She had wandered farther then she should have again, she knew it was true that perhaps she would get punished and yet she had done it because she wanted to smell the ocean. It was truly as simple as that. The easy part was always the running for she was a fast mare and much to the chagrin of some of the stallions very resourceful. She thanked her father's training for that, he taught her many things and getting rid of unwanted followers was one. But for now she was simply spending her few seconds alone running, dancing, playing in the water. She had yet been taught how to swim, not like the stallions around here would teach the mares such a thing lest they try swimming away. So she stayed in the shallows getting her knees wet at the most, stopping to catch her breath she looked down at her reflection. Her eyes fell upon the scar on her face and she snorted quickly stomping on the image before leaving the water even after ten years she was still bitter about her capture not that she let it show in front of many horses. Stepping out unto the sand she shook her mane and tail free of any water letting her mane fall back into its usual curly mess taking a moment to breath and close her eyes to enjoy the sunlight, the wind in her mane, the smell in the air.

The brisk morning air shook the stallion awake, the light wind playing with his sooty coat and howling in his ears. With a grunt, he rolled onto his side and reached his head out, his muzzle searching to touch the warmth of his love; but all it found was soft grass and more cold air. He picked his head up, a lazy gaze drifting to the side to see that once again, no one was there. His ears flicked forward as he stared into the empty spot beside him. Old habits die hard, he thought to himself before raising carefully to his hooves. Shaking the grass from his coat, he turned to glance upon the herd. Some were still sleeping, many were mingling. His eyes danced along the colorful bodies of mares and stallions alike. Since the death of his Enrya, he had been keeping tabs on a certain little mare a little more. Her bright coat and overly curly locks made her easy to pick out of the crowd. But today, she either was harder to find or she had snuck off again. Mallen favored the latter. With a small sigh, he picked up his hooves and took on a soft trot toward the water. He wasnt sure if thats really where she was, but he had sort of a.. hunch, one could say.
His hooves thumped lightly in the soft grass, his long tail dragging behind him with a small sway here and there. The pathetic excuse for a forelock, beads and all, bounced against his forehead. The stallion held his head in the air, closing his eyes against the soft breeze. It wasnt long before the sweet salty scent of the ocean caught his nostrils and the air turned cooler from the presence of the water. He stopped a few feet from the salty sea, waves lapping at the bank and just barely kissing his striped hooves before recoiling back back. Salty mist spread across his speckled chest, his eyes squinting from the reflection of the sun off sparkling water. Turning his attention away from the taunting sea, he scanned the sandy beach in search for the golden trouble maker of a mare.
He finally found her, standing upon the sand like a living statue, her hair playing in the wind, but everything else perfectly still. His brow furrowed, eyes set hard upon her figure. It could have been a beautiful scene if it wasnt.. her. He stalked toward her, sand flinging up against her underside and ears laid back against his skull. "Didnt you learn the first time, mare?" He demanded once he was in ear shot, his teeth gritted together and daggers shooting from his glare. He looked upon the scar across her eye and a smirk played across his lips. He couldnt help but feel an ounce of pride for being the one to harm her pretty little face.

Apparently all one has to to do was think of the devil and he would appear, at least that is what she thought bitterly as upon hearing his voice her ears snapped back and her eyes opened. She looked at him watching him only to flick her tail in irritation at having him speak to her, lifting her head instead of lowering it as she spoke calmly but as cold as ice her glare met his. Pandora was polite to most that was well known but to him she was always cold always stubborn and constantly testing her limits, it had been getting worse as of late. Today seemed to be no different as she turned from him "If I had we would not be having this conversation 'stallion', but for your information I was not running" looking back at him with a smirk she tauntingly added "The water is lovely today you should try it, after all you could use a bath"

The stallion rolled his eyes the moment she had opened her mouth. All he heard was a bunch of noise. However, her last stab had made him pin his ears and lunge at the mare, his muzzle stopping mere inches before hers. His neck arched, his muscles taunt under his thick skin. He gritted his teeth together and looked down upon her, his brow furrowed over his green and foggy eyes. "I scarred one side of your pretty little face, I can easily do it again." He forced through his clenched jaw, rage building up like boiling lava in his veins. He had dealt with the tension between them for long enough, as he used to have distractions. Now, he didnt. Now, he had more time to focus on all the things bothering him. And Pandora happened to make up about eighty percent of them. Every time he looked into her eyes, he could hear his father urging him on to make her fall to her knees and beg for mercy. He could hear the praise he received after painting his own hooves with her blood. He remembered the feeling of accomplishment, but they were all just the wild dreams of the fourteen year old colt he used to be.

She snorted watching his eyes roll, she did not care much if he did listen as long as he remained far from her she could care less about him. Course she did not expect the reaction that came from that comment of hers, Mallen was a good 2 hands bigger then her certainly stronger as well so seeing him charge her was quite intimidating. She let out a harsh whinny of surprise stepping back, stomping the ground as she shook her head agitated more then she ever had been with him before. Then he mentioned her scar which just got her furious, the wild blood in her raced through her veins. Memories flooded back, they had been both only foals she had only been in the herd for a month but was a little hellion always trying to run away. Mallen's father Abire had been the one sent to bring her back this time and to give punishment, he had taken Mallen with him for a 'lesson' in dealing with wild mares. Normally for a filly her age there was some leniency expected but that all changed when she had been cornered and in retaliation bucked Mallen hard enough to draw blood.
What happened next was quite the fight, she may have been two years Mallen's senior but one swift kick from his father had her collapsed and gasping for air. It it was hardly a fight after that, she could still remember Mallen's hooves pummeling her and delivering the final blows upon her face. She couldn't see out of her left eye for days after, he had branded her in a way giving her the same X that belonged the herd as their symbol. She never tried to run again, even for a year after the incident she was a 'good little mare'. It was only until she had noticed Mallen himself getting distracted with another mare that she felt confident enough to start wandering little by little until her determination one out as she was soon known for being slightly rebellious. But kept up the facade of being polite to the stallions to keep them placated.
Now he was thrusting such actions back in her face snapped any sense of politeness she had in her and her full wild nature shined through in a blaze of anger "You will have to catch me first stallion!" turning on her heel she kicked up as much sand as she could muster with one good buck at Mallen before taking off at a gallop. She was a mustang and she was ready to show this stallion all the fire that came with her breeding, laughing as she ran "Daddies not here to help you this time!"

The stallion snorted as the mare stepped back, a pleased look crossing his features. He liked to see her scared.. even if the moment was brief. He took a small step forward, just as sand was kicked up in his face. His eyes went wide as he saw a hoof flying toward his muzzle, but he wasnt going to let that happen again. He dodged it quickly, her hoof just barely clipping the edge of his ear. He shook his head, sand falling from his short, messy mane. He coughed a few times, dust and gritty sand escaping his mouth. His tongue would be dry for days now, stupid mare. Pulling his head back up, he watched her fleeting figure darting across the deep sand, the waves reaching out as if trying to stop her. Mallen furrowed his brow and collected his muscles, digging his hooves into the shifting sand and springing forward into a gallop after her. Sand flung up behind him and against his underside. He could almost feel the blood rushing in his veins as he raced to catch up to her.
But lets face it, he was built more for power than speed. While he was able to get closer to her, that was the best he could do. So thats what he did; Mallen stayed right on her tail, his powerful body working hard to keep up in the sand. It took twice the work running along the beach as it did on normal ground. Water lapped at his hooves, sea mist sprayed in his face. Though his features stayed determined, the feel of the wind blowing through his mane kept him going.

Pandora had to adjust her gait and speed to compensate for the sand under her feet, not wanting to fall and get trampled under the stallions massive hooves. She knew she couldn't run away, out run him yes but there were still stallions in the bachelors faster than her even if she got away now punishment would be waiting at the herd. So now it was simply a game of annoying her pursuer, she constantly switched directions, she kicked up water and even taunted him. She wanted to make him mad, she wanted to make him feel even a fraction of the pain he had caused her. But all this running especially so acrobatically and after already dancing in the water was wearing her down fast, no matter what she did she couldn't shake him.
Leading him in circles got her nowhere eventually she had to slow down but the bloody mare was not done annoying him yet and drove herself into the water till she was about chest high daring him to follow her knowing it was going to be a pain in his ass to try and pull her out from there. Panting heavily as she smirked looking at him with those devious defiant eyes of her wordlessly egging him on to finish the chase, eventually she would have to get out of the water but that did not mean she had to make it any easier on him. After all where was the fun in that?

The stallion's breath was starting to run ragged from the chase, each step falling upon the sand more and more misplaced. He had even given up on attempting to dodge the sand spraying into his face, accepting the gritty dust as it clung to his damn coat. He almost sighed in relief when she had stopped and waded into the water.. almost. He slowed to a stop at the water's edge, the waves lapping at his hooves as he gave an irritated glare at the golden mare before him. His sides heaved as he sucked in each salty breath, his mouth hanging slightly open in attempt to find more oxygen. His brow sat furrowed low across his eyes, and ears flattened back as he tried to figure out what to do with her. He didnt know if she could swim or not, but he guessed she couldnt; she would have attempted to swim away by now right? The stallion flicked his short forelock as sweat beamed across his brow. He could admit he was rather conflicted.
Mallen's gaze fell down to the water as he watched it pull at the tuffs of hair by his hooves, as if it were trying to drag him in. Taunting him. He snorted and whipped his head up quickly, a mischievous glint reaching his eyes and a smirk crossing his muzzle. He took one, maybe two steps into the cool shallow water and stopped. He glanced up at the mare once more and then with a giant splash, planted his haunches right where he stood. He tucked his back hooves to the side and stretched his front out before him, the wind tousling his mane as he held his head high and stared across the water at the mare without a word. She had to come out sooner or later, and he would be right there waiting.

Pandora could only smile as she watched the stallion stay at the shore though she was panting and out of breath herself trying to get as much air as she could. Actually after that kind of a run the water felt oh so very nice and soothing on her muscles. So there she stayed only to let out a laugh at Mallen's own expense "What is the matter stallion? afraid of a little water?" she mocked only to whinny as she got splashed snorting at him in anger. So it seemed for now the two of them were at a bit of a stalemate, staring at one another though there was little but a couple feet between them.
It was a while of waiting and glaring, but Mallen certainly had the one up of patience on the mare. There was signs of her impatience beginning to show a few minutes in, a flick of her tail here, a twitch of the ear there... all indications betraying the mares intentions to move fast again and soon. Finally she tore her gaze from him to look to his left, it was a gamble she was much much more slower in the water so she no longer had the advantage of a head start. But it was one she took anyways the little minx, moving slowly at first back and forth before eventually she tried to make a break for it.

He chuckled slightly at her taunting, though refusing to answer. Scared of the water? No, he loved it! The cool waves lapped against his sides, tugged softly at his tail, and played between his hooves. He could feel the sand being lifted from his hot body and pulled from his sooty coat. He could sit there for hours if it wasnt for a certain someone giving him the stink eye from a few feet away. It grew silent between them, the mare's tone seeming to linger in the thin air as the sound of crashing waves filled the background. His gaze was set cold into hers, picking up the subtle impatience that was starting to wash over her. He followed her eyes, her small movements as it seemed like she was trying to decide which was to go. And then, in a flurry of splashes and hooves, she was off.
Mallen sprang to his hooves, water washing over his back as he dug his hooves in deep into the ground to gain traction. The water tried to suck him back in, willing him to come back and enjoy it's peaceful waves, but he fought against it. This time, he had the advantage. The water was shallower, the sand more packed. He easily made it up beside her, his teeth gritting together as he took advantage of his new-found energy. Looking across the water, sprays of the salty sea splashing up in his face, he eyed the golden mare carefully. Step one, two, three, he lept at her, waiting for them to collide if he had timed it right.

There was a great splash and the gasp of the mare as he lept finding his target. Pandora had turned to looked at him when he had lunged giving her time but not enough for her to move out of the way, being pushed down to the ground by his sheer weight and size. Tumbling down she was stunned for a moment finding herself a bit under the water raising her head she pulled it out of the water coughing trying to regain her breath which was quite hard when one has a stallion on top of them but she managed the best that she could. Coughing up more of the water only to struggle and fight underneath the large stallion even though she was pinned under his weight.
It was lucky for him her had landed over her midsection while she was on her stomach and not her back, a lot less hooves to worry about if she wanted to try striking him, all that left to worry about now was her bite. Glaring at him she tried lifting herself up to no avail "Get off of me you big oaf!" she yelled at him ears pinned back nostrils flaring heavily.

The stallion squeezed his eyes shut as he plowed into the mare's running figure. They stumbled across the sand a few feet before sliding to a stop, Mallen towering over her small frame. He even coughed out from water, spiting it out to the side with his ears flattened against his skull. He looked down at her, chuckled slightly at her sputtering as she tried to get out of the water. The waves lapped against her sides, washing against the two as he pinned her into the soft sand. He smirked and raised one hoof, pressing it harshly against her muzzle. He leaned his head down, his lips brushing barely against her ear. "Oh yeah? Make me, shorty." He growled quietly, his voice deep and rough, rumbling from his throat in a way that he reserved just for when he was taunting her. A mischievous glint reached his gaze and he suddenly pushed her head back under the salty water. He wasnt intending to drown her, though he could admit if that was the result, his life would be a lot easier. But no, he was only trying to freak her out a bit. He couldnt help but feel like he had won with her pinned under his weight.

She continued to glare at him hatefully retreating from his hoof as it pressed against her muzzle, for a second all of her struggled stopped as her heart pounded in her chest. She was unsure of what he was going to do or how far he would go but the challenge he levied against her just set her blood aflame once more. Continuing to take deep breaths snorting against his hoof in anger as he got closer teasing her ear. He could feel the shiver of her body, the pausing of her breath the sound as she grit her teeth. When the mischievous glint entered his eyes for a second she was confused and the next she her head pushed under the water. Bubbles of her escaping air quickly formed around his leg and hoof as she thrashed her tail pelting, splashing the water.
She was indeed freaking out, suddenly submerged had her gasping and thus drawing in water now she was trying to hold unto what little breath she had left fighting against him. He was certainly victorious for a little while slowly the bubbles began to die out fading into still water, had he perhaps drowned her? certainly that was alot faster then one would think. In truth it was, she had simply realized the best way to get the bastard back was to play possum a moment so that she could aim carefully. After moment she lunged with the turning of her head to sink her teeth into his leg biting down hard before letting go hoping this would get him off her enough so that she could lift her head up to breath again and cough out the water she was choking on.

A smile dared to creep across the stallion's lips as she struggled against his hoof, her lashing tail sending cold water up his legs and across his underside. He almost lost his balance a few times with the power of the waves and her struggling combined, but he made sure to stay put. Bubbles started to rise from where she lay, their number dwindling every second. Quirking an eyebrow, he touched his dark muzzle to the cool water and peered in through the troubled waves. Surely she couldnt have drowned yet? Had he really scared her that much? He loosened his grip ever so slightly, allowing for her to resurface if she was smart enough to wiggle out from under his hoof, a displeased look crossing his features. Fun only seemed to last so long. He was just about to remove himself completely when a sharp pain shot up his leg. He gritted his teeth together, refraining from crying out more from surprise than pain really, and new anger rose in his blood.
He stepped to the side, allowing for her to find the surface, though he didn't let her enjoy it too much longer. He reached down and grabbed her mane between his teeth, roughly dragging her back to the more shallow waters before dropping her head into the damp sand. "What, scared of a little water?" He sneered, using her own words against her. His gaze briefly drifting to his leg to examine the damage. It wasnt bleeding, it just hurt. Furrowing his brow, he turned back to her and quickly hit his hoof against her cheek, eyes nearly slits as he glared down at her. "You ought to know your place." He growled between gritted teeth. Most mares he had respect for, even those in his own herd, but this mare had absolutely none.

It felt oh so satisfying to literally sink her teeth into the bloody stallion, she wished she had the strength to bite through but she needed to be able to breath first. Gasping and choking when she was finally able to breath coughing up water harshly she didnt have a defense against him grabbing and dragging her to the shore letting out a small yell of pain from the rough treatment. Hearing his barbed comment she hissed only to be struck by his hoof taking the blow, forced to lay there and try to recover her strength. That blow was certainly going to leave her with a nasty bruise on her face but she didn't rightly care about that.
Turning back to face him as both eyes burned into his but then she smiled and then she did something strange, she began to laugh it was a dark cruel laugh mocking him. This continued for a bit before she only smiled at him "Oh I do.... its making your life hell" she confessed just outright confessed "though it seems you haven't changed all these years, still get hot and bothered striking mares don't you?" the tinge in her voice was odd disturbingly off, it held... joy? she was having fun with this. Pandora leaned up batting her lashed a moment before laughing at him once again.
