Summary: Adventuring too far can lead to many different situations, but in this case, it can lead to odd encounters. Without realizing exactly where he wandered off to after his assigned task from the Higher Guards, Gaius finds himself to be face to face with two horses that he hardly or never seen before. Will this be more than an encounter or will there be a twist to the unplanned meeting?
1. Gaius 2. Snake 3. Briseis
Snake II Bachelor II Scavenger
A warm summer breeze swept across the meadow Snake was currently crossing. His wild mane was swept this way and that, brushing the scar on his forehead and lashing his shoulders in silky, multi-colored strands. The spotted stallion paused in his journey and shook out his unruly mess of hair, eyeing his surroundings and scenting the wind cautiously. A grove of trees dotted the expanse of yellow and green grasses here and there, offering tempting respite from the summer heat in their shade. But Snake had other things to focus on right now. His scavenging duties for one. But on a side note, he'd taken up spying on the exiles every chance he had. They had taken refuge on the eastern isle since last winter and he was determined not to let any shifty behavior slip past his radar. If something was up, he would be the first to know! He didn't trust that ungainly bunch of...well...exiles. The bachelor scavenger had already experienced more than one bad encounter with them. He finished his quick lookout and began moving again, trotting confidently through the shoulder-high grass and skirting past a prickly bramble bush as he headed toward the sound of rushing water, a stream no doubt. His thought was confirmed as he slipped past a row of pines and halted at the edge of a creek. It was a thin, shallow little thing, but it provided a drink all the same. As he lowered his head to lap up the sun-sparkling water, the sound of nearby rustling caught his attention. The stallion snapped to attention, his yellow eyes narrowed in suspicion as he tried to pinpoint the source of the noise. It was making to much of a raucous to be something as simple as a field mouse. "Who's there?" he demanded, his usually quiet voice rising in volume so as to reach the approaching stranger.

Exile Herd
It's hilarious how we are all plagued by such common tragedies- we are all alike in this cruel world

Gaius | Exile | Guard Narrowed eyes looked towards the blazing sun swirling it's rage about while specks of plush clouds were barely in sight, unseen to the naked eye as they shed away from the furious ball above. It was then that lime green eyes watered Gaius craned his neck towards the foreign landscape of lush greens around him, wondering where exactly he had ventured off to. The breeze did nothing to cool the burning feeling of regret flowing into his veins, a searing sensation that made him all the more nervous of his unfortunate mistake. Had he not been more careful he'd still be in the comforting embrace of his herd, not alone among a land so strange to him. Yet the feeling had not stopped him from strolling his way around, taking lazy steps towards an edge of a nearby creek not far from pines that bustled with life that he had not seen in so long; in the southern Isle, it was a sight that he had longed to see once again. However he kept towards the tree lines, cautious of the threats that were nearby. He wasn't stupid. Gaius knew of the horses that lingered in Chevalin, itching for an accuse of cruel amusement. 'The irony of having a lack of direction... I should just turn back from where I cam-' His train of thought was broken at a far-to-close-for-comfort voice calling out, asking who is in their presence... Oh the fortune the grullo is having today! He's dreading it.

The rustling in front of him stopped, only to be started up again by someone...or something...behind him. Was this an ambush!? The appaloosa whirled around in a blur of spots and wild hair, his muscles tense and lips drawn back, prepared to bite. He was ready for a fight if that's what it came to. A short equine leapt out of the tall grasses where the second wave of rustling had occurred, narrowly dodging a sharp bite to the crest. A high-pitched squeal of fright shot from the little blue roan that now slumped at his hooves, quivering and muttering a string of incoherent apologies. "Briseis you idiot!" Snapped Snake, glaring down at the young mare. "What do you think you're doing out here!? Why are you following me? I thought you were an intruder!" he spat, giving the mare a solid thwack across the shoulder with one of his striped hooves. "I-I-I-I-I-I'm s-s-s-sor-ry-ry-ry." she whimpered between sharp gasps of air, suppressing a sob. "I-I-I-I was just br-bringing you the herbs you a-a-asked for!" She was already cursed with what seemed like an incurable case of the mutters and now she was stuttering, which meant she was particularly upset, and altogether impossible to hear let alone understand. "Speak up brood!" he growled, ears flat against his skull with irritation. But rather than force out more incoherent rambling the little mare nudged a pile of partially wilted weeds toward him to indicate her purpose. The stallion's eyes shone with understanding as he remembered the errand he had sent the slave brood on earlier that day. "Oh that. These had better be the right sort unlike last time. If I break out in hives again I'll make sure you suffer along with me." he spat, recalling with disgust her past failure. He sniffed the leaves and little yellow flower buds suspiciously before finally lying down in the dust and nodding his wary approval. He was at least two or three hands taller than her and she wouldn't be able to reach the scratch on his back if he were standing. The blue-ish colored mare picked the herbs up in her mouth and chewed them into a paste, then carefully applyied them to his scratch. It wasn't anything too serious, but it was paining him and he didn't want to risk some life-threatening infection. "Done. Maybe tomorrow and then the next day just to make sure?" Briseis muttered cautiously, not wanting to make it sound like an order and risk being thwacked again. Snake nodded, hardly looking at her as he got to his feet and scanned their surroundings, though still unable to see much because of all the tall grasses. He was almost certain there was still someone out there...
