The warm, dry environment of the East Isle was carrying on as usual, the day as still and dreary as any other. Snake snorted, flicking his tail against his flank to free it off any bothersome dirt or insects. He ambled away from the fringes of his herd, their heads low as they basked beneath the sun, grazing. An unfamiliar scent had caught his attention, leading him out of sight from the Bachelors and into a grove of pines a short distance away. His sickly yellow eyes narrowed as he scanned the shady conifers for any sign of movement. "Hullo?” he called out, his tone mild. His nonchalant expression sank into a slight frown as nothing new arose to his attention. The young stallion turned around and began walking away slowly when he came to an abrupt halt, his dark ears swiveling. He could have sworn a- His nostrils flared with surprise and he took a few lively, cross-legged steps to one side as a pair of pale blue eyes flashed across his line of sight. “Who-” Snake choked on his words, ears flattening. “A spy!” he hissed. A grey and white mare stood before him, her eerily blue optical flashing in the dim light streaming between the thick piney fronds of the conifers. A lone mare, perhaps? She would make an exceptional addition to the broods if he could catch her.

Greer watched the stranger horse walk through the pines, sniffing the air for her scent. She smelled like pine and lemons, a mix she'd made herself to smell better. Running everywhere and getting sweaty wasnt exactly a pleasing scent. She mixed some old citrus and pine needles in a tin with some water and she had herself a sweet smelling concoction she rubbed on her neck and hide. At least the pine masked her a little bit. But it was too late. The bay appaloosa caught sight of her silver gem and pale blue eye, which stuck out through the green and brown trees. Her dark grey coat, helped little. Aswell as her bright white markings. Where was camouflage when she needed it? When the horse yelled spy she took off through the tree's nearly running into one, but easily darting around it and over a tall log. Her hooves could carry her forever it seemed.

Snake's thoroughbred physic wasn't always the best in a fight, but it certainly allowed him a great deal of speed and stamina. He lengthened his stride, swiftly galloping after the grey and white equine. He lunged forward, jaws wide, and attempted to snap up a mouthful of her dark tail. He missed and rather than grab hold of his quarry, tripped, throwing himself off-stride. He quickly recovered from his little stumble and caught up to his target, eating up the lose distance. He soon matched her stride for stride, and lunged again, this time attempting to grasp a mouthful of her mane.
(Sorry for the late reply!)

Greer kicked out with her back hoof as she ran, nailing one of his front leg. This though, threw her off balance and she nearly fell over herself but managed to regain her balance and kept on running. She laughed with confidence, knowing that nothing could stop her. She took a peek over her shoulder and spotted snake a few yards back. When she turned around all she was a tree, and then blackness.

He snapped up air as she swerved from his range and bolted ahead at an angle. It all happened so fast he barely had time to register as her hindquarters jerked and sharp pain exploded in his left front cannon. He suppressed a cry of pain and instead exhaled through gritted teeth, creating a hissing sound as he stumbled yet again, but this time to his knees. The stallion moaned as he hit the ground, shook his head, and then shakily pushed himself upright, his knees scraped and bloody and a small gash where the mare had kicked his cannon. Frustrated, he charged after the mare, shaking off the pain as he had been tough by his bachelor up bringers. A look of hopelessness crossed his face as he viewed the mare’s greater distance, there was no way he would catch up! The loner peered over her shoulder seemingly to glimpse her pursuer. Snake’s attitude quickly brightened at this and his expression changed to a malevolent grin, his yellow eyes narrowing with wicked pleasure. He could hear the horrible crash from where he galloped, yards behind, as the foolish creature crashed blindly into a tree. The appaloosa caught up, surveying the situation with a snide countenance. The brood had knocked herself unconscious trying to get away!
Snake considered his options. She was too big and heavy to drag or carry and he couldn’t just leave his prize helplessly sprawled upon the dirt, free picking for predators like grass beasts, while he went in search of allies to aid him. The spotted equine shook out his mane in aggravation. Well he supposed there wasn’t much he could do until she woke up. After a nasty crash like that, she would be to injured and disoriented to run away again, possibly even in shock. He could easily manipulate her into coming back to the bachelor herd with him. Satisfied with his decision, Snake settled down near the mare, studying his scraped knees and the gash on his cannon.
