her mother was her whole world... This...This is your fault!" Ghost's whispered voice turned into a snarl as he spoke. Huffing in frustration, the spotted stallion attempted to regain his composure, realizing just how unhinged he sounded. Turning away, he continued walking towards the edge of the summer fields, not wanting to wake anyone himself. He hated this mare...Everything in him wanted to end her. Just kill her right then and there...but he knew he couldn't. She was an asset to the herd, and had the potential to be a decent bargaining chip in the future. Sighing angrily, he waited for the mare to catch up. Tonight was going to be a long one.
