[ Jekyll – Olde – Silver Wood ]
Silver stars glistened on the celestial canvas of the night sky, illuminating the darkness with a faint, phantasmagoric glow. However, these glistening stars and the limp, crescent moon were aided in the creation of the light by a magnificent forest, cherished by all of the members of the Olde Herd. If any horse were to pad softly through this winding labyrinth of trees, they would notice the magic radiating from the trees and the water, even affecting the way the soil felt under hoof. Indeed, the Silver Wood had a mystical feeling to it, as if the very spirits of the ancestral unicorns rested here. It was no wonder why the healer and defender mages trained in this exact forest, considering how much magic radiated in the air.
Even now, a red sabino horse padded softly through the forest, his sapphire-hued eyes taking in everything of the past. As a young defender mage, Jekyll had been brought to this glistening forest many times, and he had always felt the breath escape his chest. Not only was the magic of this forest sacred, but the beauty also seemed to add to the forest’s magnificence. Had the unicorns chosen to bless this place in honor of its breath-taking beauty?
As each hoof hit the ground, Jekyll could feel the magic rushing through his veins, making him feel more awake and alive than ever. Still, even as the advisor felt awed by this forest, he couldn’t help but feel sorrow as well. How many times had he been here with his former mate? The two had spent hours in this forest as younger mages, and now that time was but a distant memory. Stop it, Jekyll. You came here to get away from the stress of the herd for a while, not to reflect upon memories that only cause grief. If you’re going to start mourning, then you might as well go back to the herd and work some more.
Seeing as the conflict between the Olde Herd and the Bachelor Herd had only happened recently, tensions were running high in the herd, and Jekyll knew that he needed to be at his best for the future. Who knew what the future was going to bring? The Olde Herd couldn’t have one of their advisors mourning at this time; any sign of weakness could surely be the demise of many more horses.
