Mama? Mama?Wistfully-Dreaming's Cholena and POEDOGS's Dawne_______ Her mouth was caked with mud, preventing her speech, preventing her from calling out. Withholding from her, rescue, she had tears trailing down her cheeks in the star speckled light. She whimpered quietly and lifted her blue eyes to the sky. "M-Ma-Mama?" She said quietly as the dampened mud loosed around her mouth and she spoke freely again. It was late, she no longer heard the crashing and calls of her father. Where ever he was? She crawled slowly out of the ditch, her muddy, wet coat shining in the starlight. "M-Ma-Mama?" She squeaked a little louder. Nothing, nothing familiar at least, there were howls in the distance and the glowing amber eyes of some sort of predator far away, stalking something. A lunar raven squawked, eyeing the filly's innocent face. Something, maybe the mud and grime, dissuaded him from catching flight and flocking to her. The only place Dawne knew by heart was her hiding spot now. Her little sand hole on the beach by the land bridge.
She traveled slowly and stumbled several times on her newfound legs. She blinked several times in fear and sadness. Where was mama? What about Dada? Dawne felt another tear slide down her cheek and watched it plop onto the sandy ground. She was here. Now it was a matter of time before someone found her to take her back to Daddy and Mommy. She curled up in the sand on the very edge of the forest. She was whimpering, but the fatigue ridden filly didn't notice and within minutes she was tossing and turning in sleep.

Legs flew under her body, the mare ceasing to stop her fleeing. If she didn't distance herself now then they would reclaim her, and that was not an option. Again she leapt, clearing the fallen tree with ease for her small size. She had always dreamt of this day, the one where she escaped the clutches of the Bachelors, but she never thought it to come true. Tears of joy filled her eyes, the emotion streaming down her face as she left the horrors of her life of four years behind her.
She had made it, she escaped hell on earth.
Slowly, hooves switched gait from a bounding gallop, to a walk, the mare heaving as she tried to even her quickened breaths. She needed to reach Kanu and his herd just opposite from where the Summer Fields were located, and she was heading in the right direction. She winced, the caked blood on her coat cracking as she moved her neck to investigate around her. The welts and swollen cuts under her jaw pained her, the fleshy meat of her neck torn into by the stallion's hooves. She had narrowly escaped, but even so, she still managed to get away.
Sighing, Lena debated whether or not to rest for the night, but something caught her eye. Glowing, and the figure seemed so small, yet familiar. The mare cautiously walked forward, still skittish of this island and all its dangers. But the closer she got, the clearer the flowing became.
"Mother.!" A voice called from the glowing, one she now identified as coming from the heart of a large tree, "Come quick, mother.!"
Wide eyes blinked rapidly, the glowing pulling away from the tree to form two bodies. Foals. Her foals.
"H-Hok'ee," she whispered in awe, eyes traveling to the other foal, "Camehwait."
The glowing foals took no time for their mother to realize what was going on, bolting away, "This way, mother.! She needs you.!"
Frightened that she'd lose then again, the mare followed right behind the ghost of her children. She knew that it was more than likely her imagination and lack of sleep, but she didn't care. Her legs burned again from fatigue but she didn't slow until she came to the opening.
The beach.
Her hooves sunk into damp sand, her two foals flickering in and out of view as they stood over a small body, "She needs you, mother."
Trotting over to them, Lena watched with sad eyes and her foals vanished, not a trace of them to be found. But what she did see, was a tiny foal, lost and abandoned.
"Oh by the unicorns'," she whispered, looking around for anyone, a mother, a father, just anyone who looked after this foal. In the end, her search came up empty, the mare tentatively laying beside the foal, curling up to her.
"Shh," she whispered softly, laying her head on the foal's neck, "I'm here, my darling, I'm here."
A single tear streaked down the mother's cheek, "Mother will always be here."

The filly blinked sand out of her eyes, what was this? She was encased in warmth and love. Something wet her fetlocks, "I'm here, Mother will always be here." The filly stretched wide her eyes and looked up, a tangled, braided black mane lay in the sand, and a pretty braided tail there. Then the mare's pretty chimera coat came into view and the filly saw her scars. "Momma? Oh momma!" The filly buried her head in the mare's mane, tears running down her cheeks. Here was her mother, the one who was about to save her.
"Mama." The filly sighed peacefully and her body loosened, stress finally leaving her. Now her gentle snores filled the air and whispers from her dream, "Daw, Daw, Dawne..." she murmured quietly. Another name as well was mentioned, likely one that the mare would recognize, "Ceth... ceth... in." It was a quiet and soft spoken name. She'd only recognize it should she really listen. The other name the filly muttered was unfamiliar. Gre? Grer? Whatever the filly had said it would probably be a mystery to the mare. For now though, Dawne was safe in another's "arms".
