Eyrin
Eyrin slowly walked through the chaos that was preparing a herd -or rather two herds - for war. Horses rushed around sparring, gathering thing and checking supplies for the oncoming battle. Eyrin sighed, feeling rather useless amids this all. He should have been thinking, trying to come up with a way to aid their 'cause, but instead he was left staring suspiciously at the new horses around him. Members of the olde. He found himself frowning when one of them managed to hid one of his own herd a bit harshly. Did they...? He shook his head. No. He should be worrying about other things. What was he doing thinking like this? How were they supossed to win this war if he couldn't trust the ones who would be standing next to them in the heat of the fight? No. He should clear his though of all prejudices. After all he had never met an olde member in person, did he?
And as fate would have it, Eyrin who had been spacing out, ran or, well, walked right into one.

Salvato Hoping to settle some of the nerves he'd built dwelling on the coming events, Salvato attempted to relax and took in a few deep breaths of air; he swore he could feel the toxins, from the nerves, polluting him as it entered his body. He sank into his mind behind closed eyelids, too deep to realize that others were already pairing up with each other to spar or gather. A soft breeze brushed against him, causing the cold wet algae, hanging over his neck, to remind him what he was supposed to be doing right now. The muffled sounds of the herd became instantaneously more clear, and he opened his eyes. He shook his body, algae swaying, and began to stretch. Setting his sights away from the mass majority of horses, he took in the open landscape of the Eastern Isle, hoping to find promising foliage for gathering. Doing so, his gratitude for the Isle of Olde grew considerably; this area, while vast, was barren and bleak in comparison to Olde. Not completely unfortunate, though, he thought to himself.
Before he recovered his balance from stretching, an unexpected mass had made contact with his thigh, causing him to stagger forward unceremoniously, turning to face the culprit as soon as he caught his footing.

Eyrin
Eyrin startled as he was pulled from his collision with the other horse. He quickly mumbled a 'sorry' bowing his head. It took him a moment to realize that this was not one of their own, but an old horse. His eyes widened a bit and he took a step back, unsure how the other would react to being run into by a horse from another herd. Despite their current status of allies -more or less- his muscles tensed in defense.

Salvato
Twitching one ear toward the stranger, and one ear back, a confused expression crossed his face as he watched the dark bays' reaction. He hadn't recalled ever seeing this horse among the herd on his numerous patrols; he was sure he wasn't from Olde.
He quickly relaxed his expression, hoping to make the stranger feel less defensive, he stood his ground as he responded: "I assure you, it's alright, I was pretty zoned out for a bit over here. I don't believe we've met before...I'm Salvato."

Eyrin
Eyrin watched as the stallion's ears twitched, blinking when the other's expression suddenly relaxed. Well... That was odd. He forced himself to relax his stance in response though, succeeding more or less.
At the stallion 's - apperantly named Salvato - apollagy, he bowed his head again, feelling a bit guilty at reacting so rudely to the new horse when he seemed to be so polite. "It was my fault. I was not looking where I was going, I'm sorry." He lifted his head, getting a better look at the other. "I don't believe we did. My name is Eyrin. Exile," he added for good measure, eyeing the horse for a reaction. "Nice to meet you, Salvato."

Salvato The moment the stallion before him introduced himself, Savy recalled all the harsh words his herd-mates, and leader, had spoken against the Exiles. Every time they'd start up their trash-talk, he'd either hold his tongue or walk away. He hadn't had any encounter with an Exile, so he banked on his ignorance to avoid such dramatic conversation. The most common rumor he'd heard was that the Exiles had "tainted blood;" which, either had something to do with their relatives being banished from the Isle, or their relatives betraying the unicorns. That was always just speculation, though; he'd never gotten a straight-answer as to why exactly that was. Although he was clueless, their insults had actually offended him to a certain degree, relating to being an outsider himself. One thing he learned growing up with his parents was that respect was to be given immediately, unless that privilege was not returned; this included ignorant judgement.
The respect Eiryn was displaying toward Savy caused a wave of relief to wash over him. He'd always hoped those rumors weren't true, and would hold on to that hope. He barely shook his head, and lowered his own in response, gazing up at the stallion through his long mane. "Hello Eiryn," he started, glancing down and back up at the bay, with a shallow bow in acknowledgement, "Knight of Olde." He lifted his head to a more comfortable position and continued, "Your apology is welcome, and appreciated; are you here to help those injured in the war?"; the word sent needles through his bones, though he didn't show it.

Eyrin
When Salvato acknowledged his apology, Eyrin felt himself relax almost fully, almost all nervousness leaving him. Now it felt more like talking to another horse of his herd who he never interacted with. He was slightly impressed by the other's rank though. It sounded like something quite important. He wondered if it compared to one of their ranks, like captain of guard. The next question made him a bit uneasy. As much as he'd like he did not know how he'd be able the injured. Not wanting to come off as incompetent though, he answered: "I'm here to aid those who will engage in battle in anyway possible. I hoping to give my assistance whenever possible for whatever task that might be given."
He couldn't help, but be a bit curious about the horses own task in this war though. "Will you be going to battle yourself?"

Salvato Nerves falling to his hooves, Savy felt the atmosphere shift between them shift immediately; which, to his surprise, also made the air began to feel less toxic in his lungs. Vasska was the last horse to speak toward the stallion, but he hadn't engaged him in conversation. Perhaps he just needed someone to talk to, one-on-one, about what was going to take place to feel a little more comfortable about the situation; maybe it was the fact that the Exile was choosing to aid those in the war, and not actually war himself.
"That's incredibly honorable of you, as they're going to need all the help they can get. I am also hoping to help in any way I can.", he gestured towards the algae hanging over his neck, amusing himself by his appearance, "War just didn't feel like an option for me; too many fighting, and not enough helping." He glanced back behind Eiryn, the blurry balls of color becoming clear in their movements. Most of them were sparring or arguing, and he honestly felt bad for them.

Eyrin
Eyrin felt somewhat comforted by the fact that this stallion also chose helping above fighting. He had heard that the herd of Olde were, well, old in their ways and he had somewhat feared to be looked down upon for having chosen to aid rather than fight as a male. The leader had made quite clear that only the ones 'worthy' enough would be left amongst their mids and that fact worried Eyrin quite a bit. Would they really choose to led their wounded rot even if they were their ally during war? The brown stallion couldn't believe someone would be that heartless.
He let out a small smile, hearing that this horse of the other herd shared his feeling toward helping in the oncoming battle. "I felt the same way. Were you by any chances on the way to fulfill a task? I would gladly walk along and help," he offered.

Salvato Salvato felt more and more comfortable with Eiryn as he continued to show generosity. He was just about to go search for more materials when the horse had ran into him, and was impressed with the fact that he'd just offered to help him do so.
"Actually, that's exactly what I was doing. I would love the help;", he lifted his head to where it felt comfortable and continued, "I'm not really familiar with this place, though," he glanced side-to-side, "so I'm not sure what to gather besides some strong sticks for splints."

Eyrin
Eyrin nodded looking around. "So gathering materials, huh?" He frowned trying to think about it. It was not that he was all that knowledgeable about this place himself, his real homeland was still the Southern Isle and even there his regular job consisted of scouting for food and water, not war supplies. He scouted good... Wait. "The wounded," he suddenly said out loud, before looking at Salvato. "Leaving them to tend to on the battle field will be difficult. Also even if we gather all these supplies, be it sticks for splints or maybe even herbs, it would be for naught if the bachelors got their hands on it. It be a great hit to us. Would it maybe be an idea to scout for a strategic place to accommodate our supplies and those who need to be taken away while we gather these supplies?" It sounded all like a question, even if he was proposing things. He was not one to take the lead after all or to take action without consent of others.

SalvatoEyeing the landscape, he responded, "Yeah....". He turned his had towards Eyrin when he mentioned the wounded to himself out loud. Salvato had been soo focused on what to use for aid, that he didn't think about how it would be used during battle. Savy felt grateful that Eyrin mentioned this, sure that he probably wouldn't have thought of that himself until the final minutes; however, he also felt dismay wash over him, as he realized this would be a bit more complicated than he'd originally thought. "I think that's a superb idea.", he said, nodding toward the bay in agreement. A thoughtful look crossed his face as he wondered to himself, How are the wounded going to get to the area? He thought about how they could use this plan to their greatest advantage, and asked, questioning even himself: "Perhaps we could find two places for the wounded to go during battle? I'm just thinking, if a horse is wounded on one side of the battle-field, it might be difficult, or even impossible, for them to make their way to one spot. If we offered a 'safe haven', if you will, on both sides of the battle-field, horses could go to whichever is the easiest for them to get to at the time." Savy wasn't even sure that made sense, and he lowered his head in frustration with himself.

Eyrin
What the other stallion was saying made sense. That he hadn't thought of that! Finding two places, that where somewhat sheltered and reasonably defensible would be even harder than one though. He looked upto the sky where the slowly sinking sun peeked through the cloud. They were lucky it was summer season, providing thzm with longer days and thus more time to work in, but even those hours of light would be gone and the isle would be plunged into the night. They should hurry.
"I think that is a good idea. It would indeed be hard for a wounded horse to cross a battle field safely," he agreed, looking back at Salvato. "It will be hard to find two suitable places, though and inform our-" he halted to think about that. He wanted to say our superiors, but who had the lead here? Khala or the leader of the olde herd? Both or was there no real arregement. If it was the leader of the olde would he allow the wounded of the exiles in this safe havens? He was so distracted that he asked out loud. "Will our wounded be helped too?"

SalvatoSavy lifted his head at Eyrins' answer, relieved that his idea was actually considered a good one. His mind began to race and he quickly glanced around them, searching for trees, bushes, and hills; however, the stallion cut off his sentence, and Savy was positive he knew why. He looked back at the bay, who spoke a valid question, one that Savy knew the answer to. Considering the behavior, and opinions, of his own king, he knew that it was anyones' guess whether or not Vasska would allow the Olde to aid the wounded that were not our own. If he had to guess, he'd say Vasska'd detest it, but surely wouldn't disallow it. On the other hand, informing the leaders would be just as challenging as finding safe-havens right now.
A look of determination pressed Salvatos' face as he responded to Eyrins' question: "I will aid anyone who seeks it," he responded, with a firm tone, that softened as he continued, "Perhaps we should actually make sure we can find sufficient areas before we consider informing our leaders. We can split up; I can run along these mountains and search for a spot, as well as gather any more materials I'm sure would be of use to us. It's up to you, but we should meet back here just after sunset."

Eyrin let out a small smile and nodded his agreement. "If we split up we can cover more ground and have more chances at finding a suitable place. Maybe if we meet back hear at twilight, we can exchange locations of the places we found. If we both were to inform our superiors, our information may have higher chances at being heard."
Eyrin nodded again, looking towards the hills. He started to move, not wanting to waste time, but stopped after a couple of seconds, looking back at Salvato. "Oh, Salvato?" He smiled openly now. " Thank you."
To be honest he had never expected that his first meeting with an Olde herd member to be such a pleasant one. It raised his spirits to know that Olde housed such honorable horses. Alongside more of these horses he could stand in this fight, despite their differences.
