Ryder gave her a puzzled look as she gazed with an angered expression at the water. It looked almost as if she were mad at the water itself for posing such a problem to her. His ears swiveled toward her, catching her words when she eventually spoke. "Mad at yourself? You can't help it if no one has been able to teach you." Ryder said, blinking a few times as he tried to think of a reason why she would be so mad at herself for not being able to swim. He'd never been really upset at himself since the death of his mother. To this day, the young stallion still felt like he should have done something to somehow prevent his father from killing her, but from his torn ear, it probably wouldn't have ended very well for him. Ryder was brought back to the present at Pandora's request, and a bright smile crossed his face. "Sure! I can teach you how to swim. It's really easy once you get the hang of it." He assured her, taking a step back into the water.
Ryder paused when he was about knee deep, turning back to look at Pandora. "So all you really have to do is paddle your legs and sort of... drag yourself through the water if that makes sense." Ryder tried to explain, demonstrating the motion she should make with one of his front legs. "You just gotta do that with both front legs, and then you gotta kick out with your back legs like your kicking a grass beast or something." Ryder placed his front leg back down and kicked out with a back leg as if a creature were standing behind him. His head tilted toward the water, inviting her to join him. "Come on. I'll help you if you need me to, but I think you can do it."

Pandora snorted as she stamped her foot "Yes I can~" she whined softly trying to restore her injured pride "I should be a big filly and know how to do many things by myself" nodding her head sharply before she noticed Ryder trying to help her and agreeing to teach her deflating a little ".... Are you sure it's so easy?" she asked her voice softer again. The little filly honestly felt a little bad that she was so scared of the water but it was so cold, and so DEEP. She was sure that she was going to sink like a stone if she went in and she didn't want to drown. But it was Ryder's soothing words that helped her as she looked at the water then at her friend only to pause a moment before shaking her head rebuilding that pride of her's as she lifted her head tall and ever so slowly began to walk into the water.
Trying to be all brave and tough as she did so only to whine softly "coldcoldcoldcold~" mostly low and to herself but she didn't bolt from the water like last time. Instead she steadily walked until too was knee deep and close to her new best friend. Looking to him for guidance ".... paddle and drag? how is that supposed to help? and what if I fall in? or what if the water tries eating me or something?"

Ryder chuckled at his friend's attempt to act brave, puffing out her chest like a prideful lion who had been teased about something. It had been such a long time since he had had a fellow foal to play with, seeing her reactions to different things were just as amusing to him as actually playing with her. "Yes, I'm sure it's easy. Once you get the hang of it anyways. I promise I won't let you drown." He said, trying to be as encouraging as he could be. The cool water rippled around him as he stepped further into the pond. Swimming was like second nature to him. His mother had been adamant that he learned to swim. 'Just in case.' She had always said during his lessons, and he had to admit that he couldn't help but love it. Not only because it was a blast swimming around and diving under the water, but it also brought so many happy memories of his mother. Her kindness and gentle ways had made it so much easier for him to learn things. "Trust me. If I learned how to swim, anyone can do it." The colt joked, giving her a toothy grin.
He bit his tongue in order not to giggle at Pandora's mumbled complaints and obvious discomfort. "The water won't try and eat you. Just try it. It'll make sense once you start trying." Ryder said with a nod of his head before walking further into the pond. The ground beneath him fell away, and the brown paint paddled his legs, showing Pandora exactly where the drop-off would be so that it wouldn't startle her as much.

Pandora's ears laid back as she nervously began working her way deeper and deeper. The water itself felt very very strange to move through it was hard to describe as her limbs felt light but heavy at the same time "You better not let me drown or I promise I... I... I am going to come back as a ghost and haunt you!" she stated trying keep up that tough act but her voice had wavered a moment only for her to reclaim her resolve. Eventually she began a new mantra as she moved to the drop off "Paddle.... drag... paddle... drag" over and over until she got to the edge hesitating. Looking up at her friend with a snort as he seemed to be taking too much pleasure in her discomfort "Ohhhh~ im gonna haunt you so bad~" she muttered before looking down at the water which was swallowing up her body. At once that toughness faded and she got a little pale taking a big gulp before breathing to came her nerves.
Then after a few seconds of trying to coax herself further she shook her head "ohh... I cannot do this.... no I can do this, stop being a baby pandora. Okay so your going to have to trick yourself just like when daddy was teaching you how to maneuver down steep hills so you didn't fall" taking another gulp as she began a little dialogue with herself "oh hey look Pandora whats that over there? What?" it was an amusing little acting pretending someone had told her to look somewhere else turning her head to look somewhere away from the water and letting her body fall forward into the deep water. The resulting eep! and look on her face was priceless and she immediately tried swimming frantically having minor success in her panic.

The young stallion couldn't help but giggle at her threat. "Well, I certainly wouldn't want your ghost to haunt me forever. Nothing bad is going to happen. I cross my heart." He promised, paddling up to where the filly stood just in front of where the water would be deep enough for her to swim. His ears were trained toward her, listening to her hushed tone as she tried to motivate herself into doing this apparently daunting task. Ryder wondered if he had been that scared when he had first learned to swim. His mother had been so kind and gentle that he couldn't remember being afraid of anything that she wanted him to do.
When he thought that she had given up, Ryder plunged back into the water, making sure not to splash her too much when he submerged himself. Ryder swam around close by, kicking his legs to carry himself forward through pond. The feeling of the water against his skin was refreshing, something that he relished in every time that he went for a swim. It was like he was flying through the air, minus the fact that he wasn't actually flying of course. He turned his head as he swam when he heard Pandora splash into the water, a look of terror and a shriek escaping her on the way down from her small fall. Ryder almost laughed before he noticed the panicked expression on her face and the frantic kicking of her legs. Paddling toward her, he swam close to her side. "Stay calm, Pandora. See, do what I'm doing with my legs. Just copy me. Like Simon-says! Have you ever played that game?" He asked, hoping to help his friend out of her current distressed state. "Simon says to copy me." Ryder said with a cheerful smile.
