A role-play between Miles and EvalynnAs the rain falls from the sky, the Bachelors and Olde finally meet. What will be the outcome this time? The rain was finally falling, the clouds opening up just moments after Miles' victory over the large, pale stallion Ronin. It hadn't been much of a fight, due to Ronin's previous injuries, and Miles was glad to have gotten away with minor scratches. He looked around, searching for the mare he had promised himself to, and noticed the palomino had wandered off. He pinned his ears back, slightly disappointed to lose his opportunity to check on Casper. But, she was a strong mare and he guessed they'd have a chance to see each other after this war was over. As the victors of the Bachelors caught their breath, heads slowly turned towards the Riddle Mountains. Miles followed their gaze and noticed a dark mass appearing at the edges of the fields. Even in the rain, the Olde herd was slowly becoming visible. His heart caught in his chest as tension washed over his herd, and he waited for the signal to move. It seemed like forever, but soon they were moving, running at full speed towards the Olde herd. Miles, being smaller than most, kept to the back of the charge, not wanting to get in the way of the larger horses. The last thing he needed was to be run down for getting in the way.
As they approached the Olde, horses broke out into pairs, choosing their opponents. The rain splashed on his coat as Miles looked for his opponent. It was hard to see, and regardless if the sun was going to be rising in a few hours, the overcast sky was sure to stay. A bright coat caught his eye and Miles decided that that horse would be his enemy. As horses collided, some cried out as a scare tactic, but Miles decided to come at this horse silently. Taking a breath, he dipped his head downward, running at this Olde horse full speed. As he got closer, and was able to see his opponent better, he noticed the horse was a paint mare...wait a mare? How was he going to fight against her? A stallion was no issue, as technically they were equals on the battle field, but a mare? Miles had never even raised a hoof to a mare in his own herd! Yes, his duty was to his herd, but...a mare...?
No, stop. Now was not the time to be moral. He had to fight her.
Miles slid to a stop in front of Evalynn, and reared up as high as he could on his hind legs, striking out with his forelegs, though not intending to hit her. This was his version of intimidating, though now that he was here...she was larger than him too! He landed and shook his mane out, staring at the Olde mare. "If you turn around and return to your island, I won't confront you in battle, but in peace!" he said, his voice unwavering. He wasn't going to fight a mare if he didn't have to.

As the sparring around Evalynn slowly came to a halt, her own sparring round slowly ended as well. All around her, she could hear panting, and voices calling out, anything from words of violence and anger, to ones of congratulations. She herself, turned to face her smaller partner and dipped her head in respect and thanked him for sparring with her. As she had won the match, the paintaloosa mare would be moving on; would be going to battle. With that, it seemed as if the sky let loose it's emotions, and rain began to fall in earnest. Almost as if on cue, the winners from each match strode up to where Vasska was waiting for them. They listened to him with perked ears and solemn faces. They were to move out tonight, now. It was official. The war was beginning, and to war, they marched.
It seemed as if the trek across the field of the Bachelors' island took forever to make, and yet, it also felt like it was over in only a mere blink of an eye. Soon, shapes of horses began appearing on the horizon, and tension seemed to instantly wrap itself around each horse like fog. Evalynn herself was so tensed, she was surprised her own body hadn't locked up. However, the icy rain prickling her coat kept her alert and focused. As one, the horses of Olde began to speed up, cantering now. And in response to their moving, the now clear bodies of Bachelor horses sprung into action themselves, racing to meet their opponents.
As Evalynn sped up, her body seemed to release itself to the instincts of her Knight training, all tension freeing itself from her. She felt focused and clarity seemed to wash over her. As the fastest horses of each herd clashed, an outpouring of shrill battle screams seemed to rent the night. As she raced forward, she saw a gray appaloosa heading straight for her, and as he slid to a stop, raising himself up and rearing at her, his hooves striking out, not yet close enough to hit her. Her ears flattened against her neck, and she let out a gutteral whinny as he dropped back onto four hooves.
If you turn around and return to your island, I won't confront you in battle, but in peace!
The stallion, a couple hands shorter than she she realized, spoke to her, with a voice, and message, she was sure he thought was reasonable. Turn back? Not in a million years. She was a knight, through and through, and her training, as well as her beliefs would never allow her to turn tail and run. She doubted she'd ever let herself run even if she was losing.
"I'm sure you mean well, Bachelor" she spat out the last word in contempt "But I will not be running, now or ever. If you want peace with me, turn on your brothers, for I will show a Bachelor no mercy this night." with that, she bunched her hind legs and threw herself forward with a battle cry, lunging toward him, her hooves pounding the air, hoping to land a kick against his chest or legs.

"I'm sure you mean well, Bachelor, but I will not be running, now or ever. If you want peace with me, turn on your brothers, for I will show a Bachelor no mercy this night."
Miles felt his ears fall back again as her words hit him. Turn on his herd? Never! He had little to no time to think of a plan because, soon after the mare spoke, she launched herself at him. Miles felt his hooves slip in the, now, muddy grass as he pushed himself away from her reach and jumped to the side, turning to face her. He thought he had clearly avoided her, but a sharp sting told him she landed a hit. One of his back legs was bleeding, though not a lot. She must have scratched him with her hooves as he leaped to the side. He shook his head, kicking his leg out to show that her mark wasn't going to affect him. "You fight well. The Olde seems to be a lot stronger than what we were told, but that won't stop me from protecting our land from you invaders!" he spat, glaring at her. He had never let anger take control of him, and even now he wasn't too angry, but he was offended from her words earlier.
The blue roan kicked off the ground, going on the offensive now. He was going to charge her and try to knock her down. When he was inches from her, he leaped from the ground, hoping that his body weight would be enough to take her down, and reached out with an open mouth, aiming for her ear.

As she leapt at the stallion, he jumped away from her, but she managed to knick one of his hind legs with her hoof, and she glimpsed it begin to bleed before focusing back on his movements. He kicked the injured leg out, and she narrowed her eyes. Clearly she hadn't hit it hard enough to do any real damage. Oh well, she had a whole battle's worth of time to defeat him and move on. As he spoke, she sneered at him and lashed her tail like a whip.
"I trained hard to protect my herd, so give me your best shot, Bachelor." she snorted angrily and as he charged at her, she reared up, with a shrill shriek, and was about to slam her hooves down on him when they collided, but instead on falling like he'd intended, she was shoved back, her hooves leaving deep scores in the thrashed mud as her legs sank down to the hock. She winced as his teeth bit into her ear, and she jerked back, feeling his teeth scraping a layer of skin off of her ear. As her anger welled up, small flames began to appear around her hooves. She remembered with a start that Ba'Yagu had gifted her with fire manipulation not long into their trek to the Bachelors' island, and she'd tried testing it out only a couple times before tonight. She knew she couldn't hold the flames for too long, as she was still trying to learn how to control her gift, but a couple seconds in a fight could be all it took for a victory, and she'd take it.
With a smirk, she launched herself at the gray appaloosa stallion, flames flickering but still lit, and aimed herself to bite down on his throat, her teeth gleaming from the fire's light.

It seemed she was strong enough to counter his weight, though it didn't surprise him. He was small after all, and it was a decent shot at best. He felt her push against him and as he lost to gravity, his teeth managed to get a layer from her ear. The taste wasn't what he expected, never having really bitten another horse before, and once he landed he quickly spat the skin out of him mouth. A moment later, flames appeared around her hooves and she launched herself at him now. Her mouth was aimed at his throat and the flames seemed to grow brighter. Miles jumped back, avoiding her teeth to the best of his abilities. He tucked his head against his neck, blocking her from accessing it, and moving out of her way. They both had the speed, it seemed, but who had the strength and stamina? She was playing dirty by using her gift, but the rain reminded Miles of his own gift. He could at least use this to his advantage.
Without replying to her, he focused on the drops falling around him. Water...he could use this to his advantage. Some of the drops stopped falling around him and he focused on shaping the drops into pinpoints. He should've trained more, he regretted this now, but with the minimal training he had, he could at least try. Once the drops were shaped, he gave the pintaloosa mare a sly grin. 'Try dodging these...' he thought to himself, and let the drops race towards her, their speed almost bullet-like. If he could control them until they hit their target, he would be okay, but this was taking an effort on his part and he wasn't sure how long he could keep these drops like this.

The stallion apparently had enough time before she got to him, and he jerked back, blocking her path to his neck. He closed his eyes, and Evalynn had half a second to wonder what he was doing, when she saw the rain start to do something quite peculiar. It stopped falling. It was than she realized he was able to manipulate water. She saw the rain start moving again, however, this time it was moving towards her, and rather quickly. Her eyes widened, and she knew she couldn't dodge those bullet-like water drops quick enough. However... Right before the water-bullets hit, Evalynn let herself crumple, falling to the ground, just narrowly avoiding the majority of the water. However, a couple searing lines across her back told her she hadn't dodged them all.
Before he could stomp on her, or try anything else, she rolled away from him, and lifted herself out of the grass, glaring at the stallion. She may have used her gift first, but the water-bullets, that was just dirty. By now, her flames had flickered out, and she didn't bother trying to reignite them. It was too much effort too early on in the fight. Instead, she charged the blue roan appaloosa feigning to the left before narrowly moving and overtaking his right side, and she rammed into his shoulder with all of her weight, and used her vantage point, to aim a bite to his spine.

His water bullets were going to hit her! But this mare was smarter than he gave her credit for. He watched her drop to the ground, barely avoiding a few of the drops as she hit the muddy grass. He couldn't hold the water drops up any longer and after the few that did scrap across her back passed her, he let them drop. His vision swam for a moment as it suddenly got hard to not only see, but to breathe as well, and he shook his head to clear his vision. A shadow crossed the ground in front of him and he realized the mare was attacking again. He was too slow in his reaction as she came towards him. He thought she was heading to his left side and he attempted to defend himself, but once again her speed shone through. The mare quickly change directions and plowed into his right shoulder. Miles quickly silenced any cry that came from his throat, putting all of his weight to his back legs as he struggled to keep from falling back. She was aiming to bite somewhere on his back, he noticed, and her large size was really giving him a hard time. The more she pushed onto him, the more he struggled, and suddenly his hooves felt like they were sinking into the muddy grass. Wait a second...
Miles let his hooves go further into the mud, finding the suction easing her weight on him. Now if only he could use...ouch, what was that?
The mare seemed to finally have gotten a bite into him, her teeth digging into his lower neck. Miles had had enough of this mare! He let her keep her focus on biting him as he positioned himself for his next move as silently as he could. A little pain was sure to happen, but he couldn't let it distract him. The blue roan waited for the right moment before he twisted his body again, pushing against her with his neck and head. If he could detach her from his neck, he could knock her off of him! He kept pushing against her, the mud helping him move his strength back towards his upper body, and finally got her away from his shoulder and down towards his back legs.
His next move was pulling his legs from the mud and sending a harsh buck at her stomach. If he hit, she would definitely have to let him go!

She felt her teeth clash with his spine, and she bit as hard as she could, not knowing how long she'd have to deal him any damage with the bite. As she pushed him, she felt him sliding, until suddenly the blue roan stallion began pushing her away from him with his neck. With a grunt, she let go of his neck and was about to rear up and strike at him when she saw his leg muscles tense up. She had less than a second to realize he was going to buck at her. She scrambled to back away from his hooves, but she wasn't quick enough, and his kick flung her away from him. A sharp pain erupted on her side where he had hit, and she glanced back, seeing two hoof prints now cut into her side.
Whipping her head around, she let loose a shrill whinny and reared up, lashing her front hooves at his face. She didn't have time to waste fighting this little stallion forever! She had to take him down, and go help her herd mates take out the rest of the diseased herd. This war was about their freedom. If Olde lost... They would lose their freedom. They would lose everything. So, failure was not an option. A rush of warmth spread through her veins like fire, and revitalized her, the pain in her side forgotten in a rush of adrenaline.
As she came crashing down, she lunged forward, and attacked him with a flurry of striking hooves, her eyes blazing with determination. "It's gonna take more than a pathetic little kick to take me down, stallion."

Warmth spread down his shoulders and back as he managed to kick this demon mare off of him. She must've bitten hard, or else there wouldn't have been this much blood. Miles kicked off any remaining mud from his hooves as the mare showed her frustration. She reared up, screaming and whipping her head about like a crazed animal. Miles jumped back from those flying hooves, snorting his own frustrations. She was not an easy opponent, and she wouldn't stop coming at him. There must be a way to get her down and out for good. A good attack was ideal, but she was so quick that he would have to be seconds quicker just to do that. He suddenly wished he was the size of Brutus, so intimidating and powerful. One kick from him would knock this Olde mare out for good. What a thing to think! He never wished that much harm on someone before, and it made his stomach a little queasy. There was little to no time to ponder on his morals, as the bi-colored mare was coming at him again, head on.
She screamed at him as she attacked, and it took all of his speed to avoid most of the attacks with her hooves. He may have been on the defensive now, but he wasn't going to show her how much she had over him. "I've noticed. Though letting your feelings over take you might not be the best idea, mare!" he said, feeling one of her hooves catching his shoulder. He let the force of her attack push him away, his hooves skidding in the mud. Now that they had some distance and a few precious seconds, Miles was going to try his gift again. She had been unprepared for it the first time, but now he could adjust for his past mistakes.
Taking a deep breath, Miles focused on more drops this time, letting the natural world help him in his cause. The drops around him stopped, and a few away from him as well. They quickly formed into their stream-lined shape and Miles let them fly at her in a wall formation, covering any ground that she might have for dodging. It took almost all of his strength to force the wall quickly at her, narrowing her escape time.

"Tch! You haven't seen me let my feelings take over. Not yet!" she whinnied triumphantly as she felt her hoof crash down on his shoulder, and saw him move away from her, farther than she would've thought her hoof could've sent him. However, as she coiled her muscles, tensing to leap at him once more, she noticed the same expression on his face that he had gotten when he'd tried to hit her with the rain bullets.
Sure enough, she saw the rain stop, though this time, an entire wall seemed to raise. There was no way she could dodge that! Letting the fire in her veins spread, she closed her eyes for a second, picturing a flame, bright and large, willing it to spring up in front of her. As the bullets came at her, she knew that if this didn't work, those rainlets would hit her and do some serious damage. Suddenly, a large flame appeared in front of her, in which she ducked behind, and as the bullets came at her, the ones that hit the flames evaporated from heat of the fire.
Though the sun was slowly turning the clouds from inky midnight to rose colored morning, it was still plenty dark, and she willed the flame to burn brighter, to keep the stallions gaze on it, or at least keep his eyes blind to all else. As the fire became brighter, and hotter, she was thankful that it was raining so hard, else she feared that she might set the whole fields aflame. She ducked out from behind the flame, hoping that he wouldn't see, and planted her hind legs into the mud, and reared up, silently striking out at his head and neck. If he saw her, he'd have plenty of time to move away, but if the flames were bright enough to kill his night vision temporarily, she'd have him right where she wanted him.

It happened quickly. One moment he was staring, triumphantly, at his creation rushing towards her and in the next second, flames! He let go of the drops, his breath catching in his throat as he did so as he ducked his head to shield his eyes from the sudden brightness. It was an unexpected move coming from her, and now as he struggled against his own powers he was fighting to see again. He backed up a little, keeping his eyes shut and feeling the heat on his body. It was amazing how much control she had over her gift, and he had to admire her for it. The Olde were definitely on par with the Bachelors; this was going to be a harsh war.
As Miles felt his strength returning, he dared to open his eyes. For a few seconds, his vision was hazy as it adjusted to the sudden brightness the flames cast and those few seconds were the only ones he had. The mare was attacking again, and she was a lot closer than he remembered. Her legs flashed in front of his face and time seemed to slow as he struggled with what he was going to do.
The blue roan didn't think as he kicked off the ground and launched himself forward. Her hooves were nothing to fear anymore and he ducked his head as he rammed himself into her exposed belly. Her could feel her hooves come down on his back, but this time he had her!
