"The Stranger Of Many Colors"
Plot The sun has only just begun to rise as dawn slowly lights the world to begin a new day. Niya is sleeping comfortably beside the great pine, not too far in distance from the rest of her herd. In the quite days before the war everything seems right - well as right as it can be for a broodmare living in the Bachelor herd. Things are peaceful and uneventful, but that changes when she is met by a stranger of quite peculiar colors.
In This Thread o1. Niya played by NaporieRizia o2. Enigma played by ccdefoe2000
Niya | Slave | Bachelor
The young mare had fallen asleep beside the great pine the night before. She usually slept with her grandmother, but the older mare had been summoned by a stallion for the night, leaving Niya to sleep on her own and worry about the health and safety of her only known family member. She had formed a very special bond with the old mare. After all, Chari had practically raised her since she joined the herd. If it hadn't been for her gentleness and encouragement it was very likely the fragile thing would have cracked under the pressure of living as a slave. The mare was getting old now though, very old... and it concerned Niya. She couldn't help but worry about her every time that she was summoned for whatever it was she would be asked to do. Even when it was something as simple as taking care of the foals - a chore that Chari loved dearly - Niya couldn't help but be worried she would over-exert herself while playing with them. She hated to worry so much, and her grandmother warned her against such a thing - told her it was unnecessary stress - but she couldn't help it. She loved her, and she feared the day she would be taken from her life. Without her grandmother, what would she have left?
These had been the basis of her thoughts the night before - the thoughts that drove her to stay up late through the night and to sleep restlessly when she did find slumber. It also caused her to have bad dreams, and eventually to wake. She jumped upright, taking in a few deep breaths as emerald eyes peered throughout the dimly-lit world of the early morning. Eventually she was able to calm down and she lay her head back down, letting her chin rest in the soft grass. She didn't bother trying to go back to sleep, but instead looked over the horizon as she waited for the sun to rise. It wasn't often she got to watch the breaking of the day, but when she did it was always a treat. There was nothing more uplifting and inspiring than to watch the sun rise, bringing with it a brand new day full of new opportunities.

Enigma | Messenger | Loner (424 words)
The false dawn had just started to light the eastern sky and the meadowlarks and other early birds were fooled by the ever lightening sky, even the large chimeric stallion had his spirit lifted at the sight of the false dawn because Enigma knew that full dawn would not be far off. The dew was settling heavy upon the long grasses around the great pine and once again Enigma found himself wandering through these fields looking for stories and other equines to talk to. it had been a few days since the events of his meeting with the guard elite Ghost and while Ghost had warned Enigma of the threats of the guards around the Bachelor herd. Enigma figured that he could simple use his knowledge of Ghost and a few of the bits he had gleamed from the larger horse to talk himself out of a beating and the temptations of new stories and knowledge was a hard mistress to ignore. The dim light and cool air muffled Enigma's hoof falls as he made his way towards the Great pine, his head doing his normal swing so that his right eye could take in what is poor left eye could not. The tri-colored stallion was watchful for any threats that may come running from the grasses, maybe a grass dog as Ghost called them.
Naught but seventy five yards from the pine Enigma paused as he saw a large shape quickly launch itself from its resting area underneath the pine, the sudden movement caused Enigma to halt in his meanderings and attempt to make out the shape in the shadows. The shape resembled a equine like himself and the large stallion was thinking it maybe best to call out to the equine, but before he could gather his courage to make himself heard the shape laid back down under the pine. Enigma stood still waiting for the shape to once again launch itself from its soil bed. Enigma stood watching as a flock of starlings flew out from the Pine to places unknown, the large chimeric stallion started once again to walk this time heading towards the pine to make himself known to the unknown equine. Perhaps this would be a good chance to meet a new face amoung the Bachelor herd. Perhaps this new day would bring a friend and new knowledge, because as Enigma walked the first rays of true dawn began to paint the sky to the east in the exquisite colors that only the sun could attempt to create.

Niya | Slave | Bachelor
The colors of the sky were magnificent. When she watched the rising sun paint the world in such amazing colors it was like, for that moment, she was living in her own fairy tale. Sometimes she felt like she could fly if she tried. Some day, when the Unicorns returned, it would be in a setting such as this - she was sure. They would walk from the sun, like children of the sun. They would be born out of the light, shining as a light themselves. Their mighty horns would grant healing and second chances to all those who were righteous and they would bring suffering and destruction to those who did wrong. Merciful and just they would envelop the world with their power and slowly bring it to peace once again, as they had done before. Only this time they wouldn't leave. They would see now how deeply the horses of Chevalin needed them and would stay. Everything would be alright... everything would be perfect. In the eyes of the young mare, that would be revival.
The sound of heavy hooves slowly approaching pulled Niya out of her fantasy. Her delicate head raised from its resting and swiveled around on her arched neck to look behind her at whoever it was that walked her way. For a moment she thought that the colors of the sun were messing with her eyes when she first saw the stallion. She blinked, trying to straighten her sight which she was sure must be flawed. It slowly sunk in though that she was not mistaken, this horse really was colored as he was - like several different puzzles put together as one. She wasn't sure what to think of this equine. She'd never seen him before, and he lacked the X mark on his face, so he couldn't be of the Bachelor herd, could he? No, she would know if he were, after living there so many years. Still, he was a stallion, and though she knew from experience that not all stallions were like the ones in the herd, she couldn't make a risk in hopes he was one of them. In one sweeping motion she rocked forward and onto her hooves, standing at her full height of 17.1 hands high, though she lowered her head to show him the respect she'd been taught to display to the "superior" gender. "Hello... sir." She said quietly, her voice soft like the song of a bird and sweet like honey all at once. "Can I help you?" She offered with more confidence in her tone, raising her head to a slightly more comfortable height.

Enigma | Messenger | Loner (521 words)
Many a morning had painted the sky since Enigma left the horrors of the Olde herd and his parents, and in the few days when he had had the opportunity to meet a new face were always the best mornings. Mornings were a time of new things, of freshness and the shaking off of the previous day, this Enigma wrapped up the idea of sunrises. As The large stallion's shadow raced out away from the sunrise, and the colors lit the sky with the fury of the cosmos, The tri-colored stallion slowly approached the pine and the equine he had the notion was laying beneath it. Enigma was being careful to not rush to the new equine because as he had found out with a exile stallion that was a fast way to a swift kick and insults. The sight of an equine head suddenly turning towards Enigma brought him to a quick halt. Enigma watched as with grace in their swift motion, the equine rocked to their hooves. There in the wake of the great pine was a new face who if Enigma was not mistaken quickly arched their neck to lower their head. The chimeric stallion turned his head so as to better focus on the brown to white blanket horse. It was not till the mare spoke that the kaleidoscope of color now known as Enigma, knew that the equine he had approached was a mare. "Hello... sir." her voice was like a quite tune carried by the wind to the lonely, "Can I help you?" The mare said as she took on a tone more sure of itself and her head raised on her beautifully arched neck.
The large stallion shook his neck to settle his main, and pawed the earth as he struggled to find his voice. This was obviously a bachelor mare that he had stumbled upon, and she was alone this was a perfect time to get an idea of the herd from the other side, But Enigma would have to be careful and watchful for if she called out for a guard he would lose this chance as he would have to fly over the grasslands to avoid another beating. "Excuse me miss Bachelor I did not mean to sneak up on you..." The chimeric stallion started out in his deep voice, doing his best to keep his tone nonthreatening and calm. "...I saw someone near the pine and was hoping to break the morning in company, But I must admit I was not expecting to find a mare as lovely as yourself alone under this lonely giant." Enigma was careful to pick his words carefully and attempt to charm the lady into not calling for anyone. 'Sugar may be sweet but to much and your stomach will turn sour.' ran through Enigma's mind as he thought about what to say next, for this was untrodden terrain that the large stallion found himself in. "How does the blessedly colorful morning find you?" Enigma asked while not making any moves that could be seen as threatening nor making any attempt to approach the mare.

Niya | Slave | Bachelor
Niya watched as the stallion seemed to puzzle for something to say. She wasn't sure what to make of his unsettled actions as he pawed at the ground though. Part of her worried while the other part told her to grow up and give him a chance. As his deep voice met her curved ears Niya felt at least a little less worried. Sure, she wouldn't say she felt comfortable around the stranger before she'd even learned his name nor his intentions, but he at least sounded kind... and polite, she couldn't help but notice just how polite he was. It was almost like being home again, being treated so kindly. She couldn't let her guard fall of course. She'd never let her guard down, but she wouldn't have to be as guarded, if that was even possible. His flattery was unnecessary though. Such comments meant nothing to her anymore. Too often they were mumbled by stallions who only said them as a part of the "game" as she liked to call it. It was all a game and she was their toy. Still though, that didn't mean she couldn't look past this stallion's comments in order to enjoy his carefully constructed sentences. His way of talking was so familiar to that she heard at home that it almost drew a smile to face... almost.
"No, that's quite alright." She assured him with a curt nod of her head in a sort of greeting. She noticed - very gratefully at that - how he was careful to stay out of her space. He didn't approach her nor really do anything that could be taken as threatening. Slowly she was beginning to think he might be one of the stallions like the ones she knew back home - one unlike the brutes that lived here in her prison. She gave a soft grin at his polite inquiry. "Quite well actually. Thank you." She replied kindly. As she spoke she let her head take a natural height, no longer displaying any submission toward the stranger. She saw him as someone different, someone who it was unnecessary to drop to such lowly heights. She could only hope she was right.

Enigma | Messenger | Loner(311 words) The light of morning cast across both horses as the chill of night was quickly replaced by the love and warmth of morning, it would not be long before the dew from the night previous would be burned under the gaze of the sun. The tri-colored stallion watched as the morning light seemed to warm the mare before him, as he watched her speak she seemed to warm up and become more... Energize. "Quite well actually. Thank you." Enigma watched as the mare raised her head in the morning light, She seemed almost regal as the morning light bathed her. Enigma realized to late that he had been staring and quickly rushed to an apology. "Excuse me for my stare, I was reminded of olde times and the loveliness struck me. I do beg your forgivness, I meant no insult." Enigma's deep voice rushed as he attempted to save himself from getting in trouble or having the lovely mare call out for a guard.
"It is a lovely morning and I am glad that it breaks for you in a favorable way." the chimeric stallion's tail swished in the air slightly the long strands catching the sun and grass in once movement. Enigma thought for a few moments on what would be the best course, the mare seemed both welcoming and guarding as well. "My name is Enigma, and what, prey tell, is your name? That is if I may be so bold to ask. I do not wish to cause any disturbance for I am quite unaware of the rules of your herd, fair mare. So I do ask your forgiveness if I make any errors, It is to lovely a day and the company is too stunning for my mouth to ruin, and it is to early to have to run from another guard."

Niya | Bachelor | Slave She had hardly noticed the stallion's stare settling on her for very long. More she was aware of the silence, part of which she blamed herself for. After all, he had been so kind to start the conversation and had done a fine job keeping it up, and yet she put little effort into keeping it going. She was thinking through on a topic for her to introduce when he apologized for staring, which she had no idea he'd been doing. "Oh, no don't worry." She offered, shaking her head with a welcoming grin. I hadn't even noticed, she added mentally. One thing that did catch her attention was his mention of Olde and suddenly she felt all weight lift from her. If he was from Olde then surely he was nothing like the stallions she'd met around here. No, he would be just the opposite, just as he appeared at first glance. It must be true, he really wasn't putting on a mask to fool her. Her eyes glistened at the thought of being able to speak with someone who not only knew manners, but who had been from her own herd. It was like a taste of home.
Her attention was drawn back to the stallion when he once more began to speak, his words still graced with politeness - so friendly and inviting. She smiled, dipping her head in a formal greeting, emerald eyes peering up at him past thick cocoa hair. "It is a pleasure to meet you then, Enigma." She said kindly, her voice soft and sweet, no longer hesitant at all. "My name is Niya."
