" Crystal Clear "
T h e P l o t What began as a sleepless night beneath the star streaked sky, the young buckskin mare's mind plagued by restless thoughts, soon drifted into one of mysterious circumstances when the guide of the group of loners, the witch Ba'Yagu, approached at the edge of the clearing, beckoning Akira with her soft spoken words...something about...a gift.

[ Akira ]
Akira... Lifting her head delicately from the grassy floor, Akira's eyelids flashed open, though her pupils were able to see nothing at first, only darkness. Akira... There. There it was again. A voice...softly calling her name...but where was it coming from? Blinking several times, the buckskin mare's deep chocolate brown eyes gradually adjusted to the pale, silver moonlight which penetrated the inky darkness of the night, only accompanied by the far off twinkle of the stars. The initial panic that had curled its ugly fingers around her throat in its icy grip slowly subsided as the memories of the last few days trickled back into her mind. The journey...the wall...Miraphy's touch causing most of it to just...disappear... These images swirled round and round inside the mare's head until the voice called out again. Come, child... Shaking off the utter fatigue as best she could, Akira, at last, heaved off the ground where she'd been resting, managing to pull herself to her hooves, her jet black mane and tail blending in with the darkness of her surroundings with only the moonlight creating a faint sheen wherever it touched them. Off to the distance on the very outside of the group, she was able to make out a figure, though she couldn't quite tell who it was just yet...though it did sound an awful lot like... "Ba'Yagu...?" Akira whispered, taking a cautious step forward, her white ringed ears pricked toward the figure. It wasn't long before the silhouette began to move away, disappearing from the moon's reflection...and Akira silently followed.
The two seemed to travel along on some beaten path of the mysterious fourth island they'd only just begun to explore until finally, when they had made some distance from the group, the figure stopped. "...Where...are we...?" the young mare murmured beneath her breath, almost as if asking the island itself rather than her elusive guide.

"Nowhere in particular" The silver-maned mare sighed wistfully. Her nose was pointed to the sky as she spoke, her mind hardly on the matter she intended to discuss with the young mare whom had trailed behind her. When she had left the group in the night, she had wondered who would follow. It was their second night on the Island, and all was going rather swimmingly despite the mishap with Miraphy. While it drained her to give gifts, she had decided one a night till her own imminent doom would be rather beneficial. The horses here would need their gifts if they were to face the unicorns without her.... she sighed deeply. "It seems we're a bit to the left of that tree, actually and of course a few miles west of your home. Do you miss it?"
The witch found herself a bit lost with her words, hardly discussing anything of importance in the dizzy night around them. She was tired, and fretful over what was to come. She wasn't quite ready to get to the subject matter just yet. No... she wanted to see what was on the other mares mind first. She needed to know where the loner's heads were at in the situation she had placed them in... despite their ignorance to how dire it was.

{ Akira }
Pursing her lips tightly at the elder mare's vague answer, Akira decided to continue trailing after her group's leader, intense curiosity pushing her forward every step of the way. Many legends and rumors surrounded this mysterious mare...this Ba'Yagu...one of the most strained being her power to awaken...gifts within those who were ready. Though many who sought to claim those gifts never found her. It was her who came to them when their souls were ready..or at least, that is how the tale was spun and what her mother had always told her. Akira's black hooves sunk into the soft earth with years of cautious practice, almost erasing the sound of her footsteps completely. A skill she had developed, always on the edge and on the run from being taken in by bachelors. The night was still, though a gentle breeze did run its whispy fingers through her mane and tail, tossing her blue jay feathers back and forth as it pleased.
When her primarily rhetorical question was answered quite sarcastically by the witch, Akira rolled her eyes, though a slight half smile curved her lips upward in amusement. "Well I can see that." It seemed the elder mare shared her art in dancing around the point and with much sass to add. Though when Ba'Yagu asked about her home, the glimpse of the smile vanished instantly, her eyes becoming cold and distant...detached even as her mind obviously traveled to another place. One to which...she could never return. "...I don't have a home," she responded at last, avoiding the witch's gaze to study the moon above, "Or rather...my home is where the wind takes me. Any ties I've ever had seemed to all have been cut at some point. It makes it difficult to settle down in one place for long...and besides, I love to see new places. To be free from restraint." Not to mention unnecessary strain on the heart...though of course she would never say that out loud.
