At the stallion's words the mare spoke, "I know not of where we are going, Sir." The old akhal-teke spoke softly and kindly, meaning no disrespect. Her bones were already starting to rattle with he mist in the air. She perked her ears though, her gaze softening to look younger,
"What are we going to do Sir? I only heard what the fly-thing told me." She blinked and picked her way along daintily. The stallion's answer didn't come as fast as Scarlet had thought it would and she slowed her pace to fall back to the mare and child. She smiled at the mare, her pace slow like the foal's.
"Miss, if you'd like a rest from caring for this darling here," the old mare nudged the filly softly and huffed out a breath of air, "I can watch her, we seem to have the same pace." She smiled again and looked forward.
"What are y'all's names?" Her sweet southern accent drawled through the moist air. It was like the City on Olde, except much warmer here. The mare stopped and lifted one of her muddy legs and rubbed away some of the dirt, basic cleanliness would help her travel, she wouldn't have to worry much about getting scratched and having an infection. Her ears pricked for someone to start speaking, someone to kill the silence.

A smile graced the mother's face at the stallion's kind words and the gentle way he interacted with her child, though she felt as if Nadia would become a burden and would do her best to keep her daughter out of trouble so that these fine horses could get their allies to safety. Nivinara will help of course, but she was no fighter, the only help she could offer was to mend any wounds they may receive during this mission.
When the group started to move out Nivinara allowed the Rangers to go ahead before she followed behind closely, well as much as she could with her tiny foal stumbling to keep up. Thankfully the filly was obvious to her sickness and it didn't effect her spirit any, so she was able to keep up with the group quite nicely. She listened to the stallion speak, and she had many questions but she felt it was best to keep silent and let the Rangers speak among themselves rather the annoy with her useless questions. She only perked when one of the older mares had fallen in step beside her and Nadia, a smile made its way to Nivinara's face at her words. Why in the world had Q never told her how kind the other Rangers were? "I appreciate the offer, and would most certainly accept the help, though i do not wish for her to be a burden to you." Nadia was her responsibility only, she didn't want to have to rely on anyone for her safety but she was happy to know that she would receive help if needed.
Nadia nickered happily at the nudge from the older mare. She seemed to be enjoying this journey already. Poor thing had no idea what was really going on... "This is Nadia." Nivinara answered the older mare first, dipping her head to the filly for a quick, loving nuzzle before returning her attention to the old mare once more, "And I am Nivinara."

A pretty, dark Teke joined the party just before they set off, and the young Arabian rolled her eyes. Great, more company. My favourite.
Cybele turned her attention to the dark stallion as he spoke of the mist ahead, "All I know about this... this destination of ours... is that it's wherever the loners ran off to hide from the war after Ba'Yagu called the meeting at The Great Pine." There wasn't the slightest hint of emotion in her voice, no inkling as to what was on her mind. Whatever she had felt towards the other loners after they'd fled from danger had long faded. "The witch mentioned an island," she added, albeit a little doubtfully. Cybele had never seen this island herself, being one of the few loners who had not only been there to receive Ba'Yagu's message, but declined to follow her.
As the group began to move forwards, the pale mare fell into step at the back of the pack, partially because she knew that their group consisted of a young filly and an older mare—horses who would not fare well in such a vulnerable position—and partially because she simply did not belong with this group of noble, honourable loners. She was a thief, a selfish, vindictive criminal, and while she rarely had interest in helping those in need, many of the others in her company were decent. Moral. Why was she even here? She sighed, ignoring the muck that had accumulated on her legs, golden eyes firmly locked on the path ahead.
When the old mare spoke, she overheard the names of Q's... mate, probably, and foal. If she saw him again, she'd definitely have to congratulate him. Or something.

Important!! New Posting Order Rules
Since the deadline for the end of the Objective V roleplays is slowly coming closer, the posting order guidelines for this thread have been changed. As it is difficult to keep waiting for everyone to post, please follow the next rules for the remainder of this event:
- You must wait two posts before sending in your next reply. - You may not post more than two times before a reply of your leader. - To make post reading easier, please underline/bold/italic/change colour of the name of the character you are adressing. - There is no posting order but please don't start a mini RP between two players just for the sake of posting. Make sure you react to more than one player's post

Jones glanced at the old mare (Scarlet), taking in her words and nodding in understanding. They truly had no idea, and he didn't feel comfortable leaving them completely in the dark. At the words of the long maned, golden eyed loner mare (Cybele), whom he assumed was not a ranger, he furrowed his brows slightly at her wording. Though sure that she did not intentionally make it sound like the loners who had gone with the witch were cowards, he felt the need to correct her. "They were not merely seeking to hide, young mare. The witch called the gathering to save all loners from a war that is not theirs to fight. We do not live in their herds, we are not a part of their society or follow their rules and mindsets. The political fight for power over one another should only be joined with loners who feel they wish to aid them. It would be unfair for loners who attempt to go their own way to be pulled into the fray by being mistaken for a herd member. Or even coerced into partaking..." he explained as they continued to weave through the mist. The former protector stallion kept a cautious eye on the ground, knowing fully well the dangers of crossing the landbridge ahead that had been kept secret for so many years.
"But you are right. We are travelling to an Island that has remained unknown to most mortals for many centuries. So far, only Ba'Yagu has had the knowledge required to reach it. Beyond this path, is the fourth island. Crescent." he added, attempting to take a glance over his shoulder to note that the others were still following. "However, the witch has run into danger with the group she took their for safe haven. Magdalene and I fear that they cannot face whatever is threatening them alone... So we aim to save them or at least attempt to aid them in their escape." his eyesbrows creased in worry he looked ahead towards the edges of the landbridge coming in view. He counted his blessings, for it seemed that even the dangerous Aphelion snakes usually lining it seemed to have sensed the trouble in the air and were absent from the ground.
TIME SKIP TO MOVE THE PLOT ALONG (you can of course include stuff from before the time-skip in the first paragraph of your post if you want to)
At the mouth of the landbridge, it finally became clear enough for Jones to see the ground vaguely through the mist. He checked around to see if the other herd members were still with him and smiled slightly when he confirmed it, though many had been quiet for a while. "Alright everyone, just stay calm" he turned his gaze back to the bridge, scanning the ground again. When he did, he came to an unsettling realization...
**NOTE: Sorry Poe, I was initially given the ok to post a time skip to move the plot along but made it a little too far ahead and forgot about an upcoming checkpoint ^^' If you could just adjust your post (you can save this one somewhere for later) and when you have others are free to post! Sorry again

Jones had explained the island and what we were doing, but by the unicorns, the mare was not in any way pleased. Should have been told to them right from the start, for her though, there was no reason to back down. She took in the group, a pretty mare Cybele, captured Scarlet's eye. She might have just been a loner from the City, most of them were. The rest of the group was rather nice, just not the strong fighting force that was probably needed, Scarlet chuckled a bit before feeling as if the tension in the air itself had cut her off, a new island. The land bridge had come into sight and it looked ominous and dead even. Jones, the older stallion that had greeted all the loners in the marsh, looked even a little concerned for some reason as he glanced over the bridge. Something seemed odd and out of place, something ominous and dangerous. The mare shivered, failing in her vain attempt to keep the tower's from knowing just how frail she could be. Her attention was turned back to the land bridge. It was barren and tense like the air, but there was that unsettling feeling, something was happening and it had not yet made it's presence known. Scarlet had long since quieted, but now she spoke finding a certain urgency,
"My name is Scarlet, should you need help."
"What are we encountering?" The mare said quietly, her voice laced with courage and at the same time fear, her eyes flickered but her face remained impassive.

“Don’t be scared, Aphelion is prepared for this war time, breaking down the mind For the worlds beauty, don’t mask our purity Discover the truths hidden, ‘Don’t run, we are your sun They’ll follow We’ll command None will turn, those who do will burn Follow Aphelion, and be saved none will be depraved…”

When they reached the landbridge Nivinara was struck silent at the impending sight before them. She had of course seen and crossed landbridges before, but this lead to an unknown island. When had there been a fourth and what mysteries did it hold? It wouldn't have mattered anyway, the island was far to dangerous, even for the witch it seemed.
But there was something off about the landbridge before them, Nivinara couldn't see it from where she stood but the way their leader stopped and seemed uneasy and that in turn made the mother uneasy.
Nivinara stared at the impending mist that blocked their view of the island on the other side, idly wondering if Q was there already. The young mare looked over at Jones as Scarlet spoke with him and when the stallion seemed silent for far to long Nivinara became even more worried.
"Jones? What are we walking into?" She finally asked, taking the moment to step forward and possibly see what was ahead of the group and she spotted them. Of course it was hard to see with the mist but she knew the shadows to be snakes, slithering along the landbridge. What kind of snakes she did not know, but dangerous they must be if Jones had stopped because of them, "How are we to cross?"

Cybele lifted her head high, trying to see over the heads of the other... taller loners, who seemed to have halted for some reason. Wow, it would be really nice to be a couple hands taller right now, she thought mutinously. The oriole above (she couldn't quite remember which of the brothers it was) mentioned snakes before breaking into song, and she did her best to commit the lyrics to memory. They were going to have to sing their way across? Really? She rarely sang, especially with... an audience, but if the others started, she would join in as unobtrusively as possible.
The young mare pulled up closer behind the group from her position at the back of the pack, right behind the mother-and-daughter [Nivinara and Nadia] and the old Teke [Scarlet]. Although she was unable to see the snakes herself, Cybele could certainly hear them, the subtle sound of scaled bodies shifting and writhing against the sand and one another, all hissing and movement.
When it appeared that their ranger [Jones]'s little troupe was dithering, the Arabian spoke up, "Let's get this over with; the less the witch has to wait, the better, yes?" Anything to get them going again.

Esterellita held her breathe at what she saw ahead. Snakes, and lots of them. Slithering about the landbridge and the water around it, making it seem to move with the slithering bodies. Her spine shivered at them, not that she was afraid, she just really really hated snakes. They gave her the creeps with their devilish eyes and whispering hiss noises. She shook her head and snorted in disgust. One of the bird brothers above them cried out what they must do. Sing? The young mare thought to herself, oh dear. Looking back a bit nervously at the other mares. Surely their singing was as beautiful as their looks, and if not, then at least they had their looks to get by. Her ears perked when the brother started singing the song, she listened carefully. Trying to memorize every note he hit, every word he sung, every rhythm he flew to. She eyed Jones, wondering what he was thinking. Was he nervous? Of course not, don't be silly. He is the Protector...or was. But he still has the heart of one, I'll go where he goes. That thought made her puff out her chest slightly and she studied the mysterious landbridge. Which slowly disappeared into the mist, though she could still hear the hisses of the snakes and could swear some of their eyes seemed to glow. Then again, that could just be her imagination. She eyed the mare and filly [Nivinara and Nadia] , hoping that the mother [Nivinara] and older mare [Scarlet] beside her would make sure the filly would stay away from the snakes. She slowly walked to Jones, her heart pounding and she fought back an urge to squeal and squish him with a hug. For once, she wasn't inpatient about starting this journey. Mostly because of the creepy snakes."I suppose it could be worse," she stated as she stopped right behind him, loud enough for the rest of the group to hear as well. "At least we don't have to dance across." She joked slightly and smiled back at the group behind her. The joke wasn't her best, but maybe it would slightly lighten the mood. Or make them want to push her in, which ever to take their mind off of the snakes first.

"At least we don't have to dance across." Scarlet's throat rumbled with a short bout of laughter. Her ears perking up as if she were young again. She bounced her forelock out of her eyes and the purple irises took in the bird flying above them. Snakes, and the island, Aphelion? The roan shook her head, Chevalin progressed into oddity and darkness to quickly for the mare, she'd had her own fair share and now the corruption seemed ever so more true.
Bachelors and Olde were fighting and the Exiles were fleeing, oh the exiles, the horses Outlaw felt anchored to. Eh, the mare would miss the stallion while she was on her journey, but she ever so hoped she'd be back to him soon. Now the loners were going to help one of the most powerful horses on Chevalin, after all, leaving behind a friendship was necessary.
"You mean to say that this fly-thing here is telling us we must sing in order to not die?" The mare spoke lowly, allowing the mother's (Nivinara) voice to overlap her and shield the words from her child.
"Do we depend on musical talent, 'cause if so I a'int gonna survive this one." The mare's said gruffly her long eyelashes a whisper to her ears. Everything was calm right now, but the song would soon interrupt anything.

With a vaguely impatient sound, Cybele's gaze swept over her fellow loners, who had yet to utter a note of the oriole's song. The mare who had chattered away in some foreign language earlier [Esterellita] had lightened the gloom which hung over the group's heads (just barely), but morale was important in these circumstances, and every little contribution counted. "We can only hope the snakes aren't too critical," she grimaced at the elder Teke [Scarlet]'s words.
Cybele frowned. She had, of course, been hoping that their group of mostly mares would spontaneously erupt into song (or something) and take them over the snake-ridden landbridge, but it appeared that they, like herself, were all waiting for someone else to start. "Are we planning to cross this cesspit anytime today, or...?"
The pale Arabian lifted her slender profile reluctantly. Well, she decided, I suppose if nobody else feels like starting...
♫ "Don't be scared..." ♫ Her voice came out a little rough from disuse, but shifted into something lilting and soft once she gained her bearings. Cybele was by no means a well-versed singer, but the young mare's singing was pleasant—silvery and dulcet—nonetheless. Although she would never admit to doing so, she sang from time to time in the old cathedral that she called a home, and despite being hesitant to share her voice with complete and utter strangers, she was also not in the mood to be bitten to death by venomous snakes. Unless, of course, she was actually tone-deaf and sounded a little more like a strangled cat and less like the enchanting lark that she thought herself to be.
