"Fillysitting" A flash back of sorts, fifteen year-old Cool Runnings is placed in charge of ten-year old Arabella while Alabaster is out on official business. *Note that as a flash back, this scene takes place four years prior to the current objective. <>

"Oh there is nothing wrong with spending an afternoon with a little filly." Sweet Wisp was trying to encourage her son on his assignment for that day.
The no-longer-a-colt-but-not-yet-a-stallion awkward young horse rolled his eyes and sighed, exhaling upwards to blow his blonde bangs from his tired looking eyes.
"But Mum, foal sitting is a girl's job."
Sweet Wisp shook her head sternly. "Nonsense. It's just as admirable for young stallions to be good with the little ones." A sly smile curled her muzzle. "...and I am sure Mr. Alabaster must trust you very much to keep watch over his own niece."
Coolar looked upward, appearing to give this whole idea new consideration. Yes. It would prove to Mr. Alabaster that Coolar was old enough and responsible enough to keep learning from The Great and Beautiful Adviser (Ala's words and Coolar never questioned them). Yes! This could be his opportunity to maybe teach little Arabella something and show Alabaster that he had been such a good teacher, his student had taught another!
---
It was only a short time later that Cool Running's had met up with Arabella and Alabaster near the city square. He told Coolar to keep a watchful eye on his niece and the gypsy stood tall and proud.
"I will protect her at all costs, Sir!"
So that was that, and then the two foals were alone. Well. One foal and one...teenager. Cool Runnings looked down at little Arabella....and just kind of stood there awkwardly. He'd never really tried to talk to a child before (five years was an age gap eternity when one was fifteen). What would they talk about? What would they do? He was supposed to be the leader, right? Right.
Cool Runnings cleared his throat and tried to puff out his chest, attempting to mimic Alabaster's prideful disposition- though it looked rather ridiculous.
"Well, uhm. Young Arabella is it?" He knew who she was. Unicorn Gods, he sounded so inept.

“G-Goodbye uncle Alabaster! Have a nice day at work!” Arabella said in a cheerful tone as she watched him walk away, without looking back. The little filly tilted her head slightly to one side. Sometimes she wondered why did her uncle pay such little attention to her, and he always had to go away to work. Arabella shrugged her shoulders, not giving much attention to the thought. She knew how important this job was for him, she could understand it perfectly because she also had a dream like that; to become the best mage healer in the whole herd!
The filly could feel her thin, fragile legs tremble with excitement at the thought. She would be able to help others, explore the island in search of any useful herbs, and most important; show uncle Alabaster how good she could be at it! Arabella smiled and just after her uncle had walked away she trotted happily to a bush closet to where she had just been. She picked up some short and some long leaves from it and carried as much as she could on her mouth, then walked back to her original spot. This was one of her favourite games, since she didn’t have many other things to do and there were no more foals in the herd. What a better way to become a good healer than starting to practise as soon as she could? Arabella chuckled and started to pile up the leaves in two groups; short leaves and long leaves. She usually had a lot of fun, but she couldn’t help but imagine how much more fun she would have when she finally became an official Mage healer. However, back into reality, Arabella had been so focused on her fantasies that she hadn’t noticed an unknown horse walking towards her, and saying her name. She gave a little jump at first, a bit scared at the sudden presence of the horse.
Arabella shook her head as one of the leaves she had collected landed on her nose because of the movement. Who was him? Did she know him? But all the doubts washed away as the horse said her name. The once confused look on her face brightened up again with a big smile. “Yes, I am!” Arabella said with a confident and playful tone, looking at the older horse. He had to be the horse that her uncle had told her about, the one that would stay with her while he was away, but sadly she didn't get the chance to know his name. “You know my name, but I’m afraid I don’t know yours. What’s your name?” She asked with a kind gaze and a soft smile.

Cool Runnings blinked a few times as he tried to make sense of the leaves the filly was playing with, but ultimately couldn't. His eyes now moved towards her smile and he couldn't help but suddenly feel a little bashful.
"Uhm, yes I know you. You're the niece of Sir Alabaster." Coolar always spoke of Alabaster with high regard.
"Well, I guess we should hang out this afternoon....or something."
One ear cocked and his blue eyes rolled upward. Being an awkward older teenager, Cool Runnings may have found himself too cool for games of foals.
"Hm?" His ears pricked and heat rushed to his face when she inquired upon his name. Doh!
"I-I-am sorry, M'Lady." As the niece of the great Alabaster, Arabella (in Coolar's eyes) automatically held higher hierarchy than he.
"I'm Cool Runnings. Son of Second Nature and Sweet Wisp." The filly was probably not old enough to know of Coolar's parents but as a formal introduction, he mentioned them anyway.
"So...uhm...what might you be doing with the bushes?" He was honestly curious.

"Aha! You thought you could escape me, Great Composer. Little did you know you have fallen into my trap." A young colt cackled, adding a sinister chuckle for bonus points. He lowered his head and stared up at the tree through narrowed eyes, a smug grin creeping across his mouth. Any equine in thier right mind would have thought the boy was insane. Little did the world know, that hidden behind a couple of bushes and underneath a great pine tree, lay a colt's secret world. This is where Makul came as often as every other day. Though, the time he spent here was beginning to dwindle now that Ellie refused to join him. Still, this tree was perfect for anyone as small as a young colt or filly. It was just big enough a child could squeeze through, but large enough an adult would have difficulties. Underneath the large pine tree a sense of freedom and passion could be found. It was exotic, peaceful, and well, exciting.
Makul's demeanor shifted, the smug look switching to one of determination, his voice becoming less sinister and much deeper. "That's where you're wrong." He replied to himself. To any other person, it simply sounded like a sorry colt playing a game all on his own, but to him, his voice was no longer his and reality no longer existed; this was his reality. Makul grinned, grabbed a stick from the ground with his mouth, then fought against the imaginary villain. The stick would silently cut through air every now and then hitting the tree's thick trunk. Caught in the moment, the ten-year-old colt dashed out from under the tree and through the bushes. His body thrusted every which way as he played his favorite game.
After a brief moment of hesitation, he spat the stick out of his mouth and stared up at the sky. He felt so lonely without Ellie or Shelly or Key around. Their world had come crashing down just a year ago, and everyone in his family still had yet to recover. If only Ellie would play with him again! Then maybe one thing would be right with the world again. He heaved a sad sigh, then commenced trotting away from his hideaway and back to the rest of the herd. People would start to worry if he didn't return soon. He paused to cast one last sorrowful glance at the stick, then laughed a little and continued on. "Sticks are definitely the way to go. They almost look like the sharks I saw!" He whinnied happily. The last time he had visited the City he had seen some sharp objects, which Michela later explained where a strange weapon the deceased humans has wielded in times of war. Makul decided to give them a name... Sharp Sticks. Therefore, shark was simply PERFECT.
Makul paused and swung his head to the right, curiously peering past a dying bush to make out two figures in the distance. He perked his ears, trying to catch some of the words that were being exchanged, and tiptoed a few steps closer. Was that... Arabella? And Coolar? Makul didn't know either one too well, but Key would mention the two every once an a while. It was only natural for her since she was acquainted with practically EVERYONE. The colt rolled his blue orbs at the irritating thought. He'd show her one day.

((Sorry for the late reply!!! ;u; and yeah don't worry, it looks pretty good. c: ))
Arabella smiled and gave him a little nod. “Nice to meet you, Cool Runnings.” She said, flicking her braided tail. “Your parents have beautiful names- Yours is pretty cool too!” The little filly added in a sweet tone. Since she was very little she had liked compounded names, she had even wished she could have one! But she knew how much her parents had liked her name, so she had to agree with them.
The little filly pointed at the pile of leaves, some of them were scattered all over the floor because of her sudden jump. “I’m training to become the best mage healer in Olde!” Arabella said proudly, she could feel the energy and excitement that the thought brought to her roaring in her fragile legs. “Right now I was thinking about practicing a bit, so when I become a rook I’ll have a lot of experience.” Arabella explained him with a giggle, giving also a bright smile. “I better pick up all of this; a mage healer must be very organized with its materials!” She added and went to pick up the leaves with an energetic pace some of them had landed close to where she was, and some had been carried a bit farther with the breeze, near to some dying bushes in the distance. Arabella was so focused in picking up the leaves that she hadn’t noticed the presence of another horse close to where she was heading to. Instead of that, she kept talking to Cool Runnings. “What about you? Are you a healer or a knight or something?” Arabella asked the teenager horse with a kind smile, and some long leaves hanging on her mouth as she picked them up carefully, one by one.

Coolar leaned back a bit, not quite used to the energy that the little filly produced, but did not find it uncomfortable. Rather smiled shyly. "Well...Arabella is...well 'Bella' is another word for 'beauty'. So your name is equally splendid. Heh." Awkward.
He stepped back to watch her as she explained all she was doing and tilted his head in curiosity. A healer of magic. Those were always useful...but a very ambitious career to proceed. Still, as Cool Runnings tilted one ear to the side and studied Arabella, he came to his own conclusion that she had the determination she spoke of. "Ah! There is always room for those that care for others, in any form."
Cool Runnings followed her a few steps behind and then found himself red in the cheeks. "uh-m-me? Uhm..Well- I suppose I greatly look up to-" In mid sentence, his ears perked immediately at the bushes. "Hmm." The older colt walked around the length of the bush to the other side of said tree that had bravely stood it's ground against the younger colt.
"What are you doing?" He recognized the boy, but did not know him personally...Coolar wasn't terribly socially ...awkward. Still, this one seemed a tad older than Arabella....but not quite as old as he.
Blue eyes took a second glance at the tree that had clearly lost the battle. The bark was stripped and Coolar licked his lips. It was like having an orange pre peeled in front of you (though no one could pay Coolar any amount of Witch Glass to eat a fruit). "You did this with the stick, did you?" He grinned at the idea. Little did Makul realize he had just introduced Coolar to the concept of eating utensils.
Flicking his blond bangs away, Coolar took a large bite of the pretending bark, pulling it between his teeth with chewing carefully with consideration...as if tasting a fine wine. He swallowed finally. "This tastes like an Obtuse Willow tree...but it is quite small..." Perhaps it was young foliage. Oh! "Hey Arabella! Come over here!" Cool Runnings grinned, eager to share knowledge to the fillie's interests.
"Do you know this tree? It is a willow! The bark produces a sap that aids in minor pain from bruising!" He puffed out his chest all proud of himself, looking (or trying) to look impressive.

(ooc:// Thanks so much! ;o;)
Makul was able to catch a word every now and then from the conversing equines. It wasn't until Arabella started walking his way could he infer what the conversation was about, and even then he had no idea. The youngster's ducked down in hopes that the bush hiding his identity. Although he was known for his bad eavesdropping habit, he didn't feel up to hearing an earful on how bad it truly was. 'Maybe if I just hide here for a while, they won't notice...' He thought to himself, staring hard at the ground. What was the ground made of? Dirt, sure, but what was the dirt made of... Broken unicorn horns? Or maybe seashells...? Hmmmm...
It wasn't until Coolar's voice reached his ears did the boy realize how stupid his plan had been. His head jerked up with a surprise whiny and, without a glance back to see who it was, he kicked up his heels and took off. He might have gotten away with it, too, if it wasn't for a large spider web. Makul eyes widened as he felt the sticky threads wrap themselves around his face. "AAH! GET IT OFF! GET IT OFF!" He shrieked, stopping in his tracks and dropping to his knees. He anxiously rubbed his face against the dirt until the web was completely gone and the white marking on his forehead was brown as the dirt. He thrashed his head back and forth, shivering as he did so, with the thought of a large, equine eating spider crawling along his body. Horrible. Gross. Disgusting. Just, bleh.
Makul braced himself and waited for the laughter to come. Numerous equines had claimed that her overreacted and maybe they were right. But as far as Mack was concerned, they were dead wrong. He gave his head one last shake and looked over at the older colt. He was definitely older than him, that was for sure, so then why was he hanging out with Arabella? Ellie and him only a couple years apart, but even her peers didn't always appreciate a foal tagging along. And what was up with eating bark? Makul wrinkled his nose in disgust. He was a very picky eater.
He just sat there and continued to size up the filly and teenager up. Well, that was until he started feeling weird about saying nothing, but not wanting to saying anything at all. This was... awkward? Yep, that was the word for it. Awkward. Where were your sisters when you needed them?
"Stupid spider web." Makul grumbled under his breath. He could have avoided this situation all together, but what was done was done. His gaze fell on Coolar, then traveled to the tree, then back to the colt. "Ummm... Hi." He finally mustered. Had the teenager asked him a question? He must of, but what was it?

Arabella continued picking up the leaves and waited for Coolar’s answer, but he suddenly stopped in the middle of it. The filly tilted her head and looked back at the older horse’s direction, placing the leaves on the ground softly. “Huh? Cool Runnings, what’s wrong?” She asked and trotted in his direction and noticed he was talking about a tree. Quickly, Arabella’s big blue eyes shone with curiosity at the tree, which according to Cool Runnings was a willow tree. “Whoa, seriously? That’s amazing!” The filly ran towards him and looked up at the tree with interest.
“You know a lot of things! How did you manage to know which tree was it exactly? Do you know about other trees as well? Would you teach me someday about them?” And there she was again, throwing a storm of questions. It was something she couldn’t avoid doing, she was pretty interested in learning as much as she could about the world that surrounded her. Arabella looked at Cool Runnings with a hint of admiration, how much she wished she could be able to recognize a simple tree just by its smell! Hopefully for her, he would be able to help her in her journey of becoming a healer mage perhaps!
Arabella smiled brightly, until a sudden shriek made her jump in surprise. In a rush, the filly quickly turned around and hid behind Cool Runnings, closing her eyes. But she couldn’t resist the curiosity and poked her head behind Cool Running’s tail, with the hopes of staying hid of the creature that had made that noise. Soon Arabella realized that it was another equine, but he wasn’t as big as adult horses from her herd, nor like Cool Runnings. Perhaps he was a foal just like she was? Arabella took a few steps forward and heard the foal’s comment. "Stupid spider web." The filly allowed a smile to appear on her mouth and looked at him with gentle, big blue eyes. “Hey there,” Arabella greeted him with a slight chuckle and stood once more in front of Cool Runnings, quickly her friendly and kind nature started to show once more. “Are you alright?” Arabella asked, noticing some dirt on the foal’s forehead. Somehow, she felt she had seen this foal before but sadly couldn’t remember meeting him or even knowing his name.
